Limited download rate on wifi but not 4G - Moto G 2014 LTE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, I'm facing a problem here that is beyond my knowledge.
I installed 9gag app last year and it works like a charm but lately a problem start to appear with no reason.
When I connect on 9gag using MY HOUSE WIFI, my download rate is limited to ~45 kbps.
I really can't use it. It takes like a minute to download a gif. Pretty much useless.
Interestingly, when I connect with SOMEONE ELSE WIFI or use my 4G INTERNET, it takes normal internet speed (1.5 mbps tops).
Now the trick: it only happends on 9GAG app using MY WIFI.
All other apps works flawlessly on wifi or 4g connection.... On PC 9gag looks fine though.
Tried so far:
a) reset modem/router configs;
b) app uninstall/install;
c) app clear cache/configs;
d) uninstall internet meter (who knows, right?).
Any ideas? Clues? Solutions?

[Q] Slow internet connection with wifi?

As the title says for some reason when I am connected to my home router via wifi I am getting horribly slow connection speeds. Some games I've gotten require that you download a 250 or so meg file.however its utterly impossible as it downloads at like 40kb/s. I use to be able and sometimes once in a while I can get it to connect at 10mb/s and for a little bit it'll download the game at that speed too, but then revert to god awful speeds again, where speed test will go to something like 100kb/s down.
Any idea what is happening our how to fix it so I can always have the fastest speeds available?

Have you ruled out the router as the issue? The routers I have owned in the past have a "best used before" date so to speak... they seem to burn out and get awfully slow after heavy prolonged use.
If the router is good, information on your ROM might be helpful.
Try resetting your router to the default settings.
Oh sorry, I'm using the leaked froyo 2.2 update. As for my router I'm running ddwrt on a linksys wrt54g2.. I don't think its the router as I've got another computer connected wirelessly that seems to run fine..

Wifi probs?

Hello! I got a problem thats anoying me! it goes like this when i reboot my phone the wifi is realy fast and the browsing goes smooth but after like 40 50 hours uptime it seems slowed down youtube laggs and the browsing is not that smooth like it is when i reboot it! I tryd the mobile network to compare and theres no lagg at youtube and the browsing is smooth so someone have the same problem? i got no wifi error i always can connect but it is slowed down after a time!
I haven't experienced the same problems, but mostly before i flash a new rom before it reaches the 24 hours.
But you might want to post some more info, like which rom are you running etc. etc. in order for us to be any help

I have modaco fr19 rom! but i hade the same problem at original rom! I can say its like this when u start a youtube clip it laggs and the sound is choopy but if u wait to the whole clip is complete buffering its no lag! hope u understand me
maybe you just have slow internet connection?
But shouldent it lagg on mobile network also then ? becouse thats slower than my wifi
get a internet speed test from market (like the ookla) and test both, wifi and mobile network. i think that you have a slower wifi (just guessing)
ok i tested it and on wifi i got ping: 32ms down 2116 kbps up 1536
and on the mobile data i got ping: 98 ms down: 896 up: 290
Sometimes when I try to connect to wifi it fails to detect any networks and in the wireless settings it just says "error" and I have to reboot. This happens about once a week on stock, rooted rom

lazy wifi?

so my Wi-Fi gets 16 Mbps+ and my lte gets only like 1 at home however things like Facebook update images and videos much slower on Wi-Fi. and sometimes images don't load at all on Wi-Fi but on lte everything works as expected. no packet loss and better ping on Wi-Fi... so I don't understand what's going on

Wifi slow with lte

I have a weird issue when connected to wifi and lte on in mobile networks my wifi speeds are slow, but when I pull the sim card or drop down to wcdma in the mobile settings it goes back to full speed. I am not sure if the sim card is bad or if it's something on tmobile's end anyone else have this issue. To test put the phone in airplane mode and turn on wifi and check you speeds it really noticeable in the YouTube app or instagram.

I get the same speed in plane mode with Wifi on as I do with LTE on. Maybe some router specs? Im only using Wireless N, so if you're using AC I can't perform the same test as you.
I am getting slow speeds but I have the At&t model. I'm only getting around 4-5 down and 20 up and I have 2 of them doing the same exact thing. Both my old Note 3's and my S4 active are pulling 15-20 down and 18-20 up every time. AC dual router 2.4 and 5.0

same exact issue, when I am connected through wifi and tmobile LTE, my dl speeds are 120mbps and ul speeds are ~mbps, but apps in general take forever to load. I tested the same way you did, I turned on airplane mode and turned off wifi after and connected and it is super fast. I can't seem to figure out why wifi and LTE are so slow together.
I have a weird problem also, on WiFi at home I have full Internet speed on chrome and YouTube but on Facebook it won't load. But when I switch to lte data everything works properly. It's probably a WiFi setting but I didn't have this problem on my nexus 5 on WiFi at home

Try force stop beaming service and then check it out, as in my case it causes after it updates the beaming service
Has anyone found a fix for this issue?
My home wifi seems to cause massive lag for the bloatware version of facebook. Other apps have great speed and download times. However I have no issues anywhere else just at home. If I switch to 4G it runs just fine.

Slow wifi speed - except browser

Hi,
I had the same issue months ago but it was gone to the next day until now.
The internet speed when using WiFi (doesn't matter if at home, at work or other places including public hit soits) is very slow in nearly every app, except web browsers.
9gag or YouTube for example are loading extremely slow...both are taking 3-10 minutes to load their content. If I visit the same pages with a browser like chrome, edge, Firefox or Vivaldi (yes, I tested every of these apps) the content loads as fast as it should.
Also a Speedtest shows the same but the download rates aren't saying, that the internet is that slow:
Browser: 56Mbit/s down, 19Mbit/s up, ping 6ms, jitter 2ms, 0% loss
App: 89Mbit/s down, 19Mbit/s up, Ping 7ms, jitter 2ms, 0% loss
(For comparison with wireless Win10 laptop: 91 Mbit/s down, 19 Mbit/s up, Ping 4ms, Jitter 1ms - same network)
App and browser test are provided by speedtest.net using the same server and the same wifi network.
If I'm using 4G everything loads fine, no problems.
What I already did:
- boot without Magisk
- Disabled AdAway Host file (including reboot)
- Rest Network settings
- tried 2.4 and 5ghz networks
- Restore older network settings with titanium
- restarted my router
- deleted my phone from my router so it set it up as a new device
I really don't have any clue what this issue can cause but I noticed this since I got the S10 in March'19 and it comes and goes frequently though all version since then.
My wife doesn't have any issues with her Huawei P20 on the same networks, so it has to be the phone.
My Exynos S10 is currently on ASG8 (Unlocked EU) and rooted with Magisk, as I mentioned above.
Does anyone have a solution or workaround for this? It's very annoying - especially because I don't have very good mobile data connection where I live (directly inside of a huge town in Germany...sad but true).
Greetings,
Jannomag
