TWRP Bootloop [FIXED] - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Howdy all,
Got a wee tiny problem here. I had recently decided to update my recovery mode to TWRP to allow me to perform backups of my system as i am not fully trusting of technology and ran into a wee roadblock. My phone is now stuck in a bootloop to recovery mood, well i did some digging online and found a few guides to fixing this issue. All the guides require me to use odin which for some reason does not work on my computer, everytime i try to use it i get an error message of:
<5> StartThread Detected : 0
<6> StartThread Detected : 0
<7> StartThread Detected : 0
<8> StartThread Detected : 0
<1> --- cannot open the usb serial port. code: 32
So again i went digging online and found a few fixes uninstalled the nokia suite on the computer, disabled the kies service on startup, made sure it wasn't in my running processes, tried every USB port, tried numerous reboots and all to no avail.
I don't have access to another computer to be able to run odin on and i absolutley need my phone.
So can anyone on here help me, im going stir crazy and have ran short of ideas for fixing
Mucho Gracias

Some solutions:
- Delete odin
- Clean Registery (sometimes it works)
- Delete KIES and reboot pc. Delete any file regardin to KIES!!
- Reinstall only the Samsung USB drivers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
- Open Odin with admin rights and try again
- Use another PC
Good Luck

Thanks for the advice after 9 hours i finally got it working. It took me copying the folder i was trying to use onto my E:/ drive and then to run it from there.

[Q] Odin stuck at: <1> setup connection...

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830, with the following info:
- Android Version: 2.2.1
- Baseband Version: S5830JXKC1
- Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-perf
- Build Number: Froyo.JPKC2
- Connected to a Laptop running Windows 7 Enterprise fully updated with hotfixes, updates and drivers.
I’m tying to Install the new gingerbread 2.3.4 update from samfirmware, but every time I run Odin and try to update, the process stops at: <1> setup connection...
I tried to:
- Use a different laptop.
- Use a different cable.
- Use a newer version of Odin (old was 4.38, new is 4.42).
- Kill the Kies processes in my laptop using task manager.
- Update Kies to the latest version.
- Uninstall Kies and it's related files.
- Update my laptop motherboard and USB drivers.
- Reinstall the Samsung Mobile Phone USB drivers.
- Select different settings in Odin (Debugging mode / PDA mode... etc).
none of the above worked
help?
If you did this question may sound stupid but I should ask anyway...
Did you boot to download mode?
How to put into download mode
1. On an OFF state, press VolumeDown+HomeButon+Powerbutton (hold them together until you see the download mode screen (small yellowish/gold/orange color)
Hope we were able to help you.
It worked
Okay, your question was not stupid, I do feel stupid however :/ apparently I was doing this:
- Holding Down Volume Up + Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button!
It loads a screen that says "Emergency Download Mode", which I assumed was the correct loading screen since it does show on Odin...
I was wrong; I should have just done this:
- Holding down Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button!
In which it does load the correct download screen with the yellowish message that say "Downloading…"
Thanks a million guys, this one gave me a heart attack yesterday
I have problem upgrading my Ace too,

Something is messed up with your PC's USB drivers. Get an updated set of your Chipset drivers for your motherboard, uninstall and reinstall Kies, or switch to a different PC.

Jeah, he has problem with USB(drivers or change to other USB).
CHEERS!
Thanks to everyone who gives their advice.
Finally the problem is from the PC, probably some USB device clash with odin. After using another PC, I am able to flash my ace now.
Thanks again.

[SOLVED] Galaxy Ace S5830 - Soft Brick - Need help!

