[REQUEST] Ubuntu touch for HTC one x+ international - Ubuntu Touch Ports to Android

This is a request for Port of ubuntu touch on my one x+ international
Inviato dal mio HTC One X+

After buying the HTC One, my HTC One X+ is relaxing inside a draw. Would love to make use of it by installing the latest Ubuntu touch. So I hope someone ports it to the International version and keeps it updated
Thanks

Double bump!
I'd also like to see this developed. Currently there is a contact person named "~Lloir" for this development, but it appears he is not active in making this. I'd post the link to the development site but I'm new and not allowed

Indeed, a port to the HOX+ International would be very nice.

[Q] Why HTC LOVE not to upgrade the previous HTC Devices even though they are able?

[Q] Why HTC LOVE not to upgrade the previous HTC Devices even though they are able to support the software??
Because they can sell new phones.
Have patience.
htc is actually one of the better companies when it comes to upgrades on older phones. I hear sony or motorola customers get no love.
I guess being better doesn't translate to being good at updating previous models. It's all about making a sale.

Cause if every single HTC device have right of upgrade, what's the point of new devices from HTC ? This forces people to buy new products. Hope you understant
like i said, it's all about the sale
They sell a device, support a few updates for a while, perhaps after that one or two updates spread out, then they do focus on the sale of newer devices almost exclusively.
HTC is better than some companies, and at least they have made lots of hardware that can support better software, because we can enjoy the great work of independent developers like those on xda to give us lots of options. We don't have to rely on HTC that way!
Go open source!

I will be happy if HTC just gives out drivers to stop the camera lag in AOSP ROMs, that's all I ask
I found that app in sensation forum...it is force closing on all the roms except virtuos unity one. It won't even run on the IS official sense 3.0 update.
Anyone knows how we can port it???
You should be happy, as HTC is actually releasing updates...go to Huawei or Motorola...the phone sells and dies with the same Rom. You'll find all sorts of unofficial Roms, but not from the manufacturers.
So, HTC is doing quite all-right, not as good as Google (from obvious reasons) but not as bad as Huawei or Motorola.
OK. once again regarding this app, does anyone have any idea how to port it?
i have the sensation qhd .apk of this app.
any one willing to resize this app for wvga?

[Q] Developer Community

I've been reading through the posts about the general lackluster developer community for htc phones as a whole. It appears, at least within what I have seen throughout the hardcore android community that this phone, mainly for hardware, is the biggest competitor to the s4. Obviously there are other choices, all of which have their ups and downs(Z,s4,920), but in all this is the phone to rival the s4 right now. To me and this was on another thread about vanilla android, that really it is a deal breaker if the dev community is going to be atrocious. So my question is, do you think the dev community will be larger for this that the one s, due to the draw away from the s4's lackluster design and minimal hardware upgrades. It is really the only phone I am considering getting apart from the next nexus, but I can't pull myself away from how this would be my ultimate phone if it had stock android on it.
This device will gather developers from the HTC evo 3d, evo 4g lte, one x, one xl, international one x, one s, etc..etc.... So yes the development on this device will be epic since it is the only flagship device from HTC. We might loose some developers to other devices but we will also gain some. I woupdnt worry much about not having enought development for the HTC one.

So in that case will developers like Bad Seed Customs etc from the Evo CDMA line be releasing stuff for international too? Or will it be possible to have a one device zip like Virus has with the Evo 3D Viper ROM? Sorry I live in a GSM area
And @OP if you search either this forum or general there is a thread by -viperboy- which has a list of a few developers
What about support from HTC? The S3 I have has next to no support for developers, is HTC any different?

Better because the chipset used (qualcomm) is more documented and has more support from qualcomm themselves via codeauroraforum or whatever its called
However HTC tend to screw around with the source a bit
One thing HTC is bad with is bootloader unlocking: its not "unlocked" as there are many restrictions that samsungs don't have
But overall imo HTC has better support once you get over the bootloaders

Well the first step for Bad Seed Customs is to actually get this damn phone in the US....

Nothing to see here. Move along

Hello,
First of all, allow me to indroduce myself. My name is Michael, and I have made some contributions to the XDA scene two years ago in the Xperia Mini Pro forums. I ported HTC Sense and Cyanogenmod 7 to that device and was the first to start the real development for that device.
With that said, I have retired for two years and have lost track of the developments. Anyway, on to my question:
Is it possible to port the HTC DNA / Butterfly J rom over to the Xperia Z?
Looking at the specifications, both devices feature a Qualcomm S4 Pro chipset, and a Adreno 320 GPU, empowering a screen with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels.
Technically, this was the requirement to port a HTC Sense rom back in the days, a matching CPU, GPU and screen size. I do not know if this has changed.
My main reason for this question is that, if we can get the HTC DNA rom booting on the Xperia Z, we could also get the ported HTC One for the HTC DNA rom working on our phone, and enjoy Sense 5 (Minus Zoë)
I am looking forward to a reply from any skilled developer!
this indeed looks very interesting
if i recall correctly sense has been ported to several devices like the gnex and S2
i wouldnt mind trying sense on my xperia z :3

