Film protector for display - Honor 8 Pro Accessories

Hi, Would you recommend a compatible film with a slightly curved screen that completely covers the display but does not hang on the sides?

Hi,
You might have already bought a good film, if not then a word of warning, I bought this from Amazon.de (can't link so....):
MaxKu Huawei Honor 8 Pro / Honor V9 Schutzfolie, [2 Stück] Glasfolie Hartglas 9H Hardness Panzerglas Displayschutz Anti-Kratz Displayschutz für Huawei Honor 8 Pro / Honor V9 (~8 euro).
... And I can tell you, it was like a millimetre to small on the sides, so completely useless.

looks like it's tempered glass?
iinm, unlikely to find a tempered glass that can cover the sides completely due to the 2.5D curve. if you can find, there's a good chance that the glue is only on the sides, which will give u other issues.
but it should still cover the display area right (i mean where there are pixels)?

Didn't bother with a return, didn't cost that much. And yeah, it was tempered class and it didn't even cover the screen (where the pixels are)... Had a nice typo on the box too, said "Protection of God"

Yes it's a film rather than glass. It's hard to get full protection in tempered glass with a curved edge screen.

Gorilla Glass 3 is already scratched proof. But if you don't apply screen protection, there is a chance the oleophobic coating will fade. It's very easy to apply. Just give it a few drops and wipe it to spread.

Not sure if this is available in all countries but I am using https://www.gadgetshieldz.com/honor-8-pro-screen-protectors-covers-cases.html on my Honor 8 Pro since day one. I have used this for all my devices in the past 4-5 years.

As most of us would have realised, not really possible to get a tempered glass that will cover whole screen and not lift as the edges of this phone is curved 2.5D screen).
So i know some have resorted to just using film SP. I'm one of them. There is one recommended by another honor 8 Pro user. it's called X-One. link here:
https://www.x-one.asia/product/x-on...r-screen-protector-for-huawei/?v=7516fd43adaa
You can also find it on Amazon, etc... Depending on where you live.
I am currently using one called Hardwear. I was told it's actually the same as X-One -- Just a different name.
The film is clear and does not distort/ degrade the display. Cut out is a bit rough though. It does not cover the whole screen and what i noticed, there is still like 0.5mm on both sides of the display area that is not covered (display here means the part of the screen that lights up).
This is how it looks with generic clear case. Notice the cutout at the top -- it feels like a sloppy job. You can see towards the top... that little bit of the display area that is not covered. this is not because the SP was applied towards one side. it's applied very nicely...

The other side... Now with Ringke case
But still, I'm generally happy with the SP. It was better than the free tempered glass (TG) I was using. This TG had glue only at the sides and it was "masked" by having the ugly coloured borders. this TG didn't go well with the Ringke case -- the case lifted the TG. and what is worse... it came with tinted glass which was of poor quality and affected the screen quality. i had eye strains while using my phone. Dear Panicos,
We have changes regarding CP+ today evening, the production department
notified us regarding editing the mold of CP+ for Oneplus 3, it'll be
available in 3-5 days.
Sadly we can't exactly tell what's going to be modified.
We can send you TPU case in separated parcel for now and if you're OK to
wait the result of reissued CP+, we can send it later or refund later.
There are also an option of H+ Pro glass (it's transparent).
Thanks for understanding and awaiting your reply,
Nillkin.org team
i was just looking at ordering this one as well...
i wonder if the black edges cover actual display space like the OnePlus official one.
Clickable Link
noticed that this same screen protector is a bit cheaper on eBay...
I have order from there site just to be sure that is the real one and if i have a problem i will deal with directly. About the display space they claim that is a perfect fit ,in anycase is much cheaper than the official and any other TG out there that cover the all screen and the adhesive is in the whole screen protector how worst it could be.
For me the equation is easy to explain with this new protector: screen with all curved edges + flat* tempered glass above = bad combination.
*The new versión, like the older, both are completely flat.
When, in his first tempered glass, they consider as "normal" the halo effect due to the curvatures of the screen ... that's not normal.
The only who fits to the characteristics of the screen is the official of OnePlus and it is because it is made in two parts integrated in one piece, tempered glass flat and a curved frame (not glass) that adapts to curved parts from the screen. For this reason it is more expensive (there are others more expensive and worse, like RhinoShield $24.99), is like to buy two protectors. The problem with the official of OnePlus is you will lose 0.9 millimeters on the sides of the screen.
So, after having spent a lot of money in bad protectors, expensive and cheap, of premium brands and unknown ones (including the first Nillkin, I consider a great brand) I think by now I can live with the limitations of the official of OnePlus, by the way, it fits like a glove.
Any advise of a good screen protector?
I got the same udpate from nillkin, 3-5 days of delay. I hope it's good, will report once I will receive it.
One of the local resellers here in ph got it. I'll be getting 1 next week.

