NVIDIA [email protected] Prime 2013 - Shield Android Development

I am on my way home from PAX after staffing the NVIDIA booth (volunteer). I thought you all should know the staff at NVIDIA holds you (XDA community) in high regard and touted your efforts with the Shield to attendees as a great resource for the platform. :good:
****This is my opinion and not a release by NVIDIA or anyone else - just passing on what I have observed

Cool! safe travels!

Thanks to pax prime I was able to finally get a look at the nvidia shield. My disclaimer is I am a full PC gamer. But the shield would be great for keeping yourself or children entertained for (on average) 5-10 hours on a single charge.
Plus you can stream 1080p out to your TV, think TV as a gaming monitor.

Time to see some heads roll.

Some news I wanted to share with you guys: ARTICLE
Compare with all the sharing and community sense that kings XDA Developers.
This is a nice excerpt from the article:
Apple’s stance contrasts sharply with the Windows Mobile world, where developers are seen as the life blood of the ecosystem, 3rd party applications are expected to be installed from the start, and developers do not have to jump through any hoops to distribute their application.

Nice article, but I really don't get the fanboyism and anti this and and anti that. I have my diamond, and I am extremely happy about it. Reminds me of the old school AMD vs Intel/ATi vs nVidia wars scouring hardware forums not so long ago. It's just STUFF! Things. Devices. Not ideology; someone with an iPhone isn't less of a human being than others. No wonder there's war in this world.

well, to be completly honest, apple started it to make it into something different. they want it to be a movement.... you have to think apple to own a mac.
the I'm a mac guy underlined the whole thing even more.
so I'm totally comfortable with the bashing in case of apple, even though I own a macbook and run mac os on it.

[HALF-LIFE] Escape From City 17 - Part One

Amazing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1UPMEmCqZo
Be sure to click "Watch in HD"...
Details:
Directed by The Purchase Brothers.
The Escape From City 17 short film series is an adaptation based on the Half Life computer game saga by Valve Corporation. Originally envisioned as a project to test out numerous post production techniques, as well as a spec commercial, it ballooned into a multi part series. Filmed guerilla style with no money, no time, no crew, no script, the first two episodes were made from beginning to end on a budget of $500.
Additional Notes:
Valve flew the team out to Seattle last year, and the brothers have been in communication with them since.
Derek Chan, and Ian Purchase are the two resistance fighters.
David and Ian Purchase are commercial directors represented by Sons and Daughters in Toronto. They are working on an unannounced feature film. Not HL related.
They have been huge fans of HL since the days of "ivan the space biker'
So, is this a trailer movie?
Or a new game will come soon?
I love Half life game!!
Updated original post with the additional info from the youtube page, amazing work.
I think is a new game coming soon

Indeed, a new game is in the works but this is purely a fan-made production. They sent this to Valve without prior notice and have been working with Valve since. Amazing usage of CG and even home-made outfits. The used to Valve/Source SDK and abused it.
One of the best CG creations I have ever seen other than the Elephants Dream 9 minute short made overseas all open source. (HL 2 thing isn't open source but check out Elephants Dream)

I'd post this in the XOOM, Transformer, Iconia, NI Adam, GTab 10.1, etc. areas, too, since there aren't that many out there with Streak 7s, but there are a lot with Tegra2 devices.
I'd love to see them develop some more for Android, but their asking price is just too damned high (said int he voice of that "The rent is too damned high" guy). $15 for a game is a hard sell on mobile, even if it is a great one. Gameloft, Gamevil, etc. are selling for $2-5. $15 better blow my freakin' mind. If they had sold GoF2 for even $7, I might have impulse purchased it; $15, though, would get me 3+ games from another developer.
I agree the price tag is high in the way of mobile gaming which is a shame I personally played the whole game via the pirated one and bought the game out of principle cause its just a damn good game and retardedly addictive so when I say the game is worth it I mean it
Hell I pay 60 dollars per consol game and this game heres quality is just amazing
I appreciate you helping posting threads i figure enough of us makes a stink then it will help motivate them to develop for android devices that support it currently and do not currently support it

'Battle Gems' release in the upcoming months from aq.com [READ!]

A new game called 'Battle Gems' by Artix Entertainment is getting released for phones (iOS, Android) in the upcoming months. This game will be similar to the game 'AdventureQuest Worlds' (aq.com) in adventure's respect. It will be filled with adventures, and as Cysero (project lead) says, there will be MUCH more getting added and updated in the game(again, like the game AQW).
If you want a 'feel' of this upcoming game, try AdventureQuest Worlds (aq.com/play-now). Trust me, this game (as well as AQW) is sure to amaze you. At how good it is, of course.
Note: this is no ad.
Nice, but, this post would of been better placed here.

Help us turn Chromecast into a gaming platform

Hi,
I'm from Concept96 - an app development start up who love Chromecast. We've got a vision to turn Chromecast into the worlds cheapest games console. Imagine a console which only costs £30/$35, requires no wires, uses your existing devices as controllers and has 4m units sold worldwide to attract developers. It has great potential.
We need your help in order to realise this vision. Our first Chromecast game, Buzzb, has just launched on Kickstarter. If you'd like to see our vision become a reality then please consider taking a look at our project and even pledge some money. The link is here
Thanks for your time.
Sam
