Change vendor/country info? - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hi all, i have a P9 L19 C185 vendor/country info middle east/africa and want to change to EU C432. Since there is no stock firmware out for L19 EU version i want to ask if it is possible to change the region if i take it from the L09 version and flash the vendor.img file or root the phone and change the oem file?

Change country code with ios Apple
Hi There,
I read several posts. I just bought a chinese version Huawei P9
Manufacture info: EVA-TL00VN2
Bootloader Version:: EVA-C00B198_Fastboot
CP Version: 21.210.03.01.031 (balong)
), but live in The Netherlands and require English. At present the "Google" app is not working properly. It sincs Calandar and Mail, but it refuses to sync contacts.
I am totally new on software changes etc. I try to understand, but need step-for-step instructions.
I also believe that the Chinese google apk restricts the phone doing certain things due to Chinese laws. (is this a realistic assumption).
I tried downloading SRK-file from other thread, but this is software for Windows and I have a Mac.
Is there a SRK-program (or similar) to operate from IOS.
Please help.
P.s.: Is country code is not an issue to my problem according to you, please advise.
I have restored factory settings several times and started over with installation.
I have checked all possible boxes in Phone and on Google account to allow sites / software to be installed from non-verified partners.
I have been able to download European Google Playstore and all related apps....however...contacts do not sync.
Even though I have changed languages in several locations on phone to English, Chinese signs keep popping up (i.e. homescreen). Rest is English.
Does anyone no the "Verification Key" for the special code under "Veneer Code" (youtube.com/watch?v=oipKvS_n--A&index=47&list=PLeiJwJY5dlmjhw2MEVYMsDvuiuIlphUv1[/url])
Thanks for your cooperation.

Very very noob question...

Hey guys
Just one, very noob question.. I'm new in Huawei and got stuck on B170 firmware, when B180 update is currently available.
I'd like to update it via this programm: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/huawei-p9-p9-plus-firmware-updater-t3435873
And... I don't know what is what :E
So... my compilation number is EVA-L09C432B170 and now:
EVA-L09 is a hardware number like D6503?
C432 is customization like CE1 in Sony?
B170 is firmware version like 23.1.A.1.28?
Am I right? If so, do I have to choose in this program EVA-L09 C432 B180?

Download the B180 update put the UPDATE.APP on the internal storage in the dload folder turn off phone and hold the update button combination this is the easiest way!
EVA-L09 = Model number
C432 = Country (custom package code)
B180 = Firmware version
So basicly yes your right!

No if you have the EVA-L09 C432 model download that update file if you have another model number download that update file.
Volume Up + Volume Down and Power Button together to get in upgrade mode.
Hello fellow P9 owners, I do have a EVA-L19-C185, may I use another customisation firmware? Or I MUST use one with EXACT "L19" an "C185" codes?
Thank you very much!

Just for the record, the tool you mentioned is used in conjunction with HiSuite. Basically it forces HiSuite to update your phone even if there wasn't any update available for your phone (Firmware gets downloaded from different servers as stated in the thread so as usual there is some risk involved I guess).
You connect the P9 to your PC and open up HiSuite, then you open the updater tool and select your firmware. In the HiSuite settings you have to change to proxy settings to those given by the updater tool. And finally you just use the HiSuite system update button. Then it will go and download and install the firmware you've selected in the update tool.
Didn't even erase my data when I upgraded from B166 to 180 this way. Just had to flash custom recovery/root/xposed again and I was good to go.

Official OTA firmwares for VTR-L09 for download

Hi all, i found all newest firmwares on: http://hwmt.ru/oth/HWFF/info/view.php?find_model=VTR-L09
Be carefull!
Because now iam stuck with only working fastboot and recovery. For my model (i only know what i own VTR-L09 device, but nothing more about operator, or brand) none of these FW can not be installed through "dload" folder from sdcard and iam bricked my phone trying to install wrong files using Fastboot.
And if somebody know and can tell how can write different brand, or operator firmware to phone i would be very grateful.

Maybe someone know how to restore P10 to working stage when only works Fastboot and Recovery, but nothing of these methods not working:
1. Restore from eRecovery, because no firmware list for device not found.
2. Restore from HiSuite because at the moment this model does not supported.
3. Dload updates from SD/OTG because of EMUI 5.1 security rules.

I try this FW "VTR-L09C432B113_v78079_f1", but same result "Software install failed!" on 5%.
You may understand firmware code structure? Is Cxxx number show brand/operator, or Bxxx number? Can You explain to me firmware code structure?
For example this firmware "VTR-L09C432B113", has 3 parts in name..

OTA can be with two different types Full or Update. For full OTA images is it impossible to extract Update.app file to SD card or OTG "dload" folder and install it? Like it done in this post http://rootmygalaxy.net/how-to-manually-install-ota-updates-on-huawei-devices/?

No u cant, u can extract it but it will fail on update. U must have a FULL firmware to do it, and it has to be signed by Huawei before u can update. The only solution is a paid solution that i sent to u on PM.

