I can confirm that the Verizon one linked above me does activate quick charge. I haven't used it other than testing but it did get the same notification I get with the turbo charger.

The Verizon car charger works. I have it and works just as good, if not better, than the turbo wall charger. Loving it.

Damn... 7 bucks shipping kills it. I'm going wait a little longer till some of these charges are offered with prime.

Well, it's not a turbo charger, but I'm gonna keep using my techmatte car charger that I've been using for two phones now. Charges pretty quickly, I have no reason to upgrade.

Would a 12v to 110v power inverter not work just as well?

This charger seems to be sold under different brand names, like Extsud, Ivoler. Seems to be the same device, so this is the least expensive price I found. Here's the Ivoler below, a few dollars more, but seems to be the same thing -- except it comes with a USB cable. I have plenty of those already!

Be careful! Some "dual port" car chargers have only ONE Turbo (Qualcomm 2.0) port, and the other is a regular port. Why? 2.0 technology is backwards compatible, will not hurt non-2.0 devices. So, silly for a dual port car charger being advertised as "2.0" to have only one actual 2.0 port in many cases. Read the descriptions carefully!
Both these (same device under two different brand names) does have TWO Turbo (Qualcomm 2.0) ports!

I guess I don't understand why you bought a dual port charger inferior to the one below and more expensive.
I specifically hate the dual port chargers that only come with one Quick Charge port. That makes NO sense. Both ports should be Quick Charge or nothing.
The one below has TWO Quick Charge ports, so no need to much around trying to figure out which is which. And the ports safely downgrade if it's not a Quick Charge device. You can charge a simple flip phone if you want.
And it costs less money.
Soon, all devices will be Quick Charge so you will need both to be Quick Charge anyway... When my wife rides in the car we both charge our Quark phones.
But again, if you plug a non-Quick Charge device into a Quick Charge port, it still charges just fine. So, no need to EVER buy a non-Quick Charge charger again.

Damn. I wish I would have seen this before I bought the other one. Oh well. I bought a Qi charging car dock anyway, so I can have that plugged into the regular port and plug the phone into the quick charge port if needed.

Nexus 5X car charger

Nexus 5X just announce yesterday, google said it support fast charge, 5V @3a, TOTAL 15W, but never mentioned if it support qualcomm quick charge 2.0 . Since the Nexus 5X use snapdragon 808, it suppose to support quick charge 2.0?
But anyway, since the nexus 5x use the type c port, the regular car charger won't work it, at least you need to prepare another type c cable or adapter. but today i will recommend a tronsmart type c car charger:

The problem with that charger is it doesn't charge at 5V/3A like the charger that comes with the phone (USB Type-C 15W (5V/3A) charger). The Nexus 5X and 6P do not support Qualcomm Quick Charge technology, so the Tronsmart charger will charge it, but not at full speed.
We need a car charger that does 5V/3A and uses USB-C. The only one I've run across so far is this one: http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B014F2NQ36
I assume there will be many more options in the coming weeks.

Is that a reputable brand? All my aftermarket chargers have pretty much been either Anker or Aukey and I've had great success with them.

That's good to hear, I hope to see some Type-C 5V/3A chargers soon because I need/want tk change over most of my chargers from QC2.0 to the USB Type-C standard. I believe they would need to be Type-C to Type-C and not type a to Type-C in order to support the 3A at 5V which would make it even easier in the long run

I wanted to get a 2nd one as a spare but since you aren't making one I bought the Google one ($43 later...) I would have preferred a Tronsmart one. I would have bought 2-3 if they were 15-20$

I have tried different car chargers, only this one make my nexus showing rapid charging on screen.

Could you check with an app like Ampere and compare numbers to the included wall charger? I'm guessing it's 2.4A and not the full 3A. Still faster than 2A at least but not the full potential.

Update 3: Last one for me, then it’s on to the engineers to try and give you even more clarity here. This morning, I started my phone at 40%, gave each charge up to 2% charge, grabbed a screenshot, then wound them back to 40% to do the next charger. Here are the results.
Idle phone: 118mA
Official LG USB Type-C charger: 2642mA
Aukey QC 2.0 PowerBank: 1241mA
Original Turbo Charger: 1314mA
Hikeren 5V/3A Thunder Charger: 1988mA
Samsung Fast Charger: 1961mA
Tronsmart QC 2.0 Car charger: 2511mA
I can't see 3A current in the original charger, but seems the tronsmart charger can give almost the same current as the original ones.

Interesting. The Tronsmart for them gave only 1.8A but could be because it was done at a higher battery percentage.
And I'm willing to bet that at very low battery (5-15%) the stock charger does 3A.

This nexus 5x car charger is the best on the market right now, one of the few quick chargers for this phone. I thinks its a MUST accessory to have for this phone

I just got my phone and I'm merely topping off the battery, but Ampere first gives an error in inability to gauge battery charge then asked to switch modes... then it only shows around 1A for the OEM charger. So not sure we are gonna get good reading from that app. I guess it's possible that the amps tapper off when the battery gets close to full, but there seems to be better testing involved here.

