Stutter in transitions - Asus Transformer TF701

Im noticing quite a bit of stuttering in all transitions. Landscape to portrait or opening apps. Im quite surprised considering this has a tegra 4. I had the hp slatebook x2 and it was super smooth. Anyone else experiencing the same?

Ive tried disabling energy saving and did help a little bit. Did not help with transition from landscape to portrait. The only way I got rid of it was to enable developer mode and enable Force GPU, MSAA4, and Disable Hardware overlay.

I did this with the 1st tablet but did not make a difference but I'm updating my new one now so well see.
UPDATE: as I expected the update didn't fix the stutter. Now I don't know if I should play the waiting game or just buy the hp slatebook again.

90% it is the Asus UI overlay. We will get better performance when devs are rolling out roms.

Maybe because I use Nova Launcher i don't have any lags because I am not using the Asus stock launcher.

Are you saying yours stutters too? I thought you recommended the update for a reason. I'll give it a month before my return period ends. I really had high hopes for this one. First Prime, then tf700 now this. Cmon Asus get it right.

i havent update mine yet, its still downloading, i dont know the patch notes for the update so i dont know what it actually changed. i honestly think its Asus UI. the hardware is good, so the only affecting performance is the software

you could try with a screen recording app like Z Screen Recorder, although it has mixed reviews... good thing is tha it does not require root.

Yup returned the hp before as I thought the tf701 will be the better device with 32gb and better screen. I didnt think it would stutter and games not be as smooth as the hp. with cromi on my tf700 i feel the only difference with the tf701 now is its just faster. I dont know if that speed is worth a $500 upgrade.

From what I understand Ubuntu Touch is still in the testing phase. Word is that Canonical will launch a stable build by the end of this month. So it mere days/weeks. The preview was beautiful. Personally excited to get my hands on it.
The only drawback I can anticipate will be the initial lack of apps. Which won't even take long to change I'm sure.
Currently on PA:3.15

I really don't see that happening at all (failing). Been following it up to this point of the preview being dropped. I realize its early to say but I feel that it was the first OS to do exactly as any company had advertised. Nothing more or less.
When I had my Evo LTE threads were full of support for it. Ubuntu alone has definitely taken off, have it as a dual boot and primary on another.. So personally I believe as long as it stays on the path and future they are creating we can expect something pretty awesome. There was some mention that people felt it was just a launcher in a sense. Idk I felt it was entirely new experience.
Had a chance to test the Infobar as well. Which the two operated very similar. So it gave a full preview.
Being in love with Paranoid and having a gesture based phone I'm still looking forward to it. Worse comes to worse I think it will bring alot to future android development. But all in all I would love to see it succeed and become a major player.
I tried it out today...because i just got my N4 and haven't activated it yet...and well...the keyboard wasn't working...it was pretty as all hell, but i can see how it's a beta...painfully so...

It's not even in beta. It's a developer preview right now. They don't even expect testers to use it just yet. The wider testing phase should be the end of May or early June. That's when 3g and auto bug reporting will be enabled.

It is in "dogfood" stage, meaning that their in-house developers use it on a daily basis. It runs fine, there's just not much in the way of apps (even built-in) for it yet. It can be laggy at times because it is not optimised, but a person could use it daily if you don't need a lot of apps on your phone.

Ordered mine from Amazon, got it yesterday. Next day shipping, with Amazon Prime, was like $3. Best Buy hasn't even heard of it and keeps trying to push the Samsung Tab 3 on me instead, it might be a bit of a wait if you want to get it from them, they still have the TF700 in my local store. FYI This thing blows my TF700 out of the water.
I'm torn what to do. Galaxy tab plus BT keyboard, keep my tf700 or get tf701

Just make sure where ever you buy it you can RETURN IT! Its nice to read what others say but NEVER go by that. Review it yourself. Playing this this and others and the new Kendle hds 8.9 (I know not really the same). The sound alone on the Kendle WOW thats what tablets should sound like. Then go back to the one speaking TF701.. ouch its just awful
With all these mini-stores opening up within Best Buy: Samsung, Microsoft, etc. perhaps Best Buy needs an Asus store.

Buy the TF701. This is much better than the old tf700 i had as well. I sold the old tf700 quickly because it was tooo laggy.

