:FAQs:
Q: Wanna know about Aroma File manager?
Visit the aroma file manager main thread for more info---> Aroma file manager main thread
Aroma file manager is a touch file manager which can be used while in recovery. It has options for copy, paste, delete,
change permissions and many others. Also, it has a Terminal inside. So, if you forgot to give correct permissions to any
file you can do that directly from recovery. This file manager has got many themes, font, icons, etc. options and it's UI
is fully customizable.
Q: How to start this File manager in Recovery?
Rename the downloaded file to 'aromafm.zip'.
Create a folder 'aromafm' inside 'Clockworkmod' folder on your sdcard.
Now, move that 'aromafm.zip' file to the 'aromafm' folder.
We're ready now, when you want to use it in recovery just double tap anywhere OR go to "philz Settings" and select
"Aroma File Manager" and it will start up.
If you also want to browse /data, /system and /sd-ext then mount them in the "mounts & storage" option in recovery.
Q: Problems with Aroma file manager startup?
After doble-tapping OR selecting 'Aroma file Manager' option under 'philz settings' if recovery gives error: 'aromafm.zip
not found at /clockworkmod/aromafm' then, wait for 4-5 seconds and again select 'Aroma file Manager', because it maybe
busy mounting sdcard.
If still doesn't work, you've made mistakes in steps mentioned in first post, please do again carefully.
Q: Does your phone every time reboots to recovery?
This happens very rare when you flash the recovery using any bad app or via any wrong (not proper) method. What you can do
is:
-If you've made a backup of your current ROM then just restore only it's "boot" and then select 'reboot to system'.
OR
-You don't have a backup? Then just flash the ROM which you are using currently again and wipe 'dalvik-cache'. Then reboot
to system. Booting process will take time.
NEW: Now you can enjoy the full version of the recovery! Thanks to @Phil3759 for uploading necessary commits for armv6. And, everything is expected to be bug-free. Please report the bug here if you find any.
GALAXY MINI GOES OFFICIAL NOW!!!!!!
You'll now find Galaxy Mini in the officially supported devices list at the Main thread.

You mean, you are always rebooting to recovery and not to your rom?
If so, it is a problem of your device configuration by your device developer because this happens also in Jenkins recovery. This is not a fault of my recovery.
Now, you can restore boot of a backup (if you made any) or you can install your current rom again and wipe dalvik cache and you'll be back normal.
But i have renamed the zip and it does not work. And i tried another ROM but it all ways reboots to recovery.
Can someone else confirm that it always reboot to recovery even after re-installing a rom?

I confirm it. I even flashed another ROM and it still reboots to recovery instead of system.
Aroma FM works, but there is something I noticed: If you tap internal sd or external sd, they are empty, you have to go to storage/sdcard00 to get to your sd card. Can you somehow link the external sd to the sd card?
Thanks everyone for reporting....
I'll try to fix this when I get time...
ast00,
Internal sd and External sd will be empty because they are kept there for devices having two different memories. There should be an option: sdcard directly on the root directory. Please see carefully.
Good news:
My friend @chraso gave me hint about the problem. There was a very small problem with tags, I'll be fixing and making updated recovery today/tomorrow. Will also update recovery sources.
First post updated with newer version, v6.22.1 (18.03.2014) and also made changes so that you can boot into ROM after installing it. Hope it's fixed.
Also added some FAQs.
Please post back the Results after using it.
Please give feedback on swipe-touch. Is right/left swipe working? And please post your opinion on the poll above, whether you like swipe touch or it just makes things complex or you just don't like it.

Which ROM are you installing?
Is the install successful?
What procedure you follow? This is important, please tell me. Do you use 'wipe to install a new rom'?
Does not work for me either, it reboots to recovery and i noticed that to make aroma work i must first install the zip from recovery and then it works OK .
not that

[MOD]MultiROM for Galaxy A5 (SM-A500)

Introduction
MultiROM is one-of-a-kind multi-boot mod for Galaxy A5. It can boot any Android ROM as well as other systems like Ubuntu Touch, Plasma Active, Bohdi Linux or WebOS port, once they are ported to our device. Besides booting from device's internal memory, MultiROM can boot from USB drive connected to the device via OTG cable. The main part of MultiROM is a boot manager, which appears every time your device starts and lets you choose ROM to boot. You can see how it looks on the left image below and in gallery. ROMs are installed and managed via modified TWRP recovery. You can use standard ZIP files to install secondary Android ROMs, daily prebuilt image files to install Ubuntu Touch and MultiROM even has its own installer system, which can be used to ship other Linux-based systems.
Features:
* Multiboot any number of Android ROMs
* Restore nandroid backup as secondary ROM
* Use for example Ubuntu Touch or Desktop alongside with Android, without the need of device formatting, once they are ported to Galaxy A5
* Boot from USB drive attached via OTG cable
Warning!
It _is_ dangerous. This whole thing is basically one giant hack - none of these systems are made with multibooting in mind. It is messing with boot sector and data partition. It is no longer messing with data partition or boot sector, but it is possible that something goes wrong and you will have to flash factory images again. Make backups. Always.
Installation
1) Flash Modified TWRP with odin or extract the tar file and install the img file with flashify or another recovery that has img install feature
2) Flash MultiROM zip in TWRP
3) enjoy
MultiROM has 3 parts you need to install:
Modified recovery Download the Modified TWRP for MultiROM
Patched kernel *OPTIONAL* : Not Needed
MultiROM download the ZIP file from second post and flash it in recovery.
Downloads:
Modified TWRP for MultiROM: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=110082 Since the recovery image was too big for recovery partition, I used LZMA compression instead of LZO for the kernel, which saved about 3 MB
MultiROM: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=110089
MultiROM Uninstaller: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=110117
If you get force closes on secondary nougat ROMs:
Flash the rom, open /sdcard/multirom/roms/rom_name/system/build.prop on primary, or on TWRP with "vi" editor
and change:
Code:
ro.sys.sdcardfs=true
to
Code:
#ro.sys.sdcardfs=true
Then reboot.
DO NOT reboot the rom before changing build.prop line otherwise you will still get force closes!
You current rom will not be erased by the installation.
Important: Since the Kernel hasn't Kexec Hardboot patch, you have to check "use no kexec workaround" box in multirom settings
Adding ROMs
1. Android
Go to recovery, select Advanced -> MultiROM -> Add ROM. Select the ROM's zip file and confirm.
Using USB drive (not tested yet)
During installation, recovery lets you select install location. Plug in the USB drive, wait a while and press "refresh" so that it shows partitions on the USB drive. You just select the location (extX, NTFS and FAT32 partitions are supported) and proceed with the installation.
If you wanna use other than default FAT32 partition, just format it in PC. If you don't know how/don't know where to find out how, you probably should not try installing MultiROM.
If you are installing to NTFS or FAT32 partition, recovery asks you to set image size for all the partitions - this cannot be easilly changed afterward, so choose carefully. FAT32 is limited to maximum of 4095MB per image - it is limitation of the filesystem, I can do nothing about that.
Installation to USB drives takes a bit longer, because the flash drive is (usually) slower and it needs to create the images, so installation of Ubuntu to 4Gb image on my pretty fast USB drive takes about 20 minutes.
Enumerating USB drive can take a while in MultiROM menu, so when you press the "USB" button in MultiROM, wait a while (max. 30-45s) until it searches the USB drive. It does it by itself, no need to press something, just wait.
Updating/changing ROMs
1. Primary ROM (Internal)
Flash ROM's ZIP file as usual, do factory reset if needed (it won't erase secondary ROMs)
Go to Advanced -> MultiROM in recovery and do Inject boot sector.
2. Secondary Android ROMs
If you want to change the ROM, delete it and add new one. To update ROM, follow these steps:
Go to Advanced -> MultiROM -> List ROMs and select the ROM you want to update.
Select "Flash ZIP" and flash ROM's ZIP file.
Explanation of recovery menus
Main menu
- Add ROM - add ROM to boot
- List ROMs - list installed ROMs and manage them
- Inject boot.img file - When you download for example kernel, which is distrubuted as whole boot.img (eg. franco kernel), you have to use this option on it, otherwise you would lose MultiROM.
- Inject boot sector - Use this option if MultiROM does not show up on boot, for example after kernel installation.
- Settings - well, settings.
Manage ROM
- Rename, delete - I believe these are obvious
- Flash ZIP (only Android ROMs) - flash ZIP to the ROM, for example gapps
- Add/replace boot.img - replaces boot.img used by this ROM, this is more like developer option.
- Re-patch init - this is available only for ubuntu. Use it when ubuntu cannot find root partition, ie. after apt-get upgrade which changed the init script.
How does Kexec workaround works
You need to a kexec-hardboot supporting kernel or the non-kexec workaround as described perfectly by @nkk71 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...26&postcount=4 (Be sure to leave him a thanks!)

CM is pure android, rr has lots of feature regarding the personalization, so, if you want a rom wich is pure android, get the cyanogenmod, otherwise, if you like to personalize your android get the resurrection remix. Oh you installed multirom, so you can install both of them (you can install more than 2 roms) and decide which one is better for you
EDIT: if you use pac-rom you have to move this as primary, because it has a bug that won't boot if you set it as secondary
hmm is it normal to have "failed to mount /preload (invalid argument)"? happens when i flash rr
Edit: when i choose rr from the list, the device just reboots to multirom menu. hmm

