Yep that'll work fine; be wary of buying on eBay as many tend to be fakes. Buy from a trusted reseller. I have got a 6GB for less than £40 delivered.

dunno where ive got this from but i think/heard/got the vibe that the kaiser can only support up to 8gb sdhc?

i get maybe 45 minutes out of a charge on the iPod anymore; it will permanently reside in my car soon enough. Dont get me wrong, the iPod is great and all, but pocket space is at a premium for me, and between wallet, cell/PPC, keys, iPod, ciggs, lighter, and PassCards my pockets are stuffed. If 8GB is the most the Kaiser will support, then so be it.

By the way here comes a new question, I found that all micro SDHC are come with CLASS 2, that means 9mb/s on reading and 5mb/s on writing... a little bit slow? It that necessay to buy a MicroSD Ultra II ?

if you have a 1-2GB micro SD card now, i'd wait a while unless your dying for memory space; they are bound to up the read/write speeds and lower the prices. I teach digital photography, a few years back read/write speeds of memory cards mattered a LOT, nowadays most D-SLR's have a huge cache so a superfast memory card isnt such a big deal, and the prices are fairly decent. My bet is in 6 months an 8 gig Ultra II Micro SDHC shouldnt be more than $60.

6GB Micro SDHCs are available - Sandisk seems to be th eonly real supplier at this moment. I'm sure others will have theirs out soon too. I just bought one from www.mydigitaldiscount.com in the US. Got it with no issues, and I've filled 4.5GB of it with music and video.
8GB MicroSDHCs are targeted for release probably around the end of the year. Again, Sandisk will be the first supplier.
No one has even announced an official "coming soon" statement for anything bigger than 8GB yet.

Kaiser is a real good video player(Using TCPMP), but it also depends on the format.
My favorite, and In my opinion, the best format is .m4v (You may need a special convertor for that)
Other formats are either 2 big, or has really choppy playback.
Also you should increase your font and glyph cache to 32768 (makes things more responsive/ smoother)
the SDA SD Card Association has never quite said the 'maximum' size of a Micro SD; there is a theoretical maximum of 32 GB, hence the 'limit' at the moment, which IMO means merely a new 'type' of SD card in a year or two. as for hardware that reads them, there likely is a maximum size they can read.
Currently Samsung has an 8GB Micro SD in development, Kingston and Sandisk are sure to be right behind anyways. besides, its just a memory card; i have piles of 128MB Memory Stick Pro Duo's that i bought for my Sony S710a when it first came out, and 128MB was still a fairly sizeable card for a cell phone; now we're talking 6-8+ gigs...

That's great advise, I used to play .AVI with TCPMP and it works fine but haven't try to increase the cache, due to my Vario I is limited by its memory
TL;DR I have a cool, but hypothetical, idea for an alternate non-cloud way to access your data
There are many threads in which people are asking (and a few hyper-ventilating and a few ranting) about how they are to access non-cloud data on an N7 in light of the Nexus 7's lack of an SD-card reader. Just to name a few threads, there are: OTG USB cable, Questions About Specs OTG or WIFI Direct, The N7 Supports OTG Through Root, HDMI out and OTG Support and For Those Worried About Lack of Storage (USB-OTG Discussion Thread). And that's just for starters. As of this writing (which may be expired, null and void by tomorrow), the options seemed to boil down like this:
1. OTG (on-the-go) use of USB-based storage. Whether this refers to a way to read a memory card, such as an SD Card, or reading from a thumb/jump/flash drive or from an external USB HDD (hard disk drive) or external USB SSD (solid-state drive).
Concerns and Disadvantages: We don't know yet the voltage of the USB port (or the electrical current load it can sustain), but it's starting to look like maybe 3.3 volts is all she wrote. If that's true, then virtually nothing that is currently available will run off the USB port unless you put a powered USB hub between the N7 and whatever you're trying to read-write from.
I don't know how you feel about dongl'ing a powered hub (or battery-powered hub) between your N7 and your storage (whether that's an SD card in a card-reader or a thumb/jump/flash drive or whatever) , but that's a lot of stuff daisy-chained onto your tablet. Perhaps acceptable when you're at home, but it's sort of Rube Goldberg-ish to think of doing that on the road, in a plane, at a coffee shop. at work....
2. PRIVATE CLOUD. Devices such as the Seagate Satellite (500gb) and the various models (64gb, 32b, 16gb) of the Kensington Wi-Drive have an on-board server and WIFI wireless access point. The Seagate claims 7+ hours (6+ in my experience based on heavy ues) and the Kensington about 4 hours. Other than turning it on, you can leave it in your pocket, backpack, purse or attaché, and it will serve, by wifi, whatever you want.
Concerns and Disadvantages: The 500gb Seagate Satellite is about $150 (if you shop hard). The 32gb Wi-Drive is about $85 and the 64gb Wi-Drive is about $180.
The Satellite is bigger than than the Wi-Drive, but both are bigger than you probably want to haul around with you.
I might... maybe... possibly... have a better idea. But it's hypothetical for the moment.
The Satellite and Wi-Drive have on-board computers (on a chip) and WIFI hardware, but their overall size is maybe more than you want. But if you removed the drive (on the Satellite) or the flash memory (on the Wi-Drive), it would not be so big, even with the battery.
What about a device like the Satellite / Wi-Drive that just reads SD Cards instead? The Satellite and the Wi-Drive are just Linux computers-on-a-chip with a battery. They're sort of like this, I guess. Anyway, what if someone manufactured a battery-powered device whose only job was to serve up, by WIFI (and to create the WIFI environment, as needed) whatver storage appeared on a memory card, such as an SD Card?
What would you pay for something like that?
Heck, I bet that many... several... a few people on this forum could take off-the-shelf components (a Linux computer-on-a-board, WIFI circuitry and a battery, plus a card reader/writer) and make it all work -- and sell it for under $99.
Google / Amazon / Apple / Big Brother, may want us to live within a "cloud envionment" but we don't have to accept that.

