AOKP is an awesome custom Android firmware. (just like MIUI and CyanogenMod).
AOKP is based on AOSP and looks as vanilla as possible, and focusses on lots and lots of user-friendly features. What makes it different from CM is that there are many more user-customizable features.
KANGXPERIAPROJECT
This ROM is a combined work of all members of KangXperiaProject.
AOKP is not officially supported on any of the Xperia smartphones. So we made a Kang XperiaProject team comprising
Supervenom , Championswimmer, Pikpok, mikegapinski
We maintain sources from which we build (not winzip porting) AOKP for all the Xperias.
We are not any great developers (all teenagers). We are just trying to provide users with more ROM options
Our work is not possible without using sources from FreeXperiaProject.
Changes to the UI / framework / functionality of the ROM is the work of Team Kang
Changelog is released with every official build here ---> http://aokp.co
Changes specific to Xperia devices are maintianed by us here
http://code.google.com/p/kangxperia/wiki/Changelog
BUGS / NOT-WORKING
FM Radio - does not work
hotspot - could be unreliable
To report issues/bugs or make feature requests please go to

GAPPS download
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
Copy ROM zip and Gapps to sdcard
If coming from stock, flash kernel that has recovery using fastboot (not needed if you have recovery)
Boot phone, go into recovery (press vol-up(2012) or back(2011) when led is purple)
IF COMING FROM SOME OTHER ROM, make factory wipe then go into mounts/storage and format system (not needed if updating AOKP)
install zip from sd card then flash gapps if you want them (kernel is flashed automatically with zip for 2012 models, for 2011, fastboot flash the kernel)
reboot and enjoy

It needs us to devote our precious time, and often we need to spend money to maintain the build machines, hosts and other stuff. Hmm, the Xperia T is NOT on the list of the supported devices yet but "mint" is the name of the Xperia T?
If yes, is the aokp port for the xt jellybean or ics-based?
I still have one and I am very interested in this.

I have the phone and I would be interested in maintaining the tree and configs etc. I've done quite a bit of work on CM and AOKP for my other devices.

hop on !!! we need you
as you see right now we are using the cm tree directly as such... we will need to at least fork the blue-common and kernel to suit our needs...
we have our gerrit too at smartdev.com.pl:8080
since you have done aokp/cm work, you won't need much time getting seasoned i guess
my email is
[email protected]
add me on gtalk and PM me your email too will add you to the project

Cwm is in kernel
Just fastboot mine

Wait. How is CWM in the kernel? Is it that Xperia devices have a dual layer kernel - one for recovery and one for boot?

The Rom boots and works to the same extent as CM. right now I am strapped for time but I will help maintain the tree when I can.
Just away to send you an email.

Can I ask that you please clearly state in the OP that this work is untested by you as you don't have this device and that users may potentially have issues. This is just to cover your own back really. As I see tilal6991 will be getting involved who has the device and that's great but for the time being it's still correct that you are releasing an untested build. You'll notice on maxio's ROM thread he had to add the same which I asked him to do.
Thanks
AvRS

btw i have never really worked on a device before which has spearate Dev and Orig. Dev sections... so i don't know the criteria,
but if it deems suitable, you might move this to original Dev ???
(i did not post it there right away just to be safe )

Thanks for doing that :good:
I'm quite lucky in that case coming from the Galaxy S2 which was the original device to get it trialled on. Check out the Introducing Original Development Forums post which gives a good breakdown of what is to be put in each section. Something like official CM10 would class as original development or Paranoid Android from the PA team. Kang's unfortunately do not class as original development unless you build this from the ground up. Hopefully you'll get what I mean from the portal post I've included
Thanks again

mine is not 'just a kang' to be honest....
it is not a straight forward compile from preexisting source.. but things had to be fixed to compile the CM10 trees with the AOKP source
the name is KangXperiaProject to rezound with the fact that we are the only, although yet unofficial, maintainers of AOKP (Android Open KANG Project) for the whole Xperia line of products.
but anyways, let's get this device forum more populated and both I and you can make better calls on originality
for now, even i feel it's better off not be in orginal dev.

is the recovery page suppose to be upside down here too?

Oh I see this issue I've seen in Dark Passion ROM for TX, the recovery and the whole ROM after flashing is inverted, upside down! The developers are saying maybe I have downloaded the wrong file but I tried it 3 times still the same result.
How to add this line? ro.sf.hwrotation=180
Thanks.

[ROM][AOSP][Linaro]CarbonRom Nightlies/Releases [i9300]

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

This means that they may not work properly, may not flash, may not build for days at a time, and will probably eat your cat. If you flash these, know what you're doing, have backups, and don't complain when something happens. It's on you!

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

I'd love to see more roms using Linaro. Will give this a shot and give feedback!

And how much of a divergence is this jb rom to the one released earlier by a similar team with linaro?
Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 [i9300] » Feb 6
Just downloaded and had a quick look, seems to be pretty much identical to liquid smooth apart from a few changes. Smooth and clean rom. I also like the boot animation, has a sort of retro feel to it.
Good Rom
Smooth and fast.. one thing you should know is that when i flash Siyah kernel the device boot into black screen and won't start. keep up the good work man.
Does this rom have the sudden death fix and the exynos-mem fix? im pretty much sure it has but just want to be on the safe side.:good:
Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 [i9300] » Feb 6
I think we should also thank the original post because whether you are going to use the rom or not it deserves a thanks because it can be difficult making a rom and living upto everyone's expectations. Well done devs.
Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 [i9300] » Feb 6
Impressive ROM even just been using it for only a couple hours. The only thing bugging me at the moment is the tethering, using wpa/wpa2, other device can't connect to it, had to use open (and i hate it as anyone can freely connect to it).
Many thanks for the ROM!

