Delay in fingerprint scanner. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6

So Tmobile is sending me out a new unit overnight, "supposedly", since my new GS6 is having issues with the fingerprint scanner.
It stopped unlocking my phone and would crash and tell me to restart my phone. I did that and still wouldn't work. I did everything even a hard reset. It sorta works now but is super slow to unlock.
Anyone else having any kind of issues like this?

Lol you might have a hard time getting a lot of responses considering the rarity of this issue. Glad you're getting a new phone though!

I know, online I've seen 2 others on other forums with this issue. Just thought after the 10th I'd hear from more people, maybe I am the lucky one with only this issue lol

I seem to be having the same issue. I just got my phone today.

I'd try a factory reset and then have it replaced
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA Free mobile app

I had issues in the beginning, but it was because I wasn't used to using a finger print scanner.
What I have learned:
1) Apply some pressure (I was placing my finger in the sensor too lightly for it to register)
2) Record your print at multiple angles
3) Whatever finger you use the most register it under two difference finger prints
After doing this and getting use to how it works, it hasn't failed on me since.
I am sure that some scanners might be duds, but before wasting time with factory resets and exchanges try the above and see if it helps.

if you use more fingerprints than 1, it will delay more longer
try to use 1 fingerprint only and it will more faster

Unfortunately for me I have done all this too, and I used a 6+ for 3+ months.
Definitely a hardware issue I can assure.

Yep. Make sure you register your (one) fingerprint from a few angles, and it works lightning fast

[Q] Z1 screen skipping

I noticed that every once in a while, the touchscreen on my Z1 "skips". i.e., if I draw a straight line with my finger, it will actually come out as a few short lines with a break between them.
I notice it most in the pattern unlock screen. I will draw my pattern, but it will connect 2 dots, jump, connect another 2 dots, jump again, until I get the pattern wrong error, and in the second attempt everything is fine.
Has anyone else experienced that?

This happens every once in a while for me while using Swype keyboard. I thought it was a Swype issue, but if you're having this then maybe it's the phone. Haven't noticed it anywhere else but haven't tested.

I have this problem too... I tested it with "touch test", and confirmed my suspicion...

I've run into something like this when trying to pull up the pie menu. Normally, sliding up onto the screen from below will trigger the pie menu to pop up (similar to the default "google now" trigger gesture). Every once in a while it'll instead register as a number of taps on whatever is already on that area of the screen (thus triggering some untended action or link most of the time). Of course it won't happen when I'm trying to reproduce it or running some kind of test, but when I least expect it, it happens again.
To verify this issue you can also try going to: Settings, About Phone (last entry on the bottom), Diagnostics, Test Device, Touchscreen.
If the recorded line really does skip you should contact your reseller/ Sony.
If it is just an occasional error it might be Software and not Hardware related. I have not had this problem yet, though.
Oh finally so it's not me alone. Great phone but this single problem lets it down. I'm suspecting a lot ppl have it and dont realise. Not everyone uses swype keyb or swype pattern unlock.
My suspicion is the sony screen protector fitted at factory. Tempted to rip it off.

Hmm strange my phone's been having fur over a day now. I removed the screen protector that came supplied in the box and found the problem still existed. Now I've got a real cheapy one on and swyping has been real good.

Hey guys I'm having the same problem, too! Which firmware version were you guys using? Because I think the newest firmware .257 has problems has touch I will try to revert to .524 and update you guys later
EDIT : Okay, I have just went back to 524 firmware to test and I can confirm that the problem still persists.
No problem here, maybe it's related to screen protector?
Ok now

Hi, is your problem fixed? havent tried changing my screen guard.
Nope not really even though I was convinced at first. Problem comes and goes randomly.
My real issue is using Swype and it's driving me mad. As a workaround if I use my thumb it works fine. Must be the amount of surface contact while I swype.

So is hardware problem and will never be fixed?
For few weeks I never saw that problem on mine so I was not worry about it but today I tested few nice games and I realized that after a minute playing the game (Minimotor or HAWX) the virtual joystick stopping working. I have to retouch the joystick with my hand or take off my hand from the phone. All the time.
This is bad, so the Flagship Device is comming to be a Crap Device.

There was a camera update in 4.2.2 and Verizon has recently released 4.4 KitKat.
Perhaps check for updates if you haven't already.