Hey, good to see someone from the past
I already have the device, but porting is a pain in the you know what.
(Sense is not as easy to port anymore, + I have zero experience in kernel modifications.)
Having sense would be great.
Hope you can do it.
I can help for tests if you want

First of all, thanks for the thread. I have already tried a similar approach, but the problem is that HTC Sense 5 will not boot with these minor modifications to the kernel. I have to make more advanced customizations, of which I do not have the knowledge yet. I will try to contact the developer of the port for the Sony Xperia Arc, and it's fingers crossed that he'll be willing to help me out

[Q] HTC One vs. Google S4

Now that Google has announced they will be selling a GSM Samsung S4 through the android market starting in June, what are your thoughts on which to get?
I purchased my HTC T-Mobile version last week. Took a while to adjust to Sense, and actually have 'desensed' it a bit by using Nova Launcher instead. It's a pretty phone, but I do miss some of the stock Android features of my GNex. Actually, it may be that since the GNex has had quite a bit of development, there are some nice tricks I can use with it that haven't been developed for the HTC One yet (i.e. PGM swipe to wake).

someone said it one of the threads(not sure which one) that he knows someone at htc and the will be releasing a pure aosp rom for the htc one like samsung is doing
Sadly, its not true based on this source
Update: Jeff Gordon of HTC just sent us the following message, “HTC is not currently planning a ‘Nexus Edition’ of the HTC One.”
http://androidandme.com/2013/05/news/htc-employee-teases-stock-android-htc-one/
I was really hoping that HTC would partner with Google so we could get pure android with actually time updates and this is the thread, page 60 that has the topic ".CyanogenMod Night lies"

companys always deny rumors in public statements until they are ready to release. not saying that i believe the guy and his source at htc but i definitely dont believe public statements release by a company rep

Lollipop has been cancelled....

Very sad to post this guys, but turns out the device will not be getting lollipop due to not providing an "Optimal Experience"
https://twitter.com/htc/status/592823289204047872
We will be getting 4.4.4 though which still sucks as it will take them another 3-4 months to develop it.
This sucks .. Ironic that my last device s4 mini that I sold over a year ago is getting lollipop while my new device isn't..
Well i don't trust htc .. sometimes they said something and it's totally wrong.. remember on their website they said that the One mini 2 will get Eye Experience ... And look now .. no Eye experience on our device..
So let's see
Disappointing and no M9 Mini on the horizon.... I might have to buy my first non-HTC phone.
Together with the disappointing release of the M9, this might have been the last HTC phone I've bought for a long time. I felt they had something with the M7, but since then no significant progress has been made and announcements like these certainly pushes me over the edge.
It could be 1gb ram is not enough ..
I noticed the HTC sense home update made my phone lag a lot so I uninstalled it seems much better now.
I think my next phone won't be a HTC maybe a Samsung .Samsung generally have better cams than HTC I think
Moto G is same cpu and ram and runs android 5.1 very well.
So either Sense put too much of an overhead or HTC just didn't sell enough HTC One Mini 2 to make it worth worrying about. It seemed to have been a popular phone in the UK but in US its only on one network.
Few custom roms for it either .....

Cheers for that, was wondering what was causing phone to freeze & it seems uninstalling sense home update has cured it

Guys i run my stock rom with no lag at all .
I've made one stuff to get this kind of flying..
I will build a rom hybrid if i can get some htc apps work on cm12 rom.
I think we can get a rom close to sense 7.0 on lollipop.
I'll try that and i'll open a thread for the project .. if any dev who owned the one mini 2 can join me on this project
Stay tuned
Ps : to get more free ram to run sense with no lag i will make thread for you guys
My mini don't lag at all I'm running ur ROM will . but I've debloated all the useless apps that HTC like to put on the phone kids mode google + etc I even run the old version of google apps that let's u save maps and keep for longer than a month but as soon as I updated sense home it caused lag so I uninstalled it ..
hey guys ..
someone can make a petition on twitter or via mail to htc for release Lollipop with sense 6.0 on the HTC One mini 2 ..
i cannot believe that they pull out some device and they just left their users ...
Maybe there's still hope...
If someone can talk to them.. ask them for the lollipop .anyone who got a twitter account, send them this message about lollipop for mini 2.

I have... But they have the same sh***y PR reply stating that there won't be an "optimal performance" in Lollipop
Old tricks from HTC. The same was with Desire HD and One Sv and few more phones. Thats why i change the brand. I still like the HTC phones but not gonna buy me again. I was with HTC since the original Desire was out.
Same for me. I realy like the HTC Device looking. But the One M8 was too big for me, so i decided to take the mini 2. And now i get the same answere as i got for my old good Desire: No Update.
And they cannot tell me that Lolipop will not work on the mini2 It's simply the same hardware as the One M7 and there everything is working.
This was my last HTC and the last Android, too.
That's partially true, m7 has more ram and a different processor, but that's not an excuse in my opinion. The m7 is one year older than our mini 2... And 2nd, there has been no major update, we're still on 4.4.2, as when it was commercialized... Absurd
Just had this convo with HTC. Of course they used the same reply

Still not reply from them. .. hmm I wonder why..
