vzw firmware mainly only works with verizon out the box and will have all the verizon bloat (jrkruse debloated it however) and should include essential verizon apps like vvm for example..
i personally prefer the U firmware since it is lightly debloated out of the box and if essential files are left in it can be used with pretty much any carrier

The only thing I miss out of the PEH rom is the stock email app. I prefer to use that over the gmail app. The PEH rom doesn't have it.

Nice!! I may finally root now! Thank you.

yes, you to be rooted to Install Flashfire and run

Just wanted to see if I am already on PF2 with root and fixes and everything flashed, is it any different then flashing this ROM and fixes and everything. (is it worth it for me to flash this?)

I've followed every step with success but if I reboot my phone for any reason after I get it set up it breaks root. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is probably a dumb question, but does Samsung pay work with this ROM? Just curious if having the VZW build would help with this?

So far so good!

Of course a new version appears after I set up the other yesterday. I'll give this one a whirl.
EDIT: installed the Playstore version and has enough functionality for me. So far so good! Please don't update this for a few weeks unless for something major. Ha Ha.
One thing: I noticed that Baseband Version is: G935UUE2APEH and Build Number is: MMB29M G935VVRSAPF2. Is that correct since you based on U firmware?

quick question, if I want to install this and I'm rooted with flashfire but on the PE1 build. Do I have to unroot, take the update then re-root and then flash your ROM? Or is there a way to just flash to the correct version then install your ROM from where I am..

You should be fine flashing this Rom on PE1 or PEH firmware. I will put together a firmware update zip for those that want it.

Is ART runtime supported on this wonderful rom? Not trying to imply that there's anything wrong with the rom because it's flawless.
It's in Dev settings/select runtime system, but it doesn't seem to stick after reboot.
Installation Prep question
I want this ROM to be the first one that I install on my Note 4 and I was hoping to get something clarified first.
Out the box , I OTA updated my firmware to NJ7. I confirmed via the Phone Info app that I have the NJ7 bootloader and baseband. I then rooted the device by odin flashing the chainfire autoroot script. And then I odin flashed the latest TWRP.
Now that I want to install Darthstalker, my question is do I need to first Odin flash Jovy's deodexed version of stock NJ7 first? (And then re-root and re-install TWRP) Or can I just proceed with installing Darthstalker?? I guess my question is whether I can flash darthstalker over the bone stock odex NJ7 rom. If not, then that point isn't really made clear for people like me who immediately rooted their out-the-box stock rom without fully appreciating the difference between odex and deodex versions. Thanks.

You don't have to do anything except flash darthstalker v1.
The deodexed version is stock and NOT odin flashable so
you don't need to bother with it at all.
You do need to do a full wipe in twrp recovery which includes:
Wipe System, Data, Cache, Dalvik and last but not least do a
"factory reset" in twrp recovery before flashing Darthstalker
custom rom using twrp recovery.
You have made a good choice choosing Darthstalker custom rom.
It's the best but don't tell anyone that I told you it was. LOL
Good luck!

You must have not done a full and complete wipe
before flashing Darthstalker rom.
Or perhaps you are using Xpose Framework and
some of it's modules which more often than not
can cause unforeseen issues in many roms.
A full and complete wipe consists of the following:
Wipe System, Cache, Data, Dalvik and last but not
least do a factory reset in twrp before flashing.
The Darthstalker rom has a lot more toggles than
any other rom currently available for our Note 4.
It has a total of twenty nine toggles which includes
Mobile Hotspot and Mobile Data and a lot more.
Good luck!
Hey...thank you for the help. You're exactly right, I have xposed installed and the following modules: disable fullscreen keyboard, greenify, and wanam. Should I disable some or all of these modules? Should I uninstall xposed framework? Or should I just wipe and reflash?

If I were you I would uninstall all of the xposed stuff then reboot
the phone make sure all the toggles are there and that everything
is working properly.
No need to uninstall greenify or disabling the keyboard.
Since the Note 4 is still very new the themers and modders have not yet
started to develop any themes or mods for it this is why so many people
started using xposed and it's modules.
Hopefully the developers of xpose and wanam will update their apps making
them fully compatible with the Note 4's Kitkat 4.4.4 android operating system.
If you decide to reflash the rom don't forget to do a full and complete wipe.
Good luck!

AOSP apps remover v1.2 | Android 7.x | 11/08/16

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked devices or other issues.
For all of you who likes clean ROM and hate duplication between system and user apps folders this tool will help. This will remove all defaults AOSP apps except launcher and keyboard. I suggest after removing to install pico version of gapps or all of this will not make much sense. Also boot animation will be gone, trim it to the bone
For everything else you may need use Play Store. This way upgrading existing apps will not make any duplicates.
Please don't hesitate to post if you like to see some more apps to be included in this remover.