Heya Guys,
So I had been playing with my Galaxy Ace recently, and I managed to Soft brick it.
But unfortunately I cannot seem to recover it.
What happened:
I had rooted my OFW and decided to try Cyanogenmod 7.2. All was going well.
Then I read about this firmware; http://michielv.eu/2012/10/12/boost-your-samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830i/
M!-U! Rom, so I looked it up on XDA and found 2.2.1patched, and flash that.
On reboot I got a black screen. No boot. OH ****!
I did find if I do the battery trick I can get into download mode. Screen still black.
The problems is I cannot flash ANYTHING using Odin. (tried 1.85 & 4.38 on 2x Win7 machines & 1x XP machine)
Odin recognizes the phone in download mode (Yellow square) but when I try to flash, it gets stuck on
"<>1 Setup Connection"
Tried updating the Samsung drivers and using different ports, nothing is working.
Tried a USB Dongle, no luck.
I do have a full CWM backup on the SD, but I cannot get into recovery mode.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get Odin working (I'm on a Win7 machine) I'd really appreciate it..
Thanks,
Brik
Maybe Odin is outdated. Also did you check the one package option in Odin while flashing? Also, try using a different USB cable. Try this website- androidadvices.com....go to the galaxy ace section and follow the steps EXACTLY.
If everything fails, go to a service centre and say that your device got bricked while updating from kies.... You need to appear very angry and absolutely convinced that it's not your fault. Then they'll probably repair it.
Best if luck.
Swyped from My Galaxy Ace.
A thanks would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply! I've used Odin v4.38 & v4.42 (those recommended for S5830) and even tried 1.85 and 3.07.
None work. Tried a different cable and that didn't work either.
Can you provide an direct link to androiddevices.com? No sure what "Steps" I should look at..
If I have no luck by Monday, I'll take it back..
Thanks!

Tried that but still no luck.
It seems I can get into "Emergency Recovery Mode" (Up+Down+Home+Power) Only. Cannot get download mode,,
Odin still recognises the phone (yellow square) but will not flash...
Ok, since I couldn't get it into download mode I returned the phone to place of purchase and got a replacement.

Wrong CWM Hardbicked?

Hi i have made a very bad mistake and have installed CWM intended for the 5830i on my 5830 the phone turned off straight away.
Now it will not boot looks dead.
I can get into download mode odin detects it but i cannot see anything on my screen. Then when i start odin i get to:
<5> StartThread Detected : 0
<6> StartThread Detected : 0
<7> StartThread Detected : 0
<8> StartThread Detected : 0
<1> setup connection...
That's it, just hangs there.
Is my 5830 hardbricked?
Is there a way around it?
Would a jig be of any benefit?

Hi There,
Try reinstaaling the Drivers or updating then or swap the Odin version if no sucess. Then Try Usb Jigg

I9305 usb connection/driver problem

I've added a few apps to my S3 and altered a few things on my PC and now I can't connect via mtp or ptp. It goes through the usual "installing drivers" and then fails. I've tried pulling the battery and removing the sim and micro sd card then putting everything back. Tried it without the card (currently having to transfer files via a card reader so - at least the card's fine) but to no avail.
I've had a go at uninstalling the drivers through the device manager, rebooting and scanning for hardware changes. I've tried downloading the drivers without kies but it didnt work out (I cant remember the site or the url, but ended up with the following file SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones) It didn't auto install but even when I tried to point Windows to the folder on my C drive, nothing.
I've spent a couple of hours trawling the net including on here and tried all sorts.
I'm rooted, using the stock 4.1.2 ROM with Windows 7.
I can't use Kies as when it was installed the first time it wrecked all my Synctoy sync's so I really could do with another option please guys.
Dial *#7284# on your phone to access PhoneUtil and select 'Qualcomm USB Settings' at the bottom.
Now select 'MTP + ADB' and press 'OK' to return to the previous screen. Now press your 'Back' key to exit PhoneUtil. Your phone is now back to default USB operation.

Thanks for the quick reply.I did that and it was set to mtp + adb...
When I then connected it it tried installing the driver and I got..
Driver device software was not installed.
Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed
MTP USB Device X Failed
I tried updating the MTP drivers again from device manager but this time got
Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
SAMSUNG Mobile MPT Device
This device cannot start (code 10)
From what I'm reading it's a computer error not the phone. Can anyone suggest a new set of drivers to download (that doesnt involve Kies) as I've had issues with picking up harmful software from random sites when I've been struggling to find drivers.
I tried using the suggestion at the bottom of here r.e.Portable Devices and deleting the Upperfilters string Link but also to no avail.
Oh, and yes I've tried different ports and cables.
Well that's me done for the evening! I've tried everything mentioned in this thread including updating java and windows media player and all the afformentioned stuff but still no dice.
Could it be the actual drivers or a random windows 7 setting that I haven't yet tweaked since my clean install of windows??

