Does anyone have a relationship with Chainfire - Samsung Galaxy Gear

We need root, side loading can be done posted by ars technica,{ http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013...unning-on-the-samsung-galaxy-gear/?comments=1 } We need root and Chainfire is the person to go to. If anyone on here has a somewhat correspondence with Chainfire can you get CF-autoroot for the Gear.

Ehhhh, we already have root, Cyida Impactor and then push the Superuser apk over to the device and you're done. Pretty simple had mine rooted in like a minute.

[SOLVED]What Does This Mean??

What exactly does this mean regarding the last descriptor on Cyanogens thread(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537204) regarding CM v4.0.2
...Not vulnerable to the "one click root" exploit....
Ronseal - Exactly what it says on the tin
After this rom is applied, it is the one click root exploit will be fixed. Your phone will stay rooted though if it was already done.
??What is ronseal and the tin??
Maybe i'm asking the wrong question.
When I read "Not vulnerable to the "one click root" exploit", it sounds like there is an exploit in the one click root procedure that causes harm or something to that nature.
Someone else give it a stab please?
vulnerable= "open to attack or damage"
exploit= "utilize; to make productive use of"
The reason it sounds that way is because the "one click root" is a loophole in security which we attack when using the method. Whether it is harmful or helpful depends on how it is used.
For instance if the method used it the "one click root" were tucked into another app and ran on a phone you do not wish to be rooted. That would be "harmful" so to speak.
However if you are intentionally utilizing the vulnerability to gain root access to your device it is actually helpful.

Sorry, Ronseal is a figure of speech based an a paint ad in the UK, it has nothing to do with the phone
The Stock Rom is vulnerable to the one-click-root-method. Vulnerable in the sense that you can use it to your advantage.
CM 4.0.2 does not have that vulnerability.
Capisce?!
I understand now.
Thanks guys!

[Q] Problems with enabling sideloading

Okay everybody, first off let me apologize, as I am sure that this is asked quite a bit. However, I am not very savvy with using terminal and such to enable sideloading on my Captivate, and I cannot get any of the methods to work properly.
I started off with the Unleash the Beast root on my phone, then for some reason I thought that froyo was out as an official update, because when I went to check for an update, it would download a package, reboot my phone, then tell me that the update could not be applied. So, thinking that it was due to the root, I had to use Odin to get Unleash the Beast off the phone; however, whatever "update" the phone was attempting to apply still would not work. So I reverted back to root the phone. I have used the One Click Root to program, I have installed BusyBox, and allowed SuperUser access. I am trying to enable sideloading so that I can download the Market Access app, but I am having troubles getting it to work. I have a Mac, and I have used many methods to try and enable it, but no matter what I do it will not work.
Again, I apologize for my ignorance. I have searched all over, and I still can't get this stuff to work. If anybody could provide any assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Could you provide a little more information about your phone? Is it stock JF6 with just root? If not provide firmware information and anything else that might be useful
P.S. Questions belong in the Q&A section
I'm not really sure what JF6 is haha...After I used Odin and set it back to stock conditions, the only thing I did was use the One Click Root.
As far as sideloading goes, the One Click De-Cripple method on page 2 of the general forum worked for me. If you want to know what version your phone is, go to the about phone section under your settings menu. If you need or want to upgrade to JH7, which was the last OTA update from ATT, do a search and there are a few options out there for that.
Well unfortunately I cannot use OCD on Mac..I tried to do the command prompts, but the su is asking for a password, which is odd because the way I understand it, it shouldn't be doing that

You did type adb shell first right? Then you should get a "$" where you then type su. It then echoes back su and you should see a "#".
From what you just said, it sounds like you're attempting to get root access on your mac through terminal, which in that case should be your password.

Ok, I got that to work. Now I'm just having trouble entering the code for mac. Like I said, I'm not very savvy with this stuff, so pardon my ignorance, haha.
I'm using the method in the "How to: Remove (Almost) Every Trace of AT&T" thread. (I would post a link, but since I'm a new user, it won't let me)
Is there anything different that I need to put into terminal other than the "./adb"?
I tried to paste the link to this thread but being a new member I am not allowed to post a link because of spam issues. Do a google search for "how to enable non market apps on captivate consolidated" and this will be the first xda thread that comes up.
This thread gives several methods for permanent enabling of sideloading. Being a noob, all of them were a little intimidating to me except for METHOD 3. You don't need a computer and you can do it all on your phone with Root Explorer, SQ Lite, and Terminal Emulator which are all available on the market. The step by step is pretty good and I have done it twice with no issues.

Nothing to add to this, except "yes" and "yes" to save us from complainings like "I'm still too lazy to do so/ I couldn't find the button/ It takes ages to search and you might as well tell me".

Ok, ok. Just to be clear, rooting is done with two things, first is binaries "su" that is placed (rooting process) in phones System/bin or xbin and app like Superuser or SuperSU that can be system or user installed app, allowing you to edit system files...that's it in short. So why OTA would't work, and why you couldn't unroot...

Just to clarify this: In the rooting thread it has been mentioned a few days ago that you can easily unroot via the Superuser app. And shortly after v10f was released it was reported that not only would you receive it via OTA (because that's normally only a problem if you got a real custom recovery), but that root would remain after the OTA upgrade. I read that a few times in different threads.
And, if you read my previous post, i wrote "yes and yes". That should have answered your question clearly enough.

