[Q] Recovery Error - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on Android 4.2.2 and would like to upgrade to Android 4.3 OTA. However, I rooted my phone previously and change the recovery to CWM.
Due to camera error and release of 4.3 OTA in my country, I got a stock recovery from one of the thread in XDA here and flash it using Flashify. However, I got errors while upgrading using OTA. After the recovery tries to flash the OTA, halfway it turns the icon red. I'm not sure what's happening as I'm new here.
Please advice.

Are you still on your stock Rom? Did you remove something?

Are you rooted?
You bootloader is locked-relocked?

Yes, I'm on stock Rom but removed some stock apps. Is this causing the problem?

Yes I'm rooted. Bootloader in unlocked too.

Yes the Rom has to be completely stock.
About the Bootloader: I'm not sure if you have to relock it. There was no need for it on my OneX, but it could be different on the One

Unlocked bootloader = No OTA updates?

Hi guys, i'm a noob to rooting coming from iOS so sorry if this sounds like a stupid question.
I have just unlocked the bootloader of my HTC One using the method on the HTC Dev site and i noticed
that some of the stock applications were missing. After a little research it would seem that because of the missing stock
apps i can no longer receive OTA updates.
I just want to know if this is in fact the case and if there is anything i can do to fix it such as
find copies of the missing apps and put them back on the device.
I was only planning to root for the time being but am now worried that i will no longer receive updates
Any help welcome
Once a Ruu is out you can Ruu your phone which will wipe everything and restore it to factory then take the OTA then just root again. I'm sure other solutions will come to be but for now that's one way to go about it.

Unfortunately, I think you'd have to re-lock in order to flash an RUU. Only way I can think of is comparing the missing files and push them to the device again after rooting.

Solution = backup sd, relock phone, ruu phone, take ota, HTC dev unlock, restore sd, flash recovery, flash Rom

[Q] How to do OTA to get official JB on PhilZ-cwm6 safe stock kernel?

Hi guys, as per title, I would like to see stock rom on my device but I am using philz safe stock kernel. Updating via wifi reboots the phone and that is it, while using KIES - it freezes on my laptop.
Is there any way to update it via normal OTA update, not via odin etc?

Using mobile odin flash stock kernel for your rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371007 and then you will be able to install ota

Its very risky flashing a firmware.zip if ur S-ON. It would be much better to Unlock and S-OFF before flashing the firmware. Flash the 3.62.401 firmware TWICE in command prompt. I believe the issue was that you didn't flash the firmware twice. Its better to ensure that the issue is fixed before sending it for repair and claiming warranty

No, not with a custom recovery like TWRP
Can i use adb sideload to update?

No
To take OTA update requires Stock System and Stock Recovery
You can try with just the stock recovery contained in the OTA.zip it's self
but if your system was altered in anyway it will still fail
Thanks, so if i want to update it...i must back to stock recovery and unroot my device?

Root doesn't matter but the deleted files from /data/preload when unlocking the bootloader will cause the ota installation to fail. Any modification to /system files will also cause issue.
Flash your stock recovery and you'll see. If red triangle error when installing the update, hold volume up and hit power to see the error message and post it here.
