While we wait for MDC Stock tar we have made Odin flashable tars for stock kernel, recovery and ROM.
We'll add the restore here as well when it's ready.

[Q] Does Nandroid of stock = Odin 1 click?

Hi,
I recently started trying out new ROMs and am wondering if I could divorce myself from the PC if I performed an Odin 1-click restore to stock then did a Nandroid backup of that installation.
Then in the future would restoring to stock via the Nandroid backup of stock be equivalent of the Odin 1-click?
Then I could flash ROMs w/o any connection to PC.
Thanks much for sharing,
Fred
no, cwm does not backup kernel or modem, so if you were to flash a 2.2 ROM and try to restore to 2.1 ROM, you'd be running a 2.2 kernel with 2.1 ROM and be stuck in a recovery bootloop.
ODIN one-click/heimdall or a pre-packaged CWM flashable zip of stock are really your only options. nandroid is mostly a bust on our devices.
Thanks much!
How necessary is it to return to stock prior to flashing new?
How can I get a pre-packaged CWM flashable .zip?
Not needed to flash stock
If there is a prepackaged flashable zip to get back to stock...could someone please provide a link?
Thank you
Not really a flashable cmw stock zip for jf6
Design gears did release a jh7 , package

[ROM][ODIN][ZIP]Stock Rooted Deodexed/Odexed MF9 with SuperSU/Busybox 1.20.2

Thanks to Calkulin for use of the install script. Thanks to Chainfire for SuperSU. Thanks to dsixda for the Kitchen. Thanks to romracer for the Deodexed Wallet fix. Thanks to garwynn for helping me get the system image working on the S4.
Flash this to get Deodexed/Odexed stock MF9 with latest root (SuperSU), su binary and Busybox 1.20.2. The zip files Do Not include a kernel or any other firmware. The tar files are complete packages that include Everything. That means the stock kernel and recovery are included. If you don't want those delete them out of the tar file before you flash it with Odin.
All of the zips wipe cache and dalvik for you so no need to do that separately.
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. You do this at your own risk.
As with everything I release, you are welcome to use this any way you need. Just remember where it came from:good:
There is a version for no data wipe and data wipe. Make sure you don't get them mixed up. The data wipe versions do not delete the /data/media folder.
Custom kernels will still give you a nag. A kernel dev will have to fix that. For now freeze seandroid.
If you get an md5 error in Odin delete the .md5 off the filename and try again.

Installation Instructions:
There are multiple methods of installation. This is just one that I would recommend.
Install custom recovery (If you don't already have one)
Make a backup
Odin noobnl's tar from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43418277 (Make sure you follow the instructions)
Install stock MF9 kernel
Install the rom zip of your choice
Odin Files:
I now have the Rom in Odin flashable tar files. They are compressed in rar format so you will need to decompress them before you flash with Odin. Also note that these include the stock kernel and recovery. If you don't want those installed you must delete them out of the tar file before flashing it. Otherwise just install it and replace the kernel and/or recovery with whatever you want.

The download links are not working for me
I'm assuming same drill going from mdc to mdl. First odin mdl tar and inject custom recovery then flash this..?

Noob here. Currently on MDL with a rooted stock and hotspot mod installed trough root browser. Also I have TWRP.
Which one of these will be the most like what I would get if I wasn't rooted and did an OTA update? Would I just download and flash it with TWRP, or do I need to go back to everything stock first?

I would use what noobnl posted to update the modem and everything to MF9 and update and then flash the Stock Rooted Odexed ROM of MF9 with no data wipe through your recovery. This is what I will do and did to go from MDC to MDL.

I concur. Thanks!
Upload needs moar fastar.
When we went from mdc to mdl we had to go back to mdc for the ota update. Since these include the mf9 firmware can we just flash this with a full wipe and the just inject a custom recovery? Just checking if we have to go Back to mdl stock. Currently on Xousos mdl rom.

On MDL we had to go back to MDC and do the OTA to get the modem. After checking Noobnl's post I see that it doesn't look like it includes the kernel. So you here is what I would do. Make a backup. Odin noobnl's tar. Install custom recovery. Flash the stock MF9 kernel. Install the MF9 rom of your choice. Restore Data only.
Primary Odex links are done. Mirrors are still uploading. Still working on Wallet for Deodexed.

Someone would have to pull it from the tar file and make a zip so you could flash it. But, the stock kernel contains no root..........

Want to go back to Stock.....

Anyway to go back to stock without computer or wiping, I have the 920T stock rom with skyhigh 3.3 kernel.
Are you asking about the stock rom? Kernel? For rom you'll need to flash the stock image from sammobile for your variant
No I have the stock rom I need a non rooted kernel to undo root.

In that case you could extract the boot.img from the stock image downloaded from sammobile or wherever, convert it to .tar and flash it through odin. There is tons of information on how to convert img to tar

OC3 Stock KERNEL Recovery-Flashable.zip

I know there is OC1 and NC2 kernel that can be flashed with Safestrap. I'm looking for OC3 flashable kernel.
Anyone got it or know how to make it?
I took the OC1 Kernel Flashable zip and extracted the boot img that was in the sd card folder and replaced it with the one from OC 3 AP File, zipped it back up.
Used the NC2 Flasher and flashed it with Safedtrap 3.75. Safestrap DID not say it was OC3, but NL1. Phone INFO says it's OC3 Bootloader.
