NFC Track Pad ?! - Nexus 5 Developer Discussion [Developers Only]

Hi All,
Does anybody know if there is any option for N5 owners to use NFC stickers or cards as mouse or scrolling feature. Basically what I am thinking is a case with NFC tag for N5 that can do operations like quick notification , scroll on apps, clear notification or double tap actions etc ?!? Is this possible or am i missing something... Can NFC tags detect touch or pressure ?!

nope.

[Q] Is it possible to switch lockscreen types with just an NFC chip?

I really prefer using the finger print scanner for my lock screen at work. The phone has a tendency of turning on in my pocket and doing stuff while in there. When I'm at home or out and about it's less of a worry. So can I switch it from finger print mode to a swipe unlock with just an NFC tag? If I have to swipe my finger after tapping the NFC tag to switch fingerprint mode off is fine.
You might check out gravity screen in the play store. It keeps the phone off in your pocket very reliably.
I think there was an xposed module that allowed you to change the lock screen. May be able to work something up where it changes depending on if you are at home or work. Sorry probably not the most helpful post.....

Any gesture apps that mimics the Samsung S10e power/fingerprint button?

As mentioned in the title, does anyone know of any existing gesture applications that mimics the power/fingerprint reader button of the Samsung Galaxy S10e? specifically the swipe down to show the notification panel. I know the xz1c is not a large device and I can certainly reach the top edge one handed, however I think it's still nice to utilize the power button for this or other features.

you can try fingerprint scanner apps available on the play store, and use tasker shortcuts to achieve this. the fingerprint scanners are not always reliable though, and need to be removed from doze / battery optimization to work consistently
alternatively, if rooted you can try the Xposed Edge module. I swipe down the side edges of my device to pull the notification bar down, and it works very well

Persistant Nav Bar

Hi,
I'm currently searching for a way to make my S10's navigation bar persistant in every app. (also in fullscreen apps)
If you watch a youtube video or play a game on a device without hardware keys its not possible anymore to switch instantly.
When i remember how easy and fast it was on my s7 edge, a single click from everywhere got me back on my homescreen and a double tap on the menu button switched to the last app.
In my S10's settings i found something in setting/display/navigationbar but the gestures are not really an replacement. (especially when you use your phone with one hand)
I don't know how bad screen burnin is when i have the bar on the whole time but if the buttons where black it would not be a problem i think?
cheers

How can i create shortcuts for specific settings?

Hi Guys,
do you know any possibility how i can create some sort of on/off toggle widget for a specific setting to add to my homescreen?
The specific situation i want to solve:
I started using my bicycle more often and use my p20 pro as Navigation System which i place in a Cellphone Holder with a plastic cover. Normally, im not showing any navigation bar on my phone and use the fingerprint scanner for home/switch/back buttons, but that does not work, since the phone has a plastic cover when its in the bicycle phone holder.
since i drive to work and home (plus some private cycling in the evening), i have to switch that setting at least 4 times a day :/
so, if anyone knows any tricks/apps/whatever that could help, please let me know, thanks in advance

I keep thinking about trying NFC tags, but never got around to it. They sound like the ideal solution to your problem, if something like NFC Tools can write Huawei-specific settings like the navigation settings, that is. Maybe someone else can give more detail?
i believe there's plenty of widgets app available in playstore that will help you to do that. The most customisable would be tasker of course, but that need root.

Question Toggle S Pen in Quick Panel?

Got the S pen but only use it for taking notes maybe once a day if that. Is it possible to toggle it on/off in the quick panel? I'd like the digitizer to be off to save battery. I guess the real question is - is there any way to add custom buttons to the quick panel that can toggle system settings? Does Good Lock do that?

Click to collapse
AFAIK not available in stock rom.
You must root and "manipulate" system toggles or install a custom rom with this feature.
I read about options to change the action of the s pen button tap:

And here is a thread about this missing "disable s pen" button:
Disable button on stylus
I forget the name of the button on the stylus that launches the wheel thingy, but it would be great it it could be disable completely. I use Lecturenotes and it's great that I can disable the wheel pop up, but I can't disable the button...

Unfortunately there isn't an option.
