[Review] amFilm Nexus 5X Glass Screen Protector - Nexus 5X Accessories

I got a free sample of the amFilm Glass Screen Protector.
The proximity sensor is properly cut out, and there are no issues with haloing or parts not adhering. Feels good, and hasn't cracked. I'll update in a few days if there are any changes, but I just put it on earlier today, and there's nothing negative to report. Installation was pretty simple.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Wayne

I'm supposedly suppose to receive one later too, did you get bubbles?
Can you take photos with it on your N5x

I just received and installed my review unit, and this was installed nice and easy, I've never used a tempered glass screen before, but these seem really nice and durable. The touch is perfect and the glass is really clear

ArmorSuit MilitaryShield - Google Nexus 7 Screen Protector Shield

I am just posting to warn everyone away from getting this accessory.
Mine arrived promptly from Amazon in perfect condition, but my N7 would not accept touch input after correct application. I am not a newb with wet application screen protectors, and the one that came with my Dell Streak 7's Otterbox worked immediately after application. The instructions suggested a 12-24 hour curing period for full effectiveness, which is outrageous. Nothing like that was immediately evident in their Amazon page.
For $14-$20, this protector should have made my N7 levitate. I think I'll stick with dry application protectors from now on. Never had this kind of trouble with 5-for-$10 protectors.

I bought one of these a few days after my tablet. after letting dry 24 hrs, it works perfectly with no significant change to the sensitivty
the only complaint I have is I have a yoomee case that has a few clips that curve over the lip of the display, one of the upper clips caused it to warp a little (just under the tab) but its not signifcantly noticeable.
I also got the armorsuit and couldn't be happier with it. I was even able to reapply it to my replacement nexus 7 by simply peeling it off and following the install instructions again. Perhaps you received a defective item?
Only issue I've noticed with it is that if you keep something sharp on it and apply force, it dents the screen protector a bit.

screen protector
Mine works fine, but I scratched/dented it a bit and it looks kind of ugly now.
I got mine and im happy with it, i couldnt touch it at first after application because it was still wet when everything dried up it was working fine. The screen protector is a little rubbery though and when my nephew was using it he left dents on the screen protector but it healed itself in a day so overall its not a bad product.
I got this and I really like it. Most people see my Nexus 7 and don't even realize there is a screen protector on it.
Let it dry LIKE THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY. You will be happy with it.
PS This was the easiest install of ANY screen protector that I ever installed. Less than 5 minutes from start to finish.
Mine works perfectly fine. I have used wrapsol, skinomi and zagg before on other devices and I can surely say that this one is as good as wrapsol and way better than skinomi and zagg.

Mine is great after letting it dry no complaints here need to read instructions and be patient
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
so do the dents heal themselves? looks like the screen protector gets dents real quick based on other users' experience?
Dents heal for me but haven't had any major ones or major scrathes got dents from my old case but new case doesn't dent it n old dents are gone
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Just as a general response, I did read the directions. Prior to application. If you read the Amazon page, you'll see others with my experience. In no place in the instructions does it indicate that you will lose all touch sensitivity immediately after application.
And in contrast to the responses here, others have the same complaint as mine, over at Amazon.
Additionally, if I am going to have lose my tablet for a day, I'd like to know about that before I decide to purchase the product, not find that information as a side note at the end of the instructions flyer as a "suggestion" or "recommendation."

I hear you. I noticed the lack of response immediately too. But when I left it alone, and the next day it was great. Also, on my old HTC Flyer, I used Zagg Invisible Shield (wet) and did have functionality right away. But once that dried, the Zagg made the screen look like it was orange peel textured.
IMHO this is a WAY better screen protector than Zagg, and I recommend this to anyone thinking of getting a screen protector for their N7 or any smart device.
I tried that MilitaryShield on my GT10.1 and it blew goats. Same problems as described here after careful application. Now I just use the el cheapo on ebay at 3 bucks a pop and they work fine for my nexus 7.
I bought three cheap dry protectors on Ebay for $6. The first one I tried to apply before I used my tablet, big surprise after taking it out of the package it was warped on the bottom so that it wouldn't lay flat. The second one I tried putting on a few minutes ago and it was just slightly too big, so much so, that none of the corners would fit on the screen at once.
So the cheap ones can be bad too.

Tech Armor HD Screen Protectors.

Hey everyone, was just curious to know if you have tried out the Tech Armor HD screen protectors for our Note 2's? I ordered some from amazon seeing as they were prime eligible and go for under $7.00 I thought I would give them a shot. I'm glad I did. Installation was very simple and covers the entire screen. No orange peel effect or any kind of screen distortion added benefit too is that it doesn't feel like it's there. Keep in mind that you also can barely tell that the screen protector is on there unless you look at where the proximity and ambient light sensors are. I will post pictures soon. One downside is that it does tend to smudge a little but cleaning with micro fiber cloth quickly eliminates that. Also if not aligned correctly the edges will lift due to the curved glass display. Just thought I would give people a heads up on a cheap screen protector that works great.