The 2.5D one works fine with cases, but be aware that the H Pro series do not stick well on the edges, if you read the end of the item descriptions you will see that they specify this. I ended up taking it off, because it looked bad, but every case I had worked fine.
The CP+ does not have this issue from what I see.

The curve on Mi Note 2 is very large, but only on the sides, it's called 3D glass, IIRC.
Mi 5s/Plus just add slight curve to all sides, which often called 2.5D glass.
Or maybe they are simply not out yet, the mobile is only around 3 or 4 weeks on the market so far.
I never have screen protector on previous phones only good case for now will keep this ugly one if i don't find something good will take it out...

I know for a fact that the iPhone 6 has tempered glass protectors that cover the entire screen. I installed one for a friend and it looks indistinguishable from a screen without a cover (the parts of the protector that cover the bezels are already coloured in). Only problem is, since it makes the screen slightly thicker, some tight phone cases no longer fit.
This one for the Mi 5S looks just like the one I installed for my friend's iPhone 6. I have ordered it and will report back if it does indeed cover the whole screen. Otherwise, there is also this one which I will try if the first one doesn't fit well.

I received the first protector I mentioned but I still haven't received the phone yet :silly: Hopefully it will arrive in a week or so and then I can let you know for sure how it is. My initial impression is that it won't cover the whole screen, or at least, it will not curve over the 2.5D part because there is almost no curve on this protector. It certainly looks big enough to cover the entire screen judging by the thickness of the bezel area so I'm not sure how it's going to work. The curve is definitely a lot less than the protector I installed for my friend on his iPhone 6.
Anyway, I'll keep you posted. Good thing is, it was distributed by Amazon so I can definitely get a refund

Sorry for the late reply. I did finally receive the screen protectors. Long story short, neither of them cover the 2.5D portion of the screen unfortunately. I will say though that they probably cover closest to the edge than any of the other screen protectors I've seen. There is also a benefit to not covering the 2.5D portion. As I said earlier, I got a friend of mine a 2.5D tempered glass protector for his iPhone (you can see it here) and even though it covered the entire screen to the point that you wouldn't be able to tell that there is a screen protector on there, it made it almost impossible to put on a case. Every case he tried were really tight and ended up pinching the protector so that an air bubble would always form near the middle of the screen. It wasn't a problem with the installation because the bubble never appeared with the case off. This doesn't happen with the two protectors I bought for the Mi 5S. As you can see from the screenshot, the protector ends just before it makes contact with the case and it's the same with two other case designs that I've tried.
If you do plan on picking up one of these, I recommend the one from Ultimate Shield (ebay link, not amazon) because the Anzhao one was not very good quality. All the cutouts for the home button, earpiece, capacitive buttons etc. fitted perfectly but there were already some minor scratches and tiny dents when it arrived.
Lastly, I will say that I am starting to think that maybe a normal screen protector would be better for the Mi 5S. Because of the little dent for the home button, adding an extra layer of glass on top of the original screen makes it a little more difficult to reach the fingerprint sensor. Maybe a thinner plastic film would work better.

