Siri vs Jelly Bean - Nexus 7 General

You guys see this?
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk 2

Yes, and I CAN NOT WAIT to flaunt this to every one I know that said Siri is the best thing since slice bread and that's why iOS is better.
Can't Wait....

revenge is sweet
I can't wait to show off the Jelly Bean voice search capabilities to all the hard core iPhone fanatics that I work with. They try to show off Sir's capabilities whenever we fly somewhere and it never does what they want it to.
The Google Search and Google Now will have then envious, but unfortunately they are too hard core and will pay premium dollars for the next Apple gadget when it is released.

Coming from an iPhone 4s user, I must say: Google's implementation is astounding. The voice is much more human-like than Siri, and it seems to load faster as well. However, while I love The Verge, I think they are missing the point of Siri. Siri's goal is not to be the fastest, end-all voice recognition solution. It's main selling point is how personal it can be when communicating to the user. From these tests, its obvious that Siri is much more personable, even if its takes longer to load. I'll have to test them both out when my N7 arrives I guess .

This is technobuffalo, not the verge. I don't think they missed that point, they were talking about how Google's voice sounds better and more realistic, and that's a large part of being personable.

You know, I just watched that video yesterday and the review of the Nexus 7 on The Verge this morning, my bad. I agree that by having a more realistic voice, Google's service can be more personable, I think it is the detail that Apple put into Siri's results that make it more dynamic. When he asks for Kobe's height, they both give out the information, but Siri gives a player card with all sorts of information. What I am trying to say is, the way Siri presents information to the user is more appealing than Google's modified search results.

That isn't the point, if I ask for a players height why do I need all of his stats? That's not appealing to me, what if I don't even like sports and was looking it up for an article or something like that, no need what so ever for all of his other stats. If I wanted that I would ask for player bio. Especially if it's going to slow down my search as well it just doesn't make any sense.
Edit: Also, you sound like a major fanboy. You realize that your device doesn't do something as good so you cling onto something else that you think makes your device better. Bravo sir.

On the personal note, I really look out for an assistant whom I could teach stuff, make it do things my way - I sure this is not difficult to implement.
Apple releases features / software which others device makers have released like years in advance - and that gets touted as "great" with all the fan fare. I have been part of the crowd which has let this happen, own 3GS, 4 and 4S. But I still carry around my Nokia E71

Wow..you guys are brutal...just cause i guy preferred siri over the New Google voice doesn't make him a "fanboy".
Let's be civil and respect each other's opinions.

I would say we are being civil, just kind of sad at how hard they have to draw at straws to try and convince everyone they have a device worth owning. I'm done though

IMO while the Google voice is better and from these tests its much faster ice gotta agree with the previous poster siri does present the information in a better way. While Google answered the direct question siri also answered the direct question but also bought up the player card with additional stats with out asking... its a choice if preference
Siri- exactly the answer you wanted
+ some extra info/stats on screen of your interested
Google exactly the answer you wanted but only the answer yo wanted.
I'll still go for the Google one over apple even tho siri IMO presents it better. Google will catch up/ exceed it very quickly.

The way I see it is that Apple have had Siri for a while and still can't get it right. Google hasn't even officially released..... what ever they're calling it and people are liking it. I've never been a huge fan of voice recognition stuff since it never understands my oh so too English voice. But Google's voice thing somewhat works for me so I might end up using it a fair bit.

Impressive. Are the local based questions (i.e. sport) limited to US users only?

My guess is that is should be pretty world wide so no matter where you are you get the info you want. The voice thing also searches Google's search engine so no matter what you'll get something.

In response to this, while yes siri has given you a few more pieces of information and google gave you the direct response. Remember, all other search results are right under that card. Simply swipe that card away and now you have WAY more information if you needed it then siri. If you were to view the web results on siri, it would take way more time for siri to open the browser, then run that search again, google did both at the same time.

