[Q] Z1 tethering question - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've just recently changed network provider to a plan that has unlimited data. The problem is I have a tethering limit of 4Gb a month.
My question is there anyway I can bypass this limit so I can still tether my connection to another device (mainly my PS3) without Three (my network provider) knowing?
The reason I need this is I am unable to get a fast enough broadband connection where I live, so have been using my 4G connection in the past but all networks now seem to cap tethering.
Thanks

Data transfer

Hello,
i've a HTC Touch Diamond and i'm using a UK T-Mobile simcard.
My contract doesn't have unlimited internet, so i was wondering what i had to disable to avoid that the applications running on the phone auto-connect to the data service creating extra cost on the phone bill.
Disabling the 3G thing should do?
thanks in advance
Disabling 3G means better reception when you talk on the phone and slower internet. If you don't wanna use internet at all just delete the internet profile at settings - connections. Or install NoData.

Need help tethering

How do you do it?
Also is it possible if my friend has a data plan he has a Sprint Hero and I have a T-Mobile G1 but I dont have the data plan is there a way to connect my phone to his wifi?
He needs to have some kind of wi-fi/BT tethering program installed and broadcasting. You would then connect just like you would to any other wireless network.
Can you tell me some tethering apps or how to broadcast it?

[Q] O2 Tethering and Nexus

Hi all, sorry if this has been answered already but i did search and couldn't find anything to this specification.
I have been using my nexus on the o2 network with unlimited data for a while and have tethered for as long as i have had it.
Recently i have had to rely solely on my phones tethering for internet as my home connection is down for upgrades. For some reason i can no longer tether it connects and windows even shows internet access is available but will not connect to any site.
Using cmd and pinging google it just says net connection refused.
Has o2 blocked my tethering? If so has anyone had this before?
Thanks in advance.
Does direct connection from the phone work? Try to browse a few sites on your phone.
If direct connection works and tethering doesn't - try USB tether, if it also doesn't - then you might be right, even though it sounds very unlikely to happen (technically).

[Q] Cap to Cap Internet Connection?

I am trying to figure out how to make "wireless tethering" between 2 Android phones work. Is it possible? I can't find any info on it.
I have a Captivate with an Unlimited Dataplan and a Captivate without a Dataplan. The one WITHOUT the Dataplan is on AT&T's $50 Unlimited Talk, Text & Web Plan (Prepaid). The Talk and Text work just fine but the internet does not unless I pay for a separate package. I was wanting to use my Rooted Captivated with the Unlimited Dataplan to broadcast my internet over to the other phone when nearby. We don't have Wifi at home. I use the Wireless Tether apk all the time for a laptop, but for some reason the other phone can't see the signal. Any help would be appreciated!
Put a rom that includes mobile ap on the phone with the unlimited data plan, create a hot spot with it, and connect the other phone to it with wifi.
I haven't done any Custom Rom Flashing yet. I was just wondering if it is possible to do it with an App like Wireless Tether apk.
There are instructions on how go fix this around it involves removing tge wirelesstether apk i did it on my stock rom and works great

WiFi Tethering on non-unlimited plan.

Hi All,
New to T-Mobile. Just switched from Sprint. My Note 4 will be here today.
I have read the Bible page and still have a question regarding root. I saw this thread which outlined WiFi tethering not counting towards your 7GB allotment if you had the "unlimited" plan.
I went with the family plan for my Wife and I with 10GB each. I'm not a heavy tetherer, use it maybe 2 or 3 times a month in an emergency and its usually less than 1GB per session so I'd be perfectly fine with it counting towards my 10GB LTE speed limit.
I can't find any threads that outline this. Only discussion about those with unlimited plans and using tethering not counting towards the 7GB tethering that's included with the unlimited plan.
Is it possible to tether with a non-unlimited plan (without paying the extra fee). I have been doing this with sprint for the better part of 6 years now with no issues. Probably because I don't abuse it but have never been "busted" if you will. I did have an unlimited data plan with sprint.
I also found a thread outlining WiFi tether and VPN restriction. I could not tell if this thread's purpose was how to avoid restricting PPTP/L2TP VPN connections, or that a VPN was required to use WiFi tethering.
Either way wouldn't be a bad deal. I have 300Mbps down and 25mbps upstream at my home, and run a simple PPTP VPN server to access my home network from time to time. So If I MUST connect via VPN to use WiFi tethering I guess it's not the end of the world but seems odd that it is that restricted.
Can anyone clarify? I've tried doing my homework but I'm "very late to the game" with T-Mobile. I come from the sprint CDMA world.
Thank you all,
Jon
Anyone?
AFAIK, with the 10GB plans, all 10GB of that is available for tethering. I do remember seeing that at one point when I switched from unlimited. Obviously, when your 10 is up, it's all up. Data is data on this plan.