Is it dry or wet?

I posted some pictures of these in the screen protectors thread. The cut is too close to the edges. I put a TPU case on after getting one installed almost perfect and it peeled the screen protector right up.

Usually I use Phantom skin or skinomi but I got this as well cause it was prime eligible. It's a dry install and it is one of my favorite screen protectors. It is a truly a glass feel. I highly recommend it. I agree with the op that it does get smudges pretty easy. Does anyone know a screen protector just like this one but supposedly a better quality.
It's a dry install

Another thing I forgot to mention was that the spen doesn't scratch or leave indentations on the protector too.

I have mine installed for 3 days now and I can not tell you how impressed I am with tech Armor. Can imagine now there is a better one. Works amazing well with spend and looks like glass . Never going back to those wet installs again as this is clearer and no bubbles.
Tech armor is basically Ghost Armor. I've been using them since my Vibrant GS. Very good screen protectors. They have kiosks at my mall.

I have had a tech armor screen protector since day 1 on my phone and I have to say I am super impressed with it. There are no bubbles at all and the anti-glare and anti-fingerprint is great. Somebody mentioned smudges and it does leave some smudges, but they come right off if you wipe it. The only gripe I have with it was that the screen protector was starting to come up near the home button because the very bottom of it is very skinny, so it's hard to really get it perfect. I took small scissors and just cut that small part out and it has been great since. I've had it on for 2 months and still looks great!
I would definitely recommend tech armor to anyone looking for a screen protector because of the high quality and this is prime eligible on Amazon!
I've had JLG, SGP, and 2 different Glass SP's on both of my Note 2's and I got some cheap Tech Armor HD protectors to tide me by while I was waiting on a replacement MIME protector. Tossed them on both the Notes and gotta say I was very very impressed, especially for the price. I don't think it has quite as slick of a feel as the other "premium" protectors that are 3-4 times more expensive but if you are looking for an edge to edge screen protector, look no further! This thing covers serious real estate. Like previously mentioned, you must take care in initial alignment or it just won't work.
Tech Armor is the best dry skin protector. I have used Ismooth and I am very disappointed with the product. I like how tech Armor covers the whole front of the screen.
Can you guys send me a link, All I see is the screen protector is for a S3. Unless it fits for the note 2 too. Thanks in advance guys!

Screen Protectors

What are the best options for screen protectors right now? Has anyone tried the spigen ultra crystal for the g2, i have had good experiences with them in the past. I know that with my galaxy nexus the glass was curved so much that a normal screen protector couldn't fit across the entire screen and the wet apply screen protectors were a mess and looked horrible. Does the g2 have the same problem?
I was wondering the same thing. Anyone bought a screen protector they're happy with? Not a big fan of the wet application type
I used one of the wet application ones from Phantom Skinz (sp?) on my Nexus. It worked so well that I plan on ordering one for the G2.
I actually got the ones from T-Mobile and was quite surprised on how much I like them! They are a dry application, very easy to install, not sticky at all (feel very much like the natural surface before the screen protector), and what I like most...very, very clear and fingerprint and smudge resistant. The only downside is they are a little bit more than I usually spend on screen protectors, $17 for 2.

Wow that seems like a good sign, the best screen protector is one that you can't tell is on the phone. I'm curious, how much of the screen does it cover and do you have any pictures of it installed that you could share?
I got the only one that AT&T stocked. It's a glossy as opposed to an anti glare but the fit and finish is spot on and I can't even tell it's there. Very pleased.
/except for the glossy part
I picked up a few screen protectors from xtreemguard .com. pretty much the same thing as best skins ever. Used code fall80 for 80 percent off. Order was 3 bucks for shipping and two screen. Shipping was fast. Not amazing but definitely the best under $10.
I'm currently rocking the XOSkins wet application screen protector and like it so far.

I have the iloome flex tempered glass screen protector on order so I picked up the Supershieldz off ebay (6 for $5 shipped) as a hold over. They're dry application, fit well, and have decent clarity. Probably not terribly different from most plastic films, but man it hazes up from fingerprints like nothing else. I cleaned it off today with rubbing alcohol and it has already picked up some mild scratches. Guess you cant expect too much for less than a buck per screen protector.

I use the Spigen Ultra Crystal. My third phone whith them. Would not use any other. It actually seems just a tad small but I guess that leaves room for a case. It leaves about an 1/8 of an inch around the sides.
I use to pay the big money for ZAGG. When I bought my G2 (9/12) there wasn't anyone that had screen protectors, so I bought the 3 pack from VZW. I still have the first one on, and no issues. Paid like 10 bucks. It works fine for me.

