[Q] Problem with AOA accessory and Sony Xperia E1 after update to v20.1.A.0.47 - Sony Xperia E1

Hi,
I'm developing an Android accessory device that communicates with the android phone over USB using the AOA protocol. This means that my accessory device is the USB Host (and supplies VBUS) for the Android Phone. We were planning to specifically develop with the Sony Xperia E1. So far everything has been working fine, but after an update to the version v20.1.A.0.47, the Xperia is unable to work with my device once the Xperia battery goes below 60%. It is not able to enumerate completely when I connect it to my accessory, and looks like the USB stack on the Xperia gets stuck. After this, if I connect the Xperia to a PC, it is also unable to detect the PC. The only way to get it to work with a PC again is to hard RESET the Xperia OR change the USB mount settings from MSD to MTP or vice versa.
Now my accessory can only supply 100mA current to the Xperia, while the Xperia declares bMaxPower to be 500mA. But this behavior is unchanged from the previous firmware, so I have no idea what changed internally.
I was wondering if anyone here could point out some measures we could try to fix this? Would it be possible to revert to the older version of the firmware? Or could I load a custom kernel based on the earlier version of the firmware? We plan to use this phone with our accessory for a few thousand units, so this could be a major problem if I'm not able to resolve it. I do not have much idea about loading custom kernels so please forgive my ignorance.
Thanks!
Govind

good luck with your project.
please post all tech info here .
seems no one yet came up with a custom kernel for E1 :crying:

[Q] USB OTG aka USB Host on XPERIA X1?

Is it possible?
I have O2 XDA Flame working on USB OTG (I think O2 is supplied by HTC) but the device is the way too big. Since X1 is made by HTC too, is it possible?
Hi VSJ, I've read it somewhere, let me google for a momment...
http://russelleclaircorner.blogspot.com/2010/10/customize-x1-usb-flash-drive.html
It's clearly written that X1 won't be able to do so due to limited hardware. Just like TV Out. So far that I know, no matter what to do, X1 has no required hardware or those things.

I am able to use the PS3 controller using the USB OTG cable. It works perfectly and I can use it to totally navigate the phone. Does that mean OSB OTG is working on the Xperia Z1?

[Q] Xperia Z1 PS3 Controller Issues

Hey all
When I first purchased my z1 it connected to my ps3 controller through OTG cable and then paired with bluetooth fine
I have now unlocked bootloader and is running a genuine Xperia global version of android (had previously a carrier based android)
Now however when I connect my controller to my phone it will go on, off, on, off quickly as if there isnt a strong enough connection (have used both genuine and non-genuine cables but still no avail)
What could of changed for it not to now work? Since its native and I haven't changed any core settings in the phone.
Thanks!
No go? =/ must I be the only one with the issue then?

[Q] Xperia Z (NO USB Connection)

Dear Genius - Developers - Friend - Specialist,
first of all I would like to say THANK YOU for all of your help.
You helped me to rescue my loved (Xperia arc S) and it was totally ****ed up.
But of course how could it be different, I´ve had made another mistake and I knew it was my fault...
But I need help __Urgently__
Problem :
Xperia Z is locked by a 3x3 Pattern-Lock
so far so good
But I have lost my Pattern, thus i´m confused and I don´t know how to deal with it.
Next my Computer doesn´t notices my Smartphone, although it is connected to the PC.
Possible Solutions:
Sony PC Companion isn´t working because I do not have a USB Connection
SUS is no longer available
The Problem is "The USB Connection"
I´ve opened the back door cover to look if it were bricked.
I do not have root or CWM or any other ROM
It is just the stock Rom...
I would be very happy if you can help to solve this....
ADB is not listening this phone...
I've got this problem with my old Arc S .My problem with Arc S was pm8058 (Power Management IC ) that was damaged and because of that IC i lost my USB Connection Completly.
Try to Connect A USB device with OTG cable if the phone Recognize The Device This Means you have data connection .
Example :Connect A USB mouse to phone if the pointer is shown on screen the USB Data link is working.
I think your problem is USB female Socket on Phone itself or Power Management IC that located on MainBoard.
Another thing :
Connect your Phone With USB Cable to a PC ,if the phone heats after about a minute the problem is IC.

