N6 - XT1100 vs XT1103 ... No difference? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys,
I was doing a comparison on a few different websites and noticed that there's two different models, XT1100 & XT1103 (US & Global models), but there didn't appear to be any difference on anything - including frequencies/bands?
Can you guys confirm this?
Thanks!

They are different, I was not aware of this either:

Thanks!
So, it looks like if you have the US version you're pretty much covered for the most part using it internationally?

Generally, you should be okay. Although the US SKU lacks Band 20 which is somewhat popular in Europe, you're connectivity is decent.

I have a Nexus 6 form the Play Store on Verizon. Their website shows as Non-VZW Device but I had a nano sim already and works without any issues for me so far. No visual voicemail because theres no way to install the app that I know of.

Nope. There is a North America version which should work on all US and Canadian carriers. Then there is the international version, which should work on most others in the rest of the world.
The great thing about snapdragon is with only 2 versions of the phone, you can cover pretty much all the LTE bands in the world.
So if you buy from Play in the US. You get the North America version. If you buy one in Europe, you get the international version.

Sure enough XT1103 is the US and the XT1100 is the global one. Good info. I learned something today. Thanks.

Sorry for bringing this thread up again. Which one is the international Version with band 20 now? XT1100? Google can't give me a clear answer with this one.

Might depend what ROM is on the phone. I don't have that on mine. Bootloader is good though because that is pretty difficult to fake.

GPE and/or DEV Edition work with Sprint?

Anyone know if either or both of these variants will work with Sprint? My Nexus 5 is fully compatible with Sprint as well as the GSM carriers in the US.
Thanks!
Check the bands and see if they match. My gut says they won't be fully compatible with Spark.

The Google Play edition is only compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile (it doesn't support CDMA 3G). It says so right on the bottom of the product page. I imagine the unlocked and developer editions are the same.

Are you saying that it might in the future? I guess that means the radios are present, just not accessible?
Oh wait, I think I understand. Much like we had the ability to SIM-unlock the M7, we may be able to do the same with the M8, right?

At least on the GPe there aren't CDMA radios (WCDMA is different from CDMA and not what Sprint uses). Sim unlocking won't help.
It's just like the M7 dev edition, it does NOT work on Sprint.
What is the advantage of a the dev edition? From what I can find it is an unlockable bootloader. Does that mean you cannot unlock the bootloader of a regular version?

Yes, the dev edition comes with an unlocked bootloader. This doesn't mean you can't unlock the bootloader of a "regular" version M8. But we'll have to wait for that, and hope your carrier doesn't block it.

Thanks to everyone for your guidance. I guess I'm going to have to wait for another phone. I was willing to buy the M8 if I could use it on both CDMA and GSM carriers, but it looks like only the Verizon variant has all the necessary hardware. To further prove what you have all said, this is a chart from the AnandTech.com review. There are no GSM radios in the Sprint version at all.

Why would HTC not put the same radios in both CDMA models? I guess every penny counts when you are trying to keep costs down. This is the comparable chart from the M7.

Note 9 us version on tmobile

Hi guys,
I'm new here and want to get yalls opinion and expertise if the unlocked US version Note 9 will work fully on tmobile network? I got it from b&h photo as it has a lot of freebies (Dex and the new dual charger) plus there's no tax.
No. 1 priority for me is if tmobile band 71 will work on this us version note 9.
Thank you in advance for all your comments and suggestions.
Great question. As far as I can tell, it has Band 71 (600mhz)...
I think TM uses some of the lowest frequencies over other carriers, like their cement drilling band 71....aweosme.

It should work with all bands. Just don't expect HD voice, VOLTE or Wi-Fi calling to work.
It will absolutely have Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE. I've had several unlocked phones with them and they all offer both options. T-Mobile is very open to outside devices.
I appreciate y'alls reply.

Do you know for sure if Model A support VoLTE? I'm pretty interested in this phone (coming from a Razer Phone 2), but the lack of VoLTE is kind of a killer (especially if T-Mobile is going to mandate it). I tried contacting Asus's support about it, but the guy I got in chat really didn't seem to know anything.
Also, does anyone know if it supports wi-fi calling? Since T-Mobile's coverage isn't... always the best... this is also a pretty important feature.