I bought the overpriced crap from Verizon and they just peeled up with the gel case I bought from them too. Ordered the 80% off xtreme skins or whatever they're called and they're great. Fit nicely under the case. Only gripe I have is the screen isn't as slick as the ones from Verizon or the actual screen.
Well this time I just tried a bit different.... its not Zagg one...its not Spigen..but this time I tried Privacy at Fommy.....
heard a lot about it from one of my friend and after wearing it on my G2.. I can say that the thing it says..it delivers..now I can easily check out my official mails at crowded place and am not worried about the guys standing around me as its not visible to them..that is something I really like about it and moreover it is very finely gripped on the phone and does not even give the feel as If I have placed something on the screen.....I know its quite new one but I am liking this product...
Go with the iloome tempered glass protector I had one on my note 2 it works great and it curves to the edges

__[ REVIEW: GPEL 2nd-Generation Tempered Glass Screen Protector]__

A few days ago I received my 2nd-generation GPEL Tempered Glass Screen Protector (TGSP) for the Galaxy S7 Edge. I ordered mine in Black. Unlike the 1st-gen black TGSP which was actually dark blue in color, the 2nd-gen black TGSP is really black in color. If that discrepancy bothered anyone before, the revised and updated color should please you.
The GPEL TGSP was shipped to me inside the same packaging as the 1st-gen. That is, the TGSP was well-protected and not damaged at all.
This is what the exterior packaging looks like.
Once you take the TGSP out of the package, this is how it looks like, front and back.
The glue/adhesive setup on the back of the TGSP looks to be the same as the 1st-gen GPEL TGSP.
Installing the TGSP was simple and easy. Use the included alcohol wipe to clean the phone, dry it with the provided microfiber cloth, remove any dust particles with the dust sticker tapes, and carefully align then press the TGSP down on the phone. Afterwards, use your fingers and/or rubber squeegee tool to apply pressure to the TGSP to ensure adhesion.
The first thing I immediately noticed was how clear the TGSP glass was. Unlike the 1st-gen GPEL, which had this sparkly sheen all across the glass (especially noticeable on white backgrounds), this 2nd-gen GPEL does not have any sheen at all.
There is, however, some dots that show up. They are not, however, distracting because they become only visible under certain angles and under direct bright sunlight.
With no distracting sheen anymore and barely-visible dots, my experience of viewing content on my phone has improved very much compared to the 1st-gen GPEL TGSP. This is a definite and clear upgrade in quality.
Another quite visible upgrade is to the oleographic coating used on the 2nd-gen GPEL TGSP. The glass does a much, much better job at repelling finger grease & smudges. It is finally on par with traditional flat TGSP's.
As for the ability of the TGSP to adhere correctly to the phone, I've had no issues (I had no adhesion issues with the 1st-gen GPEL as well). The glue is strong and the TGSP stays on without creaking when used together with my thin-fit cases - OEM Samsung Leather case, Match2 clear TPU case, and the Tauri clear TPU case.
With other medium- to heavy-duty cases, the TGSP will most likely lift up or crack. But that's not a Con for this TGSP - that is just how it is for curved TGSP's in general.
And finally about sensitivity. The sensitivity is better for me than the 1st-gen GPEL. I use a Playstore keyboard app called MultiLing and on that keyboard I had difficulty registering touches on the 1, Q, and A buttons. Not so with this 2nd-gen GPEL. The TGSP feels to be the same thickness as the 1st-gen but somehow touch sensitivity got better.
My verdict? This is a GREAT TGSP from a great company with good customer service. I was already satisfied and content with the 1st-gen GPEL despite its shimmering glass but this 2nd-gen GPEL is even better in every way. I have no qualms recommending this TGSP to my fellow GS7 Edge owners. :good:

How long has it been on your device? The issues didn't crop up on mine til the second and third day. That's when the adhesive started failing and the popping and crackling sounds started. The second day is when the sensitivity issues cropped up. End of third day it came off and went in the trash. This is the 1st Gen I'm talking about. If you go more than a week with zero issues on 2nd Gen I might be interested.

I've had it installed since June 22nd Wednesday. So today is the third day. No issues whatsoever. Due to possible follow-up issues that might reveal itself later on, I waited before posting up this review. I'll update again in a week and on later dates.
My older 1st-gen GPEL TGSP was installed for more than 60 days with no adhesion issues.

B/c I got the 2nd-gen for free from GPEL. When I told GPEL about the shimmer on the 1st-gen GPEL, they offered a free warranty replacement. I waited until the 2nd-gen became available before claiming my replacement.

I received my ZeroLemon 8500mah battery case & it wasn't compatible with the TGSP. Just to make my phone fit, I had to cut the rubber case with an Exacto knife so it wouldn't lift the bottom part of the TGSP.
After I managed to make the phone go inside the case, my problems continued. The top-left part of the TGSP lifted up & I lost touch sensitivity on the right side of the TGSP.
Once I went back to using my Samsung leather case, I was still having touch issues. So I removed the TGSP, heated up the glue with a heat gun on low setting, and reapplied. Fortunately, everything is good again.

