[Q] Version Differences? - ZTE Axon Pro

What are the hardware differences between the Axon Lux, Axon Elite and Axon Pro? I know the normal Axon is weaker snaprdagon 801 stuff, but between these three, will roms be interflashable once they come out? If I flash an Axon Elite rom on my Axon Pro, will I brick it or will I just be installing drivers for hardware I don't have and it still runs fine?
Secondarily, I'll be joining the Axon faithful this coming Tuesday with an Axon Pro as stated, and I'll be more than willing to test recoveries and ROMs once more of those start popping up.

I own a Lux and I was able to flash it to the Elite. It seems to work fine though I have not used a sim in to call anybody but I was able to get HSPA on it. The Elite and Lux seem to use the same Mi-Favored theme. I am located in the USA so I would prefer the Pro rom which seems to be more of a stock build.

Ok, so they share the vast majority of their hardware and interflashing will be feasible? Sure seems like it's working fine for you. What is the difference hardware wise between Lux and Elite?

128GB of storage vs 32GB
4GB of ram vs 3GB
2K screen vs 1080p
Those come off the top of my head. The Lux has the eye scanner and voice security. Not sure if the Elite has those features

If you can flash Elite roms on your Lux and everything is fine, it follows that I should be able to flash Elite roms on my Pro when it comes, yeah? It seems the Elite owner base is far more active here than the Pro owner base, sadly.

Update I have appeared to lost quick charge support. Whenever I would put in the included charger it would say quick charging. When I would use another charger it would say something about this unit isn't using quick charge. Now it just say charging regardless of the charger.

Xiaomi Mi Note Pro. Is there a new handset due?

Hi there,
The Xiaomi Mi Note Pro has been out for a year now. Has anyone any info on an upgraded or new version?
I'm looking for a 5.7 device and really like this, but (knowing my luck), I'll order and the next week Xiaomi will release info on a new model !
Thanks
do you want my opinion wait and see for one plus 3
I think asus zenfone 3 deluxe must be the mobile what you want, im waiting for it and some revew of zf 3 deluxe, sd820, 5.7" FHD 6RAM... sound so great
I would personally go with nexus 6p over the current mi note pro. As a previous amoled user, I find it the screen to be pretty dim on my MNP.
Unless you are happy with running miui, I would stay clear from this. Another thing, I should add, phone definitely heats up when running asop and early miui roms. I do not care what other user say but having the phone on charge and trying to talk to someone whilst putting the phone next to your years gets extremely hot and uncomfortable.
I would wait for one plus or even the nexus 6
PS: I'm running mokee rom.

There is a rumor that Mi Note 2 will be released mid-July, together with the Xiaomi laptop. The latest news on it: http://mobile.it168.com/a2016/0530/2672/000002672797.shtml
The specs are supposedly: SD823 (MSM8996 Pro), 4/6 GB RAM, 32-256 GB ROM, Sony IMX378 sensor, 12 Mpx camera with laser autofocus, screen resolution and size same as the predecessor, iris recognition. Pricing is supposed to start at 3299 CNY for the cheapest version.
Mi Note Pro still a very good phone except perhaps for camera

I also have both, Mi Note Pro and Nexus 6p. Nexus 6p is a little bit faster (probably because of stock android) and has a better camera, but overall i still prefer the Mi Note pro. The 6p is thicker, heavier and bulkier and the sound quality on it (which is very important to me) is complete ****, while on the Note pro the sound is absolutely brilliant (over headphones of course, speakers are better on 6p). Screen is a little brighter on the 6p, but they`re both too dark in sunny weather for me. I also love MIUI, did even install a MIUI launcher on my 6p . I think it comes down to preferences. Both are great devices, but there`s one major downside to the Note Pro, which is the battery life.

An event is planned this month... there are rumors of a new flagship.
mipro is a good phone except the software sucks (both miui and unoficial roms). for exemple semi-official (i believe he is a miui developper) ivan aosp rom 6.0.1 is using april security patchs lol and no updates... and others roms are worst and bugged. yea i would take the 6p only because of the software part, i have bought 3 phones from xiaomi and it's the LAST TIME.

CN model worth it in USA? Anything I ought to know before purchase?

