ZUK Z1 Gorilla Glass - Zuk Z1 General

What kind of screen protection does Z1 have? Some sources say there's gorilla glass. Some of them say it's just 1st generation Gorilla Glass while others it's Gorilla Glass 3...
Does anyone know exactly that specification?

Not sure but I can tell you that I've dropped my Z1 at least 6 times and not scratches or dents! So, whatever type gorilla screen they used is pretty good.

True, i think its cheaper glass because it scratches really easily. I use it for about 5 weeks now, with care, and have numerous noticable scratches. Much quicker than with my previous Iphone 5s.

Yeh, that's whait I thought... I'm going to buy tempered glass than. Thank you!

not too sure about the "cheaper" glass opinions of this phone, my screen feels pretty premium and durable, I haven't put a knife to it yet and I won't be doing that either.

Yes me too ^
2 weeks in full usage even without a case and i didn't have yet (thankfully and hope for always) any kind of scratches! Neither on body nor on screen!

I can only speak for my phone, purchased 2 days ago, but mine had a tempered glass protector already on the screen. You may check this on your phones at the front speaker.

Hi I wondered if it already had a protector on but didn't want to try and remove it. As you say you can see something around the speaker. Is this defo a tempered glass protector?

No there isn't any tempered glass applied. The ear speaker is just a little bit under the surface of the display

Okay, thank you for the explanation. Just ordered a tempered glass protector for mine.

Since smartphones came out I've bought a case and screen protector. Never had a scratch, or broken screen, touch wood

That is called the digitiser I'd imagine as it is bonded onto the screen it's self

Its True Guys Beast Is ON!!!!!!!!!
Zuk Z1 is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass :good: But not sure what type of glass it uses if you wanna refer go to this site
zukmobile cc

I guess it might be 1st or 2nd generation Gorilla Glass as they would've pointed out if it's something better (read: newer) like GG3 or GG4.

i used my old Samsung Galaxy S4 for 2 Years without screen protection and did not had any scratches at all. With the Zuk Z1 i had my first scratch on the display within a week. I should have bought a screen protection, my bad. however the built Glass in the Zuk1 is not as resistent as i suppose it to be.

Screen Protectors? Where?

The only place I can find that has screen protectors for the Note 2 now is at Clove. So I ordered one with my note 2 from them, the only problem is that its a MIRROR one and I don't really like it.
Anyone know where else we can get the screen protectors? It would be nice to put it on my note 2 when I get it straight away.
I kinda feel like we could kinda use note 1 screen protectors with a little surgery.
I have a few leftovers to tide me over while I wait for a glas.t for the note 2.

Yeah, hence the surgery.
Basically you'd have to cut the very top and bottom off a Note 1's screen protector, and you would have to leave the Note 2's speaker and button area exposed. The LCD would still be protected though.
Not ideal, but I think it should look okay, and tide me over while I wait for a protector brand I'm happy with.
- Frank
mate I was thinkng about a screen protector but then I thought "gorilla glass 2". it's suppose to be unscratchable. now I know how you feel, because I've ALWAYS put on a protector for the LCD. but after taking it off on the S3 for a day, I realised how nice it was to use without the protector. there is a big difference of feel with and without a protector on. now I'll never put one on. considering they have gorilla glass 3, 4, 5 and so forth coming up ;P
but if you wanted a protector anyway I was about to buy 1 from spigen SGP. they have them. very good quality. always to edges of phone and buttons, looks like you don't even have one on _b
Amazon also has the Spigen available

thanks..
Why would you use a screen protector on gorilla glass screen ? I have not scratched my old desires display in 2 years I have been using it. And the desire has gorilla glass, note has gorilla glass 2 and I suppose it should be even better and even more scratch resistant. Has Samsung used "softer" displays on other phones ?

which one is better? "Ultra Crystal" Or "Ultra Oleophobic"?
crystal is the clear transparent surface.
oleo is a matte finish. mainly for glare resistant and no smudges on the surface.
I would personally go crystal, keeps the clarity of your picture over matte.
end of day the phone has gorilla glass. I wouldn't get a screen protector at all.