I've noticed this too on my Nexus 6 regardless of ROM- Google Camera does not show up in the PlayStore. Like others have mentioned if you sideload the apk from somewhere like apkmirror it will work. Alternatively you can try clicking on this direct link from your Nexus 6 and it should hopefully take you to the play store with google camera displayed- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera

I ran this while doing a clean install of Pure Nexus. Zips flashed in TWRP in this order: 1) Pure Nexus, 2) Full GAPPS (linked from Pure Nexus), 3) B14CKB1RD kernel, 4) phh's superuser, 4) 320 dpi, 5) AOSP apps remover. Google camera was available on first boot. ?
Two possible AOSP app oversights: AOSP keyboard (risky, I get it), and AOSP spell check (part of keyboard app?).
No problems experienced after booting into ROM and getting everything setup to taste. This is now a go-to/must have flash for me. Thanks!

Yeah, on 7.1.1 right now. The Pure Nexus FAQ clued me into these flashables. Adjusting the display size may confuse the DPI change, but a reflash of the DPI zip fixed it for me in 7.0 (and I haven't messed with it in 7.1.1).

Go into settings/apps then click on the cog in upper right corner. Now set your current diaper app as default for phone. This should fix your problem.
any chances to do a flashable zip that could work in all devices?

thanks for rom, im coming from another custom rom, so which step i can begin to install?
If you come from another custom rom,you must flash recovery official via MT9_TWRP_3.1.0-1 and hwota method for come back stock firmware.
MT9_TWRP_3.1.0-1 use for flash twrp and recovery.
-flash twrp >press 1

Why is this mod named P10? Is it because you ported the P10 to Mate 9, or because the P10 can also use this update?
This is not my custom rom.
This custom rom is port from p10 to Mate 9.
Rom can not update firmware P10.

You can try for your method.
@newyesor, I first would like to thank you for supporting my app "The SELinux Toggler" but, I've just got to clear up something first (nothing negative at all)...
You are providing the flashable version of "The SELinux Toggler v4.3.7" but, there's 2 questions that I've got to ask you.
1) Is there a specific reason for offering only the flashable zip and not including the apk installer as well? This is just out of curiosity.
2) The SELinux Toggler version on your OP is actually an older version. Currently, the latest one is "v4.3.9" located in the following thread:
[APP][TOOL][4.2+]The SELinux Toggler by Ibuprophen
Also, just for a quick heads up, there's a new app (currently being beta tested) that will supercede/replace The SELinux Toggler....
It'll be called "The SELinux Switch". This new app will look like The SELinux Toggler but, it'll be completely severed from the old SELinuxModeChanger app because it will no longer share the same package name (Installation Directory). It's pretty much a new app with some better enhancements and compatibility improvements (though, still some more improvements to be made).
Thank you all for your time, understanding and, especially, your support for my development.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns (of course for The SELinux Toggler app itself).

[Help requested] Options for Root and Xposed on XZ1C

Just ordered my XZ1C and looking forward to joining this community!
I'm looking to root and install systemless xposed (Magisk) on the XZ1C while keeping camera functionality equivalent to stock quality. It would be great if the solution allows me to keep current with new ROM versions (primarily for security updates). What is less important:
- Ok with either stock or custom ROMs (access to ongoing security updates most important)
- Know that DRM keys will be gone forever (but as long as camera functionality still there, that's fine)
- Ok with using any camera app (stock, gcam, etc.) as long as it retains quality similar to stock
After trawling through this and the XZ1 forum, I believe there are 3 options to achieve what I need (root and xposed), and would like advice from the community on pros/cons of each of the following:
1. Custom ROM with DRM fix included: Unlock bootloader, install TWRP, install custom ROM which comes with DRM fix (e.g. @modpunk 's LineageOS, @russel5 's RR or AOSP)
2. @janjan 's kernel: Unlock bootloader, update to latest compatible stock firmware using flashtool, install janjan's DRM fix kernel
3. Xperifix: "automated" black-box solution and fingers crossed that it works
Any recommendations on which option would be best for me given my objectives? Thanks!
You can use my stock mod. Ddmfix included, superuser mod, deodexed, on the last page of thread you can find fix for xposed

russel5's rom is pretty amazing, full of features and falls into number 1 on your list.
2 and 3 refrence stock roms with either a fixed kernel or automated flashing of all the files you need.
The stock camera is best and as much as I am tempted by rr, I don't think it beats stock camera software for pictures. So I'd say a lot of your decision has to do with how much you like taking pictures?
The stock firmware from April .75 is the last firmware that works with Xposed and one of your problems will be finding a copy of that to flash and downgrade your new arrival.
You might need to get janjan's old (.75) kernel from github as he is only showing the latest 16.20 on his thread.
I get moaned at for promoting Xperiafix because it's paid software, but it's a one stop shop, it does everything and it's so easy. It has worked smoothly every time I've used it
Depending on your skillset and how many files you want to find and flash Vs one program.

- so seems like between Xposed and having the latest security updates, I have to choose one of the two. Or might there be a workaround for Xposed on the 16.20 stock rom?
- with xperifix, can one achieve Xposed? (Whether on latest or downgraded rom?)
- purchased this phone partly for the camera, so I will go with stock rom if that has the best quality. Does stock rom also have a portrait or lens blur mode similar to google cam?