Cheers, yeah, I was going to try them but I wasn't at my pc at the time I wrote that. I've downloaded the exe package but now it seems there are still drivers to uninstall - I uninstalled the drivers through device manager and went into my C drive and removed the SAMSUNG folder with the USB drivers in it. I'll restart the pc and hope that helps with the removal....

Having the same problem. but I am on 4.3 rom using carbon rom a few days then transferred to pac man rom. My cellphone is not detected in my computer but it is being detected in the safely remove usb options. I tried to use a usb otg cable and a flash disk. No notification is seen on my phone but I can access the files on the flash disk (using usb otg cable) in the file manager. Tried the *#7284# but error occurs and says connection problem or invalid MMI code. I found that MTP udb device says failed

It made no difference whatsoever. I used a utility to check for an remove the samsung drivers (USBDeview) as well as uninstalling through device manager and removing with windows "products and features" but even then, when I tried installing the new drivers it mentioned previous drivers. I restarted after each stage of the process.
I've even tried connecting it in download mode and it shows in device manager.
Could there be some remnant of the software I used to root that phone that might be causing the issue??
I'm due to leave the country in 5 days and have loads of things to sort (also have a family member going into hospital for major surgery tomorrow) so I can't just devote all my time to this - but I need to at least know that it's not the phone (I dont have another win 7 computer to try it on).

I'm due to leave the country in 5 days and have loads of things to sort (also have a family member going into hospital for major surgery tomorrow) so I can't just devote all my time to this - but I need to at least know that it's not the phone (I dont have another win 7 computer to try it on).

[Q] Issue with adb, device not listed, tried everything

Heya everybody ! So I got me a Galaxy gear yesterday and I was eager to get home and root it and put a custom rom on it, since I need it for some apps + I got a Htc m7. So I get home, connect it to my macbook, (noticed that the usb debugging was already switched on) and ran adb. I'm no stranger to adb and fastboot but far from a pro (I just read tons of instructions and learn simple commands) So After running ./adb devices I just get the List of devices : and an empty list.
I've tried it on another mac, same thing. On 2 different PC's with win 7 and 8, same thing.
On the macs I've deleted any apps that might have anything to do with such drivers like Android file transfer.
Updated the adb_usb.ini vendors.
on the pc's Ive uninstalled and installed over and over all the drivers and still get the same problem.
+ I've tried all types of adb's, downloading the sdk over and over again with no result.
I even tried restoring the device a couple of times and even reinstalled the stock rom with Odin.
I've done pretty much everything I can find on the net on how to fix this issue.
Can you guys please help me with some Ideas ?
P.S
in adb I've tried the ./adb kill-server about a 100 times, so have I restarted each pc/mac 100 times and changed between every usable usb port.
One this I notice that on my mac when I go to the "device manager"/"system report", Under USB it says TIZEN with this info :
Product ID: 0x6860
Vendor ID: 0x04e8 (Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.)
Version: 4.00
Serial Number: 441f900f41018dc9
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: Samsung
Location ID: 0x1d110000 / 8
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 96
Oh the gear :
Model : SM-V700
Software version : V700XXuCNF1
I would appreciate any ideas and comments ! Thank you guys !!!
Add :
Oh and also Cydia Impactor can't find the device.(forgot to mention it)
Add 2 :
Oh and on the PC I installed and uninstalled Kies a couple of times.
Your gear isn't using android sdk. It's using Tizen. Download this sdk.

I just installed it, and I'm kinda lost. Cant find anything in it which I know how to use ? Any pointers on what to do after installing this SDK ?
Edit:
I tried using the sdb as adb and still I get an empty list.
Did install it on both my mac and pc. and it's like nothings changed.
EDIT LAST :
Ok so I ran this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2770183&page=13
from Odin to my device, and now my SDB finds my device. but I still cannot install apk files and not sure should i flash a recovery now and actually pretty confused on whats going on.