Oleophobic ones are not really that good. Had it on my note 1. The finger print resistant only lasted a very short time. I'm now using the ultra optic only note 1. But haven't tried ultra crystal yet. If you want the finder print resistant...should go for ultra optic but it's a bit grainy. Oleophobic is not really worth it

Screen protectors

hi guys, what screen protectors do you use? i just bought the sgp ultra crystal is it any good?
I've always used Brando - but recently i got SafeScreen which is half the price - and i haven't noticed any differences between them. Never tried SGP though. For Xperia Z i'll probably use the one that Sony bundled with the phone - or whichever brand releases one for both front and back of the phone.
I was thinking this too - the Xperia Z, like other Xperias, ships with a pre-fitted screen protector. I'd like one for the back too though, to keep it looking pristine.

It has this pre-fitted protector on both front and back. There's additional screen protector bundled in the box so you can apply it on the screen to keep it double-protected, from shattering and scratches.

The one applied by Sony is supposed to protect your device from shattering if you happen to break the display. It holds pieces of broken glass togethes. But it is a plastic screen protector - so it will get scratched after a while, so you can either apply a second more scratch-resistant one ( recommended by Sony as it gives you both type of protection ) on top of it - or use the phone as is, and just remove the pre-fitted one should it get scratched badly and replace it with a new one.
I didn't know the phone came bundled with a screen protector, i've just ordered myself a cheapo hybrid hardcase from the Bay, comes with a screen protector as well, so i should be well covered in any eventuality.
I still have a pack of Crystalusion Liquid Glass protector that i haven't had the bottle to try out on my One X yet.

That was true for CES demo units - they printed Sony logo on the film and not on the glass. In retail units, Sony / Xperia logos are below the glass so removing the film will not take them away.

I pre-ordered from handtech.uk to New York ... well lets hoping it will have the protectors already on by Sony.
Safesearch is a great screen protector. It's not very sensitive nor lessens the sensitivity

Limited quality screen protectors...

Ok, I'm done with these dumb glass screen protectors. I've tried like 3 different brands and they all have problems. I currently have the pleson one, but it doesn't stick to the screen properly and degrades responsiveness. And does anybody notice how incredibly cheap branded accessories there are for this phone??? Lol. Anyway, I'm going back to my regular style of protectors....the glass ones are too thick and I don't like them. So my real question, has anybody tried the IQ shields?
OnePlus 3 Screen Protector, IQ Shield® Matte Full Coverage Anti-Glare Screen Protector for One Plus 3 Bubble-Free Film - with Lifetime Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GQWLLIU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_QFwKxb94W483A
yeah... avoid both pleson and yootech products i have used them both the 9h tempered glass which only adheres the top and bottom and their 3x pack of pet film... and they are badly designed... its so hard to apply the pet film... long story short avoid pleson and yootech i left reviews on the amazon site..
iq shield uses a solution to apply the screen protector just like armorsuits.. and i know armorsuits are good.. so its up to you, personally i dont like that kind of application since sometimes... they are not permanent .. if not applied well enough ..
I've got reviews of both the skinomi and iq shield ones on amazon, but ugh. You can't see crap on them and I went to the pleson/yootech full tempered.
The matte distorts all colors and you cannot read anything if apps have white backgrounds.
Good luck reading on this

I didn't buy the matte IQ shield. Instead, I opted for the clear one. And I am soooooo happy now! It's just like the old ZAGG protectors. Fits perfectly on the screen, and almost could adhere to the rounded curves. Overall, best protector. The glass ones can kiss my you know what. Lol.
I too am done with the glass I wish they worked but they simply dont. I have installed the pleson from Amazon:
OnePlus 3 Screen Protector [3D Full Coverage], PLESON® [3-PACK].
Which offers full coverage and doesn't feel sticky like a skin its more of a plastic finish and doesn't affect responsiveness.
Make sure you are in a dust free environment and take your time to align and them smooth out the bubbles. It went on perfectly with patience.

Can you post pictures of the borders, how big is the gap of the visible screen that isn't covered? Also exactly like the pre-installed one? Because the Orzly plastic protectors are slightly wider and only leave a smaller gap then the pre-installed one.
Also funny, the company is based in my hometown. Might as well stop by when I visit home next time lol.

The curve on Mi Note 2 is very large, but only on the sides, it's called 3D glass, IIRC.
Mi 5s/Plus just add slight curve to all sides, which often called 2.5D glass.
Or maybe they are simply not out yet, the mobile is only around 3 or 4 weeks on the market so far.

No tempered glass covers all screen if you have 2.5D display.