Do me a favour [NSFW or Children]

Guys, I want to ask for a favour.
Ages and ages back I read about what I thought was an amazingly cool gadget.
We like gadgets.

I got speaking with the guy that invented this thing, and was mightily impressed. You'll be able to read my review soon... but this is the gadget:
The Alpha Grip:
It's a keyboard, compressed onto a gamepad like device. The keys are positioned around and under natural finger positions, according to usage and linguistic frequency; others are positions under the controller and used with rocker type switches.
It's difficult to describe, but the thing sits naturally in your hands and you have full keyboard access, in an exceptionally innovative, ergonomic design.
And, there's more - it also has a little trackerball that sits under your thumb position, so you can control both mouse and keyboard functions without ever taking your hands off the device.
It is complicated, and takes some getting used to, but when you are used to it, it's amazingly neat and geeky. I used to play all of my FPS games with a nostromo N52, but this thing lets you even further automate your gaming, macros and keyboard layouts. It's not quite the perfect game controller, but it's damn near close.
It is wired USB. Wires are baaad.
Unfortunately, it is not wireless or bluetooth etc, which is something I've spoken to the inventor about implementing. So, it's not quite ready for our phones yet, but as and when it is, wow.
However, I use it with an OQO mini computer and it's a perfect marriage, compact and highly productive (once you master the learning curve and get used to it). I guess you could use it with an xbox 360 and ps3 too, which would be cooool (although I've never tried). It emulates a standard USB Keyboard and mouse, so is highly compatible and doesn't use special drivers.
Anyway, enough blurb, I'm not selling this thing, I'm not even reviewing this thing here - you'll be able to read a full review from me eventually (and I'm in no way commercially connected or benefited from this).
However, my favour:
AlphaGrip, the company, have superb technical support and customer care. I like the product, I like the company. But you've probably never heard of either.
So: Yahoo have a competition on right now running between various small businesses that need more attention. I think Alphagrip needs and deserves this... so, have a look at the Yahoo page, and see if you think AlphaGrip deserves a vote. You don't have to buy the product, or even like it, but just decide if it deserves some of your mouse click love to get a gadget a bit more attention.
Gracias.
Yahoo Competition
V
PS. If you do buy one, tell Mike Willner, the inventor, that I sent you. I'll try to put in a good word for us and get us a deal.
EDIT: guys, I've just heard back from Mike, and he says that when you're buying the AlphaGrip, if you say that you're a member of this forum and write your XDA forums user ID in the comments section of the purchase page, you'll get $10 off the price.
And if you also mention that you've also voted on the Yahoo competition (quote something from his video interview to prove you've seen it), you'll get an extra $5 off! Go out and buy yourself a free lunch on Mike...
He said that they are certainly interested in doing a wireless adaptor or an all smartphone compatible version, so winning the competition will help get them the resources to do that. Hurry up and click already!
Guys, I want to repeat. I don't work for these guys, and aren't commercially linked to them in any way. I've just found Mike and his guys (and gals) to be a refreshingly helpful and conscientious tech company. They don't over inflate their claims, but make 100% solid and innovative stuff.
its got my vote.. im not a gamer but love me some gadgets, can see that thing being very useful
Thanks shogunmark!
I have to say that I'm quite a fan of non standard input devices. My all time favourite is the Microsoft Strategic Commander. If you've never seen one, it's basically the thing the little dude in Flight of the Navigator uses to fly the UFO. It kicks ass, but it's a bit too clever for it's own good. It actually has one axis assigned to flexing space/time, like too much Prince of Persia!
Day to day I tend to use the Nostromo n52 (not just for games, but general productivity work with appropriate macros, keyboard hooks and Windows PowerPro - my all time favourite app)
And I've also reviewed the Wolf Claw, which is more conventional, but useful for WASD users. I'm not a WASD fan personally.
BTW, I finally managed to spend some time with the Wii this weekend. It's not a particularly accurate input device, but novel - has anyone considered porting the open source Windows Bluetooth Input Interface to WinMob? It'd be cool to play doom on your phone on the Tube. Way to get shot in the head...