Tempered glass screen protector for Xiaomi Mi 6

Did you guys have any luck with screen protectors?
I purchased 2 on gearbest (transparent ones, not the ones with tinted bezels) and they look horrible, all the bezels and around the home button... it looks unsticked due to the slight glass curvature. I'll upload pictures once I can.
I had the same and threw them away 1 minute after installation because they didn't stick near the edges...
So I ordered these on Ali Express. They fit quite well but don't really 'stick' the same way as the thicker ones do on a perfect flat screen so there is a way dust can get under that screen protector...

Thanks! It appears there isn't the ugly edges because it is smaller than the curved parts, but coupled with a good "all around" bumper case, that should suffice...
i use a non brand, from Chinese, tempered glass.
but it's 3D, edge to edge, curved tempered glass, covers fully until the metal sides
it even works perfectly with a case, full protection till the edge of the case

Hi, I would love to see a pic!
Also how is the glare on it?
It seems strange that high quality screen protectors that cover the whole mi 6 screen are so hard to come by. The ones with the coloured edges are sufficient to cover up the defects around the edges but I find the glare on them terrible.

Greetings.
I have a Kapaver solid case, specifically this ...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071...s=Case+mi6&dpPl=1&dpID=51MwFWjHV3L&ref=plSrch
The case alone I recommend, the touch of the case and the design seems excellent, and gives a very good feeling of protection of the casing, the problem arises when I supplement it with a tempered glass screen protector brand SMTR that I purchased, in particular this ...
https://www.amazon.es/Protector-Pant...X76P4DZ0K67DWZ
The tempered glass soon after putting the case up, I tried with the 2 crystals that are included, and both are detached. They do not seem to detach on their own, but when they put the case on, they leverage and raise them.
My question is:
With a protector that protects curved edges may not happen to me?
What protector do you recommend me with a rigid case like the one I have?
Thanks in advance.

Greetings.
I have a Kapaver solid case, specifically this ...

The case alone I recommend, the touch of the case and the design seems excellent, and gives a very good feeling of protection of the casing, the problem arises when I supplement it with a tempered glass screen protector brand SMTR that I purchased, in particular this ...

I think my screen protector wouldn't fit with your case, since the lips of your case is far more towards the screen, my case's lips is shorter, just barely towards the screen
Hi, I have same screen protector as ZackFF96.
It can be bought from AliExpress, this is the exact one I purchased:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3D-...rved-Edge-Frosted-Protective/32828496451.html
You can find more listings if you search "mi 6 4d glass".
Just make sure it has a similar style plastic backing on the screen protector. This is the only type of glass screen protector I have found to be full cover and full glue on back of glass.
This type of glass screen protector goes almost to the edge of screen, it leaves about 0.25mm of glass around the edge. It also covers about 0.25mm of the sides of the screen, only noticeable in apps which have lines going down the very side of the screen.
I use this case and it fits perfectly with the glass screen protector.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For...-and-Silicone-Back-Cover-for/32688209331.html
Compatible with pretty much all cases, I think only the very bulky cases like wooden or big armour cases will not fit. You will need to have the screen protector applied almost perfect though, if too much to one side or corner the case will foul on the glass.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Tempered Glass Screen Protectors

Im a fan of totally clear tempered glass screen protectors, but all too often they have colouring on them.
One seller I've seen on ebay who is doing a completely clear one:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162634872550
One with coloured parts on Amazon UK:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Galaxy-Note-Vigeer-Bubble-Free-Installation/dp/B074C4KX3G
Another on Amazon UK with coloured parts, different design:

Surely whitestone is going to be the one to get again?