Hey,
I have found the full images for European Model on a page (sorry, can't share the link due to forum restrictions just yet. I googled for
Code:
"vtr-l09C432" full
and picked the russian page from the results.)
I am currently downloading VTR-L09C432B123 OTA FULL, because I had somehow lost my camera app, and will try to reflash it using the dload method.
The page downloads the update from the official huawei update mirrors, so I feel much more comfortable with this approach than with the paid options.
Update currently failing as my only micro SD card is formatted FAT32, and the update.app file is 4GB

Two quotes, two anwsers:
Yes and no.
I have now enabled dual sim on my VTR-L09C432 - I can make a pic of my package if you don't believe
But I can use it only as Dual Sim Standby. That means, I have both sims active and can make calls with both sims. Internet is working with only one sim which I can choose from settings.
I used it the last 3 days and it worked good. I have my private sim with internet enabled in slot 1 and my sim for work, which is only for calls, in slot 2.
I can make calls using both sims, but when I'm in a call and someone tries to call me on my other sim, the provider tells him, I'm currently not available.
The only thing I can't do is using internet from SIM1 while calling with SIM2.
But this is a thing, I can, personally, live with.
Now I'm interested to know, how the L29 naturally works. Are there two IMEIs?
EDIT:
Screenshot of Dual Sim settings, screenshot of call protocoll, photo of package with phone.
And yes, where I live is nearly no signal - thanks Vodafone! It's a big city in Germany an there's no signal...

How to find original build number?

Hello.
I am new to everything related to Huawei and I have a small doubt please.
I have a Huawei P9 Lite 2017 PRA-LX1 (exactly the same phone and specs as P8 Lite 2017; just a different name used by Huawei for marketing and regional purposes).
I have recently updated the build number through the inbuilt Huawei system update to version B162.
Please note that this was only a 400MB update with very minor changes and it was not a full ROM installation. Please see attached screenshot.
I am going to unlock the bootloader, TWRP and root very soon. I read that on the forum that sometimes people have to flash the original version of the build number when their phone gets soft or hard bricked in order to recover their phone.
I wanted to download the original build number as safety in case something goes wrong.
I can't remember the build number I had previously to B162.
1. How would I find the original build number I was on when I bought the phone? Only through a factory reset?
2. Is it really necessary the original build number to recover my phone (if needed one day) or another build would work?
Sorry but I find this Huawei updating method rather complicated or confusing.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Factory reset don't work because it will same build that you on now. Perhaps if you install firmware finder you can see previous builds

Thank you for the answer.
I do have Firmware Finder installed but as I mentioned I did not memorise the previous build number so I would not know which one to look for.
I suppose that if I search for build number B162 (my current updated version) it would work in case I need to flash the original version if any problems arise.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Also in relation to my question #2 any idea please?
Thank you so much.

I have honor 4x(different phone, but this part of the phones might be same).
I think FULL firmwares from firmware finder can be flashed in TWRP and in that case you'll only need to worry about getting the firmware which has the same specs as your phone.
TWRP dosen't do any version checking so you don't need to find exactly correct version.
I don't know will this work, but if you get stuck it's good to know.

Yes it is good to know I will be able to flash any version as long as it is for PRA-LX1.
With some other phone brands I had in the past downgrading was out of the question (LG G3 and G4 for example).
Not sure about Huawei in relation to downgrading.
My opinion is that this should be all standardised all across Android anyway and not all different between phone manufacturers.
Thanks for your reply.

You MAY find your original build number according to your region:
https://mobiletech360.co/huawei-p8-lite-2017-stock-firmwarerom-android-7-nougat-pra-lx1/
But even if you do i doubt that you can revert it back, I had a PRA-LX1C464 which is the region code for Turkey, I wanted to update it through Firmware Finder and successfully did. But it changed my phone' build number to PRA-LX1C432, and I can't revert it back to C464. My phone is single SIM, but the firmware I'm using is dual SIM (wtf huawei? ) . So far so good though, phone works fine.

You need to rebrand your phone aka flash another oeminfo that is related to your device. This will lock your bootloader, so make sure you are on stock EMUI first, flash the new oeminfo (make sure it belongs to your device), go to erecovery and restore your device, this will wipe all your data and download the firmware of the oeminfo you flashed. You can unlock your bootloader afterwards.

This thread will be discontinued, because Huawei refuses to provide unlock codes in the future, because of security reasons.
A shame that after the support end of the device it will be quite useless, cause you don´t get any security updates and have no chance to make secure again, by flashing someting else.
I recommend you not buy any Huaweidevices in the future cause of that.
Here´s my P10 Guide, the steps are the same for the P10 Plus: Huawei P10 Plus Debrand/Rebrand/Update for Oreo&Nougat
Just use the following files for the P10 Plus instead:
TWRP for P10 Plus
@AndroidFilehost: HWOTA_VKY-L29C432_B365.zip (Oreo) MD5: 0858c05a98053ad5043dfaf7041ec54e
@Mega: HWOTA_VKY-L29C432_B360.zip (Oreo)
@Mega: HWOTA_VKY-L29C432_B177.zip (Nougat)
Doesn't work on a converted single sim UK P10 plus to dual sim. Used this method to go back to B123 to get the phone to work. It was showing a different model number each time I tried to update to B177 using this method.