Hmmm... perhaps... maybe... I'm not quite the genius that I pretend to be. But thanks, though, I'll look into the AirStash. It seems just a tad overpriced, but it (and the Wi-Drive and the Satellite) is still a solution to nearly everbody's gripe about the N7 with respect to lack of an SD Card slot.
Not sure if i am missing something here but i just use the 64gb sd card on my galaxy note and my to it to access data stored there. I'll do the same with the nexus 7

ES File Explorer will also allow you to do this. It let's you read from LAN, FTP, BT....etc. I was just streaming a movie from my laptop to my Cappy using ES before checking in here. So I'm thinking it may be a viable option when tethering the tablet to my phone except I'll be serving the content from either my phone's internal storage or it's ext sd card.

Maybe I'm missing something but isn't the USB standard 5V? Seems to me nothing would run, including the controllers and such that are supposed to work(?), if 5V was not there. Unless it is something nasty like proprietary accessories only.
As far as current goes, I would think it would support at least a unit load of 100mA if it is standard compliant. I figured this would be enough for sticks or card readers but surprisingly I checked the units that I have and apparently the card reader wants 250 mA, the 8 and 16GB sticks want 300 mA and the tiny 32GB stick I bought last week for cheap wants the full 500 mA. No idea they were so hungry (maybe they aren't and just set high amounts anyways), that might blow my hopes of hooking up that tiny 32GB stick on the go out of the water... I wonder what the guys have have been playing with hooking up mass storage have been using.

I don't get why this is even being discussed. Either 8/16gb is enough for you or this tablet is NOT for you. If you need more storage, you either need 3/4g or an SD card slot and you need to move on. Who is going to walk around with a wifi hard drive in their pocket (not to mention keeping both charged)? Who is going to use a tablet with a hub and a hard drive attached to it? Who is going to use a tablet with a flash drive hanging out of it held in place only by a fragile little micro USB plug? All these solutions mean you'd be better off using a computer.
Either tether it with your phone, only use it at home or forget about it.

I might just because I can.
For the most part I just want a bigger screen to watch movies, browse the internet, and remotely connect to my computer and server and display the x11 using nvc, my phone is too small for it.
16 GB should be fine. I have 2TB on my server for cloud at home and on the go.
But if I could just plug in a usb to the tablet then that would be fine too.
This is only for people who actually open to ideas, not for people who just want to ***** and moan.
I wanna buy the 8GB, for every day use it will be perfect for me, but for the odd case where I go on a long plane journey and don't want to take my tablet, I wondered if there is solution...and then I realised there was, and it's ultra compact.

If your feeling more adventurous, you could go down this DIY route too, very cool and I might be trying this myself

Yeap that's possible, but absent of miniSD card is a big deal breaker for me considering this is just only 8GB - and there's a nice article at http://www.androidpolice.com, why this is so cheap considering this is unlocked phone. It sounds like Google did sacrifice some specs make the cost down and more affordable.
I have Samsung Galaxy S III with 16GB, and plust 32GB sd card, I am already running out space since I save a lot of musics, and games on my sd card and since we all carry the phone with us (not like 10 inch tablet), it makes better sense to have bigger space on your phone.
so really 8GB quite deal breaker.
Don't think that I am *****ing and moanning about it, Nexus 4 specs quite amazing and looks premium quality, and what you said about USB stick would work just fine, but just wanted to share my 5 cent opinion here.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying everyone will be happy with 8GB, I just didn't want people coming in here just to moan. It's down to cost, and if you need more space, that's cool.
16GB is enough for me, and if I need more space I'll use dropbox/google drive
Of course I would prefer microSD slot, but... I guess for 350$ which includes S4 Pro, 2GB RAM, 2100mAh battery, two cameras and its a nexus, we can't complain about anything!!