Besides booting from device's internal memory, MultiRom can boot from USB drive connected to the device via OTG cable. The main part of MultiRom is a boot manager, which appears every time your device starts and lets you choose ROM to boot. Roms are installed and managed via the modified TWRP recovery. You can use standard ZIP files to install secondary Android Roms, daily prebuilt image files to install Ubuntu Touch and MultiRom even has its own installer system, which can be used to ship other Linux-based systems.
I am not the developer of MultiRom. All Credits for it goes to Tasssadar, the actual developer of it.
Features:
MultiBoot any number of Android Roms
Restore Nandroid Backup as secondary ROM
Use for example Ubuntu Touch or Desktop alongside with Android, without the need of device formatting
Boot from USB drive Attached via OTG cable
Warning!
It _is_ dangerous. This whole thing is basically one giant hack - none of these systems are made with multibooting in mind. It is messing with boot sector and data partition. It is no longer messing with data partition or boot sector, but it is possible that something goes wrong and you will have to flash Stock Rom zips again. Make backups. Always.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Via The MultiRom Manager App:This is the easiest way to install everything MultiRom needs... Just follow the Below Instructions:
Install the app (Links Below)
Select MultiRom and Recovery on the Install/Update card.
Press "Install" on the Install/Update card to start the installation.
DONE! MULTIROM IS READY TO ROCK!
You current rom will not be erased by the installation.
Download link is in the second post.
Adding ROMs:
Android
Boot into MultiRom Recovery -> select MultiRom -> Add Rom -> Select the Rom's zip file and click Confirm.
Updating/changing ROMs:
1. Primary Rom (Internal)
Flash Rom's zip File as Usual, Do factory reset if needed (it won't erase secondary Roms)
Go to MultiRom in recovery and do Inject curr. boot sector.
2. Secondary Android Roms
If you want to change the Rom, delete it and add new one. To update the Rom, follow these steps:
Go to MultiRom -> List Roms and select the Rom you want to update.
Select "Flash zip" and Flash the Rom's zip File.
Explanation of recovery menus:
Main menu
- Add Rom - Add Rom to Boot
- List Roms - List Installed Roms and Manage Them
- Inject boot.img File - When you Download something, for example a Kernel, which is Distributed as a Whole boot.img (eg. Qassam Kernel), you have to use this option on it, otherwise you would lose MultiRom.
- Inject curr. boot sector - Use this option if MultiRom does not show up on boot, for example after Kernel Installation.
- Settings - Well, SETTINGS!
Manage Rom
- Rename, Delete - No Need to Explain this I Think!
- Flash Zip (Only Android Roms) - Flash zip to the Rom, for example GAPPS
- Add/Replace boot.img - Replaces boot.img used by this Rom, this is more like a Developer Option.
- Re-Patch init - This is available only for Ubuntu. Use it when Ubuntu cannot find the root partition, i.e. after apt-get upgrade which changed the init script.

Hey Thanks a lot for trying and reporting...
Can you test something?
Just install mrom from app
Then goto recovery and add rom and see if you can add roms?
Also try once without injecting anything?
Coz that sometimes works too?

Man that was fast. Will definitely flash this after I get my H8 Pro.
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
Hello,
I tested the package, unfortunately after the flash and first boot impossible to return under android.
If I remember correctly there was a problem of mount point.
To get out I had to flasher the recovery and system partitions of the original rom.
Having to reset my phone I have no log, but if you need anything else do not hesitate.

New Version (3.1.1-1) available - You can find more infos in OP.
This release fixes partition mounting on emmc 5.1 based devices
Source code is now also up and can be built!

Wow that was faster than I could learn to do it.
Great job. May I ask how you got the important informations to build this?
Did you inject su into the image to gain root and then read all the detailed data through terminal or adb or root file explorer?
Just asking cause i train my brain more and more in my spare time and want to get behind the knowledge base to learn. :good:
First of all thank you for your work, I got the Recovery, root, Magisk, etc. running.
I have 2 Questions:
1. the internal storage when I boot to the recovery looks like enrypted (lots of random named folders). Is it possible to decrypt it for now, since there is currently no custom kernel available?
2. Can I flash the Firmware update to 130b in TWRP? If yes, wich package do I need to choose?
Cheers
Would this work on the Chinese V9 variant?

Yes it should work. Just make sure that both backup and restore destinations are either both encrypted or both decrypted.

When I do this how does a runnnign TWRP know where to put the 3.3.1 TWRP?
Worried not to screw the boot up of the tablet.
On another note: How do I back up the tablet with TWRT? Which partitions do I need to back up?
Thanks very much for this !! It is orders of magnitude better than the TWRP from the original.
Now I can actually backup and restore and access all the partitions.
I think I found a bug with twrp-mustang-3.3.1. with a fire 7 2019 and SDcard extended storage. To reproduce.
1. On the fire browser download SOD-fix-test.zip from https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...&postcount=253
2. Reboot into TWRP
3. Install SOD-fix-test.zip from /sdcard/download
4. Using the file manager, Note the file 12wakelock_for_sod is NOT in /system/etc/init.d
5. Using the file manager, copy /sdcard/download/SOD-fix-test.zip to another location like /tmp
6. Install SOD-fix-test.zip from /tmp
7. Note now the file is correctly installed in /system/etc/init.d
Thanks! Backup and restore worked great! Been missing that for a bit now.

Don't flash that script, it is useless as described here and here. However I did create an app that holds an actual wakelock and also blocks wifi when the screen is off, vastly increasing stability.

Thanks for the warning that my example was an ugly hack/workaround. My point is not the script, the point was to report a bug. You don't have to use that file, it was just an example to highlight the problem with TWRP. If you install stuff to /etc from downloads the install will fail without warning the user.
This worked before, but I don't think I had an SDCARD installed at the time. So I think it's related to that.
Is there an austin build of TWRP?
If so, I cannot find it.