Should I buty tf701 ?

Guys ive been thinking about upgrading my tablet and my current two options are Asus tf701 and note 10.1 2014, i really like the spen but asus is boastimg 13 hours of battery ,but I need to know how is Tf701 , are you guys satisfied , but what is the battery time of this thing for video playback and on internet , and how long does it take to charge ?would you suggest me to buy tf701 or note 2014 Plz any suggestions would be welcomed.

You might want to read the thread [Q] TF701t or Samsung Note 10.1 2014.
Well it is hard to make a decision for you.
All is depending of your preferences .
Do you like and want the dock with extra batt?
You like the fact that it is with dock cheaper than the Note 10" 2014.
Maybe you don't like the 701 at all.
I suggest read here on this forum all interesting threads and maybe bring a visit to the transformer forum on their website.
Not forget that people who are complaining are always far in minority because people who are satisfied with the 701 have no urgency to post here.

I got while travelling (plane) Wifi off and playing mkv movies @ 50% brightness about 10,5 hrs.
Browsing with Wifi on will 4 sure consume more power.

Surprised by lack of development

I had the Asus TF201 and TF700, then gave the TF201 to my sister. I considered getting the TF701, but the lack of development has me reconsidering now.
Also, though I've never cared for any Samsung tablets, their newly announced Note Pro has me thinking of getting it once it's released. Since getting the N7 FHD just before launch, I've barely used my TF700 anyway. There isn't TOO much difference in display size, and the N7 FHD is much easier/comfortable to hold when lying in bed and reading or gaming so I grab it 99% of the time. I think having the 12.2" display on the Note Pro will be better than a 10.1" for reading and gaming too. I had the Note 2, then got the Note 3 on launch day. I like that the Note Pro looks a lot like the Note 3 as well. My only complaint is that the Wi-Fi only version of the Note Pro has the Exynos Octa-Core. The LTE version has the 800, but I have no use for an LTE capable tablet. I wish the Wi-Fi only version had the Snapdragon 800, or even the Tegra 4.
So, that brings me back to considering the TF701. Do you guys think development will pick up soon? I know it will eventually pick up at least a little, but don't wanna wait for the device to be close to a year old before there is a large rom selection.
What are the thoughts of you current TF701 owners? Are you still happy with your purchase? Does the lack of development bother you, or do you normally even flash roms to begin with?
SwiftKey'ed from my White Sprint Note 3 via XDA Premium
Well it will but only when Asus will and can fix the build quality problems very very soon!
When not then this combo will be a big fail for them.
Still everybody here is very curious if builds from November and later are OK.

Well it won't be cm11 based but it will be a version of CROMi-X for the TF701T from 4.3 sources.
I love the tablet, and the third dock is great. Amazon finally got the updated docks, and while the build quality doesn't feel as nice as the tf201, I can get Wi-Fi at twice the distance and I don't have the crippling lag. I an a crack flasher and the lack if Roms has bothered me, but honestly the stock rooted ROM is pretty close to perfect for me. I just miss my nightlies.
Who was the supplier you ordered the dock from on Amazon? NewEgg?

I don't like that all notifications are combined now. It's very irritating. The phone is also much laggier than before I've noticed. Charges slower. The faulty note 7 was too lazy for a $850 device to begin with, but I hoped they'd fix it. I really don't like the green battery either, but that's not a big deal really.

I updated V1 because I have a V2 on order and had nothing to lose. Since it's the same hardware sans battery, I wanted to see what the update would do.
It was indeed quite laggy until I ran the device maintenance app and rebooted. It seems to be smoother now than before. I do, however, prefer the previous notification pull down.
Has anyone noticed a change in their status notifications?
On my original Note 7 notifications were not "grouped" if I had multiples from the same app (Facebook). Now I have to tap on the group to get them to expand.
I have noticed similar behavior for SMS messages. I no longer get a message preview and I do not have the option to reply from status bar..
I agree!

I received my replacement last night and there is definitely a lag, but nothing like the POS HTC Desire they gave me as a loaner and after charging on the wireless charger all night, it was only at 76%. I also cannot for the life of me find where I can change the alarm ringtone now (the settings does not have that option any longer) which is I why I came here. I did notice some interesting additions though.