Flashing International Firmware on North American variant

All Galaxy Z Fold 2's have the Snapdragon chipset. So I was wondering if we can flash global firmware (F916B) on a North American (F916U) phone. Can anyone test it out? If we can do that, then we should be able to root the North American variant.
I've asked a few people about this and I've gotten mixed responses. So I was wondering if anyone can test it out. I haven't received my Z Fold 2 yet so I can't test.

Not possible right now, odin regardless of hardware will not allow cross flashing of different model numbers. It will fail everytime
I haven't even seen anyone try using the modified odin on the note 20 ultra yet let alone the more expensive fold.

U and U1 were the the same device. Similar to how the carrier variants of the fold can be flashed to unlocked firmware.
I imagine there's something different though that makes it so we can't flash the firmware from the international and vice versa.
Not quite sure but I thought there were really only 2 versions with the only difference being the amount of storage...
The US Unlocked version don't have the eSIM activated... I'm just hoping a software update will activate the eSIM like the EU one's.
This person has a US Unlocked model and was asked which SIM did he want to use but as far as i know, only the East has gotten the Sept update to enable esim

They've been claiming an update since day 1, still not here. I do believe it's coming though since it's an advertised feature and included in the spec; they pretty much have to cough it up sooner or later.

A "pre-sales" chat with Samsung proves they're advertising this device as eSIM capable, and stating it will be enabled in an update. So it seems we're getting mixed responses (maybe depending on whether or not we've already bought the device?) All I know is that the hardware supports it and their representatives say it is supported and will be enabled, even if that's only to make a sale...

This is the note 20 ultra thread but should get you started in the right direction.

Question Why its so hard to get the Global Version?

Hey, I've been waiting for 2 months now, and literally, there is no normal Global version for a fair price, I don't get people that buy the global version for 1500$ while its suppose to be 1-1.1k
Can someone explain to me WHY the hell the global version is that rare?

Hey you had to be quick. There was a flash sale on Aliexpress and I got my Global Version for £888 and Wonda Mobile had around 50 units 2 weeks ago of Global Version for £900. It's in demand and supply is low due to chipset and component shortages globally.

I've never seen those prices on Aliexpress and Wonda, Aliexpress is 1400$ and Wonda was some ridiculous price too, are you sure it was those prices?

Absolutely agree. Also, I tried to get one on Mi UK at release time on release date. I missed out only because I didn't yet have an account set up! It could be supply shortages - or it could be deliberate of course, but that would be an odd decision given the demand for the handset!
I got my Global unit from Wonda for about $1268 USD, but I paid $34 for express shipping. AliExpress had it for around $1,200-1400 during the sale, but they couldn't ship to the states. I'm not too sure why it's showing more expensive in GBP. When a conversion of $1302 USD should be around £916 GBP. Unless it includes some other customs and fees? Idk, here is the screenshot.

Rocking my global version for almost three weeks from AliExpress
The global version’s price is so high compared to the China version. Someone posted a Global version on Mercari for $1,550.
That’s insane. I have yet to see a Global version go any lower than $1300.
i managed to snag a Global version for us$1000 off my local marketplace, but that's it.. no more, it was one of those limited sets released in Malaysia.

I do feel like the bands could be a big deal depending where you live with the Chinese to Global difference.
Well, I have the global version and still on base SW version, 12.0.1.0, with not a single update yet, nor is it possible to get any information on coming releases.
Somewhat disappointing considering the money spent.

That's weird.. since if you look at the build list in the Mi 11 Ultra thread you'll see that it's 0.1.0. What's your build number ending with? Mine is RKAMIXM.
I just hope to get any update.

I use a china 12/512
It's blazing fast at everything except data transfer through that USB 2 port!
All the carriers in my country use band n78 for 5G anyway and it has n78
All of the 4g+/LTE stuffs also working fine

I bought the global I'm on the USA it should have 5G which will be nice. I'm curious of how the global will differ from the Chinese.

I wouldn't be surprised if you end up flashing the Eu ROM onto it eventually to get the features that are months behind on the global version lol
Technically, you probably couldn't tell the difference between them unless you live in an area where there is only one 5g band