My brain overheats just thinking about the possibilities... you can picture the Taewanese design manager sitting at his desk, staring at a blank sheet of paper:
"Ok, Monday morning, what to do, what to do?
We need to think of a device that has 1% useful therapeutic design, 99% obvious sexual function. We've done massagers, infra red heaters, relaxation balls...
I know, The Knobbler. Reaches the parts other double ended stimulation devices cannot reach."

Hey guys, would any of you consider using the AlphaGrip or any of the above toys, including those for external application only?
One game pad I haven't owned is the Saitek Pro Gamer Command.
I played with it once on a display model and found it tacky and clunky. I much prefer the ergonomics of the Nostromo.
Do you guys ever use these things? Like I said, Nostromo is great for FPS, but you can also configure it to do stuff in productivity apps like PhotoShop, Word, VS2005, Winamp etc (although of course you can do that with pretty much any input device with appropriate software).

Geez, what have I got myself into?! This thread degenerated in a hurry.

Lets start a mindless list of all the things you hate about apple

I'm sure there are good things about apple. I sell Macs at work so I have to say good things about apple so I can get my $25 comission. This thread isn't about that however. This thread is a VENT thread. I want to hear all the things you hate, can't stand, dislike or are slightly irritated by - when it comes to anything apple.
Apple fanboys - with any luck there are sure to be a lot of baseless accusations, arguments without due grounds and all sorts of logical fallicies. There may even be embrassing pictures of Steve Jobs if we're lucky enough. However I just would like you to keep in mind we don't want any but's. No "But actually it doesn't", no "They fixed that in version 7" ect. The only butt allowed is if someone posts a picture of Steve Jobs mooning preschoolers.
If you want to, start a thread about why apple roxor your soxor, but please, give us space to vent!
I'll start:
I hate yuppies using an iPhone as a status symbol, and every single god damm person that sees my phone (HTC Touch Pro2) asking me either "Why didn't you get an iPhone" or "Is that some kind of iPhone knockoff?"

it's because the iPhone.....is their "precious"
I hate the way apple purposely Design the phone so that features standard in every other phone, are not there or DO NOT WORK. Eg bluetooth: only works for other iphones. SD card slot has already been mentioned, Itunes is annoying to use, No USB ports, and this is only just a start on its flaws. Why Don't many reviewers mention these flaws? Impartiality seems to go out the window when apple is involved.
I also dislike the free adverising apple gets when major companies adveritse their new iphone apps, or iphone only promotions. It would be fine if they advertised it in conjunction with their apps for other phone brands, but they dont. This just contributes to the misconception that iphone is the only phone with any support.

Newsflash: The Toshiba G900 had a 313dpi screen. It was released in 2007.
b. "Face Time". WTF? It's called "video calling". And it's been around for as long as I can remember 3G being around. Plus, Apple's implementation doesn't even work over cellular network. When it finaly does, it'll be another new "feature".
2. Introduce rudimentary features that have been around for years and then make it sound like they're new and awesome.
a. These were not available until 2009. MMS, cut-copy-paste, video recording, camera autofocus.
b. These were not available until 2010. Wallpaper, camera flash, multitasking, folders.
1. Their PR lies; about stats, about innovation, about anything
2. Jobs is a psycho
3. They make products for the technologically retarded and I am not technologically retarded
4. They lie
5. They lie
6. They are fanned by 1000000 douche bags across the US
7. They lie
Apple blows. Steve Jobs needs to die already.
Loving the contributions guys, keep em comming.
I hate how people always assume that there are more apps on an iphone - the Windows Mobile platform has been around for 10years, is completely open and anyone can install any software on their phone. There is no way apple ever will have an edge when they strange their software developers.
I hate how people will spend more money on a mac product that does exactly the same (if not less) as a similar product, because its 'apple'.
The iphone is like McDonalds. It tastes good (to they majority), its always the same (dependable) you have a great range (of whats on the menu) and anyone can hand over money and enjoy their food.
Windows Mobile is like cooking. If you don't know what your doing, you're going to be boiling 2minute noodles and not be that impressed compared to a happy meal. However if you're willing to learn about cooking, to put the time and effort into finding out what you can do with different ingrediants, how to put them together - then you can make an absolutely amazingly delicious meal for a fraction of the cost of takeaway food
Sure you can't just get delicious food if you're not willing to put the time in, but if you are? You can get something that meets your every craving and satisfies all your tastes!

