Boot Animation zips - Verizon Note 7 Themes, Apps, and Mods

So coming from a note4 to the note7 I'd figured I would try my favorite boot animation and it works. Flash with flashfire.

Are you saying you flashed the [MM]SmartAndroidMBootanimation.zip file and it is working? If so I'll be modifying my own bootanimtion and using this method to install. I like the backup feature, much easier than renaming the old files.

Rooted or no?

I've never tried the full sprint Rom. I rooted using overdrive method. But I would think it would work the same since all the fw is universal.. But all I did was download the zip, flashed in flashfire. Rebooted and it booted up with the boot animation. no more Verizon boot animation

Here's the method I used. Pretty straight forward. Just follow the guide to a T and it will work.

Both current root methods use the Sprint userdebug to replace the Verizon recovery. I used OvrDriVE's method which adds a few more steps to flash parts of Verizon firmware which leaves you basically with stockish Verizon but Sprint kernel.

[Guide] root and unbrick [UPDATED 6/14/2013]

This is an updated (and short) version of my guide for rooting and/or unbricking your DROID 3. This method works on Motorola phones running Android OS 2.3.4 or earlier. If you have a version of MotoBlur/Android on your DROID 3 that isn't compatible with this version, you can use the unbrick method to return your DROID 3 to MotoBlur 5.6.890 Verizon OTA first.
All instructions and downloads are linked from my website at:
www.psouza4.com/DROID3
UPDATE 9/1/2011 1.03: completely re-written, includes one-click root and unroot for practically all Motorola Gingerbread devices, /system/app fix & restore, and ADB temp root. DROID 3 fixes work for build 5.5.959 (stock) and 5.6.890 (late August OTA update).
UPDATE 9/8/2011 1.05: lots of logic testing for fixing bad root attempts/root carry-over's for DROID X, DROID 2 Global, and other devices. Some messages were made clearer, and unrooting is now open to other devices (/system/app restore optional).
UPDATE 7/8/2012 1.08: new links for the system restore features
UPDATE 6/14/2013 1.09: guide re-written, files re-uploaded, everything should be working again (I removed /system/app restore feature since it wasn't reliable and now unnecessary with unbrick/restore methods)
Thanks! That was dead easy and i'm happy that i still have root after rebooting a couple of times.
I assume that if i do a factory wipe, I will have to use this root method again, right?

No, you will lose superuser.apk which can be re-installed from the market as it is wiped when the /data partition is formatted, but su and busybox are installed in /system/xbin and will not be removed during a factory reset, so it will survive a factory reset (but you will just need to reinstall superuser).
oki doki.... i saw another thread on unrooting the phone and if i have to exchange it, i'll experiment there

Great work. Two things I have rooted by installing cwm recovery then flashing this rom and Google search keeps force closing. I flashed the deodexed version, first I just did a dirty flash, since I was coming from unrooted stock, so I thought maybe ifi go through all the wiping steps, factory reset and then flash but it still fc s. Second thing I thought maybe I'll try the odexed version since I'm coming from stock unrooted and the link won't work. The little green download button pops up but when it's pressed nothing happens then says page won't load. Any ideas?

VS980 Official 24A KDZ

Using this method you can manually update your phone and it downloads the 24A KDZ to your PC. The KDZ stacks up to 2gb. I haven't completed the install yet (using hotspot to download KDZ on laptop), but I would assume this does a complete factory reset. Will update when I have completed it.

I know you want to do this, but I'd think about it. It's possible you'll lock your device down. I'd wait til the devs get this first. And look for news from them that it's safe and you can downgrade if needed. My 2 cents.

While there is a good chance it will still work. It might not. But if it didn't root would be obtained soon most likely. The bigger worry is the boot loader. No custom recovery potentially. If last minute stuff was added etc... Might be fine. But I wouldn't take a chance on locking my device til I was sure. S4 been locked since July. Many a tear over there for taking ota.

Good to know. I went ahead and restored to 10B via TOT method (I had the intial hacked 24B without the kernel and what not). Performed the update via KDZ per Droid Life article and lost root. Re-rooted via IORoot25 and all is up and running. I'm content with Google Experience Launcher and Hotspot hack. Might try and flash TWRP via the previous 24A methods.

Yup. I deleted recovery and boot images leaving just system and it flashed only system preserving my TWRP.
I needed a quick 100% stock system to check if there is an update for Stagefright so it was a quick way to flash it.
I am starting to think about moving off of a TMO ROM even sacrificing WiFi calling in a process as the bloat and problems with upgrades are a bit discouraging to me. I guess I am spoiled with my Nexuses and 1+ in this regard and G4 is my first mainstream phone. Locked bootloader, a mess with updates..... not sure if I've made a good decision....

So did you just flash the system.img (only) with TWRP? Or the whole zip without boot.bin and recovery.bin? I could use this to revert back to stock with root, and debloat from this? Also, is it stable this way?

I think I screwed up, but I'll learn from it. I find this to be the hardest I've done to root. The G4 requires so much, I'm my opinion. It's not bricked, that's all it matters.

Huh? Locked boot loader? This is an LG phone, not Samsung. Go to Developer Options and unlock your boot loader if you want lol
