Hey guys!! so earlier I have come up with Dolby Atmos mod for Samsung Nougat devices, but it still bugged me that Viper4Android was not working!! So after countless hours of brainstorming, I finally got viper4android to work on Nougat!!
So here you go!! Also works with my Dolby Atmos!

Requirements:
- Samsung device
- Nougat rom (N-lite V3 rom users, please wait for V4 rom. Pre-installed busybox on V3 interferes with viper driver installation)
- Rooted by Magisk (Dolby does not need root. Only viper needs root by magisk)
Installation instructions:
- Flash attached viper zip file and UPDATE zip file in TWRP. Users already using this mod, please see update instructions below.
- Reboot
- Install Busybox by Meefik here - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.meefik.busybox&hl=en
- Open Viper4android app and install drivers if it prompts.
- Enjoy!! Flash DolbyAtmos zip if you want
Update instructions:
- Uninstall Viper4android drivers from the menu in Viper4android app.
- Flash the update zip.

Oh it doesn't? That's weird, I did notice some change in sound, but I didn't bother much cos I found it sounds worse

I am using Dev-base QB4.. Yeah some N-lite users have said that it does not work for them.. Maybe he changed something that is required by viper? I will talk to rainbow_dash and see what's up.

Okay, so I talked to rainbow_dash and apparently he had some other busybox built into the v3 version of his rom, that's not compatible with viper. And even if you install the meefik one, it reverts back to his busybox after a reboot. And he has agreed to fix that in the upcoming N-lite v4!

I don't see remote service in my Samsung phone, maybe it's something specific to your phone. Try freezing this remote service using Titanium backup or something like that, if you don't use it...

no, i mean when open dolby atmos, eq work well but if i press back button to back home, dolby atmos not fuction. I ever use Dolby Digital and when pressing back to back home, Dolby eq not fuction and written "remote service stopped". although there is no such statement in your Dolby atmos but it happened exactly. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and my bad english. btw thanks for your job :good:

Lol. Nopes, I am also still on 4.4.4 with Calkulins modified CM11s. I don't really see a need to go to Alpha and Beta stage lollipop roms. Will switch when stable releases start rolling.
I haven't tried this mod yet but one question though. Does it effect speaker output too? or its more targeted towards earphone/headphone listening experience?

Well I only really focused on headphones quality but it should of affected the speaker quality too, I didn't really take note on the speakers

Thanks for trying it out, if you want I can make a generic mod that will work on all 4.4.4 roms but the sound won't be as good. If you can upload your framework file for me I can get it working for you.
If anyone else wants me to make this work for their Rom please tell me.

I'm afraid not, the mod is based on xplay 3s and the device hasn't yet received lollipop so until I can't really do anything [emoji53]

Yeah try it without v4a, if you upload your mixer_path.xml found in /system/etc, I will modify it so you will keep microphone fix + stereo mid

Updated sound mod - it will now check to see if you're using mahdi rom or not and flash files accordingly. Also the mod will now edit mixer_paths instead replacing it so your other mods (camera, speaker, mic, etc) will still work.

it's a big improvement from stock. but if you have viper4android with precise settings ( there is a guide somewhere ) , the improvement is not so big from that version. but having a mixer_path modified is better than having a EQ app! so i approve your work thanks!

If you flash the Dolby, you can't use the Sony sound features, right? I remember flashing a dolby mod before but when changing EQ settings and headphone type, it doesn't work anymore.

Disable on Settings app/Apps/All the Both Dolby Apps and then reboot

Same applies, here. At times i found myself having to clear the data on the Audio settings apps for the Dolby mod to kick in.
Other than that , this mod has excellent clarity at high volumes. :good:

Indeed it does! It'd be much, much better if you didn't have to keep clearing the data for Audio settings in order for Dolby to work though. :/

I can't flash this mod on my Z2 on Existenz Y 1.5.0. All the time when I boot into recovery (PhilZ and TWRP) and try to flash zip, recovery shows error flashing, aborted. I have locked bootloader. What am I doing wrong?

Your download must be corrupted, download again and try.. Be sure to wipe caches before and after..

yes, bad download. Installed Dolby and turned off Sound Enhancement. Are all these mods enabled or do I have to enable them somewhere?

Disclaimer
Installing mods on your Android device may leave it non-functional or even soft-brick it. DroidOrigin will not be responsible if anything such happens. Recovering is easy however, and we will definitely help you.
Before You Begin
- To install V4A, you must have a rooted phone. If you haven’t rooted yet, you can check for your device in our Rooting section.
- Make sure no other audio mods are installed, like AudioFX. If there is, you will need to remove it completely. If you have problems doing so, use Titanium Backup for.
- Also, you must have BusyBox installed on your ROM. You can download it by clicking the link below. (You can try other busybox installer apps, but if you face issues while installing V4A drivers, you must install this one.)