Very nice. Dirty flash over Rootbox with no problems apart from android.process.acore giving me FC's - easily fixed by clearing data on both Contacts and Contact Storage in Apps.
Has the kernel been optimised in anyway only I note that it defaults to 1600Mhz so figured it had - see no point in flashing another kernel if this one isn't just the plain old CM one.
Just waiting on your Grouper release now.....

I've tried flashing other kernel, it give me black screen after samsung logo. But as you said, the kernel seems has been optimised anyway, so not an issue to me as well..

in case anyone is wondering, the delay in seeing the boot animation is due to added support for boot audio. we haven't included any in there, but if you want, you can do so by placing any mp3 named boot_audio.mp3 in /system/media.

More than likely a generic list of features across the board of the devices that Carbon supports. Thats how I read it anyway and its not uncommon for Devs to write it up that way when they support multiple devices.
Supercurio is the person you need to badger in order to bring support to the i9300 alas.

For me it has some serious drawbacks compared to LS:
- no Siyah support, or, phrased differently, Siyah Kernel does not boot. Major issue, actually a no-go.
- Lags. LS is completely smooth, Carbon lags for example in the settings for a second before entering submenus. Did a clean install with full wipe.
So for the moment back to LS, since it seems to be 1:1 the same otherwise.
Greetings!

I think it sounds like a good thing that siyah does not boot. That prevents users to complain about instabilities etc because of siyah kernel's old CM code.

Did, but more input the better. Has the slanted graphics issue that we saw on the first builds of CWM and CM.. Try it, you'll see.. and the phone is actually booting (you'll see it under device from pc when booted) Just can't get adb working yet but I'm sure he'll crack that nut as well.
When I do a . build/envsetup.sh I get 2 git errors.
Don't think that would cause this issue but we only had that with the original jfltespr repo.
So I guess I have some digging to do into this.... when time allows.
going to give this a try right now, will get back to see if the calls work soon.
Update: didn't boot up. I got a black screen and that is it right after the Samsung logo came up

It is but it's not out in their public repos. Caused a bit of problems because they made some commits publicly and some not.
Anyhow it looks like we have a few issues. PA's ramdisk gets distorted boot animation (like we saw with early CM testing) and then goes to black. Think I can get that one into ADB with same edits. Flash CM kernel and no boot animation but USB init goes through - just as mtp (not mtp,adb like in recovery)
So, making a change to CM the init file to start adbd. That ought to get us far enough to peek in and see what's going on. Obviously something is different between the two kernel ramdisks causing a display change.
so it's normal that it's not booting? or should it be booting by now?

It's normal based on current results for it not to boot. That's why it's at Alpha development.
In all honesty I should downgrade it to Pre-Alpha because Alpha suggests it would boot successfully.
Don't worry, when it boots and we get some functionality I'll promote it to Beta testing.
If this CM kernel + AOSPA ROM gets us ADB I'll post that for people to go in and collect logcats.
That may help us track down the issue to at least get display going.

Thanks for the clarification! I can't wait to be able to run this ROM. I would wanna help with logcats but I have no idea how to do any of that.
OK, finally took a peek at this. Turns out there's something wrong with the kernel/ramdisk for sure. System is not mounting, shell folders within /data didn't exist.... which means even the init scripts didn't get far. ADBD did start so it's a clue as to how far it got.
Unfortunately since it's not as far as I hoped it is being downgraded to Pre-Alpha status.

As cm11 since its based on it...
hi, I could download and test this
considering it is based on cm11, it shares same bugs as always in almost all aosp based roms (speaker whistle, no panorama, and very probably reboots even if i didn't experience them so far, but I've been using the rom very shortly so far!)
only exception is omni thanks to tilal and his latest kernel, that has all of the above working (except for the whistle)
so i wonder why everyone still uses cm's kernel and not omni's?
maybe omni's kernel is not public yet?!
btw, in this rom camera button is working
also, it has many nice features (but no halo it seems to me? or where can i find it?)

If that kernel works with cm11, why not, i'll see what i can do.
Halo feature is not there cuz carbon team working on it and it still not merged. I can cherry pick it but the problem is; if i do that, soon as i will sync my repo, i will loose it.
That means i won't keep u up to date as often as i would, considering fact that im still not a pro , and it represents huge work to me to add it on each new build.
I want to give u guys at least a build or two a week. Be patient that function is coming.

As I've said multiple times before the blue screens are random - there is no surefire why of reproducing them or of stopping them with the old kernel. The only way to fix it is to use the new 4.3 kernel sources instead as I have done with omni.

one noob question: for the porters to the xperia T of this rom, liquid smooth and others AOSP based roms, would it be just enough to take your new kernel as it is (maybe just recompile it to make it match with their roms) or they too should take the sony sources as you did and work directly on them?
just to understand if the work would be pretty simple (and so we could have soon different aosp based roms all with almost everything working, like now in omni) or if that is not likely to happen
thanks bye!