Thanks for the review. The main problem with my Gen 1 is how easily it attracts smudges which had to be frequently wiped off. Is Gen 2 more oleophobic? My Gen 2 has shipped but I am away at the moment so won't see it for two weeks.

Could you put the link in the description of where you bought it from and price? Otherwise, great review!
How can I tell if mine is 1st or 2nd Gen? I bought mine from the GPEL store last Friday but it has this nasty glittery effect on the screen that makes it unbearable to look at. Edge sensitivity is also worse then without it. I ended up taking it off after 5 or so hours.
I caved, and finally bought one for my phone. I installed it without any issues, but it bothers me. There is a rainbow effect when looking at my display despite my screen being perfectly clear upon installing it. I'm going to call/email GPEL because I was expecting it to actually be clear which is certainly is not. I like the fit, no real loss of sensitivity (maybe a very sight around at the edge), but overall aside from the ugly rainbowing its great. I'm using it with the Samsung OEM Leather case aswell
Haven't tried a tgsp on the s7 edge yet, does the fingerprint sensor still work? Is there a deep pit on the home button?

Just pulled the trigger. Hopefully get it sometime next week. I hate not having a glass screen protector, after having shattered the screen 2 days after getting the phone. Makes me nervous sometimes.
Got it yesterday and installed it right away. It works well, but I have a bit of an orange peal effect visually on black screens, and the rainbow pixelation effect on white screens in sunlight.
It almost doesnt fit with my Unicorn Beetle Rugged Holster Case. and it seems like the near the edges, sensitivity is off a little bit. I may keep it on long enough for a better one to come out, or for the price of the AmazingThing to drop. I just hate not having a screen protector on since I shattered the screen within a day of having the phone.

Require Simple Screen Protector - No Glass Screen Protector

Hi there!
I need simple plastic film, clear screen protector, similar to what is installed on new OnePlus 3 out of the box, but this one don't cover edges of the LED, leaving about 2mm exposed from both sides.
Kindly someone give me names or links of full screen protector which is not hard glass, but soft regular screen protector which cover complete screen
Or any other Phones screen protect which can cover OnePlus 3, may be of galaxy S7 Edge
Why i need simple screen protector:
- Its thinner
- Its not noticeable, you don't feel if its there
- Prevents scratches
- Don't make device thicker, by putting extra thick layer
- Can access home button/finger print reader easily, without digging your thumb in
Why i hate Glass Screen protectors
- Thicker, makes phone fatter
- Untidy, makes phone bulky
- buries home button further inside
- At times, i have seen they can damage the screen as well
I am using the IQ Shield and I love it. Fits great and was pretty easy to apply.

protector that comes preinstalled on OnePlus 3 seem to be of a very nice quality to me, issue is that, its short, i feel they could extend it little more to sides, just before it curves down, they made it short intentionally to make people buy there full screen or other temper glass screen protectors.
May be i should try to take screen protector of some other phone, like that of Samsung and try to cut it as per OP3.
May be i can extend it to black bars where the screen ends.
I decided to try the Orzly tempered glass. Normally I'm a huge fan of the Spigen Crystal and Ultra Crystal plastic ones - still almost no noticeable marking on the Crystal I have on my LG G4, and the Ultra Crystal on my wife's Nexus 5 literally saved us a screen replacement last winter. I thought the screen HAD broken, down to ordering a replacement to put in it ... but when I peeled the Spigen off, the screen was fine. They don't have one for the OP3 yet though. So this time I thought I'd try something different with the tempered glass. If I don't like it, I'll have to keep looking.
Interested in seeing if there are any good plastic screen protector recommendations though, in case I find that I'm not a fan of the glass ones.
Best non-glass screen protector.
BestSkinsEver Thank me later (or don't b*tch at me when you F up the wet install, ZAGG style)
I actually really like the original film protector. I still have mine on and I got the phone as soon as t was available and it still looks great.

I actually really like the original film protector. I still have mine on and I got the phone as soon as t was available and it still looks great.
Anyone know where I can get another? They don't seem to have them at the oneplus store.

Its of good quality, they could cover sides bit more, as curve starts from where black line starts, i guess the made it short for people to buy their accessories and remove it, probably.

Well I started the Orzly plastic film trend on Xda. Its the first thing I wanted to do after 4 failed tempered glass abd its still the best. Got mine at 499 of 5 pieces. The first one is still in use and I love it.

They look tempting, but i am not sure how they will even cover the curves, i heard they come off from edges, it would have been better if they had left the curves exposed, just cover the complete LED, just up to the point where LED starts.
Hopefully it will give surprising results.