Please simple directions to root towelroot

On verison moto X 4.4.2 and have rooted with Pie, but trying to get towelroot working and not getting it. Have the app installed and says rooted but fx file explorer and su says no root.
I've read the towel root threads and not sure I understand.... busybox and gravity something NEED to be installed before towelroot will root?? Or does the towelroot app work by itself? I cant get it to.

Since we already have a towelroot thread, this question probably belongs inside there. The mods don't approve of opening duplicate threads.
YES, you NEED busybox - specifically the Stericson variant. Don't use any of the other variants (it is linked in the OP of the towelroot thread). Gravitybox / Xposed are OPTIONAL, and you do not HAVE to have them to use towelroot.
Other than that, I have no advice for you, other than post this IN the towelroot thread. Those people are more likely to be in a position to help you...
(I'm unlocked and don't use Towelroot / PIE)
Good Luck

Well its a question thats why i put it here.. I read thru the towel root threads and nothing looked simple so I started this here for SIMPLE step directions. I have installed busybox and don't know what to do with it.. still no root with towel root, but continuously get root over and over by rerunning the last 2 commands of Pie root. Would be nice to be able to get root without rerunning Pie
My Simple steps so far
1. flash stock
2. downloaded towelroot and ran it, changed the last dig to a 1 (if that matters)
3. no root.
4. Pied my moto and got root and than rebooted and lost root.(expected)
5. tried towel root again and still no root. (not expected, thought i would have root)
6. made this thread downloaded busybox and installed it. don't know what else to do with it, says installed correctly,
7. rebooted and tried towel root again and still NO root.
8. ?? need help.

Questions are OK in their appropriate discussion threads....even if those threads are located in 'general'.
I can tell you that Towelroot has inherent limitations because of the SU context that is being used.
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53936577&postcount=108
and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53960943&postcount=120
Although several of us (myself included) have tried to get the DEV to comment on the issue, we haven't heard a word back... For these reasons, it is suggested to use PIE and PIE only, and just try to avoid rebooting your device...

Thanks for trying to help.. I'm about to give up.. Pie works great you don't need to run all 4 root commands.. just 3 and 4, the pushed files remain on the phone after reboot so just run 3 and 4 commands and rooted again.. wish it was possible to run those commands via and app!

Google "AdAway XDA". The first result is the thread for the AdAway app.
And what do you mean in-app purchases? You install an app from the Play Store, tap the in-app button, add your gift card and/or credit/debit card (if required), buy.
If you're talking about circumvention, you are NOT going to get help here, AT ALL. This is not one of those places for that mess.

Ad block you don't need any guide. Just install the apk from f-droid. When you'll open the app it will prompt you to grant root access. Just click yes and you have to enable adblock from the app.

I know you are new here, and here is some friendly advice:
1) Search before you post! Most of the info you want, and probably ever want, is already on XDA. It's probably been asked and answered before, probably numerous times. There are a number of guides posted for basic things, like how to root. Just using the search function, or for that matter just browsing through the thread titles will often yield a lot of the info you are looking for. Also, there are resource threads like the Index at the top of the 3T "Guides, News & Discussion" section, which organizes a lot of the useful threads and other resources (with links). Be sure to take advantage of these threads "sticky" to the top of each section.
Only after you have done your due diligence, and can't find what you're looking for, should you make a new thread. If every person who was wondering "how to root" made a new thread asking that, this whole website would quickly become a cluttered, useless mess. The folks here are happy to provide help and try to answer your questions, but only after you've taken at least a little time to try to find the answer yourself.
2) You need to slow down and do some learning and reading. This is something you should have done before starting to do any of the steps toward root. Halfway down the phone modding rabbit hole is not the time to be asking questions like "how do I put the SuperSU zip on the phone".
I've been around here a long time, and modded/rooted a lot of devices. Even so, every time I get a new device, I spend at least an hour or two reading about the root methods (plus possible pitfalls, issues, etc.) for that specific device (as every one has it's own peculiarities and nuances). I simply can't fathom jumping into the root/mod process without this minimum due diligence.
3) Make sure you understand the meaning and implications of an unlocked bootloader, root, etc. There are benefits, and there are also risks. When someone comes on here asking the questions you are asking, what often comes to mind is that a person with that lack of knowledge has no business having root. This isn't to be mean, it's just a fact (at least as I see it).
Side note: I'm not a fan of YouTube guides. They have a place, in conjunction with (but not a replacement for) proper reading and understanding. Just following one of those videos, without doing any other learning, is going to get you in trouble. You'll only know enough to get yourself into a jam (which is inevitable if you play with these devices), without a clue of how to get out. Know (at a minimum) how to recover or get back to stock. Case in point, the linked video skipped what is to me, a critical step. You should always make a TWRP backup before flashing any mods like root or custom ROM. It's not technically a "requirement" but to me, its a must. This gives you an easy way out, if anything goes wrong (and it eventually will). Sure, there are other ways to recover. But the simple step of making a TWRP backup is one way, that doesn't require any additional downloads, tools, etc. It's simply a no-brainer to me, to do this.
