GOT TROUBLE WHILE INSTALLING A RECOVERY? GET A WORKING TWRP RECOVERY AFTER 2 MINUTES ON YOUR XPERIA LOLLIPOP/MARSHMALLOW DEVICE::good:
open any root explorer app like ES FILE MANAGER
Delete /system/etc/mm_twrp_recovery folder
Go to /system/bin/ folder
Look for the "chargemon.stock" file - If it's present, delete this one: chargemon - and now, rename the chargemon.stock to chargemon
Look for the "taimport.stock" file - If it's present, delete this one: taimport - and now, rename the taimport.stock to taimport
Reboot
download "recovery fix.zip" from mega.nz
extract the file and run "adbrecoveryfix.exe" the .exe file will install some needed files (normally into C:\Minimal ADB and Fastboot\ )
copy the files from the folder "RECOVERY FILES" into the "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" Folder
connect your xperia with the pc
open the "m a a d" folder and then SHIFT+RIGHT CLICK to open a command window
now type:
adb shell
su root
mount -o remount,rw /system
exit
exit
install.bat
Click to collapse
:victory:
don´t forget to press enter after "adb shell", "su root" and so on!
now your recovery will install again without any errors!
Another simple Method: thanks @meer_mortal
Delete folders and rename chargemon etc
Plugged phone into computer with dev settings, debugging etc
Open root explorer to make / -RW
Run install.bat with CMD
Boom! MM with TWRP
To get in into recovery reboot press down after green LED
Click to collapse

the recovery zip file isn`t flashable! it contains the needed adb drivers + the recovery files

Ignore the error and execute the second "dd" command. If you get messages similar to the following, then you may have successfully flashed CWM recovery. You can try again by rebooting to recovery using AnReboot:

You must be sure that your phone is rooted and that usb debug in on. (It seems to be the write rights.)

[Q] [RESOLVED] Need instructions for installing CWM on ZV8 Rooted

I just need instructions on installing Clockwork on rooted zv8. The AIO does not work for me. It hangs at starting daemon.
Are you in internet connection mode with debugging enable? I know it sounds like a stupid question but I had a brain fart when doing it and forgot that part... doh!
My USB connection is broken, so here is how I did it using terminal emulator.
1) Download the cwmrecovery.img to your SD. ( I downloaded MT's zip file and then extracted all with root explorer, but you only need the cwmrecovery.img file.)
2) Use root explorer to copy or move it to the /data/local/tmp directory (make sure permissions are set to r/w/exe).
3) Launch terminal emulator and type these commands:
su
mount -orw,remount /dev/block/system /system
mount -orw,remount /dev/block/data /data
dd if=/data/local/tmp/cwmrecovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p14 bs=4096
rm /data/local/tmp/* 2>/dev/null
4) exit terminal emulator and then reboot.
You can then try the vol down+power button combo upon boot to enter CWM.
Good luck.

Then it reboots to a black screen. Clock work never loads. I pull the battery and it reboots normally. It will not reboot to clockwork. It does the same in the screen shot every time I run that batch.

It still needs the local.prop for the way I have the bat coded. Put it back in data and rerun, you should be good to go!

Where do I grab the local.prop and how do I put it in? :x
Same issue here as the rest. Getting "Operation not permitted" and permission errors
As I kept my local.prop as local.prop.bak, I renamed it back and restarted the phone, everything appears to have gone through now.
Thanks MT.

How do you change the permissions of the /data folder to r/w/exe as you mentioned?
I am having a problem because I don't currently have the Local.prop file and I need to add it to that folder but I am getting a permission denied message.

Trying to apply the GPS Fix for LG P970

Having found the fix'es on this site for the GPS, I am having a great deal of trouble applying it.
Using ES File Explorer I can navigate to root/etc - but I if I try to add or delete it just tells me the file can not be deleted (or added/copied/renamed or whatever I try). So how do I overcome this?
Secondly, I have to change the file permissions.
e.g.
5.Set permissions as follows
gps.conf rw- r-- r--
gps_brcm_conf.xml rwx rwx --x
Where do I go to make these changes?
Thanks.
1. I think your system partition is mounted as read-only, so you have to mount it as read/write - then changes are allowed. In Es file explorer there is such option in settigs menu.
2. To change permission using Es, put your finger on file you want to change permisions and hold a while. When 'operations' menu appers, go to option 'properties' and there is window where you can change permissions

1. Cant find any options that do this.
2. doing this only gives me buttons for "check checksum" and "OK", but I suspect if once I can change things in root I may get different options.
If you have rooted phone and root permiossions for Ex file explorer granted, then:

in my case it looks like this... and work well
and:
Arr yes, I see it now. But its greyed out and wont let me activate it. When I try to enable root explorer I get this message:
Warning: When 'SU Request' dialog popup, please select 'always allow' or make system 'remember' your 'allow' choice. Do you want to try this feature anyway?
It then says "sorry, test failed, this feature cannot be run on your phone"
So looking up this new problem I installed some adb software to fix my SU Request problem. But it adb software only says it only works on rooted devices and wont let me do anything..... frustrating
EDIT: I have installed GingerBreak to root it. But its been trying to do so for over an hour...
You need to be your phone rooted.
The method changed in versions 20, the best option is bin/fls converter:

Yes, you need to root your device for this feature, if gingerbreak didn't work the first time is not going to work at all, i had to flash from smartflash tool in N00BY0815's guide for noobs =)

Thanks, but way to complex for me. All this stuff seems to be about changing ROMs, not just unrooting the phone, which is probably why I am having trouble grasping it.
ErnuB solution unfortunately has a youtube video which isn't in English and doesn't seem to apply to my particular version of phone which is V20c with Android 2.3.4
I will keep looking.....

Not booting: Stock recovery but root

I´ve got root access on my device but i only have got the stock recovery of android 4.3. I am able to push an twrp recovery image to the tmp partition. Now my question is if i can flash the recovery by "dd if=/tmp/recovery.img of=/dev/????". Which partition is the recovery partition?
Thank you
Edit: I did cat /tmp/recovery.img >/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 and now there is a red string when i try to enter the recovery
@Simon_29
You didn't enter proper commands, Check attachment follow space and symbols.
-Place recovery.img in internal storage
-Download android emulator from playstore
-grant su access
-Type codes from attachment
-change recovery263 with current recovery name
That's it.
NOTE on't type adb shell if you're using terminal in phone.