[Q] Is it possible to mirror Sony Xperia XZ1 / XZ1 Compact screen using USB-C adapter

Is it possible to mirror Sony Xperia XZ1 / XZ1 Compact screen using USB-C adpater?
I'm not responsible if your device may become unusable or if you buy wrong adapter, I'm writing here to ask people and if I discover something amazing, to share it. Read carefully and help together

Is there any possibility to connect our device to USB-C adapter dedicated for e.g. chromebooks?
I found something like that on Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/comments/8jxmmq/hdmi_support_on_xperia_xz1/
It is questionable issue... Because of that: "Although the Xperia XZ1 Compact’s Snapdragon 835 processor is technically capable of allowing DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C, for some reason Sony have opted not to include this functionality"
So the question is, if we install custom rom instead of stock firmware, maybe it will work? There may not be any restrictions.
Information About processor I mentioned, I found here:
https://www.mobilefun.co.uk/blog/2017/12/how-to-connect-xperia-xz1-compact-to-your-tv/
https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/snapdragon-835-mobile-platform-product-brief
Also I found SIMPLE adapter:
https://www.amazon.com/Multiport-Co...rds=3+in+1+hdmi+adapter&qid=1574113813&sr=8-9
Did anyone try something like that, is there any required applications like that mentioned on reddit?
NOW I'M ON LineageOS 16 customROM:
For now I'm on LineageOS 16 on both devices.
I have plan to flash LineageOS 17 if there will be working Viper4android and edxposed on both devices.
How android 10 may work with it?
As we know, in android 10 there is desktop mode! Is it included in LineageOS 17?
But why we have to use only USB C ==> HDMI adapter?
I was searching for station with much more features.
I saw something with Ethernet, card reader, USB, mini jack and hdmi in one

Please share here your discoveries. Leave here pictures links for videos with tests and anything which may help.
I'm not specialist but just interested person and one more Xperia owner

I guess we need someone who can find and edit entries in the kernel for DP alt Mode.
I tried this Magisk module but it didn't work for me on Havoc OS 3.7.
https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/edm
We can't even use USB3 speeds. To me that implies that they didn't even connect all the pins, namely the high speed ones that would be required for DP are not connected.
When I first got the XZ1 Compact it annoyed me there didn't appear to be any wired display options.
I like to know I can do things even if it's unlikely I'll ever actually need to. So I bought the smallest DisplayLink adapter I could find and a power delivery USB C hub. Between the two I can output display and audio while simultaneously charging the phone.
Number of times I've used this for anything meaningful, 0.
Vysor can do that. So can Anydesk

OTG+Charge

Hello.
I'm currently repurposing my old OP3T with broken screen as an OctoPrint server. In order to be fully functional I would need the USB-C port to be able both to connect to a device via OTG (the 3D printer in this case) AND charge the phone at the same time.
I've purchased a USB-C hub (similar to this one) that provides this functionality but the OP3T can't do both at the same time. I would like to know if there's any kernel or mod that can achieve this.
The phone is currently running stock OOS 5.0.5 (Android 8.0.0), rooted with Magisk, kernel 3.18.66-perf+. I've read this working on OPO and OP5T via a custom kernel.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
TIA
Personally I've been looking for a solution for about 5 hours now. Been getting some hope, and then that hope crushed yet again... It seems like this phone is not able to charge AND be connected via the OTG cable (and the vast majority it would seem, some exceptions being for example Nexus 7). I also tried using my main OnePlus 7 phone for this, and it seemed like it also had the same symptoms...
Well, it's not only something affecting the OnePlus phones. I've tried many others and I've encoutered the same behavior. The only phone I could get my hands on that has this feature was the Sony Xperia XZ1C.
@J_M_V_S Did you find any solution? I also want to upcycle my OP3 for the same purpose. Found something here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/kernel-power-over-otg-host-mod.3201100
But not sure if this can be done on OP3 with 3.18 kernel.
