Ok I'll look into fixing that,,, can you do me a favor and go to settings and then about phone and take a screen shot and post it on here for me if that that would be great thank you
It looks to me like the ambient light sensor is a known issue with the CM11 build as well so I'll keep looking and see if they have found a fix yet

This is a beautiful rom, creamy smooth and crammed with potential. BUT XBMC Gotham 13.1 crashes as soon as you try to play a video. MX Player will not run with its hardware decoder on (H/W or H/W +), so playback is pixelated. So this is not yet a video platform. Video drivers need to be adjusted maybe? Please keep it up, this could be the best JEM rom yet.

Just jumped ship from CM11/SGT7 4.4.4 (prior to that CM11 M8) and couldn't be happier, super smooth (CM11/SGT7 was kind of choppy) and snappy....
Nicely done!

Does this give a working GPS? I'm not so bothered about the other LTE features.
Also, not too sure about the install instructions, I'm a very new user.

Firstly, thanks for this great Tablet UI Rom for the Fire 8.9, your efforts are much appreciated.
I don't see anyone else posting problems on this thread, so if no-one else is having problems I'm worried I've done something wrong somewhere, I noticed another thread on the Kindle HD forum relating to the sister ROM on the Fire 7, but everyone there seems to be talking about the Kindle 7 and a version of the ROM that has a different release date to the one I've installed from this thread, have you amalgamated all the queries about the ROM to that thread ?
I've been using it since you released it and until the last couple of days I've been very happy with it, however, a few of days ago the tab started getting a bit laggy, so I re-booted it, the lag vanished - for a few hours - then re-appeared and progressively got worse, (ie. needed re-booted more frequently), over the next 24 hours to the point that the ROM became very unresponsive and I have now went back to Hashcodes CM10 to see if the same thing happens.
FYI - I did a clean install after wiping everything and used Gapps "gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip"
I've browsed through a few sites checking for reports of laggyness and noticed that quite a common cause is dalvik related - especially in cm10, do you think the memory leak is a problem with this version of cm10 ?
I've been using this ROM since it was released and have yet to experience any lag, and I've only rebooted once. Maybe the problem is with one of your apps?

Thanks for responding.
I have suspected a "rougue" app, and I have been messing with various sound boost apps to try and get a better volume for movies, but when they have'nt worked I've uninstalled them again - thinking I was returning the tab to a clean status - maybe one of the apps has left bits that are interfering with the OS.
Since you've obviously not had a problem I'm going to do a fresh install and leave it "stock" CM10/SGT7 for a week to see if it sort the prob out.

did u check cpu/memory usage when the system lagged?
I've just re-installed from new - ie full wipe and install from zip+gapps.
Had problems right away - took ages to boot, then setup kept hanging, saying it had stopped and offering to cancel - I just kept it going and after about 10 minutes finally got to first boot screen.
I've installed Chrome, FBReader, Titanium, ES File Explorer, MX Player, Adobe Reader and Beyondpod - the minimum I can live with.
Also GO Launcher HD and a Live Wall paper called Aquarium Free.
I'm using Tablet mode UI
These are all apps I have been using without problem for a long time.
When I press on an Icon to run an app, the system typically pauses for a second or two and then responds - then when the app runs everything I do takes ages - for example - on Chrome, my bookmarks take ages to appear, so long in fact that I often think the app has hung - when selecting a bookmark, there is a lag again of a second or two before the page opens - then there is a delay before it starts to draw the page - which also takes ages.
I'm typing this on my laptop and I know that there is no problem with my internet connection as visiting the same pages on chrome on my laptop is instant - as it is on my Note2 which also has chrome on it.
Quote "did u check cpu/memory usage when the system lagged?"
I don't know how to do this live, I've got show CPU usage switched on in developer options, the three numbers it is displaying are :- 1.01, 1.04 &1.23 - doesn't mean anything to me I'm afraid.
Pulling my hair out here as the tab looks great with this ROM on it - I just can't live with the lags.
(My other tab is a Nexus 7 and it Screams with CM10)
Is there anything I could install to track what's running and causing the delays ?
turn off the develop option and try this app.

Well there's your problem. Go launcher is a resource hog and it's riddled with trackers and adware AND you're running a live wallpaper on top of that.

I do appreciate your input on this but I can't agree with you on this.
I've been using both for a long time now and had no problems with either, as I said, my Nexus 7 and Note 2 both fly with these apps, also, the lag was not present on this tab with Hashcodes CM10 ??.
Also neither of these apps were present during the first boot when setup kept stalling.
I am going to try the app you suggested on the previous post - see if it highlights anything
Thanks
So I've been using this Tom on my original of and now its time to upgrade. My question is, does this rom only work on the 8.9 or can it also work on the 7?

No. The HD7 needs it's own kernel before ROMs can be developed for it. The kernel is under development, but it still needs time.

