Redmi Note 4 vs Note 4x Tempered Glass? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Accessories

Hey guys, just a quick question. Couldn't find a direct answer to this question (yes I did search), but I did want to just make sure before I go buy a screen protector for my Redmi Note 4x. I hear that the SD Redmi Note 4 has a slightly different front glass to the MTK Redmi Note 4 - is this the same case with the Redmi Note 4x? Can I use a screen protector for a MTK Redmi Note 4, or do I need one for a SD Redmi Note 4? Or is it something unique once again? Looking forward to a straight answer!
PS: Why does Xiaomi have to make their product lines so confusing

Note 4 has LED notification light on the RIGHT side of the speaker - Note 4X has LED notification light on the LEFT side of the speaker (this means that tempered glass for Note 4 will not fit Note 4X)

No - if it doesn't bother you. Phone will work fine - only thing is that you will not be able to see LED notifications - missed calls, messages, when charging etc.

YES!
It is not funny - all better full covering tempering glass compatible for 2.5D displays made for Note 4 or Note 4x are NOT transparent in top and bottom sides,
and they actualy come in various colors - as you can see in this pic:

Yeah, I'm just buying cheap glass ones, not the coloured ones from Xiaomi. So it sounds like I'll be fine

Ok - but note this - buying cheap glass will not cover yours display edge to egde - there will be significant gap since it is 2.5D curved display

I'll have a case on my phone so that won't be a big deal. Even so, they're only 90c or so.
Edit: if it turns out that the cheap glass is really bad, is there a cost effective tempered glass that will cover the entire screen that is worth looking at?

Old post, but I wanted to mention that the Redmi Note 4X with Helio CPU have it's notification led on the right side.

also just ordered Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (snapdragon) off Ali
Looking for a tempered glass edge to edge? any suggestions?

Same bro did you find one ? fit SD version

This is an old post of mine but figured I'd might as well update. I've tried both the full coverage screen protector and the standard cheap tempered glass that doesn't provide full coverage - and I'm a bit torn. I am currently using a full coverage screen protector and it's giving me trouble - the top left corner lifts up slightly sometimes which means touches don't work all the time (its very snug against my tough case) and it blocks the view of the navigation keys to an extent (yes, I aligned it the best I could).
That said, the regular tempered glass does not give full coverage, but it does seem better so far for day to day use.
Hmm! I'll try a couple more and see if I can find something I really like.

Also light sensor "hole" is slightly closer to the speaker on RMN4X.

Another update. I decided that the full coverage screen protectors are not worth it. The adhesive on mine is failing already. I'll stick to the standard screen protectors I think.

Uh... The standard glass covers some of the bezel, just not all

I use this one. They sell both sd and mtk version.

I'm using the sd version which is name as note 4x on the website.

I reviewed SD and MTK versions in here, full of physical differences. That would help to make right accessories.

We can find tempered glass curved for devices like the Xiaomi Note 2...
So why not for MI5S Plus ?

The curve on Mi Note 2 is very large, but only on the sides, it's called 3D glass, IIRC.
Mi 5s/Plus just add slight curve to all sides, which often called 2.5D glass.
Or maybe they are simply not out yet, the mobile is only around 3 or 4 weeks on the market so far.
I never have screen protector on previous phones only good case for now will keep this ugly one if i don't find something good will take it out...

I know for a fact that the iPhone 6 has tempered glass protectors that cover the entire screen. I installed one for a friend and it looks indistinguishable from a screen without a cover (the parts of the protector that cover the bezels are already coloured in). Only problem is, since it makes the screen slightly thicker, some tight phone cases no longer fit.
This one for the Mi 5S looks just like the one I installed for my friend's iPhone 6. I have ordered it and will report back if it does indeed cover the whole screen. Otherwise, there is also this one which I will try if the first one doesn't fit well.

I received the first protector I mentioned but I still haven't received the phone yet :silly: Hopefully it will arrive in a week or so and then I can let you know for sure how it is. My initial impression is that it won't cover the whole screen, or at least, it will not curve over the 2.5D part because there is almost no curve on this protector. It certainly looks big enough to cover the entire screen judging by the thickness of the bezel area so I'm not sure how it's going to work. The curve is definitely a lot less than the protector I installed for my friend on his iPhone 6.
Anyway, I'll keep you posted. Good thing is, it was distributed by Amazon so I can definitely get a refund

