Enable screen on/off during calls only
Disable call handling completely

Override power button and screen-on by other apps (Phone is in pocket and you get a call or you accidentally press the power button, screen will remain off)

Looks nice
Sent from my SGH-T989 with Cyanogenmod 9 Nightly Power.

Trying it out now. Pro version looks great! Just testing it out for a week to test battery drainage.

Saves from repeatedly using hardware buttons thanks

Really really good concept. Couldn't get it work on my Droid 4 (running ICS custom ROM), however. The meter for the light sensor and proximity sensor registered, however I could never get it to actually lock......

That's strange, can you check if the app has been added to device administrators list under system settings-> security?
BTW can you screen on?

Version v3.3 is out with lot of fixes and features:
☀ Fixed the InCallOnly mode, sensor is active only during the senor, thereby saving power.
☀ Added new battery saving feature: "De-Activate sensors after timeout". You can set a value in minutes and sensors will be de-activated after timeout and re-activated only when screen turns on.
☀ Upgraded the Ignore list UI and included even the system apps.

This app is absolutely fantastic!! Idk why this hasn't been thought of before, you did an excellent job! The app works great on my HTC Rezound, I haven't used my hardware power button in a while!

My volume rocker broke and i used it to wake my phone when i took it out of my case. Is there a way to set this app so when i take it out it wakes my phone? Hope so....

I have it set so it wakes and puts it to sleep, setting it gave down our porting it in my pocket puts it to sleep and taking it out our flipping it over wakes it up

Bug report:
With the Vibrate On setting activated and in an ignored application....phone still vibrates when hand over sensor. Other than that, everything I have tried works flawlessly.

hi!! i've tried the lite version and it doesn't work... i configured the sensors on the advanced menu and still nothing.
I have an atrix 4g, stock rooted gingerbread 2.3.6 with fingerprint lock on.
when i select the secondary app on the main menu (the one that supposed to turn off the screen) it just locks it..

I found one other interesting thing. It isn't a bug, just more a comment and something to think about. It
Your app:
Flip/Cover mode activated. Turn screen off manually (using power button). Trigger sensor......uncover sensor.....Screen turns on.
vs
Your competitor (Smart Screen Off):
Equivalent Flip/Cover mode activated. Turn screen off manually (using power button). App is now disabled until screen turns on manually.
I'm not sure which you find more convenient or if that is intended behavior in your app....but obviously, your competitor did something else. Its just something to think about....maybe add an option so your app can accomplish both behaviors. I dunno. Overall, I think you have a great app (better then Smart Screen Off in many ways)

No. the point is to avoid using the hardware keys as much as possible as there is growing concern that the buttons can (and probably will) stop working from over use.

definately a very cool application... i'm wondering tho, why would we need to worry about the buttons? are they different than any other device which we used to press the buttons on?
Unless I'm missing something you still have to press the power button to turn the screen back on. So it's sort of half a button saviour.

Agreed. I don't get this button thing. Why stop using the buttons on the off chance they stop working? Why save the buttons if you're not going to use them anyway? Strange. I could understand using this if the buttons have already stopped working.
It's like buying a car but never driving it in case the tyres wear down.

thanks for that explanation I was thinking the same
i have noticed my 'home' button has started to click loud
I've been using my phone over a year now and Android since the summer, buttons work fine.. Could be possible that some users are more unlucky with their hardware. However, it will only take a couple of days of use for this to be just as seamless as pushing the button, in fact easier!
Pagnell: The fact that you use the button 50% less is the key reason for using this widget, would be silly with a 100% replacement. And as I said, after a day or two I'm sure it's more convenient

I simply don't get the logic behind trying to save buttons you're not using by utilizing applications like this. Buttons are for using, not saving, otherwise you may as well not have them.

Quick Flashlight Access

I was wondering what people do for flashlight capability on their phones. Which app/widget do you use? How do you access it? How quickly can you get to it when you need it? Maybe it's just me, but I like having access to a light quickly and easily.
I've gone through a few methods:
1. First I was using the assistive light widget on my home screen because it has virtually no delay and a very built-in look to it, but it's just too dim and the brightness cannot be adjusted. And to use it, I have to get to my home screen first.
2. I started using the smart flashlight widget, which uses the full brightness capabilities of the camera flash LED. It also looks nice but has a slightly longer delay than the assistive light. Still, it's just a widget and to use it I first have to turn on the display, swipe to unlock the phone, and then click the widget.
3. I wanted faster access, so I tried using a home screen widget. Tiny Flashlight + LED has one, but that still requires turning on the screen, swiping (1 or more screens) to the flashlight widget, and then clicking on a full-screen button. Still not very speedy or efficient, and I'm not a fan of the "multiple widgets" lock screen anyway.
4. Just now I set things up using Tasker, which allows you to automate a flashlight using the TeslaLED tasker plugin. Basically I set it up so that when the lockscreen is visible, the TeslaLED flashlight is toggled by shaking the phone. So far it seems pretty efficient but I'm a little concerned it will misfire on me.
It would be cool to turn on the flashlight with a combination of hardware buttons, or have a toggle button as one of the quick apps on the lock screen, but I don't think either of those options are possible.
So for anyone else who likes quick access to their flashlight, what do you do?
With the screen off I use the long volume up toggle from wanam. With the screen on I use the stock widget.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
Wanam for sure. Of course you need root. Without root I've used both the assisting light and smart flashlight.

How to add a Power Off Button in the Status Bar?

I have a Rooted Note 4 (T-Mobile) N910T 6.0.1
I would like to add a Power Off Button (Actually just sleep - not actual power off)
I had TEKXodus N4 ROM on it for a bit - but I had issues with it and went back to Stock Firmware.
TEKXodus N4 has a great little Power Off Button at the top right corner of the status bar.
I am looking for a way to do that.
Does GravityBox do that? (It's been a long time since I used GravityBox)
Thanks!
Edit Note:
I did find that the launcher I use (Nova Launcher) has a setting I can use to make a Gesture - Screen Lock - that works well and does not affect Air Wake either)
Some of the Screen Off and Lock Apps seemed to kill AirWake when I tried them a while ago)
The only problem with using a gesture in NOVA Launcher is: It Locks the Screen vs just turn off the Screen (like hitting the power button does).
I use Smart Lock when at home and work - wifi - locations and all I have to do is use airwake to wake it up, then swipe the screen
If I use the NOVA setting it locks my Note 4 and I have to Swipe fingerprint or if using a pin enter it
I know it can be done as it is in TEKXodus N4 ROM I used - I just had too many random reboots (Even after completely wiping all but ext SD Card 4 x)

Yeah.. I had similar issues when watching YouTube videos on that ROM.. :/
Look into all in one gestures on the play store. You can set up single or double tap, and long press gestures to the status bar.
I used it on one rom to bring down the brightness slider in a floating little window when i held down the status bar as it was missing from the notification panel...
I found an app that does just this!
"Screen off via short timeout" DYNA Logix
I can tap the screen off icon and then later I can wake up with say Air Wake and my fingerprint
Every other app I found messed with SmartLock and Finger Print unlock

Disable Swipe Down Menu on Lockscreen

Is there a way to disable the swipe down menu on the lockscreen? The whole point of the phone being locked is so that I can only access the info/notifications.
Well if I can just swipe down while on the lockscreen and see the previewed text/who o missed a call from/email etc it kinda makes locking the phone pointless.
Any idea how to disable that feature? I feel like I'm just missing it but IDK?

I can still drag the pull down menu when the screen is locked.
Anyone can turn on/off Audio, Flashlight, Blue light filter, Do Not Disturb, Auto Rotate, Always On Display, Sync, Edge Lighting, Dolby Atmos, Night mode, Bixby Routines and Navigation bar settings. Either I am missing something or allowing anyone unfettered access to the settings on the locked screen is a new feature of the OS.
I want to completely disable/hide the pull down menu on the locked screen. If I need to do anything on the phone with the exception of making emergency calls and using the camera, I should first login with the pattern, fingerprint or facial recognition. A Samsung rep responded to a post similar to this on the Samsung community forum that only a third party app can completely disable that pull down menu. smh. I really hope someone here found a way to disable that menu.

I've installed it yesterday, so I have little to say so far. Security updates are from September 2018. I've installed 17 apps. Performance and battery life are average, for now it runs quite stable (no overheating, no sudden reboots and freezes). Only sometimes (very rarely) I get "settings are not responding" error, when I try to browse it. There are dozens of options to customize (Ashes panel). I'm going to use this this ROM for a few more days to test it.

OK, so after couple of days, this ROM works rather stable for me. Just like I've said earlier, security updates are old (October 2018). Overal performance and battery life are average (PixysOS V1 Oreo ROM for S3 is faster - probably because is VERY slim, and LOS14.1 has better battery life).
This ROM has so-called "Ashes panel" which contain a dozen or so options to customize. But unfortunitly for me, the ROM itself and the panel lacks option to remap hardware buttons. So, there is no working hardware "recents apps" button, which is bad news for me. But there is option to turn on the navigation bar, where it is possible to set "recent apps" virtual button. Unfortunately, for me, the navigation panel is broken. This bug is weird. After I turned on navbar, and reboot the phone, 10 seconds after the system was loaded, the screen went black... but the touch panel was still working!! Because when I pressed power button for 2 seconds, the vibrations told me that the menu appear, and when I blindly pressed "turn off" option (I didn't see it, I just knew where it was), the phone turns off. I thought I'll need to flash this ROM again to get rid of navbar, but somehow I was able to get into the control panel very quickly and disable navbar before screen went black. I don't know if it's only broken on my phone or on other S3s too.
Anyway, this was the most serious bug I've encounter while testing this ROM. Apart of that, like I've said before, when I browse settings, sometimes (very rarely) I got error: "settings are not responding". And also one of the two built camera apps (not that black one) sometimes is acting crazy, like when I tried to take a panoramic photo, and the camera went nuts and started to snap pictures on its own! LOL. It was soooo funny, and also scary LOL.
So apart of broken (for me) navbar, I guess this ROM is OK for daily work (for me), I'm using my phone for: browsing Instagram, Facebook and VKontakte, using Chrome and Google News, checking weather and play store, sometimes for maps and GPS tracker for walk/bike, sometimes to listening to DI.FM radio, taking photos and videos, and some minor operation on files. During these few days, I never got sudden reboot or freeze (and I have not installed "go mode"), also no overheating. :good:

SMS configuration
Hi, I've installed yesterday the ROM and it works flawlessy so far but I've not find the way to configure device to Send/Recieve the SMS.
It's not a matter of SIM because the same SIM on another device works as aspected.
How to set/configure the device for the SMS service?
Regards,
Marco

Really strange, because the same SIM in another smartphone withe same APN configuration send/receive SMS.
Random reboot
Home button not Wake up while display off
I came back to this ROM and I noticed that RAM management with android_lowram_enabler AKA "go mode" is much worse than without, which makes the ROM unstable. This is weird, because it's not supposed to be in this way (I guess). Maybe this "go mode" is not optimized for S3, maybe there are some conflicts, I don't know. Maybe my phone's broken (I doubt it!).
All I know is this, without "go mode", even with heavy load and switching between apps, each one was stable. But with "go mode", the amount of RAM drops veeeeery quickly, and apps become unstable, which leads to reboots.
I'm monitoring RAM with app called "RAM Monitor", it has flowing interface, so I can see exactly how much of free RAM is available at any time. When I installed my set of apps, and I used them, after a few hours, with "go mode" it was only 100-150 MB free RAM, and if I started to open apps, they started to be unstable. So I've cleared out everything - made a clean ROM install, then I installed everything again, and without "go mode", under the same conditions, it was 250-300MB Yes, that's twice. I've checked it all out a couple of times. This is not a one-time observation.
But it all really doesn't matter This is the same as the Viper v5.2 Oreo ROM.
With "go mode", no sudden, itself reboots, but very unstable behavior of some applications, bad RAM management.
Without "go mode", the system can reboot itself at any time, but the apps are working fine, very good RAM management. Tonight, late at night, after just few hours of working, it started to reboot to recovery mode.
So that leaves me with PixysOS V1, which so far is the most stable Oreo ROM for S3 I've tested. Probably because it's so incredibly bare bone

-for random reboot fix use android go mode and enable zram on kernel manager
-home to wake option not include in this rom because this rom dont have this feature.
Hi, I've just installed this ROM and it's working really well (better than any other I tried on the S3) but the call screen doesn't work. I can still make and recieve calls but the screen is black the whole time so I can't use speaker or keypad during a call. I can't even hang up. Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks,
J
On this rom works hotspot? Thanks
