Question about Google Fit - Samsung Gear Live

Is Google Fit active yet? I mean on the server side.
I ask due to the storage of fit data on the watch. I have set the watch to use fit for both steps and heart rate monitoring and I expected this data to be backed up to my Google account. However, after I did a reset of the watch all the data was gone and didn't re-sync as far as I can tell.
Any clues?

no clue, but my fit keeps going offline. it will log data for a day, then drop offline and miss a few until I open it again. Are you, anyone, having the same issues?

I'm afraid not, no. Mine records steps every day (resets to zero at midnight) and also shows a vertical list of heart rate measurements.
The data is stored in the watch though not on Google fit. If you reset the watch it's all gone!

I have the same question. I have a new One Plus One and didn't want to lose all of my fit data when migrating to a new phone. Any clues here?

[Q] Can my N1 using huge amounts of data?

Hi,
I have this big, big problem with my carrier (Orange Spain) where they are charging me an arm and an eye for data connections I didn't make. I mean I just got this month's bill and I owe them 150€! Looking at it in detail I see numerous data connections ranging in the tens or hundreds of megs, made when I wasn't even using the phone. There's even one where I supposedly used 1,7 Gb!
They assure me that the connections have been made even if I'm not aware of them, and said that maybe they're due to a faulty phone. Is there a known problem with the N1 or any Android apps where they might be using those huge amounts of data without the user knowing it?
The apps use as much data as you let them use.
For example, if you have unprotected tethering turned on - you're providing all your surroundings with free internet on your account. Don't be surprised that doing it will result in huge bills.
No, there is no "known problem". Apps use internet connection, some more, some less. Want to control it? Install 3G Watchdog or any other app that checks the amount of data traffic used, and find what's using it.
what apps do you have that sync data?
gallery syncing with Picasa?
Lookup mobile security backing up your photos?
email accounts with sync amount=all?
data is fairly heavy with the phone, I average around 5-8gbs/month

Nope, I don't. I wasn't even tethering by USB at the time these connections were made.

I never surpassed 400Mb before this, and I haven't changed my habits at all. Suddenly I'm over 3Gb.
No, 3G Watchdog doesn't tell you what app used the traffic. But there are others that do. Recently someone asked about such app, try to search the forum.

Well, that should rule out Android itself from your OP. It must be an app. Newsrob? You should look into any app that autosyncs. Also check their sync interval settings.
Alright, I ran some tests regarding this problem yesterday. First I turned off the phone and removed the SIM card, to see if there was any data traffic. I suspect my carrier is charging me for fake connections, so it was important to rule out the possibility of they registering connections while the card was removed.
I had it off for the rest of the day and, as expected, no connections were registered.
Then I installed 3G Watchdog and something curious happened: 3G Watchdog says I've spent exactly 91,4Kb, but Orange's web says I've spent 3,4Mb.
This brings a question, and the answer is very very important to me: is is possible that the phone is making connections and these are going unregistered by 3G Watchdog? That is, that the phone is using the Internet and 3G Watchdog doesn't see it?

Interesting. I would also argue that there is a lot more "background" data going on in android than on other mobile OS.
No, the connections don't go "unnoticed" by 3G Watchdog. But the charge for the connections isn't always calculated in "straightforward" way, as one would expect - please try to find earlier threads for it, I remember someone bringing this point already, and if I'm not mistaken - it was for one of the European carriers. For example, carriers can charge for any data packet, regardless of its size, as minimum of X size - so if you have an app that syncs and it has downloaded 5kB from the internet in 10 packets, it'll still register as charge for 100kB of data on your provider's site.
Check if they recently changed the calculation of the data charges - it might be the answer why suddenly you see your data usage blown.

This is, obviously, your bias showing and nothing more. There is no "background" data besides the obvious data - Gmail? Email? Contact sync (only when contacts change)? Data-syncing apps? Data-downloading apps (Maps/Navigation)? They're not present on "other mobile OS"? If they are - they draw the same data.
You might argue that Android gives a lot more "connectivity" to use by default, so users end up using a lot more data. That's closer to the truth - since Google apps rely on web availability, and they're available by default and easily accessible, they end up being used. On the other hand, it doesn't differ from installing those apps on any other mobile platform that supports it.

I already took that into account: some of the connections Orange is charging me for don't amount to a Kylobyte, so we can discard that. And I have single connections that range from the tens of Megs to a top of 1.67Gb. All of them connections I didn't make, obviously.
Install this:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.curvefish.apps.trafficinfo
And check, what is connecting. If it's your phone at all.
Thanks, I've just started using it.
Run:
tcpdump -vv -s 0 -w /sdcard/output.cap
After a while, open that on your computer using WIRESHARK. It will tell you EXACTLY WHERE your phone is connecting to, as well as what protocol it is using, and even (if it isn't encrypted data), what data is being transferred.