Sorry for the late reply. I did finally receive the screen protectors. Long story short, neither of them cover the 2.5D portion of the screen unfortunately. I will say though that they probably cover closest to the edge than any of the other screen protectors I've seen. There is also a benefit to not covering the 2.5D portion. As I said earlier, I got a friend of mine a 2.5D tempered glass protector for his iPhone (you can see it here) and even though it covered the entire screen to the point that you wouldn't be able to tell that there is a screen protector on there, it made it almost impossible to put on a case. Every case he tried were really tight and ended up pinching the protector so that an air bubble would always form near the middle of the screen. It wasn't a problem with the installation because the bubble never appeared with the case off. This doesn't happen with the two protectors I bought for the Mi 5S. As you can see from the screenshot, the protector ends just before it makes contact with the case and it's the same with two other case designs that I've tried.
If you do plan on picking up one of these, I recommend the one from Ultimate Shield (ebay link, not amazon) because the Anzhao one was not very good quality. All the cutouts for the home button, earpiece, capacitive buttons etc. fitted perfectly but there were already some minor scratches and tiny dents when it arrived.
Lastly, I will say that I am starting to think that maybe a normal screen protector would be better for the Mi 5S. Because of the little dent for the home button, adding an extra layer of glass on top of the original screen makes it a little more difficult to reach the fingerprint sensor. Maybe a thinner plastic film would work better.

thanks for good review and _REAL_ photos of the case. I was trying to buy something decent on ebay and ended up sending back 3 different cases that looked not even close to what was on the original pictures.

Invisible shield zagg

Trying to find a screen protector that actually works I came across Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. This particular brand is flexible and covers the screen very well. More importantly on Amazon these are going for 2.19 or something like that because if you're buying open box items you're saving a ton of money and of course if you don't like the way it fits you are not out much money. To say the least after I botched the installation of the first one I ordered two more because I really think I'm onto something for the front. For the back it does not fit very well.

Is it properly fit to Mi Note 2 screen from edge to edge? No cutting at all?
What about sensors and front camera? Is it covers by the film or remain naiked?
Fits well top to bottom, covers edge to edge well, doesn't cover sensors. Align to sensors and home button for installation. SPRAY water mist on the back of the protector because you may need to slide it. You WILL need that water to squeeze the bubbles out, if not the bubbles WILL be trapped.
The cut on the corners is a couple of mm smaller where this protector will leave the screen uncovered, but those areas are neither touched nor essentially needed covered. Furthermore after installation even the lines are invisible.
I'd post a photo but I've sold the device.
Screen being curved there's not a lot of options, curved glass reduces sensitivity. I found this a good quality.

Hurray! The soft silicone film - probably the only acceptable decision for Mi Note 2. I wonder, why Zagg, Bronto, Spigen etc. don't make protective films for Mi Note 2?

Pls try the open box items first so you're not out much if you don't like the fit

i'm still thinking of it. my biggest concern is if it will fit with a case
https://www.honorbuy.com/1065-redmi...otection-tempered-glass-screen-protector.html i have this one (looks like the one you wanna buy). so far so good, it covers the whole screen. the black area has some sort of adhesive that takes care of the 2.5D area near the edges. touch works great on the buttons bar too (doesn't feel as well as the original screen but good enough) the screen colors/contrast are a bit worse, but you can adjust for that from settings.
it's not gonna be as good as without the protector, none of them are gonna works as well as the original screen, but if you don't like it, can't adjust to it you can always take it off.
edit: aaand 10 days later the protector cracked/broke on the buttons cover part. had to take it down.
markw is a cheap phone, and with ugly white upper and down sides, i think it is better use it without any glass.

if you can see the tempered glass got border around it. Actually perfectly match with Redmi 4 prime screen 5" but it would look kinda weird and made me feel unsatisfied due it covered original phone border. Same problem with http://www.gearbest.com/screen-protectors/pp_591930.html - the border of the tempered glass is covering like 0.5mm of each side of the screen. I made me crazy , I had to tear it off.
just got this one and find it looks better due to lack of visible gaps around edges due to 2.5d screen. Found previously screen protectors cracked easily for the same reason, found this causes the capacitive buttons at the bottom of the screen to be less responsive which is a bit annoying, will report back when had it on longer than a weekend.
I originally ordered a screen protector for mine from Ebay since I got the phone pre-launch. That screen protector was excellent, it had no borders and just worked a treat. It was completely clear and the only issue I had was on the edges. It didnt make full contact. Over time it eventually got a small crack and that was the end of the it. It lasted approx 4-6 months though.
My wife on the other hand got that one you linked (with the borders) from Gearbest and it was so bad I just asked for a refund. The border was actually smaller than the screen and it was just really bad. Do not get one with a border. Dont do it!

Just ordered two, as the borderless I ordered the last time broke when I tried to remove the protective film
I'm a little late but to add my experience to that.
I had such a black color frame.
+ it looks nice
+ perfectly fits
I was not satisfied
--- the adhesive is only on the periphery under the color
--- when you knock, it floats, because the transparent part is in the air
--- Some models do not see bottom-buttons at all
Total failure.
hello.please someone suggest me a good t.glass that is antioil and fingerprints free.I tryied asling t.glass but phone gets so dirty from fingers that in daylight is almost impossible to see the screen!also it has to be 1-2mm smaller to fit perfect..thanks!
I don't see any t-glass that'll fit, I only use TPU films. They r a bit flexible and often labeled as anti-break, nano explosion...etc. They can cover almost the edge (mybe only 1-2mm from the end side of the screen, abt the inner bezel of the side screen)

Try searching for "nano film" or "anti-explosion" and TPU films for Redmi 4 Prime. Nano liquid will work too but only protects from scratches, doesn't protect from LCD breakage. It's abt US $5+ in my local market and they mostly will specify its full coverage, which is NOT possible for ANY tempered glass

Tempered glass screen protector for Xiaomi Mi 6

Did you guys have any luck with screen protectors?
I purchased 2 on gearbest (transparent ones, not the ones with tinted bezels) and they look horrible, all the bezels and around the home button... it looks unsticked due to the slight glass curvature. I'll upload pictures once I can.
I had the same and threw them away 1 minute after installation because they didn't stick near the edges...
So I ordered these on Ali Express. They fit quite well but don't really 'stick' the same way as the thicker ones do on a perfect flat screen so there is a way dust can get under that screen protector...