Looking to pick up a CN 128gb variant. Is the Mi 8 worth it for sub $400? I'm able to flash global ROM ton the CN variant right?
https://www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Mi-8-6-21-Inch-6GB-128GB-Smartphone-Blue-405269.html
I use T-mobile and just want to make sure I'm not missing purchasing the above. Anything I should be aware of with the Mi 8 using it outside of CN or other markets? (I've owned the Mix, Mi 5 and redmi note 4, so not my first xiaomi rodeo) .
I was initially torn between the Mix 2s and Mi 8, but remembered how I hated the FFC on the Mix and it at the bottom. Video chatting wasnt possible as I'd be upside down (duo. has this been fixed?). Mix 2s is about $450 for equivalent 128gb.

Using a CN version with global rom here in Canada. Only real drawback is no Google Pay. Other thing is if it comes unlocked by seller you won't be able to relock BL without bricking it. But if you plan on locking yourself, be ready for the 15-30 day wait period.

Google pay is not working as safetynet check has failed. You can make safetynet pass by flashing Magisk which will root systemlessly and hide from safetynet. Am on the latest stable global rom with magisk 17.2 and google pay is working great

Usually there are differences between bands, but as far as I have read, they both seem to support the same bands and have pretty much the same features. But as mentioned, you will have issues with Google Play, and a large majority of threads have people trying to go from the Chinese rom to the Global rom. As for your chosen vendor, I'm not a fan of any of those Chinese vendors, especially when many of them are known to install what is referred to as "vendor roms" (this is typically a modified stock MIUI Chinese ROM with Google Play installed and a damaged version number which stops MIUI from updating, thus stopping Google Play from being deleted by an update). These vendors have been known for installing malware on the phones as it has been discovered before. If you've purchased from them and are happy with them, by all means do, but there is one reputable mega store in the US that is selling these devices, but 64GB global models only, and they're not as "cheap" as the ones you're looking at. If you are curious:

So if said device comes with a vendor ROM, would it still be possible to flash CN ROM onto it or unlock the bootloader and flash global ROM? Or does the vendor ROM cause issues with all that?
I dont have an issue with flashing magisk, I usually do on all devices I unlock, nor do i worry about TWRP. May even flash an AOSP Pie rom.
My main concern is getting off the vendor rom if it comes with it. I know in the past you could (I think)
I appreciate everyone's input and feedback. Does anyone have a recommended aliexpress vendor to buy from? I see popular, high rated ones with lots of sales but they too are CN model with global ROM flashed..

Actually now that you mention it, one of the main reasons Xiaomi made it so hard to unlock the bootloader was to eliminate third party reseller issues, specifically the vendor rom issue. Now that anti-rollback has also been implemented, I believe that vendor rom issues are no more.
I don't know much about AliExpress, but I do know that it is more trusted than say GearBest and AliBaba. I skimmed through their site, perhaps it is best to buy from the ones with highest orders and good reviews? Ironically, I came across their site for the first time in a quite a while today when I Googled "Mi 8 camera glass protector". They actually have tempered glass for the camera, so I'll probably have no choice but to give them a try.
Anyhow, if you're going to install a custom rom, vendor rom doesn't matter since you'll be unlocking the bootloader anyways.
Getting back to your original question, $400 doesn't seem like a major deal, seeing that AliExpress has the global 8GB+256GB model for $40 more.
The Mi 8 isn't without it's share of camera issues. The video recording on the Mi Mix 2S looks and sounds much better than on the Mi 8. But they both have their share of pros and cons, with the Mi 8 still being the winner of both (depending on your preference). The Mi 8 has a much better looking display (Samsung's Super AMOLED vs JDI's IPS LCD) although as you may know OLED wears off if if not properly taken care of. The Mi 8 has a much higher max brightness too, and the battery life is said to be much better (mine averages at over 6 hours with the brightness at half with heavy web browsing of 3+ hours), but the notchless design of the Mi Mix 2S looks MUCH better. The notch isn't an issue for the most part.
Lastly, I haven't MetroPCS (excuse me, Metro by T-Mobile now ), basically the same thing as T-Mobile. You'll be happy to know that this phone fully supports LTE, 4G (HSPA+) and so on, even VoLTE (make sure you set your region to Hong Kong or India for that to work)!

Should i switch to Nokia 7 Plus?

I have a 4/64GB Xiaomi Mi A2, bought it the exact same month it was release so I think I have one of the first units.
With that being said, I have noticed some backlight bleeding with this device over the course of 5 months, I'm also affected by the eMMC "bug".
And since Xiaomi keeps screwing up more and more within each newest (and late) monthly system update, I keep noticing this phone's counterpart, Nokia 7 Plus, isn't suffering from those issues.
So I have the opportunity to return this device back to Amazon and getting my full money back, so I figured I'd pick up either the 128GB version of Xiaomi Mi A2 or a Nokia 7 Plus of 64GB as well.
I need an opinion on this.

This will definitely be a wise thing to do,
Nokia 7 plus excels in every department (aside from Camera and day to day snappiness) , You will really enjoy having a more bug free experience
I've used a Nokia before and I wouldn't go back to another Nokia device although they're well built. One thing that I've personally noticed and others have reported with their Nokia devices too is that with every android upgrade the overall system performance degrades. On top of that, there is no official bootloader unlock method for majority of Nokia devices including Nokia 7 plus and no much third-party development.
It's a typical 'the grass is greener on the other side' effect. The Nokia 7 plus has its own set of android pie issues, just check its forum.. Nokia devices generally have horrible ram management even with greater ram capacities.
I personally love my Mi A2 and would never go back to a Nokia even if I want to change my device. Maybe try and get your Mi A2 replaced to get the emmc bug fixed? ?* I personally don't have the bug so my experience with this device is probably different from yours.
Quick look on the Nokias xda page reveals it has it's own bugs and if you are into custom roms and stuff it's lacking even more in development. Couple of my friends have 7 plus and my A2 is outperforming them in every category altough it's not fair comparison since I haven't been on stock rom in months. In my opinion a2 is better phone and I never experienced any bug aside that my mmc is also one of those ****ty micron ones, but it doesn't have any impact at all in day to day use. I think that bug is just exaggerated by bunch of benchmarkwankers.
In the end it all comes down to personal preference. But if I were you I would definately go for a change just for the fun of it.
Get the 128gb version. The Samsung flash memory doesn't suffer from the read write bug and if you can get it for like under 200USD (I got mine on sale for 190) then it's the best bargain ever....
Well of course it comes with bugs but still a bargain though lol
wait for the pixel lite
I would never buy a completely locked Android phone, since software support sucks on all of them.
If I had to buy a locked phone, it would be an iPhone
Amazon has the 128GB but not for that price, although it seems the grass is greener on the other side, Nokia 7 Plus has a few features I wish Mi A2 had, like micro SD slot and NFC respectively

I have to agree with you on the sd card and nfc part. I miss those features too.
You don't have to get the 128gb version to fix the emmc bug. I have 32gb version (I bought it last month so it's probably the newer batch with the fixed emmc). Just try and send it in for warranty.
But if you want another device, I would suggest the redmi note 7 - another device by Xiaomi (now redmi is a brand of its own). It doesn't run stock android though and instead runs miui 10 and has all of the features the mi a2 doesn't.
If you're looking for budget stock android, then the Nokia phones are probably your only other best option. Keeping in mind the bootloader unlock is basically non existent.
Some other devices I came across were motorola one power and asus zenfone Max pro M1. Hop onto their respective forums here on XDA and see how active the development for them is.
If you're someone who upgrades phones every year or two and don't mess around with the phone, then you don't have to bother with bootloader unlocking and modding. In that case, the Nokia 7 plus would be a good buy.

That's the thing, my current Mi A2 is bootloader unlocked and using Pixel Experience due to Xiaomi's incompetence with updates.
I figure the 128GB version has the eMMC bug but just in case if I buy the same exact model, will you think it's a newer batch? There's no way to check either.
Alright, I've owned both the Mi A2 and the Nokia 7 Plus so I think I can give you a better breakdown. Both phones are good and both phones are solid. It really depends on what you prioritize more.
Mi A2:
Thinner and sleeker
Better camera and video
Lighter
More RAM and Memory variant
Has more custom development support
Nokia 7 Plus:
Better battery
Feels premium
Nice unique back texture
Heavier
But the Nokia 8.1 just came out, maybe you should check that out too?
Nokia 7 Plus Pros:
-Great Battery
-Good Cameras, not the best but good in proper lighting
-Great Build
-Cam2Api enabled by default
Cons:
i. No bug fixes since first Pie release, they only send patches
ii. Low light cam bad
iii. Late updates i.e blot on the name of Android enterprise recommend
iv. Software not optimized properly, lags, freezing, etc
v. Can't unlock bootloader
I have both MiA2 and N7P, there is not much difference except better battery in N7P, but Mia2's battery improved after hard reset from recovery and following proper charge cycle.

Help I'm a noob with a question about the K20 Pro running Android. UK - Vodaphone

Hi guys,
So this phone seems amazing for the price and specs, but obviously, it doesn't run android.
Now my question is, I currently have a S7 Edge running the custom ROM (superman rom) and I've done a few custom ROMs so think I'd be confident if there was a guide to also do this to the K20 pro to make it the perfect phone.
My question is:
1. Do they make a guide to flash stock android or some form of android on this phone?
2. does the phone work in the UK on Vodaphone network?
3. is there another phone I should be looking at? the Oneplus 6t doesn't seem much of an upgrade for the money from the S7 Edge I've had for the last 3 years :\
thanks!

It is Android, just not as you know it.
At the moment the phone hasn't been released globally, so there's very little custom ROM development yet. It'll be released in India next week, but globally in a could of months, maybe. So it'll be a while yet before there's some progress with other ROMs. GSI ROMs work OK for the most part, and Phhuson's AOSP GSI will, obviously give you the purest Android. Though there are still a few issues with them, which for some, myself included, can be lived with, whilst others they will be deal breakers. There are guides for flashing ROMs on this phone. Have a look in the K20 Pro threads here.
The phone will work OK, for the most part in the UK. It lacks band 20. So EE will give the best coverage and O2 the worst. It 'should' be OK on Vodafone and Three with maybe the occasional patch that still relies on band 20 for compete coverage. EE would give you compete coverage and O2 probably wouldn't work outside of major towns and cities.
There's the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, though the Pro does have a large jump in price. Close to stock Android out of the box and OnePlus devices have the biggest custom ROM scene.
There's the Mi 9, which has a global version and some movement starting to happen on the custom ROMs.
Or there's the Asus ZenFone 6, which comes with a fairly stock android out of the box. Asus have tentatively reached out to the developer community and provided a small number of xda devs with a free phone, so there should be more development than you'd normally see on an Asus phone.

Yes. Any flagship phone with a QHD display will be marketed as a premium flagship and come with a premium price, look at the prices of the S10, the OP 7 Pro and the new Xperia phones. If you want a cheaper phone with QHD, then it will be a mid range SoC.
already have S8 Plus, running it as FHD+ to save the battery and can't feel or see the difference
I guess FHD+ is enough and battery friendly

If I were you right now with a 3 year old phone like you have there would be only one choice and that's the OnePlus 7 pro.definetly worth the few hundred extra for what your getting. Oxygen OS is hands down best software with Best QHD display you can get,if you dont mind full HD go with the normal 7 at a good price.
The redmi k20 pro will work fine but annoying Chinese software, maybe wait till September/October for a Mi 9T pro or November for a OnePlus 7T with possible standard version with a design similar to the k20.
Look at Xiaomi.eu rom for k20 pro if your going with that. It takes away all the bloat of the Chinese version with weekly updates based on Chinese official

Question Vivo X Fold vs Xiaomi Mix Fold 2

Hey guys,
It appears that Vivo and SamEsung have a new threat on the horizon... The Xiomi Mix Fold 2!
Thinner, ligher, having better spec than the X fold, almost same size screens as the X Fold...
And let's face it, Xiaomi has a better software than Vivo plus this will be their second gen fold and they have some feedback by now... The cameras are quite similar too. The price also. I might switch... Just for the experience...
Link
Any thoughts?
I wouldn't necessarily say the software is better yet. I will say it could be more flexible for rooting and other things but better is kind of subjective. That said I'm curious to see vivo implement android 12 L. Honestly I'm a bit concerned about their updates in relation to adoption of new os updates like android 12L and android 13
Vivo will be releasing a refresh of the X Fold called the X Fold S. Seems to be exactly the same but with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen1... They might switch their interest to it after release so I'm not sure how things will unfold.
Xiaomi has the plus of having official bootloader unlock options and the Xiaomi EU custom roms that support even China only devices. Another thing is that Xiaomi has a lot bigger user base and more development...
Don't know how you can say Mix Fold 2 is better than X Fold?
Beside it very thin and of course 8+ gen 1
No flex mode
No wireless charge and reverse wireless charge
Smaller battery
No inner screen selfie camera
No Under Screen Fingerprint Sensor

The last two are actually plusses for me...
Flex mode? There is no flex mode on the X Fold. Only the Samsung have this.
Wireless charging is the biggest evil ever conceived... Slow, heating up the entire device...
Smaller battery? To my knowledge both have 4500mAh battery packs.
Anyway... Different people different needs... I like my X fold but xiaomi is xiaomi...

Ok so there is a flex mode that is only supported by the vivo video player and netflix... Wow... This is why i have never seen it...
And the battery is 4600mAh on the vivo! A whole 100mAh more. That is almost 10 minutes more battery life
But yeah OK, it has those. We don't know what software will the Xiaomi have exactly so it might or might not have a flex mode... (Quite usesless for me personally but other people use it. I had Galaxy Fold 2 at one pointand did not use it there too)
Once again different people different use cases ...
With root and bootloader unlock I am extremely happy with the x fold. I can’t see myself jumping ship unless xiaomi / vivo does something special. Honestly I’m happy. Having said that xiaomi is a bit more developer friendly in some circumstances (not all). I guess it is try before you buy.
I have ordered the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and will update the thread when it arrives. It has an unlockable bootloader which will make rooting with Magisk straight forward, but be aware that it runs on MIUI 13.1 Fold firmware which is based on Android 12, not 12L. Xiaomi is working directly with app developers to create foldable tweaks. Xiaomi EU has confirmed they will not undertake a custom ROM for this device, as the CN firmware is unique to this single device and Xiaomi EU will not do one off projects. Also the good old Xiaomi dialing code that enables VoLTE on devices not supported by carrier SIM settings does not work on MIUI 13.1 firmware. I'm hoping that a Magisk module or editing the build.prop will solve that problem for me, as my carrier (Rogers Canada) won't support VoLTE for the device and thus when voice calls drop to 3G when travelling in the US I wouldn't be able to place phone calls.

Can't agree more.
I too like how I have configured everything on my X Fold, especially with the launcher I use, but the Mix Fold 2 has some definite pluses too. I'll probably wait for a while to see how things go and some reviews and then decide...

I will be eagerly waiting for your report on the device when you receive it.
Even if you post it in another thread, please drop a link here so we can see it.
Volte works here in the UK for the Vivo X Fold (I think... at least during a call I stay on 4G/5G, also have the HD Call icon) (WiFi call works also).

This is false info, I confirmed it's working on Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 (MIUI 13.1).
Xiaomi MIX Fold 2's pros compared to vivo X Fold:
Lightweight and thin, I even feel it's lighter than Xiaomi 12S Ultra
High performance, it was avg. 59.9fps with Genshin highest quality
No punch hole
Creases are even less noticeable
VoLTE is enabled by default and force-enable command works
Touch latency of MIX Fold 2's inner screen is far better than vivo (and even normal flagships), it's 37.6ms where vivo was 56.7ms

Here's my benchmark results for each SoC and device. List of Benchmark Results AnTuTu benchmark is a popular Android benchmark app, but often falls victim

Cons:
No flex mode, cannot be fixed at any angle
vivo's camera is better especially at night
Wattage performance is a little poor in performance mode, maybe it's better on balanced mode
Easily heated, easily cooled
No punch hole camera, but illuminance sensor is visible in light reflection

I created a Magisk module that solves the problem of not being able to use Android Auto with MIUI Chinese ROMs, etc. Need Android Auto app in /system

Yes, bootloader unlocking needs 168 hours to approval, but Xiaomi provides fastboot images so rooting is really easy.
You can even receive OTA after rooting.

Ha that is easy!
The x fold is still rooted but the process took a lot. I wish it was more like xiaomi but I also wish more developers had this device for rom porting and the like

So after looking at the Mix Fold 2, what do you think is the overall better device?
Which one would you prefer to use on a daily basis?
Also, how is the MIUI Fold interface compared to the very Chinese one of Vivo's Ocean OS?
will u check if mix fold 2 have call recording in call setting ?