Yeah, the lack of storage and no sd card for me is also a deal breaker. It's such a shame because I'm really excited about the device. The price here in the UK is so low for what appears to be a high end device, it's amazing. In fact, I've never felt so conflicted about a device. I really want it, but I know it won't hit the mark, purely for lack of storage. With games like NOVA 3 taking up 3GB, plus my sat nav requiring almost 2GB, there won't be much space for other stuff. Data coverage where I live is pretty hit and miss so streaming media from the cloud still isn't a viable alternative for me yet which is a shame. Perhaps it will at least help to drive down the price of other handsets that have high end SoC?
I think the OP's suggestion is a very good one. This approach works well most of the time on a Galaxy Note, as long as it's just a flash drive or micro SD card that the phone can successfully power. I wonder if there would be a way to toggle something like 'directory bind' on and off so that you could put music/media/data files for games on a micro sd card, then just plug it in when you need, change the path of the internal SD card to the external one, then fire up a game. That would be a reasonable compromise from my perspective.

I don't understand the people who want to buy the 8gb version. Its only a little bit more for the 16gb version.
.. and don't say its because you can't afford it.. because if this phone was the same price range as the galaxy nexus or any other high end smart phone you would still buy it.
Just pay that little bit extra and get double the space.
I have a USB-OTG cable and a USB microSD card reader so I would just buy another 16GB/32GB card and carry that around with me. It is easy to take out and plug in and easy to put away when not needed.
Hey guy's. My Girlfriend got a Galaxy Nexus and YES USB-OTG is part of the Chipset Configuration the GN comes with! The Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 Chipset supports OTG as well. In the pure Android-Roms the Nexus Devices are running the Firmware supports OTG by default. As I know it's included in the kernel... so no need to create a problem!!!

buy a LG NEXUS 4 16GB - 349,00€

I use Google Music and sync my photos to my 50GB dropbox account (thank you Samsung!). 16GB is more than I ever need. The only time I get close to using that much is if I'm dual booting 2 different roms.
I do this with my Nexus 7 and plan to continue doing it with the Nexus 4! Really useful when I want to stick a film or tv show on there and watch on the go.

Yes this would work. I personally have done it with my Gnexus and nexus 7. However, you have to be very careful with that thing sticking out of your phone. It could be very easy to knock the phone over or drop it or something and I would be concerned about hurting the stuff inside the phone.
good alternative... currently have the 16GB NS4G and was really excited when i saw the tweet about the N4 and N10 today... disappointed by no Verizon/Sprint compatibility tho... this definitely would've been my next phone if i could use it on these networks...
question about his alternative tho... is 32GB the limit it can read or can you go up to something like 64GB storage as well??

lol no... but i have my hard drive b/c i'm using it to transfer files between people... i mostly just stream Pandora and don't play many games... the space isn't the issue for me really on this device... no cdma is ... but it's great to know there's essentially no limit to the sd/usb car we can add to this!
Why do you need so much space? I'm using an Xperia S right now, with 32GB and I've got over half of it free. 18GB free to be precise, but I haven't been deleting photos and such that I don't need, so they're at 1.3GB.
Was in the process of sourcing parts to follow up suggestions in other threads for making a small external micro SD card reader, and came across these. The memory is fixed at 8, 16, or 32 GB but the price is less than I've been paying for the micro SD cards!

Thanks for that link, I got the 16G version because of the direct plug into the device.. I've been wanting to try out F2FS and you gotta nuke the whole SD to do it, and I didn't really want to transfer it all over USB again. I think this will be much easier to deal with, and faster to transfer files back and forth from the device and get it back up again after formatting.
I'm planning to purchase either
the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive, or
the Kingston DT microDuo, or
the Transcend JetFlash 380S.
They are very similar to each other. I wonder whether they differ on speed etc.
Any reviews based on experience with these or other dual USB drives are very much welcome.

Dunno, but the Kingston linked in my post works great for both USB and MicroUSB on my G2 and N7.

Love it. I now keep all of my TWRP backups and Titanium backups on it. Frees up gobs of space and makes it so easy (and fast!) to transfer files to and from my PC.

I'm glad I got the 32g for just a few bucks more, my N7's whole SD card and a few TWRP's from each device and it's about full Although I could nuke the SD card backup now and free up a bunch of space.
It's a nice device, but almost too small. I'm afraid to carry it anywhere, so I put it in my zip-up earbud case since I carry them with me everywhere.
If you don't want cables or bits that plug in there's another Kingston option 'wireless card reader'

Thanks for posting this- I've just backed it. The $10 early bird with free worldwide shipping is an easy buy from me.
Now let's see someone build it into a case like they do for the batteries (better yet, along with a battery), so we can have a card permanently mounted.
I supported the micro-usb product and though it was delayed significantly (IMO), it worked as promised. I have already backed the USB-C.

Nice, that looks like the Sandisk one I have that is USB micro to USB A, but mine has built in memory and doesn't use a microsd card.
I just found the sandisk wireless flash drive the other day if anyone is looking for an unplugged experience. It works through WiFi, but you don't need internet. Supports up to 128gb cards. I feel like if I had an adapter sticking out of my phone something would get broken fast, even if it was only for 5 minutes. I'm a major butterfingers lol.

I'd usually agree with this, but I plan on using this to watch movies sometimes when I'm on transportation. I' d just put it portrait and prop it up, so probably wouldn't need to touch it too much.
Just so you all know, Monoprice has already made something like this, which is also works with USB A. I can't post a link to amazon due to a new account, but it's called the Monoprice Dual Mode USB-C MicroSD Reader.