Thanks! It appears there isn't the ugly edges because it is smaller than the curved parts, but coupled with a good "all around" bumper case, that should suffice...
i use a non brand, from Chinese, tempered glass.
but it's 3D, edge to edge, curved tempered glass, covers fully until the metal sides
it even works perfectly with a case, full protection till the edge of the case
not sure if it can be found outside my country though, since its a no brand thing

Hi, I would love to see a pic!
Also how is the glare on it?
It seems strange that high quality screen protectors that cover the whole mi 6 screen are so hard to come by. The ones with the coloured edges are sufficient to cover up the defects around the edges but I find the glare on them terrible.

Nice glass protector.
I'm using the Nillkin and it's pretty good also.
i use a non brand, from Chinese, tempered glass.
but it's 3D, edge to edge, curved tempered glass, covers fully until the metal sides
it even works perfectly with a case, full protection till the edge of the case
not sure if it can be found outside my country though, since its a no brand thing
can post a pic if you guys want to see

Greetings.
I have a Kapaver solid case, specifically this ...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071...s=Case+mi6&dpPl=1&dpID=51MwFWjHV3L&ref=plSrch
The case alone I recommend, the touch of the case and the design seems excellent, and gives a very good feeling of protection of the casing, the problem arises when I supplement it with a tempered glass screen protector brand SMTR that I purchased, in particular this ...
https://www.amazon.es/Protector-Pant...X76P4DZ0K67DWZ
The tempered glass soon after putting the case up, I tried with the 2 crystals that are included, and both are detached. They do not seem to detach on their own, but when they put the case on, they leverage and raise them.
My question is:
With a protector that protects curved edges may not happen to me?
What protector do you recommend me with a rigid case like the one I have?
Thanks in advance.

I think my screen protector wouldn't fit with your case, since the lips of your case is far more towards the screen, my case's lips is shorter, just barely towards the screen
Hi, I have same screen protector as ZackFF96.
It can be bought from AliExpress, this is the exact one I purchased:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3D-...rved-Edge-Frosted-Protective/32828496451.html
You can find more listings if you search "mi 6 4d glass".
Just make sure it has a similar style plastic backing on the screen protector. This is the only type of glass screen protector I have found to be full cover and full glue on back of glass.
This type of glass screen protector goes almost to the edge of screen, it leaves about 0.25mm of glass around the edge. It also covers about 0.25mm of the sides of the screen, only noticeable in apps which have lines going down the very side of the screen.
I use this case and it fits perfectly with the glass screen protector.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For...-and-Silicone-Back-Cover-for/32688209331.html
Compatible with pretty much all cases, I think only the very bulky cases like wooden or big armour cases will not fit. You will need to have the screen protector applied almost perfect though, if too much to one side or corner the case will foul on the glass.

Accessories Tempered glass screen protector

Hello,
i am searching for a good tempered glass protection.
Any recommendations?
The ones for the regular mi 11 should be ok for the ultra as well.
Look for the big brands and check reviews.
I saw some recent ones that some glass screen protectors can mess up with the touch responsivity ( not adhering to the screen completely ) so be carefull
Good luck !
The best ones are full glue, also known as UV Tempered Glass. I don't know if the third-party companies are releasing one, but I hope they do.
White stone dome is one if the best.
Got my case and screen protector from here. Very good quality and fast shipping.
Search - Mi 11 ultra

Yes, I'm using them for a couple of years. If you remove them, there will be no problem.
Wipe, if there will be any residue, with some alcool or window cleaner and all is fine. Won't affect your display in any way.
I want to warn you guys about nillkin. Their 3d max ds+ protective glass noticeably deteriorates the touch sensitivity.

None of them work great on curved screens imo
I'd rather use it without any
Search for UV tempered glass screen protectors. Finicky to install but its the best for curved display phones.
The best ones are with UV, I have one from ebay and the finger print works 100% and the touch is almost the same. Any UV screen protector will do good. Try finding the full screen ones. I have this one and for 18e, you get 2 packs.

I use Gorilla IQ Sheild on my Note 10+.
It's a easy wet apply that lasts 6-12 months.
Coming up on 2 years, with zero damage.
The case provides most of the phone protection; make sure the case has raised display guards on all sides! I've been using the Zizo Bolt case.
It will absorb multiple 2-4 foot drops on to concrete with no damage... tested, by accidents.
