FAQs
+ Q: Whats the difference?
A: Read the disclaimer.
+ Q: Will I get worse performance than the Official CyanogenMod Kernel?
A: It depends on what commits are added. My Kernel only fixes bugs i can fix and which are unsolved and Of course, I will add more features not available in CyanogenMod Official
+ Q: What makes the stock kernel different?
A: You get goodies, and furthermore, better battery life and performance in this project.

More kernel! Cheers!! Happy New Year!

No its based off cm's kernel which had no changes at all to it so it should say its based of aosp kernel.

[ROM][N4] AOKPK [4.4.4] kitkat daily builds

I'm member of AOKP team and I decided to share my personal builds of AOKP ROM called AOKPK.
AOKPK is unofficial AOKP ROM compiled with SM 4.8.3 toolchain (thanks to Paul Beeler) and with some other stuff.
This ROM was created for my personal needs. If you don't like some major part of it, don't ask to change, just use official AOKP builds. But, If you have some tips for minor patches and features, you can ask for it. Just attach link to github/gerrit.
AOKPK is non-CAF and uses my fork of franco.Kernel with latest linux patches and O3 optimized.
So, what is inside?
All official features from AOKP (https://github.com/AOKP, http://gerrit.sudoservers.com/#/q/status:merged,n,z)
Compiled using SM toolchain (https://github.com/SaberMod)
Included forked franco.Kernel (https://github.com/kecinzer/francoKernel_mako) in-line builded with some added stuff
cLock (aka Chronus) with integration into RomControl
Many usefull cherry picks from AOKP gerrit (http://gerrit.sudoservers.com/#/q/status:open,n,z)
I compile ROM at daily basis so consider it as daily builds.
Few days ago I decided to make "stable" build sometimes, when I got good responses from people.
All builds are available on goo.im (http://goo.im/devs/kecinzer/aokpk/mako) with Goo Manager OTA update compatibility.
Temporarly you can download also here (http://aokpk.no-ip.org/mako/).
I recommand TWRP Recovery and Goo Manager (for recieving OTAs).
Please don't ask about changelog, because I adding cherry picks often and it's very hard to keep trail with it. But I'll try to make changelog for "stable" builds.
And please don't expect much of support, because as it's been told - this ROM is primary dedicated for my own needs.
BTW. I also building for FLO and HAMMERHEAD.
Gapps
I use Banks standard - http://goo.im/devs/BaNkS/GApps/4.4.2
If you like my builds you can buy me a beer by "Donate to me" button .

Do you mind if I will add a mirror for the last build , apparently goo.im is down , replacing servers I guess

the same thing happens to me from time to time and I do exact samething and it also fixes this issue .I personal see it more as an inconvenience than an issue for me anyways. just a little buggy is all ..Hope that helps ur decision ..
Just my feedback:
I'm still getting a FC on Settings->Storage? on the latest build 1020 (gapps, dePRIMA'd, superSU v1.65 and Franco 191 JWR - which is my standard setup)
Although I'm not getting it on the ROM, gapps, superSU and the kernel that comes with ROM, so thats what I'll run.
Anyone else, anyone know why? Apologies if this is what was being covered in the tail of the last thread.
What I find odd is that I've run all the AOKPK ROMs in the past with superSU and Franco 191 JWR without this issue (or at least I think I have) ?

the kernel built in is franco but with prima drivers instead. why do you want stock franco kernel? prima drivers on stock franco is better imho than normal franco. not in terms of speed or anything but in terms of wifi/data/2g/3g/4g whatever.
btw, thank you so much @kecinzer for making a thread. it was hard to keep track of everything in the old one. now i can subscribe to this and monitor it every day! 5stars thread.

Whilst I totally hear what you're saying, I like to run the "stock" Franco, so that I can use the FKU app, comment in his thread and update whenever he releases without waiting for a third party, no offense intended to anyone else.
Franco wrote the kernel and he choose not to include the updated drivers or build with additional tool chain options, so I'd like to run it as the creator intended (and the "god" pun isn't intended).

About OmniROM
OmniROM said:
The goal of Omni is to experiment with Android development because we enjoy it. Omni isn’t better, just different. It’s another option for the billion Android users out there. Android (vs. iOS and every other mobile OS) has thrived on options as well as the gigantic, talented development community that has emerged to build those options. That’s the beauty of Android – that you can pick and choose from a smorgasbord of devices with varying features and functionality.
Omni is a chance to get involved, no matter who you are. Developers, whether you’ve been developing apps for a week, or ROM features for 3 years, you’re welcome. Users, we know you want to help out, and now you can – Omni actively encourages bug reports and feature requests, which can be added to our publicly accessible roadmap. What’s the point in giving you a ROM, and forcing you to not tell us about any bugs you find?
We also recognise how people use Custom ROMs – we’re all custom ROM users and developers ourselves – the argument that “nightlies are not for end users” is over-used, and no longer valid. We’ve found that the vast majority of users want to get nightly updates to their ROM. For that reason, nightlies aren’t a playground – nightlies are for new features that are finished. You should be able to expect the same stability and reliability from a nightly as you would from a “release” ROM, and can report any bugs that prevent this from happening.
We know not everyone wants to update their ROM daily, and you are free to update as frequently or infrequently as you like. Omni is about flexibility and giving users what they expect – and we are excited to see where the community goes with it.