I had the same problem with the Chase app. The problem is that for some reason, the check gets cut off on the left side even though the whole check is in the viewfinder. I pull back a little more to make sure to get the whole check and it works fine.

I still couldn't get the Chase app to take a good enough picture to deposit, but they just put a new version out that put black bars on the screen to restrict the area of the check image, and it works for me now.
It's not the camera, it's the app. I first started having issues with the BoA app on my Note 2 after an update awhile back. I found that holding the phone about 12" above the check works best. I always have to make sure all the corners are visible, make sure there are no shadows visible, and the check has to be as flat as possible.

Z1S (tmo), swype problems

I did the diagnostics with the touch screen, and turned out ok, but sometimes I get swype issues that are similar to the touchscreen problem on older Z1's-- you can see the swype drag line break up and I get garbage (2-3 letter) words onto my text fields. If I change hand positions/put the phone down, and retry--swype works fine. Anyone else having similar issues?

i have already highlight this issue to a sony rep at their forum few days ago. he have already escalated this issue.
Trying to hit the store tomorrow.... But I can't reproduce the error consistently, but I have gotten it to fail on the touchscreen test mainly on the lower half of the screen. And every time, if I reposition my hand, it fixes itself. I do notice more dust on the screen when it has problems.
Makes me think the screen is too sensitive in certain cases (dust, fingerprints,??) , or considering this problem started after I got a very, very fine scratch near the top of the screen....i.e. a scratch on the anti shatter film is creating some problem. I'm getting a zagg screen protector but it would be nice if Sony offered a replacement film.

Auto-rotate and moto display

I accidentally dropped my moto x 2014 while trying to open the front door of my house. It fell from like about 2-3 ft. I have a iblason tpu case and I noticed there wasn't any damage at all to the exterior. A couple of hours later, I just noticed that my screen does not rotate while watching YouTube and browsing in chrome. I have the auto-rotate checked on. I tried and boot into safe mode and still it does not want to rotate. I also downloaded cpu z and there's no data for auto-rotate sensors. I looked online and found that factory reset isn't gonna fix it also. Is there any other way I can fix it myself by opening up the phone and not sending it to Motorola because I bought this secondhand from eBay, but it still has 1 year warranty and I doubt I would be able to use it

I have read of several folks that have fixed this issue by giving their phone a few sharp whacks against their hand or a table.

This has got to be a design flaw. My wife dropped her X last night and the rotation was jacked up all day today. Tried to figure it out, factory reset, everything. Then I come here, read you just have to beat the crap out of it and voila...worked like a charm. LOL. Ugh.
For the record, I too dropped my Moto X and the auto rotate stopped working, I gave it a few bangs and it started working again
A stern talk and wagging the finger didn't work? Or a time out?

Software Update Fixed Rotation Issues

I plugged my edge into my laptop for the first time today, right away there was a popup stating that there was a update available for my phone. It updated and now my screen rotation works.
So, i guess it was a software issue and not a hardware issue like everyone assumed?
Just thought i'd share for anyone else with their screen not rotating.

I honestly don't know how large the file was, it just started downloading as soon as i plugged it in. Download only took about a minuet. Build number - LRX22G.G925VVRU1AOC3
BTW, I rooted with Pinngpong before the update and i'm still rooted, so this doesn't remove root.

The fix is making the phone use the gyroscope for screen rotation. If you have a way to check (very difficult 0n Verizon) I bet your accelerometer is still fried. I read on another forum that those who received the "fix" and were able to check their accelerometer found that it was still locked. Si it could be that the hardware is still at fault. ?????

Thankfully within the 14 day return period, I am getting a brand new 128gb model. I'll use an old charger until I see evidence that the fast charger is not the cause. Possibly a combination of that with the kernel allowing the phone to get too hot. I'd like to hear from anyone who's screen rotation works if they use the fast charger that came with the phone or not.

My screen rotation works just fine and I've been using the fast charger since unboxing (the day it came out). 64gb black if that matters to you.
I actually wasn't even aware there was an issue with the device outside of poor memory management. Maybe I'll switch an an older charger for now.
Also, be careful taking updates ... it's possible they've fixed the vulnerability that allowed us to get root way before any of us truly expected it.