I believe I saw a video or read an article that explains that all fast charging tech basically works the same. The more empty the battery the greater the charge. As it gets full it'll be less. So topping off and only getting 1A could be right.

Full disclosure, @Tronsmart provided me a unit in exchange for an unbiased review. I've been using this charger for a few days on my Nexus 6 and have to say I'm very happy with it. I have a few Quick Charge 2.0 devices but also have a Nexus 5X and 6P on the way, so I wanted something that could handle any device. The Quick Charge port delivers, rapidly charging my Nexus 6 without any issue. The included 1m cable is very thick, as is the fixed Type C cable. My Nexus 5X showed up today, and officially it will not charge as quickly as the included 5V/3A charger the phones come with as this tops out at 5V/2.4A. That said, the fixed Type C cable registered as "rapidly charging" so while it may not be quite as fast as the 15W wall charger it's delivering enough power for the phone to indicate rapid charge. I'm very happy with this car charger since it offers both the old and new options until Type C becomes more ubiquitous.

For that price, you may as well try it. I will say though, the cable you use could make the difference and then there may be a handshake issue for it to get a full 3a charge. I think it is still very much unknown which type of car charger can provide the full 3a until they get tested. My guess is that you will need a true USB-C type that is also rated for at least 3a.

First review on Amazon is:
Cheap
Blew up (sparked, smoked), without even having anything plugged into it. Used it once.
There are a couple other reviews that say it doesn't charge at 3A.
I'd steer clear, but that's just me.

When I used the AmazonBasics Charger (2 USB ports, claiming up to 2A each) with an A to C cable my 5X says 'Charging Rapidly'. (Apologies for no links - new user account)
I haven't tried it with Ampere yet - I wasn't expecting it to say that at all, I was just looking to keep things topped off during my commute this morning.

Mailman just delivered the Tronsmart. Seems well built. It's odd that they chose to hardwire the cable to the charger rather than putting a female USB C port on the charger and then including a USB C double ended cable.

USB-C Charger replacement options?

I bought a Nexus 5x from the USA, but I live in the UK. I will therefore need to replace the wall charger when it arrives.
For my old Nexus 5 I use an iPad charger. This is fast, and adaptable, since I travel a lot, I can switch the figure of 8 input on the iPad charger to whatever country I am in, and it allows me to carry only one charger and switch between Nexus and iPad charging.
I realise that the old iPad charger will be quite slow to charge my new nexus 5x. I would like a replacement that is at least as dependable as my iPad charger, but with the usb-c standard. The perfect charger would have swappable plugs, like the iPad, with a usb-c AND standard usb 2/3 ports.
Any ideas?

Nobody found an alternative to this yet? Is it at least possible to buy a standard, genuine, nexus 5x charger with a uk plug?

Can't you just use an outlet adapter?

I ordered Googles charger, its compact and has a long/slim cable. Recommended!

Well, I had a Moto X 2014 with quick charger and I lost it, so my replacement was the 5X. In order to keep my previous chargers I bought a micro usb -> Usb C adapter. It's works pretty well for both charging and data transfer and isn't that expensive and you can still use your previous charger.

Remember that the OEM charger has an output of 3.0A so you might use a big charger, like the one of an IPAD or S6.

From what I understand though, the old USB formats are not capable of delivering 3.0A. It has to be USB-C. Adapters will turn your charge to 2.5A maximum.
I might be wrong, but have read a few things that suggest this. With my official Google charger I can charge my Nexus 5x fully in about 30 minutes.

I believe you are right, it might not charge at 3.0 A, but it did a good job with my 2.4A Aukey charger. I didn't measure the charging time, but it's aceptable. I can run some tests if your are still interest.

I eventually went for the official Google wired charger. My multi-function figure of 8 USB-c charger dreams will have to wait.

No. This will only charge at old USB ampage (and therefore speed).

I'm curious if anyone has tried these likely fake 5V/3A chargers from ebay?

I already own an Anker multi port charger, and have just bought the new one which has 1 USB C port and 4 standard USB ports with a total out put of 40W. The USB C port is rated at 3A and charges my 5x quickly. The other ports are 2.4A maximum and I have had no problems charging several devices simultaneously, Its a little smaller than a cigarette packet and has the figure 8 socket for change of power lead when travelling.

[Review] Choetech 10W Wireless charger, and 60W 6 Port charging hub review

Note: I will keep this OP updated if any issues arise, and add in more observations over time.
Choetech 60W 6 Port Quick Charge 2.0 Hub: This charger was given to me for free in exchange for a fair and honest review
Packaging:
When it comes to buying items the first impression is key, and that’s where the packaging comes into play. I don’t generally purchase products again if they seem to be poorly packaging since that indicates the initial level of quality I can expect from a company. This isn’t always the case, but more often than not it makes a difference in my opinion.
Both chargers arrived in a nice discrete brown box that contained a sleeve with all of the relevant information about the products inside. Each charger was packaged well with ample protector so neither one would float around in their box during shipping. The chargers themselves were in plastic sleeves to prevent any damage/scratches which seemed to work well.