Instagram-->iPhone users hate us

http://www.buzzfeed.com/katienotopoulos/iphone-users-disgusted-by-android-instagram
Check out that link.
First of all instagram is a disgrace to every real photographer in the world who actually spends time editing pictures to look better instead of just tossing on a generic mask. Next how can one group of users (namely iPhone users) actually say "Yuck" and "ew" to another group of people being able to use the same service. I dont see anyone who owns a BB saying "Man Android users getting BBM is like losers in high school taking over the cool table", as one retarded person in that post said with regards to instagram on android. In fact I'm pretty sure many BB users would be happy they can BBM more of their friends, or atleast I felt that way when I had a BB. This is truly proof that idiots (I know not everyone that uses instagram falls under this category but clearly these people do) who use instagram truly do think they are better than others simply because they can upload retro looking pictures of their meals and random highlights of their day. Well guess what you can have your *********** instagram back because android has 45 or 50 apps that have the exact same functions and most likely function even better.
To anyone with an android device, do yourself a favour and download Pixlr-o-matic. Its an app brought to you by Autodesk (the company made famous for building autocad and revit as well as 3dstudio max and countless other pieces of pricey software). Its available for free on the Google Play Store and is much better than that piece of elitist **** iPhone users call instagram.
Edit: This was copied from my FB, excuse my language.
Those posts explain everything that is wrong with iPhone users. Thinking their inferior products are better because of a logo.

Haha im with you.
I do a lot of automotive photography. And can spend hours sifting through my pictures and editing them to my satisfaction. In fact i just finished a portfolio (Im currently in school for architecture) which showcased a lot of my photography.
And to have someone come a long take a picture on their cell phone and throw a mask on it and say its better than my pictures makes me sad for humanity. And yes this did actually happen i showed someone a final edit of a picture i had taken, and they whipped out their cellphone and showed me a picture in which they had used the effects built in to camerazoomFX.

Some things you can say:
"Can you zoom into that part of the photo so I can see the detail?"
"Wow, what a great photograph! I'd love to have it hanging in my room at 20x30 inches. You think we can work something out???....oh wait, your ****ty 5MP camera won't allow prints that big."
The only time I use my phones camera is to shoot something funny I see, or if I see something absolutley gorgeus, and I REALLY have to have a photo of it, or of my camera gear...also when drunk in bars. That's really what camera phones were made for.

[email protected] i completely agree with you, i have on my E4GT and also have pixl one u stated like that better than instagram. but these cry baby iphone users act they invented instagram and its only for them. No the creator(s) smartened up and marketed this app to android for more publicity outside of whack @$$ apple. Marketing genious IMO. BUt let the apple iphone user hate cuz android is a million times better anyway. APPLE needs to step their screen size game up.
Wow. Those posts completely put me off. Let the dumb iPhone users f*** themselves with their closed-source, terrible-screened, slow pieces of crap. What has the world come to. I dream of the day when apps are made for Android and not iOS. That'll show them "ew"

Edit: Most of us XDA users are way smarter than the average iPhone user actually, because we rooted our phones, flash them etc. which requires skill. Skill is not defined by updating through one click to the latest iOS. Coding and devvin' definitely takes skill.

Most iPhone users suffer from extreme retardation. Either they don't want to learn about android and just jump on the mainstream train of licking Apple's ass and bashing android, or they are too retarded to learn.
I never understood the iPhone vs. Android fanboy wars...its the one thing more irritating than Dem vs Repub to me. The way I look at it, STFU and enjoy whichever phone you have, they're both good.

Ethical question why are Closed systems wrong?

Hi,
I have an assignment from school and I have to look for arguments that proves that Closed Systems are wrong in an ethical way. He knows there aren't any strong arguments he just want me to research a little.
The teacher said that I had to look into Richard Stallman but I couldn't find any strong arguments from him.
So the question is what makes Closed Systems Morally wrong if there are any. For example IOS from Apple.
I just need a couple simple arguments to show my teacher. I hope you guys can help.
Thanks in advance!

You know I was about to help with this. But I see it's your first post. It's early morning in US. And you probably have this paper due in the morning. Given all those, I will say this. You should have studied harder, great first post , and look up the advantages/disadvantages of open source. Much to learn you have young padawon.
Well actually it's not due tomorrow. It's my first post because I don't have an android, I have an iPhone but thought I would get better answers on an Android forum. I did research on Open Source and Free Software but still couldn't find any strong arguments.

then you haven't searched hard enough. What have you searched for and what have you found?
Well the thing is that Apple is not doing anything wrong "ethically". The buyer or user knows that the iDevice is a closed system and Apple has made that very clear therefore Apple has the right to do so. The user may think that they block all the software freedom of the iDevice. But the main point of doing so is that Apple did it to protect their company's profit and their "It Just Works" principle. And also they let you jailbreak it and you have the choice of not buying it.
I am also not looking for the benefits of an open system. I know it has a lot but what I am really looking for is why closed systems(IOS) are "morally" wrong.
The only thing I can think of is that Apple did that because of anti-trust problem but I don't know if my teacher thinks this is a valid argument.

Do a lil research on netscape and internet explorer. I'll help you if you show work. That was a good post you just had there. And honestly I don't think that all people quite understand the concept of drm, itunes, and ios when they buy an apple device. Exactly how clear is it that what you just bought will only work on that machine and that device? It sure wasn't clear for my ex wife when she bought an iphone.

I couldn't agree more. Not that this will help you in terms of your assignment but.... The mass media and social demographics are brainwashed by the term "iPhone." Look at Ziplock, Sharpie and other well-known names; It's common knowledge, per say. The vast majority of people who buy an iPhone or have one could care less about it being closed source or even know what that is.

But when they like the look of a Samsung S4, or something similar they're told, "Yeah, that won't have access to all the tunes and books you've bought on your iPhone and iPad. Best stick with Apple." Of course software isn't interchangeable across OSs, but at least with other OSs you have a choice of what device you have, rather than "I want that one", or "I want that one s".

Nah, just that I find the "once we've got you you're going to lose everything if you leave" attitude quite immoral.
I totally agree. I had a lot of music I paid for years ago in iTunes, which Apple tries hard to keep non-Apple users from accessing on their mobile devices.

Oh ok. Yea, that was the whole reason she stayed with the iphone. She wanted to switch to android where she could easily put her own content on her phone. She found out that all the ringtones, songs, and books she bought would be lost and only available on i devices. That was her only reason to stay with them. I thought it was pretty corrupt of them to charge her again for the music she had already paid for, to release the drm so she could transfer it from her iphone to android.
It goes to the netscape debacle. Creating a monopoly without fully notifying the end user of what they are buying into. It's fine to release software/hardware that only works with specific software/hardware if you tell the customer of such. That becomes an anti-trust issue border-lining on a monopoly that you have created to hook people into without a way out.
When you buy an idevice, you inherently know you are buying into a "system". But the extent of that system is not made clear to the end user.
Just take a look at the term you are signing into when you buy an apple device.
http://www.apple.com/legal/sla/
http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/appstore/dev/stdeula/

I feel I need a law degree just to comprehend the preamble.
Now have a gander at this.

Hey I can understand that. Big difference.
You can't tell me people understand what they are getting themselves into when buying an idevice unless they are tech savvy.

Yep, a loop. They try to hook you in to keep upgrading on their system on devices/hardware to keep access to what you bought in their system, not knowing that you have to stay there with them in order to keep what you have paid for.
My bad Apple actually did not clearly state that their systems are closed. But what matters is that they have stated in the The buyer is responsible for reading the agreement.
I also want to say that this assignment is just for a small discussion that I have to have with the teacher. No paper needed. But it does improve my mark though.
I am just curious what you guys have to say about Closed Systems. But the more I think about it the more I think there arent any legit arguments against Closed Systems.
So I may just turn it around and argue that Apple has all the right to do so.
Although I still hate Apple for forcing people by trying to block Jailbreaking.
I actually made it through all of this essay... good read....

Well good for you. We all like open source/systems, which is why we use it. You can't debate a subject without seeing both sides. And you don't see both sides.
And btw, there have been numerous court cases involving tos of companies that even though you click that you have read them, have been overturned becuase they have been ruled for some reason or another unfitting. So just because you say you read them, doesn't mean that's a good deal. tos can change after you buy a product. Which itunes does regularly. So you buy into something only to have it change, totally not right. And no backing out. But you bought into it. Are happy with it. So go argue for it.
Run along now.

Question PSA: How to fix the notification delay or non-receipt issue. Truly pathetic of Google and Samsung.

SOLUTION TO DELAYED-NOTIFICATIONS:
Enable USB debugging on the phone.
You just unzip the file provided here in your PC: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
Navigate to it via terminal.
Then, after you connect the phone to your PC, run:
./adb devices
./adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable
That'll fix it for sure.
I simply cannot recommend Android to my normie friends and family.
Let me restate this: It is not our job to fix Google's bugs.
This is a US-centric view.
If you can't tell: I am a bit aggravated right now.
I could not get my GMail, GCal, and other notifications to come through properly on Pixel 5's Android 11 OR S21 Ultra's Android 11.
This has apparently been an issue that many an Android user suffers through silently -- and, some don't even know that this is happening to them. I guess they're embarrassed to publicly state that their mobile OS is subpar.
When you get an e-mail or if a calendar event reminder is coming up, and even if your phone's screen is OFF/locked: you should get an *instant* notification. No delay whatsoever.
Well, if my screen was off/locked, I wouldn't get these notifications or it would take 10+ minutes to show. But, once I unlocked my phone: boom, notifications. And, sometimes even if my screen wasn't locked, there would be a serious delay or no notification.
After spending loads of time trying to fix this problem, me and my friend finally stumbled upon a solution: ./adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable
A reboot eliminates this setting modification, by the way.
Do not tell me that instant e-mail notifications are not necessary. Many of us work jobs that require them to be instant.
No end user should ever have to go through this. iPhone users certainly don't go through this.
If Google doesn't care about Android users, then, why should I, as an Android user, care about Android too? Just switch to iPhone, I guess.
Google pays Apple $10bn+ every year and makes better software for iOS than it does for Android.
Just look at the damn widgets that iOS users get.
So, $10bn/year plus the cost of the software developed to cater to iOS users.
This makes Google a simp cuck to Apple, nothing else.
Would Apple ever return this favor? No.
Therefore, Google management is a simp cucked by Apple, nothing more.
We are fools to be using this OS.
If Google is willing to subsidize my iOS software updates and experience to the tune of billions of dollars every single year -- then, why not just switch?
Clearly, my experience has shown me that Android can be cheaper -- if I don't value my time.
Statistic after statistic bears it out: iPhone users are wealthier.
I am tired of being an Android luser -- why should I take on such abuse and neglect by the main author of my mobile OS?
Before you start patronizing me: YES, I tried every other bloody trick in the book to fix this issue.
No end user should ever have to go through this! No end user should have to run adb commands to enable basic functionality.
There are some basic things that modern smartphones should just be able to do: instant notifications, 3rd party camera support, functioning RCS or some other form of E2EE messaging built-in, reliable local backups, a nationwide network of repair facilities, etc.
Android fails on all of these.
iPhone ordered. Glad to leave this Android ghetto behind.
Hey Google, if you have some self-respect: then, instead of paying Apple $10bn an year and doing iOS development, how about you actually work on some basic Android functionality instead?
Way too long dude.
But I can say I never had a delay on my notifications, especially on Gmail where my phone rings before my laptop for example.
All my apps get notified in time, I can compare with Signal and it's Desktop app.
I really don't know what's the cause but if I can help.
And for you information, all your monologue about iPhone is really too much, especially when some people have the exact same issue.
Just Google iPhone notifications delay and you'll find out.
If you wanna change, just change, We are not kids, nobody is gonna tell you to stay in the Android world if you're not satisfied.
To finish, you maybe make stupid assumptions. I paid an S21U 1500 € because I can, I also have an iPhone 12 Pro from work, and I just never use it because in my tastes, this is a really bad phone to use.
Good thing We use VoIP so I just forward my professional calls now.
Try this with your phone screen off: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firstrowria.pushnotificationtester
Set the notification to come in at like 240 seconds and lock your phone screen.
If it doesn't come in instantly as scheduled, you have a problem.

