GPE and/or DEV Edition work with Sprint? - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Anyone know if either or both of these variants will work with Sprint? My Nexus 5 is fully compatible with Sprint as well as the GSM carriers in the US.
Thanks!

Check the bands and see if they match. My gut says they won't be fully compatible with Spark.

I can't find detailed specs on the Sprint website. I'll see what HTC has on theirs.

The Google Play edition is only compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile (it doesn't support CDMA 3G). It says so right on the bottom of the product page. I imagine the unlocked and developer editions are the same.

Are you saying that it might in the future? I guess that means the radios are present, just not accessible?
Oh wait, I think I understand. Much like we had the ability to SIM-unlock the M7, we may be able to do the same with the M8, right?

At least on the GPe there aren't CDMA radios (WCDMA is different from CDMA and not what Sprint uses). Sim unlocking won't help.

It's just like the M7 dev edition, it does NOT work on Sprint.

What is the advantage of a the dev edition? From what I can find it is an unlockable bootloader. Does that mean you cannot unlock the bootloader of a regular version?

Yes, the dev edition comes with an unlocked bootloader. This doesn't mean you can't unlock the bootloader of a "regular" version M8. But we'll have to wait for that, and hope your carrier doesn't block it.

Thanks to everyone for your guidance. I guess I'm going to have to wait for another phone. I was willing to buy the M8 if I could use it on both CDMA and GSM carriers, but it looks like only the Verizon variant has all the necessary hardware. To further prove what you have all said, this is a chart from the AnandTech.com review. There are no GSM radios in the Sprint version at all.

Why would HTC not put the same radios in both CDMA models? I guess every penny counts when you are trying to keep costs down. This is the comparable chart from the M7.
Can someone confirm that I am reading this right?

To proof it, turn your phone off, take the battery cover off, take the battery out and set on counter.
Next, figure out your location, if your in Europe, then no need to do anything else, your GSM. If your in the USA, check and see if your carrier qualifies as one of the following (sprint, alltel, verizon, us cellular, telus, bell) If you are one of these, then your are CDMA.
Now this is the tricky part, if you want to switch from GSM to CDMA, do the following:

[Q] Would the T-Mobile HTC One work on Wind Mobile in Canada?

If I scavenge around this site and Google hard enough, I can find this question asked a few times, but none have definitive answers. This is a phone that I'm extremely interested in purchasing, as the Sony XPeria Z and Samsung Galaxy S 4 don't have an appeal remotely close to that of the HTC One's. Wind Mobile is a hard carrier to find phones for it seems, but I'd really love to use this phone on my network. Since the international and LTE variant lack the AWS 3G band to support Wind, would the T-Mobile version be compatible? On T-Mobile's website, it states that the UMTS Band IV is 1700/2100, which should be compatible with Wind's 3G network. I would just like to confirm this is true? Normally, I don't like to start new threads to a simple natured question like this, but I'm pretty much desperate to confirm whether or not I can use this phone. That way I'll know whether or not to get excited, or just stick with my S3. Thanks, it's much appreciated.

Was on wind in the past, yea it's hard to find devices for this carrier because it's strictly on AWS for its data and services.
The HTC One might work...but if I recall correctly you need 1700/1900/2100 frequencies for HSPA+ or something.
If it's anything like the original Galaxy Note, you may have to flash a radio or something to make it compatible with wind IF this phone is pentaband. If it isn't, f forget it because no amount of radio flashing will work if it the hardware doesn't support it.

N6 - XT1100 vs XT1103 ... No difference?

Nope. There is a North America version which should work on all US and Canadian carriers. Then there is the international version, which should work on most others in the rest of the world.
The great thing about snapdragon is with only 2 versions of the phone, you can cover pretty much all the LTE bands in the world.
So if you buy from Play in the US. You get the North America version. If you buy one in Europe, you get the international version.

Pretty sure this is a long-time known issue with Sprint devices. That function is disabled.
+1 to what grabber said. Sprint is a scumbag company, and even though they let you unlock the phone, they disable the APN settings in the firmware so you can't actually use data on other networks. I had the same problem a long time ago with an unlocked G5. Previous firmwares allowed it (I've heard), but by the time I tried, they started the disabled APN settings shenanigans.

I have been able to find a work around for my sprint lg v40. In my case if I turn on mobile data, it will be turned on. But I can't browse any site. I noticed one thing though I can use messenger and whatsapp for text chat only. Then I figured out its a problem with DNS in APN settings. As the APN settings is disabled I installed an app from store to change the DNS. This app will create a VPN profile for you just to change DNS. Now its working fine. Though I have to keep using the DNS changer all time. App I am using to change DNS is 1.1.1.1 .
I have had my lesson with Sprint. If I ever have to pick between Sprint and other carriers, I will stay 100 miles away from this scumbag.

I just saw this today. I wonder if T-Mobile is going to whitelist this phone.

Don't get your hopes up, but I asked them to fix this urgently since there's not much time left before T-Mobile kicks us off..

I'm using the ROG Phone 3 on Google Fi (so, T-Mobile) and it does not currently support VoLTE, it seems.

Your not using the a model. There is an a, and a b model. The a model has full support of TMO bands, and volte.

Doesn't matter. They are not blacklisting phones without official volte. If it supports volte, which the a version does, it will work.

How do you what the version is? Is it a different model number or the Global vs US? How can someone make sure they get the correct version?

Do you know for sure if Model A support VoLTE? I'm pretty interested in this phone (coming from a Razer Phone 2), but the lack of VoLTE is kind of a killer (especially if T-Mobile is going to mandate it). I tried contacting Asus's support about it, but the guy I got in chat really didn't seem to know anything.
Also, does anyone know if it supports wi-fi calling? Since T-Mobile's coverage isn't... always the best... this is also a pretty important feature.

VOLTE, yes, VOWIFI, probably no, but i'm sure devs will get it working. Im also sure the guy who got VOLTE working on the rog2, can get it working, IF Asus drops volte before the US release.

Thanks. If Asus won't be implementing it officially, then I guess I'll wait for a custom ROM before buying the phone that does enable it.
Anyone know when this will be on ASUS U.S. store? I thought it was supposed to release july 22nd but cant find it anywhere except ebay coming from HK
Hi everyone!
I am considering to import Asus Rog Phone 3 CN version with Global ROM from China to France because it would save me around 400 euros.
Please suggest there would be any major issues with such imported devices? Has anyone imported smartphones from CN with Global ROM? Please let me know. Your inputs would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I heard on Reddit it was coming in September, but I think it's the same as last year where they do a surprise release in the store.
Comes out in September in US