TeamVanir presents
VANIR
Yeah, it's got a HEMI.
Vanir was founded on the premise of performance tuning Android. We are based on AOSP, but include features (many of which have been rewritten to be more efficient) from other ROMs.
Our webkit, chromium, and skia are aosp/master merged with codeaurora, with linaro fixes on top.
BY LINARO, I MEAN GLOBAL "-O3 -fstrict-aliasing".... we didn't just switch toolchains. Here at Team Vanir, WE GO HARD.
Features
stock mode - ability revert to stock AOSP code with the exception of a few custom features we chose to keep active
omniswitch
enhanced performance.. longer uptime with less slowdown
custom written CRON and init.d.
UI and graphics improvements
custom navbar, navring, and hardware key features
improved notification handling (active display & halo are in review also)
usability improvements like power reboot menu and sound
animation control
Improved Vanir keyboard
CM's profiles & quicksettings
additional quicksetting tiles
immersive mode
statusbar mods
clock & battery mods
lockscreen blur and other mods
soon to come -> quick cam and flash notifications
busybox, embedded root, init.d, cron etc

Vanir forked CM's unified repo so everything is in sync, just a lot of different features and customization options. It works on my atrix hd, no issues.
There's an OTA Updater but it does not seem to be working, so you'll have to update nightlies manually.
This is a good rom. I have been using it for two days now.
Only bug is I can't get Gps to lock. I came from unified CM11 latest nightly.
I can not for the love of anyone in this immense universe get this or any unified rom to work with my T-Mobile service, it's annoying. Has anyone been able to get any unified rom to work with T-Mobile or any gsm carrier?

Tekno has an Atrix hd I think. Since the unified is detecting an xt926, it's writing build.prop settings for Verizon cdma. You have to manually edit a few lines, assuming you've already done the radio nv string hack. There's a build prop guide by coolloser, or you could ask someone with an xt925 to upload their build.prop.

I'm a hardware guy- HiFi, stereo, home theater repair. Let's hope one of the software guys can figure it out, it's really a great ROM.
Anybody know what do I need to add to the build prop to get my T-Mobile service to work with this rom since this and all unified ROMs keep detecting that my phone is a XT926 and so it's not letting me use my gsm network.

Wow roms coming thick and fast now, this is brilliant thanks... do we have installation instructions and a bugs list please ?
thank you for your good job!
maybe LTE will come soon either!
Jeez... i feel like i'm playing with my Touchpad again. nice work
WOW!!!!!!!!
I have done something weird with BT on this release, its not working. I'll fix this tomorrow.
Sorry for the few leechers, i have deleted the file and re-upload with same filename to add the bluetooth fix. But at least bt should work !
Does it need to be installed on top of cm11? Tried to TWRP factory reset then install a couple of times and just got stuck of grey kindle fire logo, wiping cache/dalvik didn't help.
You should just need to wipe system and data. Did you installed the first zip ? I forget to remove some oc code in it so it could be that. Also, it could be useful for me to know if it worked for someone
Don't think I wiped system, just basic factory reset in twrp. Tried with the original zip, downloading the new one now and will wipe data too before installing.

Then we'll have to wait for more reports to see. At least it work fine here so maybe I need to update twrp or your firmware files. By the way, what is exactly your device ? Mine is thor 16gb WiFi only, and I comes from 3.2.4 bootloader but updates non-hlos (firmwares) to 4.5.3.

First let me say thanks for this ROM! I have found that I am having same issue with video on it as I had with the CM 12.1 ROM, using VLC to play videos I have to disable hardware acceleration to play any MP4 format videos and for MKV format files I have to turn it back on.
Beyond that seems quite fast and working well.

I installed using supplied instructions and have a bug to report:
When the screen turns off it flashes the screen in the orientation 90 degrees from it's current orientation. So if it is in landscape and I press the power button, it flashes portrait and then screen off. If it is in portrait, it flashes landscape and then screen off. Totally superficial as far as I can tell, but wanted to let you know. Will continue to test.

I have the same issue on Slim, as well as CM with this device.
Guys, any luck with XPosed ?
I got bootloop after installing xposed-v78-sdk22-arm.zip, which was working on original and CM roms.
Also, I don't get random shutdowns on this rom (which made me crazy on CM)
Thanks for the effort! This is awesome.
Ordering mine tonight!!!! Can't wait til I get it.
Is Bluetooth a matter of time? Or is there a fundamental problem?

If anyone is looking to get the Fire in the US, ordering it from Best Buy online for in store pickup is the best way to go. I ordered it this morning and it is already in store whereas amazon has it backordered until December 17th+
ROM installed fine but whenever I try to open Google Play, I get ''Unfortunately, Google Play services has stopped working''.
Anyone know of a working solution?
Cheers
EDIT: I flashed a different version of Gapps and that sorted my issues out. (Slim_mini_gapps.BETA.5.1.build.0.x-20151121)
Thanks for the ROM!