I know for a fact that the iPhone 6 has tempered glass protectors that cover the entire screen. I installed one for a friend and it looks indistinguishable from a screen without a cover (the parts of the protector that cover the bezels are already coloured in). Only problem is, since it makes the screen slightly thicker, some tight phone cases no longer fit.
This one for the Mi 5S looks just like the one I installed for my friend's iPhone 6. I have ordered it and will report back if it does indeed cover the whole screen. Otherwise, there is also this one which I will try if the first one doesn't fit well.

I received the first protector I mentioned but I still haven't received the phone yet :silly: Hopefully it will arrive in a week or so and then I can let you know for sure how it is. My initial impression is that it won't cover the whole screen, or at least, it will not curve over the 2.5D part because there is almost no curve on this protector. It certainly looks big enough to cover the entire screen judging by the thickness of the bezel area so I'm not sure how it's going to work. The curve is definitely a lot less than the protector I installed for my friend on his iPhone 6.
Anyway, I'll keep you posted. Good thing is, it was distributed by Amazon so I can definitely get a refund

Sorry for the late reply. I did finally receive the screen protectors. Long story short, neither of them cover the 2.5D portion of the screen unfortunately. I will say though that they probably cover closest to the edge than any of the other screen protectors I've seen. There is also a benefit to not covering the 2.5D portion. As I said earlier, I got a friend of mine a 2.5D tempered glass protector for his iPhone (you can see it here) and even though it covered the entire screen to the point that you wouldn't be able to tell that there is a screen protector on there, it made it almost impossible to put on a case. Every case he tried were really tight and ended up pinching the protector so that an air bubble would always form near the middle of the screen. It wasn't a problem with the installation because the bubble never appeared with the case off. This doesn't happen with the two protectors I bought for the Mi 5S. As you can see from the screenshot, the protector ends just before it makes contact with the case and it's the same with two other case designs that I've tried.
If you do plan on picking up one of these, I recommend the one from Ultimate Shield (ebay link, not amazon) because the Anzhao one was not very good quality. All the cutouts for the home button, earpiece, capacitive buttons etc. fitted perfectly but there were already some minor scratches and tiny dents when it arrived.
Lastly, I will say that I am starting to think that maybe a normal screen protector would be better for the Mi 5S. Because of the little dent for the home button, adding an extra layer of glass on top of the original screen makes it a little more difficult to reach the fingerprint sensor. Maybe a thinner plastic film would work better.

thanks for good review and _REAL_ photos of the case. I was trying to buy something decent on ebay and ended up sending back 3 different cases that looked not even close to what was on the original pictures.

Invisible shield zagg

Trying to find a screen protector that actually works I came across Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. This particular brand is flexible and covers the screen very well. More importantly on Amazon these are going for 2.19 or something like that because if you're buying open box items you're saving a ton of money and of course if you don't like the way it fits you are not out much money. To say the least after I botched the installation of the first one I ordered two more because I really think I'm onto something for the front. For the back it does not fit very well.

Remember look at the warehouse offers. The open box items are a steal

Is it properly fit to Mi Note 2 screen from edge to edge? No cutting at all?
What about sensors and front camera? Is it covers by the film or remain naiked?
Fits well top to bottom, covers edge to edge well, doesn't cover sensors. Align to sensors and home button for installation. SPRAY water mist on the back of the protector because you may need to slide it. You WILL need that water to squeeze the bubbles out, if not the bubbles WILL be trapped.
The cut on the corners is a couple of mm smaller where this protector will leave the screen uncovered, but those areas are neither touched nor essentially needed covered. Furthermore after installation even the lines are invisible.
I'd post a photo but I've sold the device.
Screen being curved there's not a lot of options, curved glass reduces sensitivity. I found this a good quality.

Hurray! The soft silicone film - probably the only acceptable decision for Mi Note 2. I wonder, why Zagg, Bronto, Spigen etc. don't make protective films for Mi Note 2?
I'll try to buy and use film for Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (G928F) as you describe.
Pls try the open box items first so you're not out much if you don't like the fit

Yes in my opinion it covered the edges of the screen very well. I don't have that device anymore though so I can't post any further pictures unfortunately.

My Note 2 is coming from Hong Kong.. I will use it first to get a grip if the screen is too fragile or not.. If I need some protector I will try it.. THANKS!