Known Issues
You may need to format data for ROM to boot. **This is very rare anymore but still may be a problem**
**By formatting you will delete TWRP backups. So backup your media because you will loose it.
No screenshots as of yet "couldn't capture screenshot. storage may be in use." error. No longer an issue
You will loose Root go here (chainfire's SuperSU) for flashable zip.

Yeah I noticed that too...tried replacing in the build with no success...ended up flashing SuperSU after flashing ROM to get root back, very strange. May pull build until I can get sorted out.
*EDIT*
Seems to be common amongst Omni 4.4 builds seems you need to flash SuperSU after install. I am not a big fan of doing this, the ROM should have this built in.

Yeah I thought Omni was just too vanilla for me but seemed to be popular amongst tablets...I'm just not to overly impressed. Another couple of minutes and the sources will be synced and assuming all goes well in about 2 hours of build time I'll have a working build (I build on a whopping 2 core AMD :silly: ) So about 6 pm EST should be ready for me to run a few things and maybe have it available tonight.
**EDIT:
The build is on...

Thank you for the offer but hopefully I may have found out my problem and an interesting tid-bit of info...
KitKat was almost a no go for omap4 devices. There is a workaround from Google that Slim does not use in their frameworks but they offer a solution, so that's in and running now...we will see.
**EDIT:
...It's alive!!! running a few more tests but everything seems to working and I'll make a new thread...Consider Omni for KindleFire2 dead

Carbon does not support multi-window that I know of (but I have been out of the mix as of late).
Omni for the KF2 is dead as far as I know (I don't think anyone picked it up)
Project back after very long delay.
Latest from the OmniRom group will try and keep this fairly regular (2 builds a week). First build (acctually second) up is plain Omni with Linaro 4.8 toolchains.
Next build will be hopefully -03 optimized
[B]About GCC main compiler cflags[/B] said:
-O1 Optimize. Optimizing compilation takes somewhat more time, and a lot more memory for a large function. With -O, the compiler tries to reduce code size and execution time, without performing any optimizations that take a great deal of compilation time
-O2
Optimize even more. GCC performs nearly all supported optimizations that do not involve a space-speed tradeoff. As compared to -O, this option increases both compilation time and the performance of the generated code. -O2 turns on all optimization flags specified by -O
-O3
Optimize yet more. -O3 turns on all optimizations specified by -O2 and also turns on the -finline-functions, -funswitch-loops, -fpredictive-commoning, -fgcse-after-reload, -ftree-loop-vectorize, -ftree-slp-vectorize, -fvect-cost-model, -ftree-partial-pre and -fipa-cp-clone options
-Os
Optimize for size. -Os enables all -O2 optimizations that do not typically increase code size. It also performs further optimizations designed to reduce code size

Most recent build is up (from the 25th) No go on the -O3 optimizations. Kernel is built with Linaro 4.8 toolchains by Christopher83 (here). ROMs GCC toolchains are SaberMod 4.8 as well. These make the ROM pretty smooth and it benchmarks very well.

[KERNEL] [CM-11] [7-3-2014] Moretz Kernel - Galaxy Note 8 Edition (N5100 & N5110)

Moretz Kernel 0.2.2 - Galaxy Note 8.0 EditionGT-N5110 & GT-N5100
Features:
Linux 3.0.101
Frandom
Network speed enhancements
Dynamic read ahead
CPU OC to 1.8GHz
GPU OC to 533MHz
CPU Voltage Control (OV/UV)
Tuned ZZMoove CPU governor (removed all other governors)
Intelligent CPU core hot plugging
Touchboost control, set to 800MHz
ARM CPU topology
LCD frequency switching (40Hz on screen dim, 60Hz on active)
Intelligent GPU scaling (Mali GPU control)
Lots of other fixes/tweaks
Intelligent zipalign at boot (init.d)
Intelligent sql db optimization at boot (init.d)
So, what's so special here?
A few things actually. I grabbed various code bits from many well known developers and worked some of my own magic on this build. First, I bumped the kernel up to 3.0.101 (FINAL) form kernel.org as a base on top of the stock CM 11.0 kernel. Once I pushed all of the enhancements listed above, I focused on tuning ZZMoove to balance performance and battery. I believe I've succeeded in that realm, so all other governors have been removed. This is a flash and forget kernel package. That's what makes it special ... the users do not have to do any tuning, it works, and it works well.