There is a reason why iOS has at least 60% market share in the US.
It has the basics right.
It has the low-hanging fruit mastered.
My friend has a Pixel 5 and I have an S21 Ultra 256GB.

Yep the reason is this is an American Company that they are proud of and you can see Apple products everywhere, ads, shows, movies, etc...
That just became a standard.
A few years ago Apple had the same share but with ****ty phones, so...
Today they make good products, but that's still not enough for me.
I can't use a system where censure is normal, they chose to close the doors to every developers they want, they don't follow their own rules, they don't wanna use standards to slow down every tiers development and keep everyone in jail...

I configured the app for 5 min notifications and programmed a countdown of my Google Home to see what was going on.
You won't get anything from my screenshots because I have nothing special.

Adaptive battery and put unused apps to sleep are known troublemakers.
Android will manage very well without them.
Any power hogs deal with on an individual case by case basis. Optimize it; flipping a toggle switch isn't optimizing
At the most, simply close that app when done with it. The Brave browser is real bad like that if you don't close it out.
Your results may vary... play with it; WYSIWYG.
As for Apple, it's a closed platform one trick pony and it sucks.
As for Android, you get what you put into it.

There is a reason why iOS has at least 60% market share in the US.

Yes, too many people have no imaginanation, want things easy, and have the manufacturer make their decisions for them. Apple and iOS is the go to for such individuals.

Or, it's because the basics actually work on iPhones.
And, those basics are important to people.
Steve Jobs was right about one thing: The sheep outnumber us.
They use their numbers and money to get a better app experience for themselves.
Developers develop for sheep, not for Android Joes.

Well that depends what basics are to you.
To me it's just gonna be able to install any app I want and not being insulted by a closed and proprietary system.
If basics is just messages/calls/Facebook/snapshat just like 70% of the US teenagers then you can buy a 200$ phone for that.
But no, I see my nephew, He needs to get in the club, not to be different of the mass.
But tbh your arguments doesn't apply in the rest of the world, even in European countries where Samsung is still the leader and Chinese brands are hype

The basics work on Android. Or they do for me at least.
Read into that what you wish.
Well I love android . Really but the notifications delay driving me crazy
I have s21 ultra . Honestly brilliant peace of hardware but with a very problematic bug in the notifications area.
Some apps send notifications without any issues but some apps don't. And when I'm unlock my screen it bombs my device like crazy.
I will try this add solution
Hope it will work for me

Yes, please let me know if this adb solution works for you.
We need to reach out to Samsung and/or Google about this.
