Change M7 carkit into M8 carkit? - One (M8) Accessories

Last year I bought a HTC One (M7) and bought a carkit with it.
The carkit wasn't exactly cheap, around € 50. The carkit for the M8 is almost the same, only the plastic holder is a bit different. But this is probably a piece of plastic that costs a few cents to make and a few euro's to buy.
Anyone knows if this is possible to order only the plastic holder somewhere? Because I don't like buying a new carkit for just the plastic holder.

I'd like to know this too. I can't see anything on HTC's website yet. I'l maybe contact HTC and see what they have to say.

HTC say the Carkit is compatible with all the ones

But it isn't.
The carkits for the M7 and the M8 have different part numbers. Also the location of the microUSB port has changed and the phone is wider and more rounded.
So I think it is just a mistake.

I was in the same situation, have the kit for the m7, so called HTC today. Was told it is not possible to buy the cradle separately, the kit is the same it is only the cradle that's different for each model. Kinda feel pissed about this. However I will sell my m7 kit to part fund the m8 kit. So it's not all bad.....
Still feel that HTC could offer the option of cradle only.

I wonder if you can go to the HTC M7 Boards and ask if anyone in your area is buying a new car kit for there M7 and they can sell you the M8 Cradle. Win/Win situation.

3.5mm Headphone Jack

Hey anyone know of a 3.5mm headphone jack - Ext-USB that works with this phone? I've been searching everywhere, but haven't found anything that works.
i got one with the phone well it was a 2.5 i think and i got an adapter from Radioshack... it's very ugly and dangles i really wish phone companies would just put 3.5 mm jacks right into the phone -
you can also google mini-usb to 3.5 and can find some.
yeah. i'm using the one that came with the phone but it's so bulky. I was just wondering if anyone found something better.
I am currently using this one:
http://www.usbfever.com/index_eproduct_view.php?products_id=289
I've had a for about 2-3 months and it works great
T-Mobile Store
If you got to your local T-mobile store you can get an HTC branded 11-pin mini usb to 3.5 mm headphone jack for around ten dollars. I've been using it for a couple months and it works great since it was made to work with the Android HTC Dream. It's a little more pricier than you can find it online, but it's definitely reliable, the connection is sturdy, and it's not terribly overpriced.
i dont recomment the one above because i bought it and when it tangles over time the black rubber part breaks.. try

i just bought one and no problems so far

Which rubber part breaks off? (So I can be careful and elongate the time my cord exists)
I gotta admit, if I wasn't paranoid about buying stuff over the net, I would buy that. It's exactly what I was looking for originally, something sturdy (mainly the one piece connection that is likely to break) and simple.

perfect i saw this on ebay a while ago, but didn't know if it would work with the vogue. thanks so much!
Im just using the adapter for my Dream. Works great, has a built in microphone and hang up button that the ones online DONT have. Connection is fair, sometimes you gotta tighten it a bit.
This is the one that I'm using:
http://www.oriongadgets.com/product_info.php?products_id=2087
It looks like it's bigger but I like it because it's got more cable, which to a degree makes it more flexible in where I can put it. The little block includes a mic, and also has the connector for charging and 3.5mm output. So I can charge and listen to music, or charge and talk using standard headphones/earphones with the built in mic.

Brodit proclip?

There does not appear to be a proclip for the HTC legend as yet - can anyone tell me if the one for the HTC hero also fits the legend? The shabe and design are very similar...
Thanks!
I have a proclip for HTC Hero and its ok for me, the passiv one. The Legend is stable and i can use it when i drive.
I have tried the Legend into the Iphone Brodit Holder and it steady enough, also because it has covered of velvet.
Thanks. I was particularly interested in the active holder. Anyone know if the connector lines up?

Great news!!
Also have the iphone one, gona try it
To answer my own question, the proclip for the HTC hero (active) does not work - the charge connector is positioned differently and is a different size.
Despite mobile-fun assuring me that it would fit
I have found the brodit holder for Legend here:
http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/holder/HTC+Legend-Brodit-Holder.asp
In Italy is not yet available also using the brodit code on the brodit configurator, but probably will arrive soon (I hope because it is free running in my car).
I got my Brodit holder for Legend today. It's the active one and I must say it is very stable.
Was a bit afraid that tilting the device and holder would cause it to fall out, but to my delight there's no risk of that happening. And rotating between horizontal and vertical is a one hand operation.
Strongly recommended, even though the price was quite high (~80€ incl. shipping)
I also got one of these last week. Am very happy with it - very stable if perhaps slightly too tight fit.

