I guess its out? somebody needs to make a flashable rom

No Knock code... No visible changes from 25B

It's true. I just got the ota tonight

I think its true.
But diff binary file size just only 13.4 Mb.
It just seems from 25B's few minor or critical bug patch internally.

As a note, I got a new device today that shipped with it. No root methods are currently working. Going to see if I can roll back via kdz and root from there.
EDIT: rolling back via KDZ and then using towelroot worked

At least they're updating the phone and paying attention. I'd like to know if there's a soak test just like motorola has.

So, upgrading from 25b preserves root? Do you know if the hotspot hack still works? Thks.

I went back to 24a via KDZ rooted and now I'm on 25b. I would guess since I was able to revert root should stick but I guess time will tell. I don't think there is a 26a flashable zip yet anyway.

Don't worry guys, I'm sure we'll get knock code by 100b lol. In all honesty though I'm glad verizon's updating this. It makes me think we have a good likelihood of getting the g3 ui update later this year and then android l in 2015.

I got the update notification last night / this morning.
I haven't tried to update to 26A yet (currently on 25B) but I am rooted + Exposed + DPI @ 400. I think the DPI is the only thing that causes the updates to fail. I'll test and report back.
***Update***
Yup. I just installed TexDroider and reverted back to 480 DPI and the update is installing as we speak. Good info for those who mod. I never manually removed any Stock Verizon APK packages but I have many of them disabled. I've heard the Verizon Tether apk mod will break updates too.

I'm on 26A now. Looking for a way to root and mod the hotspot apk. Anyone been able to do this yet?

Gotta roll back to 24A or older, root it, leave the factory recovery then take the updates again to keep root.

I noticed on 25B, when I enable VoLTE, my sound quality on regular calls is horrible, wonder if this quick turn around was to fix that... I haven't tried it yet, waiting on an update to the rom I use.

I rooted on 24A. Got the hotspot hack working. Successfully updated to 25B and now 26A, with root preserved. Had to restore the original hotspot files first before updating. Hotspot hack still works in 26A.
I believe 26A gets Voice over LTE to work correctly. Will give that a try, once I figure out who also has that feature running on his/her phone. So far, only LG G2 and Samsung Galaxy S5 are supported.

I had to turn that half baked crap off since enabling HD voice on my account broke reception of caller ID from certain numbers (specifically my office). I had noticed a poor call quality (worse than the normally poor quality) but I had attributed it to poor reception.

So I'm on 26A and the LG Keyboard has a lot of buggy problems. I'll be typing and then it will randomly type a letter or two a lot of times. I know this isn't a problem with my touch screen because when I use SwiftKey I have no problems with it. It might just be my phone though.

Got 26A. Installed over 25B no problem. Was on 24A rooted/Xpsoed and went to 25B and subsequently 26A and kept root. Still at 4.4.2. No noticeable difference, but I think the battery life might have been adversely impacted. Debating whether I should do a whole factory reset.
You'd think with 2 update in 1 week, we would at least get 4.4.4 and Knock Code. Jeesh Verizon.

Stock D415 Rom

Hey, LONG time reader. My Nexus 5 just broke, so I had to stop at best buy for something in the interim. Knowing that I putz with phones too much to not have a stock rom to fall back on, I pulled my stock system image and boot files and made my own. I couldn't post in Dev, cause I'm new-ish.
Changes made:
De-odexed
Zip-aligned
Rooted
If you have any issues, post them below. I have only tested this on my own T-Mobile D415. Unsure if it will work on other phones.

Need Help Rooing
I have been searching treads like crazy! I just got a LG-D415 and used every single rooting tool.. yet did the new OTA update first not thinking.. now none of the tools will root. I even used the new towelroot thing which most people said works. I hate not having a rooted phone and don't feel like waiting for the tools to update to cover my OTA update.. is there anyway around this? I figured installing the stock rom would fix it but it seems to install that you need root for twrp/cwm and I can't find any signed roms to install on the factory stock recovery.

Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [MANUAL OTA] VS980 39A Lollipop (No root). If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
This might sound like a really silly question but it's directed at people who've successfully installed this on their VS980.
Is there an option for 'USB tethering' in this version (The option that allows you to tether your phone's wifi connection to the PC through a usb cable). I've seen it in pretty much every other android device but the verizon G2 only allows me to tether my data connection and not a WiFi connection. Could anyone let me know please ?