I am encountering the same issue (not so huge leaks but unknown as well)
TrafficInfo says me the following components use that data (every day lots of megabytes):
MediaStorage
DRM Protected Content Storage
Download Manager
have you figured out what that was?
Please let us know.
Thank you in advance

Thanks a lot man,
I don't know what that was in case of frandavid100,
but thanks to you I've figured out what is happening on my side.
I did tcpdump -vv -s 0 -w /sdcard/output.cap as you mentioned.
Your wise advice and mighty tool let me understand that my N1 downloads FRG83 firmware update from Google servers some times per day (but it can't install it because CM6 ROM is on board).
I really appreciate your help ! Thanks again.

[Q] Navigation

Hey y'all I just picked up a turbo on Friday and love it so far but I'm having a problem with the navigation on google maps, no matter what I try it won't accurately follow where I'm at what so ever and I'm kinda at a loss. Anyone run into this or have any tips for me?
I'd try these things if you haven't already
.make sure it's set to high accuracy under location
.coear cache and data for maps
.if it's still not working correctly, uninstall updates and then reinstall them
I've not had this issue personally but lemme know if that works. We'll get it figured out man

I was having problems with accuracy the last week or so. It always had me located about a block from my actual location. I don't think it was the phone itself causing the issues. I turned the phone off and back on but still had the same problems. Today it was working normally.
A warning about setting your location to High Accuracy. When you do that, it will also reset the "Scanning Always Available" setting under Advanced Wi-Fi. This setting allows Google to scan for networks even when your Wi-Fi is turned off. If I am using maps, I don't see any need to turn on Wi-Fi locations. I am not connected to a Wi-Fi network while driving.
Did all of this and success!
THANKS!
I'm glad it's working buddy!
How much data are you all using with google maps/navigation? I used it a while back and used .1 GB for about 20 minutes of navigating. I'm on a 2 gig per month data plan so I can't do that very often
I'm not sure off the top of my head but twenty minutes is about my commute to work, so I'll test and let ya know tomorrow
As an option to Google Maps, you might like to consider Waze. I use both apps, but mostly Waze. Regarding data usage, I just took a 5-hour (300 mile) trip with Waze on the entire time. The data usage was 2.67 MB.

Sorry about the delay bud, I work 24 hr shifts and remembering what I'm supposed to do the next day often escapes me until my cycle ends haha. So, for 20 minutes of nav with Google Maps and location set to high accuracy, mine only used 0.01GB.

Waze is really nice if nothing else for the heads up on cops running radar on long trips
No problem. Thanks for checking. I'll try it again and see if it's better. Maybe last time there was some abnormal reason for the high data use. I live in a really small town so I don't need navigation except every once in a while. I just didn't want to blow my whole months data on a trip.

[Q] WiFi syncing

Hi all,
Purchased the watch couple days ago, yesterday was my first day to really put it through it's paces. Everything seems copacetic except for the WiFi syncing. I've got cloud sync turned on in the Wear app, and WiFi on the watch is set to "Automatic". I verified the watch is indeed connected to a valid WiFi network, with no exclamation points, etc., and I turn off BT on my phone (but keep it's data connection on.) I then try sending a text from the watch, no luck - "Try again from your phone." fail message. I send myself a text from my wife's phone to my phone, the phone registers it, but the watch doesn't. I go into Keep and delete a note on the phone, the watch still shows it. It's not until they reconnect via BT that everything syncs again. Oh, and I tried it on three different WiFi networks (2 at work, 1 at home), no success.
Here's the only thing that I can think of being different. The very first time I turned WiFi off on the watch, there's was a small Yes/No splash screen that came up saying something to the effect of "turning this off will prevent you from syncing"... I THINK. Honestly I can't recall what it said precisely (I was too excited playing with the watch), but the multiple times I've toggled WiFi since then, I have not seen that message again. Anyone know what message I'm talking about? Of course since it hasn't come up again I'm convinced it's the reason WiFi syncing isn't working now. I even factory reset the watch and cleared the data on my Wear app, hoping to get that message back. (It could be completely unrelated, it's just bugging me that ever since I chose "Yes I'm sure", syncing has not worked.)
Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions.