I contacted Whitestone. They said the domed glass should be released early September so we could have them before the release date (If the release date is actually Sept 15th).
I really like it on my S8+. A little thick, but no lack of responsiveness. Only other complaint is that dusk collects along the edge of it.
I will be waiting a bit before ordering one
Going with this one for now: https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Co...83391&sr=8-3&keywords=note+8+screen+protector
I have had pretty good luck with this company for a while.
I'd try out the tempered glass protectors but not for retail price. Hopefully they do better than what is available for the S8+.

been looking at this one too. I typically do not use screen protectors but will on the Note 8. Can you tell me how well these work with cases?
Thanks

I havent been able to find a glass screen protector that would work with a case. The other problem is that these screen protectors only stick to the edges of the phone.... If there was a flat screen option I would have bought that..............
Yes, I'm worried about using a tempered glass screen and a case.

Doesn't look case-friendly
I used one from Armoursuit on my note 7 and liked it enough to put it on my s7e. Unfortunately they won't have any until the 15th. I order one similar and a tempered glass. Figure I'll try them both. Supposedly case friendly

How are Armoursuit's screen protectors? Are they stylus-friendly?

I saw that, they say due in stock in 3 to 5 days. I guess they ship from the UK though, because they said shipping to the US takes 10 to 14 days.
I'm hoping Amazon will get them in at the same time Mobile Fun does. Then I should have it in two days
Does anybody have a recommendation for a relatively inexpensive, but potentially "good" case-friendly glass screen protector?
Obviously, with nobody yet having the devices themselves, it's going to be difficult to assess whether fit, etc, is good, but if anybody has experience of a brand/manufacturer that has done good things on other devices with non-flat screens, then that could be useful to know - I don't plan to use my Note 8 without some protection, and I've always found plastic protectors to be poor with regard to feel and their oleophobic properties, and often attract dust.
I'm thinking I'll get something that will more than likely be cheap, but reasonably performing, until such time as there are reviews of different protector models with experience of being used on the Note 8 before committing myself to a bigger purchase, such as a Zagg or a Whitestone.
I think the only logical screen protector will be those ones that are similar to paint protection film applied on cars. I put one on my wifes S8, didnt look too bad, Used a bit of heat from the hairdryer.

Plastic protectors seem to fall into two categories; stretchy "military grade" stuff which can be a bit "orange peely" and grippy to the touch, and a film which seems to offer less protection, but suffer from finger prints.
Best plastic I've seen is the iCarez on the Note 4, which gave good protection and feel, but was a bit of a dust magnet.
I'll be getting a Skinomi Tech Glass tempered screen protector when they're available. Had them on the Note 2 and Note 5 and on the Tab S 8.4. Haven't disappointed me yet.
Tempered glasses don't fit right on curved edges and you have to touch screen harder for it to respond

Accessories Tempered glass screen protector

Hello,
i am searching for a good tempered glass protection.
Any recommendations?
The ones for the regular mi 11 should be ok for the ultra as well.
Look for the big brands and check reviews.
I saw some recent ones that some glass screen protectors can mess up with the touch responsivity ( not adhering to the screen completely ) so be carefull
Good luck !
The best ones are full glue, also known as UV Tempered Glass. I don't know if the third-party companies are releasing one, but I hope they do.
White stone dome is one if the best.
Got my case and screen protector from here. Very good quality and fast shipping.

Yes, I'm using them for a couple of years. If you remove them, there will be no problem.
Wipe, if there will be any residue, with some alcool or window cleaner and all is fine. Won't affect your display in any way.
I want to warn you guys about nillkin. Their 3d max ds+ protective glass noticeably deteriorates the touch sensitivity.

I used this one it's amazing love it it's better protected now
None of them work great on curved screens imo
I'd rather use it without any
Search for UV tempered glass screen protectors. Finicky to install but its the best for curved display phones.
The best ones are with UV, I have one from ebay and the finger print works 100% and the touch is almost the same. Any UV screen protector will do good. Try finding the full screen ones. I have this one and for 18e, you get 2 packs.

I use Gorilla IQ Sheild on my Note 10+.
It's a easy wet apply that lasts 6-12 months.
Coming up on 2 years, with zero damage.
The case provides most of the phone protection; make sure the case has raised display guards on all sides! I've been using the Zizo Bolt case.
It will absorb multiple 2-4 foot drops on to concrete with no damage... tested, by accidents.