I would retry again, the 2nd update took much longer to install than the 1st one. Then it had to optimize 177 some odd apps which took awhile as well.

So perhaps something came up on one or more of the test devices not previously seen, it happens.
If that is the case, I personally prefer the that they pull it to fix the issue before it makes it out too thousands of users phones. And suspending rollout makes more business sense than causing customers problems, perhaps even severe problems. :good:

Wait until it's released
Is there any change on the root impossibility without flashing rooted rom? I've been away from the game forever. Sorry
We won't know until it is released. This update hasn't been released yet. Most likely the typical root method work (cf atuo root and towel root) supersu is already up to date for lollipop OS so if you are rooted just wait till someone makes the stock rom a flashable zip or if you are stock just use any method to root. Remember to back up internal storage as unlocking the bootloader wipes everything.

Considering every other Samsung phone on Lollipop, including the S6, has been rooted the same way as KitKat (CF Auto Root or flash SuperSU.zip in recovery), I think we'll be fine. "Unlocking the bootloader wipes everything"? There are so many things wrong with that statement. Odining a stock tar is the only thing that wipes internal storage (and not all of them do). There is no unlocking of the bootloader on Samsung phones. You flash a custom recovery or if using CF Auto Root it flashes the su binary to system/bin... no wiping on either.

Curious if it's the big camera update? I'm not sure, but I think Sprint already got it...
I have the unlocked version....these updates were there the first time I turned my phone on a few weeks ago.
Why wouldn't you want OTA updates if you plan on eventually rooting? I've never rooted before, but I really want to root this phone. Always told myself I'd do it on the next phone I buy.
What issues would arise from updating before you root? Wouldn't you have to wipe anyway? Or do you want to avoid any possible bugs with new updates? Just a little confused.
Thanks!

What issues would arise from updating before you root? Wouldn't you have to wipe anyway? Or do you want to avoid any possible bugs with new updates? Just a little confused.
Thanks!

Because many times root may only work for certain software versions. If someone achieves root for a specific version, and you have updated your device, you may not be able to obtain root.
Got one for tmobile/h932 as well though it's just a security patch. Bummer . Would like a stable 8.1 over root.

Feels like camera improving was made like the unlocked versions
Getting a software update on Sprint model right now. Didn't get a prompt beforehand, but assuming it's October security patch.
Edit: weak change log, but definitely included Oct security update.
System Updates
Disable system updates in Developer Options

Guys, don't forget that many times it's crucial to not update if you want root!

T-Mobile update as of 11DEC18 0620 CST

Still says "November 1, 2018" Android security patch level. I don't have access to my phone atm. I was walking and updating at the same time so didn't catch all the release notes. Sorry this post isn't that detailed. Mostly just a heads up.

It added hold down power button to launch Assistant, can't find any other changes. Ironically it doesn't include the December security patch.

Fingerprint reader seems faster, too. It's now OOS 9.0.1. Not sure what else has changed.
I woke up, unlocked the phone and thought I was getting a random reboot (ugh) but then saw the system update notification. I have auto system updates set to off in dev options, so this is a little disturbing as I like to do it when it's convenient and read the changes. C'est la vie, as long as there are improvements.
Update - found the changes in the OnePlus forum:

On bootloader unlocked devices you can't update with a partial update you have to grab the full ROM zip, if TMobile plans to provide it....
for some reason now I cant update, the first update I manage to unroot and update the phone with the first update, now I went to the magisk and restore the backup image then I uninstalled the magisk but it wont let me install the update!! anyone have a way to update?

Same here! I was worried for a few moments as I thought it was hard locked at the TMobile screen since it took extra time. Absolutely no warning just a sudden restart. WTF

I had just downloaded the newest Messages APK from APKmirror and i thought something in that download messed with my phone. It wasn't until it rebooted and showed the "congratulations your phone was updated" and then checked here that I wasn't crazy.

Elaborate. I use airpods ?
Edit : nevermind. I was being lazy. In audio tuner there is actually a apple airpods option lol
The international 9.0.7 does not have the December patch either.

Does this allow you to use the airpods as a headset for phone calls as well?
Got mine, and updated.
Given the speed the updates are coming, i might go back to T-Mobile firmware. Not worth the root trouble

Quicker than with other phones for sure, but still 9.0.1 vs 9.0.7
Im on Tmobile version at the moment, and will switch as soon as there is a way to do a complete conversion.