In case the driver installation fails – It seems like some manufacturer specific devices require SELinux status to be set as Permissive. You can use SELinuxModeChanger app to do the required. Thanks to our reader — Avip, for notifying this.
Steps to Install ViPER4Android on Marshmallow:
1. Go to the V4A website and download ViPER4Android FX, or direct link : http://www.mediafire.com/?ar5men9o5ar7inb
2. Move the downloaded ViPER4Android_FX_v2401_A4.x-A6.x.apk to the phone’s storage.
3. Make sure, you have enabled Unknown sources in Settings > Security.
4. Now, using a file manager (e.g Solid Explorer), install the apk manually, as you normally would do.
5. Once it has been installed, go to app drawer and run ViPER4Android FX.
6. When you will run the app for the first time, it will prompt you to install V4A drivers on your device, so tap on Yes. As soon as you tap, you will have to grant root permissions, so choose GRANT.
7. V4A app will automatically detect the system and install appropriate drivers for the mod to work properly, and upon completion, the following message will be displayed: ‘Driver installed, please reboot your device’. And now as advised, reboot your phone/tablet (I hope you know how to do that!).
8. When the device has rebooted, again launch ViPER4Android FX app.
9. Tap on the 3-dot menu button on the top-right of the app, and select Driver Status. It should display Status: Normal.
If the driver installation fails, read the last point of the ‘Prerequisites’.
10. Start using ViPER4Android now! Tweak the settings to best match your phone and output device. Are you using specific profiles for your phone? Post them below and share it with other users.

I think you have to disable audio fx or music fx.

Enable : no, is not good should be yes and processing : no is ok for me.
You should have Music FX or Audio FX remove like say Vicky90.
You can use Titanium Backup to completely remove it.
You absolutely must remove Audio tweaking stuff what is in your Rom.

I can't find any Music FX or Audio FX in app drawer, using Titanium or manually looking through data and priv-app folders. Weird. I'm running Overdrive 's MM ROM v. 9 and Beastmode 56.8 kernel. No other audio mods installed or enabled. I'll keep digging...
@rYz11 then make sure busybox installed and change selinux mode to permissive if not set.

Thanks. Yes, stericson busybox is installed and updated and I'm running a permissive kernel (Beastmode 56.8). I'm noticing slight gain so I'll keep playing with it and ignore the not enabled messages.

Well, what version of busybox do you install ? The one I give the link ? Because other don't work for me.
And Enable should be yes because if not ViPER4Android shouldn't work.
Maybe if you are any audio tweaking stuff in your phone/Rom it's kernel fault who use audio mod. And are you using Xposed ? Because that could be bad too.
But I don't know the ROM and kernel you are using so it's difficult to help.
I have for long time stay away of ViPER4Android because I was thinking it was another illusion of sound quality, but good install and well configure, WOW !

Np, all is good now as long as I remember to check driver status when music is playing.
I already had busybox installed, I made sure it was updated. FYI - I'm running Overdrive's MM Rom (T-Mobile Note 4) with Beastmode 56.8.
@Vink67 I have tried this (Open Source Version) and it does everything for you (even if SELinux is enforcing) and is easier in my opinion

That was the only way I could get it working for me. With the app of the OP, everything goes OK, and driver status enabled, etc., but it hasn't any effect in sound.
I have stock rom+kernel, but with exposed and gravity box.
A much easier way to install Viper is in this thread:

Just download Viper stock 5.4 zip, flash in recovery and voila! No need to mess with the selinux changer app or do anything else.

Its 2.4.0.1 which is the most up to date version of v4a. I was only suggesting it because you don't have to use selinux mode changer app, which is dangerous for security reasons. Not to mention the zip takes care of everything for you.

Hey Guys!! So I was pretty frustrated that none of the existing audio mods work on the newly released Nougat roms for S6 edge+ and Note 5 (or at least none of the existing audio mods that I have tried). So I went ahead and made my own version of Dolby Atmos mod that works on the new Nougat roms.
Should work on pretty much all the new Samsung devices on nougat, starting from the S6 and maybe even non Samsung devices.
Does not require SELinux to be permissive or anything as such. Don't Worry

Hi. I made my mods based on port of Dolby Atmos from HERE.
Need custom recovery adapted for 8.0(oreo)(recommend TWRP 3.2.0-0+)
Dolby Atmos Oreo mods*new sound*
Mods work with magisk and also with supersu. Combination with Viper FX 2.5.0.5 give you simply wonderfull sound. All build simply different . Need select for self more compatable. Maybe temporary bootloops after reboot from recovery , dont worry try reboot else one(only one). Sometimes on roms with magisk root is lost. Do reboot. Mods which with Viper's prepared can install via TWRP and then can install ViperFX 2.5.0.5 as ordinary application. So in magisk roms you can delete Dolby via magisk manager and Viper FX from rom settings .
Who want to get mod with SonyMusic&ViperFX&DolbyAtmos can add to DolbyAtmos&ViperFX simply Sony Music application from here .

Need update Sony Music after start.
How install:
Install mod via TWRP. If you select mod with Viper need after start system start at first Viper then player and then Dolby. Now you can do settings of sound. Will may be bootloop. Try else one after hard reset.
Notice. You can have issues with Viper's work. In this case you have a solution by@docnok63(click link) . More info in main thread.
How uninstall:
For using magisk root roms:
Mods with Sony Music Player that you want to restore system completely please use backup from recovery or flash your rom without wipes.
For mods without Sony Player you can at first delete Dolby module in magisk and then use Viper's uninistaller that delete Viper and restore system files.
For using supersu preferable use backup from recovery or flash your rom without wipes.

I said SEPARATED it mean ViperFX excluded. i was tested and Viper doesnt work, only dolby worked properly, latest NOS Official 8.1.0, rooted with Magisk 15.3

How did the installation go? When does this pop-up message occur? Does the dolby and the viper work? If yes , you try freeze this service in Titanium Backup.
