[Q] Just picked up the G4. Version H811. Is this stock or after an OTA? - T-Mobile LG G4

Sorry if the title is confusing. As autoprime warns here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61672737&postcount=622, we should not be taking any OTA updates as they may limit our rooting ability in the future. My G4 was updating at the counter as he processed my info, and it currently sits at H81110h. Is this stock? Or is this an OTA updated version? If it's an update, do we have a method in place to roll back to H810 so I can then block out any OTA's? Thanks in advanced everyone!

You can't stop OTA with T-Mobile’s G4... It automatically does it regardless of state of phone or battery.
so yeah I'm sure you got the latest version.

Question in regards to 1.29.xxx OTA?

Man after a fun 2 hours getting my phone back to stock, now I'm wondering, does the 1.29.xxx update even apply to my particular device? Mine is an AT&T, with version 1.26.502.12. It was until i used the RUU to regain stock and lose root. But everything i've scoured mentioned updates to 1.29.401 and an update to the Dev version. My version isn't even listed of the RU variants list

So, would anyone explain to me, WTF? Is the 1.29 update not meant for my phone? I've run the device updater several times and it says my phone is up to date. I guess I'm asking primarily because I read that this update helps fix some issues like the responsiveness of the back button.
You have to wait till att approves the update, some carriers can be very slow with approving updates. You cannot install updates which are not meant for your carrier, but since you are already unlocked you can just install a custom rom and enjoy the updates all the same.

[Q] XT1095 - Lollipop OTA Update Requirements

I have a Xt1095 PE Moto X. Can anyone clarify that if I have an unlocked bootloader and have rooted my phone if I will indeed receive the OTA for Lollipop and if it will install without issue? I haven't received any system update notifications nor when I check through the settings page, it states that I am up to date with KitKat. I don't mind waiting if I know I will receive it but I am not, I will manually flash it via the guide in the other thread.

Won't work. You have to be on stock. Reflash the factory images. Then sideload the ota. There are a bunch of guides.

Thank you very much sir. I figured this was the case but couldn't find any definitive post.
I think I'm in the same boat. Mine came with the boot loader already unlocked and system rooted. My recovery is stock.
Will this prevent the ota update?

OTA Update for Sprint HTC M8

Quick question. My device is rooted, has twrp, and s off. HTC or Sprint sent OTA 3.31.651.2 to my phone today. Is it safe to download? If so, will I lose root? If not, can you supply link on how I should update? Thank you.

For OTA updates you need to have a %100 stock rom (that includes stock recovery too) . You could download the update but all it will do restart the phone to TWRP and do nothing over there. +wrong thread
Edit: I think there is a way to get the update but you have to search for it.
Thank you. ?

OTA Update

I just received an S5 AT&T with ND3 base. The phone is constantly asking me to update but I'm not sure what base will be added. If I take the OTA update will I lose root and if so, will I be able to reroot the device? Or, do I just ignore any OTA updates altogether. I remember being aware of taking OTA updates on my Note II. I'm on a stock odexed factory rom with root only and xposed. Thanks!

If you take the NG3 Update it will break root.
That being said if you want the latest ATT firmware update use this method it's quite easy to do.

Marshmallow build VS986 UPDATE - can this be installed over a rooted phone?

just got an OTA notice. Safe to install on a rooted phone?
If not, what is the method to install it safely?
Why did you get an OTA update for Verizon if you are using a TMobile G4 ?
actually, I dunno what the build is coz I haven't installed it. Just assumed it was the same based on the release date. Silly me.
In any case, I have the OTA update waiting on the phone and would like to install, if it's safe to do on a rooted G4.