Did you try to update via firmware finder and did you make check with imei in that tool? That should fix your problems, if you use the FullOTA.

The FULLOTA in firmware finder says 'The firmware is not approved for installation'.
I have VKY-L09C432 which I converted to VKY-L29C432 and was on B170. I used the 3 update files from the the link you provided in step 2 'HWOTA_VKY-L29C432_B177.zip'. Was I supposed to change any of these files?

No, i think you just haven´t read the guide carefully. In firmwarefinder choose an older one, that is approved for installation.

I am back on L29C432B170 via normal OTA.
Probably messed up on 2. Run the update.bat file from a preopended CMD with adminrights, It will ask you if you copied the files. Press any key to continue.
I just ran update.bat file as an administrator. That was the only thing I did differently to the guide.
Hello guys!
So I recently bought a "Huawei P10 Plus VKY-AL00 6GB RAM 128GB Dual-Sim" from China. I want to rebrand this model to "Huawei P10 Plus VKY-L29 6GB RAM 128GB Dual-Sim". Ive unlocked bootloader. So what shall I do now ? This tutorial above is for the european model. Please help me thx!
No connection to the mobile network after rebranding
Hi
I went through all your described steps and everything worked fine. However, I've got a strange problem.
I have different SIM cards available (multiple mobiles), but only one (prepaid from croatia) is working after the procedure. The ones from Vodafone Germany and Swisscom do not work.
They work fine on other mobiles. Everything else is working fine on the P10+. The SIMs not working, are displayed in the phone, but will not connect to the mobile network of any provider.
No available networks are listed. Both SIM-slots tested.
Any idea, where the problem could come from?
Thanks for your help.
how to convert VKY-L09C432 dual sim to single sim?
Sorry for stupid question. I'm having VKY-AL00 with B217 firmware. I guess soon I will update it to Oreo. Am I still capable for rebranding?

You can still rebrand, but AL00 is already dual sim if that's what you were after.

There's a walkthrough for using HWOTA to rebrand to the L29 model: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p1...nvert-to-dualsim-huawei-p10-plus-vky-t3605071 Works very well, changed my Fido/Rogers L09 without any issues. The instructions can be a little confusing but you should be ok if you've flashed phones before.

TWRP not working
Hi,
I can't get TWRP to work on my VKY-L29. Everytime I try to get in TWRP, I get into the normal Huawei recovery again. Phone's Bootloader is definitely unlocked and it also says that writing the TWRP was sucessful. I followed all the steps as they're written. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

I don't know what to tell you...I got firmware finder as well but my latest update was 2 days ago and now i got B177.The chinese phones already got Oreo update (yesterday, two days ago). I recomand you to not update yet,use HiSuite and connect your phone to your pc.I did get B170 using the cable and having installed on my pc HiSuite,so good luck.
Hello,
Tried following the guide but now my phone VKY-L09 shows up as a NRD90M with 2GB of RAM. followed the procedure many times now but still with the same results.
Doing the rebrand seems to work (if i do it twice on the update script it shows VKY-L29C432 but after booting up it still is NRD90M.
I can boot to fastboot/twrp/erecovery without issues.
Used this file HWOTA_VKY-L29C432_B177.zip
I am from Portugal and only need for the phone to have Dual Sim

Had a similar issue. Got round it by following this guide to rebrand then used the firmware finder app to install the latest available vky-l29 update. After that I unlocked bootloader again and flashed twrp and installed magisk.

You can't rebrand (but you could brick) just by flashing c432 build.
Maybe you can do it by HWOTA7 (advantage, no need to go back to MM), similarly as explained in posts #1 and #2 (you can directly ask in the thread would it work, maybe you can escape c432 ang go directly to AL10b399 etc)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/rebrand-update-tool-hwota7-p9-eva-t3820849
But for sure you can rebrand to c432 by rolling back to MM (and then you will receive OTA updates for c432 for Nougat)

Hi
Sorry for my late answer. HWOTA7 is primarily for rebranding on Android 7 without having to downgrade to Android 6.
A) Just read first Post 1: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/rebrand-update-tool-hwota7-p9-eva-t3820849/
B) Follow the Guide from Post 2 - STEPS 0-10 (11 and 12 are only required, if something went wrong in step 10) - but in Step 8 you must choose the oeminfo for your needs (in your case L09c432) and of course, you must have the Firmware for the new oeminfo in the update folder!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77161313&postcount=2
I would recommend to use b504 for EVA-L09c432 for now, because it is currently approved

The last two zip files must be renamed! (Further instructions in Post 1...)
Wish you success

No, it doesn't contain any personal information on Android 7 and Android 6 - only on new devices with Android 8 oeminfo include IMEI.
That's why it's not possible on Android 8 to change location by changing oeminfo...
@miksly Would you please zip your oeminfo Backup and upload it for me (I would integrate into HWOTA7) , thanks
