"On the inside of the battery compartment is what seems like a button that reads “GLASS”. This isn't a button at all, but rather a Bone Conduction Transducer, which allows you to hear audio with Glass."

Power button problems

I can't see any similar problems on the forum, so can anyone help?
Yesterday my Kaiser's power button stopped working. In the middle of the day, not doing anything with it, installing anything or changing any settings. I took it out of my pocket and the screen was on with the power off dialog box showing (I normally keep it on standby in my pocket) The power button wouldn't put it into standby, and holding it wouldn't power it down. Intermittently the power off dialog appears on screen, if I click yes the device restarts (doesn't stay off). Everything else seems to work normally still. Soft resetting works normally. All the other buttons seem to work ok. I've tried a hard reset, but that made no difference.
Anyone else have anything like this?

I'm having the exact same problem right now. The power button definitely seems to be stuck. Can't figure out how to unstick it
About a week ago I had a similar problem.
The power button and the photo button stopped working. I couldn't turn the the device off or set it to standby.
Had to soft reset and after that it was ok again.

phone froze, how to turn it off without removing battery?

The title explains the problem. I think I've seen someone write something somewhere about how to turn off the phone with a "key combo" if it froze. Someone who knows it?
-Thank you for your help
its actually quest stupid if you ask me you still have to remove the battery cover, and remove the stylus. and along the stylus docking hole(don't know the exact name, the hole where the stylus sticks into) you will see a small circular hole the exact diameter of the stylus. thats the reset button.
its just as hard as removing the battery.
Actually, when the phone usually hangs for me, the Power Option still responds. I hold the power button for like the first 10 seconds, and then tap the "off" button. Rarely do I have to take off the battery.

Hold as long as you want. It never worked for me. I must removed the battery. It's freaking weird. Maybe that's why Android phone has removable batteries.
Just a 'me too'. If the kernel realy hangs, he also can't manage events of the power button - and afaik, there's no Magik-SysRq like on desktop linux ;-).

How do I hard reset locked phone?

Hi,
I just purchased screen locked phone (requires password to unlock). I thought hard reset will fix it but it does not do anything.
I hope volume UP and volume DOWN buttons simultaneosuly while phone if off then press Power button and release it while continuing holding VolUP and VolDown but nothing happens - phone stays on locked screen. Does this procedure works on locked phones?
Mmmm...
Make sure you're holding the buttons in firmly while you briefly press the power button. It doesn't matter that the device is password protected, all the data will be cleared and set to default ROM settings.
If the device just switches on, it means that one or both of the volume buttons weren't completely pressed when you hit the power button
I tried like 10 times already. I hold both buttons very tight but after pressing power, it just comes back to unlock screen.

hold volume button down and press power button. if you can do this just flash a new rom from the sd card.
This does not do anything either. I hold vol down button while phone is off and press briefly power while still holding button and nothing happens. It comes to load screen.

Hard reset
Be sure first that device (not the screen) is turned off, then:

Thanks,
I figured this out. I was so stupud, I understood phone is off is like screen is Off. It actually meant the whole phone is off instead (had to remove battery for that).
The First thing you need to do: Power-OFF your device.
since it's locked, software interaction may not possible. you need to take the battery out, and put it back in 2-3 seconds later
Then, hold VOLUP and VOLDOWN tightly, and hit the power button to start the hard reset procedure.

Screen Frozen

Any idea how to fix a frozen screen?? I was moving an app from one screen to the next and it froze on that part. Now the device seems unresponsive. Holding power buttons or volume rockers does nothing.
Anyway to fix this?? Or should I just wait for the battery to die.
Thanks guys/girls

Usually Power + Vol Down or Power + Vol Up or Power + Vol Down + Vol Up
Try each of those and hold them for at least 10 seconds...should reboot.
Just hold power

Usually holding the power button for 10 seconds has the same effect as "pulling the battery" if needed.

Same thing has happened to me, twice-first when I first was going through the set up, no response until multiple reboots, was able to set up device. Again today on fully set up N7, unless i rubbed the screen repeatedly then it would change desktops and "refreeze", until multiple reboots via holding power button down, then the device finally worked ok-hopefully a driver issue.

Phone appears bricked for no reason. Completely no response. Can anything be done?

I was charging the phone. I picked it up to check something, unplugging it. I set it down. Came back to it a few minutes later, and.... it's dead. Completely. Tried holding power button a bunch of times for long stretches of time. Plugging it in gives no response--no light, no vibration. I had this happen once before but then it rebooted when I popped out the SIM card, and all was well again. This time, nothing.
Can anything be done?? Not sure what else to do/try.

Yes I tried that. Nothing. How long should I hold them?
Omg, holding power button + volume up worked!!

This is how it SHOULD be done. But it does not always help. My XZ1 compact once completely locked up while installing an update to the Android System Webview app. I could select a reboot in the menu but there it locked up forever. None of the key combinations worked. I ended up having to send it back under warranty to Amazon.de and their service partner repaired the device and flashed the factory image back.

Wish I had found that website in my Google searching lol. The results I was getting were for more generic Android steps. And I kept seeing people write power button + volume down. I did come across something written about holding power button + volume up which allows you to enter a menu to do factory reset... So then I tried that.