As far as I'm aware there's no way a stock rom 16.20 will work with Xposed. There are several custom roms that are updated to 16.20, but still pull historical parts of the framework with them to make Xposed work.
Xperiaifx will work on .75 firmware. It will install TWRP, Magisk and the fix. Once you have Magisk on it you can install the Xposed framework module (SDK26)
The Sony camera has many addons, I don't know about portrait.
Google camera works on russel5's rr, but again the quality isn't up to stock.
Having been through the pollava of unlocking and rooting my phone, I'd say the advantages don't outweigh the effort and problems. Every time there's an update to the firmware, which is quite often with Sony, you have to wait and hope some nice developer is going to make the files you need to keep up to date. Then go through a long proccess with downloading the new firmware with Xperiafirm, then flashing with Newflasher and then whatever files you need to reflash from the developer. You'll never get OTA updates again. Having a rooted phone is a pain in the neck.

Thats not right, I use now firmware 16.20 with janjans kernel and russel5's xposed fix (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77778634&postcount=47) it works, and I'm very happy with it. Thanks to janjan and russel5 for his xposed fix (and mod)

hi @d_fens. how did you go about installing this system less xposed fix on your stock oreo 16.20? should i do the following:
1. stock oreo 16.20
2. flash magisk via twrp.
3. boot into phone and copy xposed fix into /system/framework/
4. then flash systemless xposed via twrp?
thanks

i used janjan's mod to get systemless root on stock. with this you are able to update using newflasher all the latest roms with security updates provided by Sony
you don't have to choose between xposed and the latest security updates:
for xposed, i've tried both Taichi Magisk (taichi.cool) and Virtual Xposed (also via Magisk). both work fine but Taichi is a smoother implementation (only activates xposed for those apps that you whitelist). it is however not open source (yet), though this was not a concern for me. also, it supports not all xposed apps but a subset
the xposed modules that i absolutely needed to have are all working on Taichi: Xposed Edge, CorePatch, AppContext, WeXposed, God Mode

The process is simple.....But there are a few requirements that you need to do before hand.
1. Unlock your Bootloader
2. Patch your Boot.img using Magisk
3. Install Twrp. If compatible with your device. In my case I used "Geiti94" Twrp he provided (TWRP_A30_A305F_V3_ASH1.tar) this worked for me even though I've got a A305GN and was flashed using Odin.
4. Download GSI rom of your choice just make sure you download the right version for your phone otherwise you'll face endless bootloops. *****You can use "Treble Info.apk" ***** to find out what your phone system supports as there are 4 types
5. Boot into Twrp, Tap on Wipe then Advanced Wipe then select "Dalvik/Art Cache" System" Data" leave everything else as it is. Then swipe to Wipe.
6. Then go back to Twrps main screen and tap on Install and navigate to where you put the GSI file by Selecting Storage then Install Image this will show only GSI image files. Then select your GSI file then select which Partition to flash to.....Which is SYSTEM.... DONE.

My system is a Arm64 compatible with a SystemAB GSI

I haven't experienced any sort of errors/bugs yet. Everything I use on a daily basis works, but if there are any errors/bugs they have yet to show themselves.
You have to understand that there are going to be errors/bugs in any custom firmware you flash to your phone, that's just the way it is nothing's 100% besides Stock.
I installed AOSP, it was easy. I am from Latin America and I had no problems placing the TWRP or loading the ROM, and the phone works much faster and the battery, it seems to last much longer
-Sorry for my bad English

What AOSP GSI image did you go with? Was it already Rooted with SU?
Have you manage to resize your screen to allow your icons at the top of your screen to fiit
If you by any chance have "Phh Treble Settings" in your "Settings" then your good to go.
Yes, it is already rooted. I did it with the last one published in AOSP, published 4 days ago I think, download the version with gapps, you ride it with TWRP (it's in img) and that's it

Hi, I'm from Latin America too. My cell phone model is the SM-A305GU and I would also like to install AOSP but I don't have enough knowledge and I don't want my cell phone to be like an unusable brick. Could you guide me to get this?
PD: Sorry for my bad English.

I'm not the OP but when I tried Lineage Phh-Treble, there was an option about diameter of round corners in "Phh Treble Settings"->"Misc settings" and I set that to 20 and then the problem was fixed.

Yep that's the settings your looking for
I have found that not all the Android 10 gsi I've used have this feature, Pixel Experience Q 28102019 being one of them.
so I've flashed this zip via TWRP to regain this ability. I know it doesn't work on all of them but its worth a try for those of you out there willing to give it a go.
I have successfully flashed the aosp 10 gsi (latest one) seems to be working really good.
The transitions seems to be little bit lagging with the stock launcher, and using other launcher totally removes the way task changer works. Which launcher are you guys using?
Can you make us tuturial please:fingers-crossed:
