[Q] Need help deciding which Samsung galaxy s3 to buy? - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Can some please help me understand if its better to buy
Samsung galaxy s3 with 2Gb RAM/ dual core proc
OR
Samsung galaxy s3 with 1Gb RAM/ quad core proc
I don't change phone every year, so I will be using it for long. I'm not sure if its good to have more RAM or better PROC for long run.
Note: I want to be able to keep my phone updated for as long as I have it (2/3 years) roughly.
Thanks for your Help in advance.

i9305 quad core lte with 2gb ram

As you're considering a dual core with LTE I assume you're from North America. In that case I'm not sure if the new quad core S3 with LTE (i9305) will work in your region, as that's the one I would suggest waiting for if the LTE bandwidth would work in that region. That's of course assuming LTE is a selling point for you.
Hopefully someone else can clarify this.
If you're in Europe then the dual core with 2GB and LTE would be a waste and again I would recommended the upcoming i9305.

Thanks you for your replies.
Unfortunately i9305 is not available India.
We only have the S3 with quad core/1GB ram here and it works with 4G LTE on my network. If having more ram is important that having more powerful proc, I will settle for S3 with dual core/2GB ram.
I could wait for galaxy note 2 it's launching here but it's too big for every day use.

US Variants

Can these roms be used for some Us variants. The specs seem the same.
How can you say the specs seem to be the same when they are COMPLETELY different? The only thing the same is the ram & LTE but even the LTE bands are all different... The US variant only has Dual Core Snapdragon when the I9305 is a Quad CORE Exynos

There are US variants of the M3, especially for T-Mobile. Calm down.
So your saying there are I9305 being sold in the US on Plans? I am sure US t-mobile has the 1900 band but thats not LTE, I wouldnt think they would sell these on a contract knowing the LTE wont work.. Unless there is a whole new version with Exynos Quad/2GB ram and runs on the american LTE? Which one is this?
I have heard of someone in america using the I9305 but it was the European/Australian Variant. And there is the I9305T which is Telstra Australia Variant and another European company has there own model the I9305N... But yeh I never heard of America having there own Model of the I9305.
Edit: when the op mentioned At&T it triggered the snapdragon thought lol which i know are pretty different, and it is why i said they were, And I was calm by the way I seem to use caps when i want to emphasize words

Variants (3G, LTE, etc)

Hi,
I'm buying the S5 today and wondering about which variant I should buy? I can't find any info regarding this (which one is 4G, bands, etc). Even tried Google... Any help is appreciated.

If you live in an area with LTE coverage and plan to use it, go for the Snapdragon 801 variant. Look for the specs on the box, if you find the LTE logo and LTE bands listed as well as a 2.5GHz Quad-core CPU type, that's the one. The Exynos version will list HDSPA+ at connectivity and say 2,1GHz Quad core + 1,5 GHz Quad Core, indicating the 8 (4+4) core SoC, that one doesn't have LTE.

Would you mind downloading CPU-Z from Play and posting a screen shot?

This is the LTE model being sold in US?
This isn't the US model as it doesn't exist here yet. But it looks like it's using the Intel LTE modem which should support US bands. Anyone willing to import it? Or just wait for AT&T to carry it. Hopefully soon.
I am waiting for the 10.5 LTE on Verizon. Since the WiFi versions are getting great reviews, I was hoping it would be available by now.
I spoke with a manager at a Verizon store who said they just launched the Z2 tablet, and they like to space out tablet launches. I found it curious that they had so many Samsung models out, it was hard to keep track of them all.

Note 4 Exynos 5433 Vs. Snapdragon 805

I plan on upgrading to the Note 4 from my SGH-T889 on the Magenta Network (T-Mobile) but im stuck on which variant to get. All U.S. models are Snapdragon while others regions are Exynos. Im wondering if I should get T-Mobiles (Snapdragon) or International (Exynos)
■Exynos Chipset Specs:
CPU
4x A53 Cores at 1.3 Ghz
4x A57 Cores at 1.9 Ghz
GPU
Mali T760 at 700Mhz
Additional Info:
Its 8 cores, runs in 32bit mode but is 64 bit. It is built on a 20 process. It has better battery due to big.LITTLE configuration.
■Snapdragon Chipset Specs:
CPU
4 cores at 2.7 Ghz
GPU
Aderno 420 <===(hehe 420)
Additional Info:
It has a faster sigle core speed, better than the Snapdragon 800, only runs in 32 bit.
I don't know too much about this chipset.
According to various(that I have seen) benchmarks the Exynos configuration outperforms the Snapdragon in everyway. But I hear that there isn't much [custom rom support] for the Exynos chips. Im also considering the fact the Note 4 might be considered in the lineup of getting Android L which is a 64 bit Operation.
Tell me what your plan and reason of choice.
Also can you help me link this to the other Note 4 Q&A Fourms, thank you.
Because they are by the carriers

Get the 805. Its faster and hasore development support. The exynos ones usually don't get ROMs and kernels for months. Oh, and the battery is usually slightly better.
I still haven't figured out whether the Exynos version will work on Tmo and give me fast internet speeds. I am currently using the Exynos Note 3 on AT&T and am stuck with their H/H+ Internet. It's not slow by any means, but having LTE would be a bonus. I'm unfamiliar with Tmobile's non-LTE speeds since I haven't switched to their network yet.
T-Mobile 4g LTE speeds I think is 11.2 Mbps, which is still faster than AT&T
If you go international then your going to suffer on connectivity with the tmobile network.
Tmobile just bought up new frequencies that will allow for great building penetration and more high speed lte for cheaper and even in rural areas...the tmobile(and prob even at&t) note 4 is one of the only phones so far that can take advantage of these new frequency bands.
Also tons of amazing developers have tmobile and tend to stick with it....
I doubt much of the 64 system features will even be exploited right off the bat with android L considering hardly any phones even run 64... once it's more widespread then you'll see system updates that really utilize the system.... guessing that's a couple years out though
Doesn't the international version have the same antenna bands as the US meaning that it will get LTE.

The HSPA or whatever, that one is like 12mbps. But LTE in my experience is 30mbps. That was a year ago in a small town, I'm sure it's at least as fast if not faster in this slightly bigger cityish area.
But I'm wondering the same thing as the OP: will the factory unlocked international model support all the same bands on the Tmo network as the Tmo model?
From what i gather tmobile uses 1700/2100 MHz AWS for LTE
The Exynos version doesnt have the 1700 band, so i guess no LTE?
Debating what version to get and i want FULL LTE in USA and maybe Japan.

Another Note 4 Variant with Snapdradon 810

See this

well i would feel sad if i had the snapdragon note 4 but mine is exynos so i suppose this is to keep both variants 64bit
Only the SD 810 will most probably be more powerful than Exynos 5433 due to 14nm build which would result lower power consumption and higher clocks. Plus the more powerful Adreno 430.
I remember discussing the possibility of the Note 4 may get SD810 variant before it was available to buy, but the idea was dismissed by others
I just thought this since the S5 originally had SD801 variant but then later released with SD805 chip.
SD 810 is 20 nm chip, same as exynos 5433
https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/810
This will probably go the same route as the Galaxy S5 Snapdragon 805, Galaxy S4 LTE-A Snapdragon 800 etc... And be launched in a few countries if not just South Korea.
People who think this will replace the 805 model need to be logical, the 805 Note 4 is by far the most popular in terms of units as it covers the USA, Western Europe and parts of Asia and Africa, so it would cost Samsung a lot, having to recreate a 810 variant for those countries.
This will have limited availability, and when will it be launched? After the S6 probably? Lets get real here.

Ah right, I may got mixed up with Exynos 7420.

That's a common thing in Korea as most Koreans can enjoy faster download speed due to consistent upgrades in which forces the manufacturer and carriers to upgrade in order to take advantage on increasing download speeds and processor clock speeds and this trend started when LTE-A was launched there and only Snaprdragon 800 can utilise the technology due to its new modem and the result it was the Galaxy S4 LTE-A(SHV-E330S/K/L) until Galaxy S5 LTE-A(SM-G906S/K/L with Snapdragon 805) was released due to another LTE speed upgrade and i will not be surprised if that happens again.