Dock

Does anyone know where i can get a dock for the HTC Legend? Looking to put it on my desk. Something like this would be perfect:
It seams the dock for Nexus one or desire, but this two phone have three connection pins (to charge the battery) in addition to the micro USB connector and I think, expecially for the form factor, that we'll never see a dock for Legend.
Sorry David67 but the Desire does NOT have three connectors.
It only has the one (USB connector) - exactly the same as the Legend.
I have so far been unable to find a dock for my Desire or my Legend but would be very interested to hear of any "out there".
There are now several docks from several different sellers on ebay. Mainly this version:
http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Base-Dock-C...UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item1e5ba07d1e
and this type
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Legend-Andr...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5ad90428e6
Second one is "better looking" with the chrome detailing, but from what I can tell from the pictures the Legend won't sit flush fit the cradle, almost hovering on the usb connector. The first one seems like it allows the Legend to sit firmly in the cradle/dock.
There's a dock (or 'sync-charge cradle') on Clove under PDA Accessories --> HTC --> HTC Legend. It looks quite nice.
Plenty now also on eBay
I bought one off ebay, works perfectly. Leaving ur phone hanging by the tiny little micro usb port seems precarious though, but what can u do...
If you buy from an HK seller (or China), make sure to pay the extra $1 to have it shipped via registered airmail, much faster and basic tracking number
I bought a Proporta cradle ... working fine and useful!
I went to an office supply store, bought a metal business card holder, bent it to the appropriate shape, put it on my desk, then put the phone in the holder. The USB plug is still exposed so I can charge it too! Total cost = $2.50 Canadian.
Docks are cool, but I think they're generally way too expensive.

The bent card holder sounds like a great idea. However, I am uncertain of what the card holder you used looked like. A photo would be very helpful to those of us who might like to follow through on your idea.

HTC One (M8) Car Holder Plate CAR D191

I'm on my third HTC phone and for the last two I've shelled out £45 a time for the official HTC Car dock but finally you can just buy the Holder plate and use it with your previous car dock!!!
http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=263306&phone=259879
I ordered mine off Amazon for £9.99 and it should be arriving in the next few days!!!
EDIT: Got it yesterday and it works perfectly, saved myself a few quid so I'm happy!
DAMMIT I wish you did this two weeks sooner. Just wasted 60 american bucks on mine. I don't even like it that much
Unlucky man, at least you'll know for the HTC One M9!!!!
I am so angry! I asked HTC directly if they would be selling this as I had the M7 holder and didn't wanna have to buy the whole thing again. They said no so I just sold it on eBay. And now they do this?! LIVID!

Well, i asked about this also a while back and there wasnt a way. Glad i waited cause i thought it was way to expensive.
Nice one spotting this
Hey,
Sorry to drudge up an old thread. I was thinking of getting this to upgrade the car kit I have for my HOX (D110) but I can't get the current dock off. Could you please tell me how you got the holder off yours to put on the D191? Nothings coming off with a little force and I'm scared to break the thing... Cheers :good:
Weird, I just turn the top flat part to the left. It's pretty easy to come off tbh
Verstuurd vanaf mijn HTC One_M8 met Tapatalk
Thanks for the confirmation man, after reading your reply just went for it. Hit it a few times with the hammer, stuck a knife under the cradle to try pry it up and eventually after much twisting as hard as I could it finally detached, now attaches a detaches no problem. It get's left in the sun for hours a lot so guess it must have just stuck a bit. Will be ordering the D191 today
Hey! That looks l exactly what I'm looking for. Is the back flat so I could put a strip of metal there? I have a magnetic car mount and want a quick way to mount my m8.

The back is curved like the phone, and has three prongs that stick out slightly, attached photos so you can see if it'll suit
Oh yea, I think I can work with that, thank you for that excellent response!
Hello. Does Your M8 play ringtone every time you connect or disconnect from the dock ? Mine is doing that and it's .... Me.
Can you plug in audio cable into it with this card dock? M7 had audio out on the top, so there was no problem connecting it to your car audio. Not sure how it's going to work with m8 where the audio port is at the bottom

Where to buy RC E295? (Original earphone)

Does anyone know where I can buy the earphone that comes with the device?

Hope this helps

Do not have the HTC logo on the earphone = /
I was investigating the thing with these headphones. You see... The original HTC One (M7) has these headphones without logo htc on the back of each earbud. These headphones also have button in the middle of the thingy. Mic is on the other side than the button.
Whereas HTC One (M8) has very similar original headphones but with logo and with mic and button on the same side of the thingy (button is not in the middle).
I have bought headphones which look like each of these two. I dont know for sure if they are genuine. I bought them for like 10$ each. In my case M7 headphones sound waaay better.
I also see that these two headphones are often confused and sold as the same (you can find shops or auctions that have pictures of either of them - they clearly don't know which ones they are selling).
Beware of fake ones. Bought one and got ripped, I have compared both and ate totally different in sound quality. Ordered the Xiaomi Piston instead, they cost 20 bucks and are much better, ordered from ibuygou