Overview
Charging hubs are not always an item that many people would consider, but they provide a great alternative, and avoid clutter. These hubs (I have 2 on my desk right now) are particularly important if you have a situation where outlets are limited, or you want a simple way to charge things on your desk. Personally I don’t like having a bunch of things plugged into a powerstrip, so this is why I prefer using a multiport charging hub. The build quality of the Choetech is quite different from my Tronsmart 80W hub. It features a soft touch finish on ~90% of the charger, and the other 10% is a nice textured plastic. The charger itself is very compact for what it’s offering which is nice. I don’t need a charger with a huge footprint since I already have a lot of things floating around my desk (Surface dock, Surface Pro 4, school work, phones etc..) I also wanted to point out the length of the proprietary power cable. The cable is around 6[ft] which makes it ideal in my case because I can move it around just about anywhere on my desk. I couldn’t do this with the Tronsmart that I also have because the power cable was about half of that length.

Ports:
The 60W charger features 6 ports in total, 2 of which support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 standard. The other two ports which are referred to as “Smart Ports” will provide 5V/2.4A charging to supported devices. Since this is a 60W charger it can provide the rated power output for all 6 ports simultaneously which makes it great for when you need to charge a bunch of devices at once. I have 3 phones, an Android Wear watch, and 2 external batteries that I can plug into the hub if I really need to charge them at the same time. There is ample room between each port, so any if not all cables should work just fine. I tested around 15 that I have laying around without any issues.

I think Choetech made a good multiport hub in a small package that has a lot to offer. I didn’t experience any issues, and I enjoyed the soft touch finish on the charger. I see no reason to not recommend using this hub if it’s something that you need.
Choetech 3 Coil Fast Wireless Charger
Overview
I’ve owned a plethora of wireless chargers over the years, but I sold most of them with their accompanying phone. With wireless charging the design, and ease of placement is what will make or break a charger for me. The Choetech 10W Fast Wireless charger has some nice features that some of my old ones did not. (For reference I’ve owned qi chargers from TYLT, Aukey, Nokia, Anker, RavPower etc.) Choetech made the charger with a low profile, and elongated shape to help with the placement of your phone. On the underside of the charger there are 4 feet that help keep it from sliding around, unfortunately in my case it still moves around freely on both my night stand and desk. (YMMV on how well it stays in place) On the top there is a ‘wireless charging’ logo that is actually a very minimally raised rubber insert that keeps your phone from sliding off. I tried to move my slippery S7 Edge around on it, and it did move, but nowhere near as easily as it would without the added grip. There is an indicator light on the top toward the micro USB input that will glow a different color based on the charging speed and state (see the below color code table). I haven’t experienced any placement issues other than noticing how the S7 Edge acts when you move it off the pad and back on swiftly. It’s virtually impossible to not place the phone on the pad and not have it charge, so that’s great!

Ports:
The wireless charger only features 1 port, and that’s a micro USB input for the pad. It is oriented “Nexus Style” which means it’s upside down relative to how Samsung and other OEM’s have their port. I don’t mind it being this way, and frankly it doesn’t make a difference it was just an observation.

Note: You need a QC 2.0 charger to power this wireless charging pad in order to use the 10W fast charging.

Hi, does this actually work with the S7 (edge)? On every ad I've seen for it it says "This wireless charger is not compatible with S7 or S7 Edge."
Now I cant imagine why it would be incompatible but its something that they have put up and it would be great if you could clarify this for us.
I'd like to get one to fit into my ram mount to make a hoky wifi car mount but I'd like to know if it works with the S7E first.

yes it works just fine the S7E but you need a18W wall adapter nkt the stock Samsung one to use it since it requires a higher input current.

It will not work at all with Samsungs wall adapter included with the phone. You need a QC2.0 18W power supply to use the charger; I have seen it work with lower rates ones but just not Samsungs wall charger

That charger will work fine, it outputs DC 5V/2A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A which means 10W, 18W, 18W so the charger will work fine since it pull use the 9V/2A. I've tested mine with a car charger rated at the same outputs (Tronsmart dual port 36W QC 2.0) without any issues. I know another member on here is using this wireless charger in their car too, if I can find that OP I'll link it to you

I'm using the version I posted above with the Cheotech unit in my car and it works great. I can navigate with screen on and stream audio via Bluetooth, and the phone charge level will increase. Just excellent.

I was thinking about doing the same with mine seeing how I don't have anywhere else to put my other wireless chargers so if I do I'll post pictures.

My "plan" is to hot glue the charger to my X-grip ram mount and leave it plugged in all the time.

I would use an 2 part epoxy instead because hot glue isn't know for being rigid.