Moretz 0.2a -- Initial Release -- 3.21.2014
Instructions:
1. Download the flashable zip
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Flash the zip
4. Reboot
5. Done
I like to make things simple. Let your device boot up and that's it. No configuration necessary. But, if you want to screw with the CPU governor and ZZMoove settings, I made that easy for you. Just edit the zzmoove file in your init.d directory with the settings you want and reboot.

How to properly report bugs:
When reporting a bug, you must provide me with some very specific information so that I am able to either reproduce the problem or diagnose it based on logs. If you cannot provide information that I need, I cannot attempt fix the issue.
If the device is crashing:
Please make a copy of your last_kmsg immediately after rebooting the device.
Please make a copy of your logcat for the subsequent reboot.
Attach both files to your bug report and specifically state exactly what happens (are there steps to reproduce it?).
In all cases, please provide a logcat of when the issue occurs or specifically describe what is happening and how you can reproduce the error.
If you have any current issues prior to flashing my kernel, don't expect me to fix them.
The more detail you provide, the more helpful your bug report will be for me.
Feature Requests:
I'll make this one easy, I don't do feature requests. I used to do that, it became a real pain in the ass to keep everyone happy and the project I was working on bug free. Put simply, I put this together to work specifically for me and then decided to share it here. If at some point I decide to add new features, then I'll release new versions to you.

Would you be willing to test? Only reason I didn't publish for n5100 is because I don't have one to verify that I didn't break anything.
I just have to update a few configs and run a new build, let me know.
as an owner of the n5100 I´ll be very interested in your work. so my first question - will this kernel work with probam 1.3.2? maybe I could test it

I suppose it should, I did a quick check and looks like that ROM uses the same base 3.0.y kernel that CM 11.0 does. The partition scheme on the devices is the same too (both devices us /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 for the boot partition) ...
There's only one real way to find out though, someone has to flash it - worst case is that it doesn't boot up.
Go ahead and give this a rip and let me know how it goes. It's the same build as the OP with the 5100 defconfig updated to include the features that I added for the 5110.

If it doesn't boot, just reflash your previous ROM - that'll replace this kernel with whatever one is included there.
Yeah, kernel runs nice So I`ll kept my device on standby, make a wow raid and check the battery stats
Thx for your hard work
Assuming all goes well, I'll update the op to state that both devices are supported and working.

OK this is a very functional and smooth AOKP ROM probably the best I've seen yet the only thing that I displease is the density but that can be very easily changed so hats off to you dev amazing work keep it up!!!
I'm gonna try this...seems like we got new devs emerging out for our device... Keep it up bro @TrueFriend-cz

This is a really smooth ROM , I've been using it for a while.
One thing bothers me though. You have not given any credit to @kecinzer
XperiaZ / DirtyUnicorns / Rojak.Kernel / BlackedOutApps
Kecinzer rom have many bugs. If create folder on MicroSD then add special characters. Network switcher 2G/3D no as 2G only/3G only, but as 2G only/3G preferred, etc.

I am dev no user. My analyse is detailed and free time is not use for speculations. It is facts, no is for speculations. Kecinzer rom have bugs. 1. Add bad chars to name if create new folder on ext card. Solution is change Kernel: Kernel is from China, great is battery long life and smoothly rom, but problem with characters and etc. 2. Build have problem with switching network. My way is technical solutions, no social solutions or social steps. Technical is based on true, social maybe false and wars state. I don't use wars states. Please respect this. Thanks
I select kecinzer ROM for best solutions ROM and bugs is minimal.

Last build have problem with mpdecision and no 100% ideal and stability. Mpdecision dont can enable = battery very drain. Version beta1 is based on rom kecinzer prelast version - this version without problem mpdecision, lags, etc.
Now no one have mp decision error..beacuse cm fixed it 3 days before..its due to the selinux policy and aokp also merged it into git...so mpdecsion error was gone for ever in all roms..

yup. This ROM based on AOKPk ROM. Last version AOKPk is 2014-05-01... This version have problem with mpdecision. If kecinzer update ROM then update sg4 ROM, or select other, newer ROM.

Dev: noun short for developper ie one who develops ie submits fix . Gerrit would be the way to submit fix github would be another ..
If a dev has a solution he should submit it. If not out of respect he shouldnt comment.

I would like to see more information about your "Chinese" kernel.