Did you ever figure this out?
I have the LG WATCH R with the Urbane rom and have the same issue. It shows connect to Wifi just fine but if I am away from the phone, I cannot send anything...just like when I have no connection.
I think the pop up you mentioned just had a option to prevent the warning from coming up again but should not affect the option to disable and enable the cloud sync.
Nope, afraid not. I posted it to the Google Android wear forums and a couple of "experts" replied to me with suggestions that did not help (factory reset, mainly.)

Yep that has been my "solutions" too so far. I am not sure how the Cloud Sync works do you? It is linked to your Google account? If so, I have 3 email accounts..could that create an issue? I am basically looking for anything right now
Here's what I did find out: my daily driver phone is a Moto X 2nd gen running Lollipop. I factory reset an old Samsung S4 and set it up with a Google account I'd just created. I then factory reset the watch and paired it to that phone. Wouldn't you know, the WiFi notifications worked!
I then factory reset the S4 again, this time using my main Google account to set it up. Factory reset the watch again also. After pairing them, the WiFi notifications did NOT work!
So, I can only conclude the issue is caused by how I have my main Google account configured, although right now I've gone through all the settings twice and verified that I have all of my sharing settings (like location) enabled. Argh.

Well my LG Watch R is now able to work with Wifi for real but only at home. Not sure what I did...I just deleted my accounts from Settings and added them back.
At work, though even when it shows connected, I do not receive any info from the Phone which is very lame since it was at work where I could really use it.

I have 3 google accounts so I actually deleted only two that are not my primary. Then I went to the Sync options and made sure all was checked.
Then also for the Location I removed any other devices that are showing under my account that are not my Phone (tablet and older phones) but not sure which one of those did the trick.

Huh, okay, I'll give those a try. Thanks.
I did open a ticket with Android Wear Support and was told they were going to escalate the issue and I'd be contacted in 48 hours. That was Sunday. I just asked for an update and they replied that they have no solution ATM and no time frame to provide one. Heh! Oh well.

s there anyway to manually change my data used to my actual usage?

My billing cycle is on the 10th of every month, I restored my phone recently and my data was reset then too. My data now says I have used 1.51GiB but my actual is 2.14GiB
Its not a huge difference but since I come very close to my allowed 5GiB a month so I like to be able to monitor it closely.

I use straight talk and their app has limited features. I'm trying My Data Manager app. It gives me a live feed I can manipulate.
The data usage is stored somewhere, I forget exactly where, but I don't know of a way to update what is read. You could have potentially restored the data usage right away and been closer though.

Cannot copy google account to watch

After updating AW 2.0 to my watch, I am having trouble trying to set up google account on my watch. I have factory resetted the watch a several times, and I have cleared the cache of Android wear and Google service app.
Put the button on the watch. Go to the parameter, then go to personnalisation and enter your google account. Voil
I have the same issue. Did you manage to get a resolution?
or anyone have any ideas.
Running on Android wear 2.0 and Lenovo P2 on 7.0
Can anyone offer any advice on things to check or steps to try.
Basically when i try and add an account on either the initial set up or later, it never finds my Google Account. Just get the loading circle spinning and spinning.
I am pretty sure the problem is actually either the Android Wear app or the Lenovo ROM, as i can connect it fine with my LG G4.
Also have posts on the Lenovo forum and Android wear forum.

I am having the same problem. If you check google product forums, there are more people with various watches and phones having the same problem. I think its something on google's side. I wonder if downgrading to an older version of the wear phone app will work.

I was having this issue until today. I uninstalled the Android Wear app, Wiped Google Play services cache and data, downloaded and installed a Wear APK from february off of apkmirror, installed it, wiped cache and data for the app, reset my watch, and it worked! Rather than sitting at the loading animation forever, I was instantly brought to the copy accounts screen.
I tried going back to an old version, but I didn't go back to Feb. Thanks.

Thanks but no dice. Does this on both wifi and cell data.
solution is create a second google accout on the phone, disconnect and reset the watch, when you re-pair it to the phone both the old and new google accounts should show up, add the account you want and once the set up is complete go to accounts on the phone and delete the account you don't want.......worked for me on Sony z5 and moto 360
I just got the same problem, but found the solutions now. here's what the solutions i found from someone in the internet and it did work on mine. First, Remove your secondary or more google accounts in your mobile phone (make sure there's one left only), you can add it again later. And then you can try again to add account/ copy account from your watch.
The point is, the watch somehow can only copy account if there's only one google account on mobile phone.
Hope this help.

I tried everything and realized it was either downgrade to 1.5 or suck it up. I said forget this and bought a Samsung Gear S3.
Anyway, Google (and I say Google because this has happened across numerous brands on AW2) messed up on this one. I would have stuck with AW but for this, but their response has been totally unacceptable.