GNU General Public License, version 2
Kernel Developers:
In order to be fully GPL compliant, your sources must:
Successfully build and produce a valid output file, which is the same format as provided in the binary
Contain all source code, interface definition files, scripts used to control compilation and installation of the executable (it is not required to include the actual compiler/toolchain, but sufficient information should be made available to obtain the SAME configuration, including compiler flags, as used to build the binary version as released)
ROM Developers:
If your ROM uses custom boot.img the source must be provided.
If the kernel you are using was created by someone else, you must link to their source.
If your ROM contains a stock kernel, source must still be linked - ie; link to the OEM source page.
Using a non GPL compliant kernel makes your ROM non compliant and subject to removal.
Here is an example of how your kernel sources should appear in your development thread's OP (original post):
My Awesome Kernel:
Source: android_kernel_sony_msm8x60 - Linked directly to where your source is located, ie; github, bitbucket
Compiler: Linaro GCC 4.8 ToolChain - Link not nessacery but is helpul.
Branch: Android 4.2.2
Kernel Version: 3.10

I am NOT resposible for any damage done to your device, your neighbor, or any other things you like/hate.
Introduction:
This is my first kernel for any Android device. I created it because I want to get the best out of my device. It initially started with some optimizations regarding SaberMod 4.9 compatibility but I tought why not optimize it even more.
About:
This Kernel is based on the official CM12 kernel, therefore it should work with any Rom using the stock CM kernel too (Like Carbon and Liquid). I run it together with Carbon here, all tests I do will also be done using Carbon. The Kernels features will get more with time
Features and Commit History:
Check 2nd Post!
Installation Instruction:
THIS DOES ONLY WORK ON UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER!
When you're on CM/a CM based Rom:
Flash the zip file in recovery
When coming from Stock:
Flash the boot.img included in your ROMs zip file using fastboot. Flash a CM based Rom then and flash the Kernel zip file again as the Rom overrides the Kernel.
Download:
Alpha version for SGP611/SGP612/SGP621 with XZDualRecovery Integrated

+ Manually extact modules.zip to /system/lib/modules and set 644 perms

How come NFC doesn't work?
Can we have f2fs support please?
Also the latest version had only the TWRP instead of the XZ dual recovery, is this intentional?

V11.1 is coming
Hey folks
After various reports on different devices, we reverted our sound changes for the static noise with headsets. It seemed to cause more issues than it was fixing.
Z3TC specific note: Builds will be hosted on my server (dl.myself5.de) as nos asked me to do. I'll only build the kernel on my build system, nos is responsible for the kernel to work.
Therefore, our changelog for 11.1 is quite small.
Changelog:
Fix sound again by reverting the previous sound fixes
As always, the build progress can be seen here: http://myself5.de:12345/job/M5Kernel All Devices/
Is it possible to include the philz dual recovery instead of the FOTA one since that one has always caused time issues for me. Whenever I boot up the FOTA recovery the time on my tablet resets to 1970
can some1 provide further information on OC/UC and OV/UV, is there a app for it? can the gpu be OCed aswell?

The phone does only have 2 CM custom kernels. Mine and the one from @someone755, my favorite kanging friend [emoji14] (Nah, jk, we're working together on things).
However. You can't flash the phones kernel on the tab, there WILL be issues.
Overclock and Undervolt can be done via Kernel Adiutor (which I recommend BTW). GPU can be overclocked (to 605MHz IIRC), however it can't be undervolted, there never was a port for MSM Kernels to undervolt GPU. Hope that answers your questions.

They are the only Overclockable kernels for usage with CM12.1/CM12.1 based Roms. There are afaik some other kernels for stock based ROMs, like AndroPlus Kernel, which support OCing too. Thats however not important, as you can't flash the Z3C kernels on the Z3TC.

Pretty much, yeah.
You just need someone to muster up the courage, strength, and, most importantly, the nerves of steel to deal with stock kernel sources. And Myself5 has no intention of doing that any time soon, and I've tried with the .264 kernel (that's stock Lollipop) but didn't get very far. (It works pretty well compared to what Androplus' last release was, if I'm honest. Just no MultiROM.)
For some reason these sources are really a pain to get working, which isn't helped in the slightest by the fact that Sony keeps spitting out new phones faster than Alin can update the kernel-copyleft branch. Meaning we don't even get the convenience of pulling our sources from GitHub -- No no no, we have to download a tarball for each individual kernel update. With no logs of what has changed since the last update, not knowing how it might affect performance or the patches we've already applied and made sure work well.
I'll try not to go near stock until the last stock Marshmallow kernel update is out. Then, I'll take the tarball and compile, so I don't have to mess around with figuring out which part of the code got changed. The issue with this approach, however, is the fact that when it does happen, Nougat will already be running on these devices (maybe? -- though if at all, it'll probably be in April, just like with Marshmallow this year, and Lollipop the year before).
Hope you can make heads or tails out of this.
EDIT: How the hell did I get to the Tablet Compact section? @Myself5 pls I can't keep track of all your threads. And to be honest I can barely keep track of my own, single thread. xD
Hi, please can you assist me? what roms are currently available that i can use with this kernel, also i dont get the adding the modules bit in the instructions, im new to kernels.
