Can a T-Mobile S8 be flashed to a Verizon? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions & Answers

I think I remember reading at some point about either a T-mobile or Verizon being flashed to the other... is it possible to go from T-Mobile to Verizon?

I would like to know as well. I just unlocked my TMO S8 and looking to take it to Verizon or ATT

Both you and OP should look at the thread EndBoot + Root. I have instructions in it.

[Q] Anyone working on unlock/root/S-OFF/Whatever for the Verizon variety?

Nobody's really talking about the Verizon edition. Any developers out there with phone in hand yet?
More than likely whatever will work for the AT&T variety will also work on the VZW one, but since more people have the AT&T one already, it has more chance of getting it first.

I wonder if that's true. The AT&T One is unlocked, but there is a multi-thousand dollar bounty for the Verizon version. I think the S4 is up to $4k on verizon and also unlocked on AT&T.

How can you wonder if that's true? AT&T bootloader is not unlocked by the way, also what does the S4 have to do with the MOTO X? That's why I Huh?

Ok, again...The AT&T version of the HTC One is unlocked and exploited, but the Verizon version is not.
The Samsung S4 is unlocked and rooted on AT&T, but the Verizon S4 is not, and the bounty on that is over $4k now...if it were so easy to unlock a Verizon model when you can unlock another carrier model, I'm sure someone would have claimed the bounty by now.
So, again, I said I'm not sure if the exploit for the AT&T X will work on the Verizon X, and the same people will not be working on both versions, more than likely, they'll be working on carrier specific models...which is why I said I wonder if that will hold true.

AT&T Note 3 SM-N900A on T-M network issues?

Hello everyone, based on extremely poor ATT coverage in my area comparing to T-M I plan to purchase AT&T Note 3 SM-N900A, unlock it and use with T-M SIM card.
Would I face any issues in terms of unlocking and data coverage?

Soooo.... why would you want to buy a N900A. I feel like we are missing some piece of info. What about getting the N900T and having the best of both worlds. The modem on the N900A is more restricted than the Tmobile version (surprise surprise).

Really? I'm glad I asked prior to spending the $$$
Other than the firmware the phones are identical, correct?
Right now I borrowed Note 2 AT&T SGH-I317 and it seems (to me) to work OK on T-Mobile.
Yes, the Note 2 was one of the last phones before ATT went crazy and started locking down everything. You could enable the AWS bands of tmobile on the ATT note 2. Here is a guide for the N900T if you go that route. Many of us are doing it. You can use it on either carrier. If you are going to use tmobile you might as well use the wifi calling also. It's free and only on the N900T.

I know. My point is that the N900T works perfectly on ATT and Tmobile. It works on both carriers and is the most up to date. The N900T has had J7 for a week where the ATT model just is now getting J5. The carrier specific features like wifi calling are not on the N900A.
Also if you read in that thread I list the fcc bands that are active on the N900A compared to the N900T. They are more restricted than the Tmobile version.

att sim in n900t? HSPA+&LTE?
Sorry for barging in just a quick question and this thread seems to be the most logical place to ask. Anyway, I have AT&T and just got the Note 3 n900a. If i got a T-Mobile version n900t and put my AT&T Sim in it if i unlock it, will i be able to use it with AT&T's data like hspa+ and LTE or will i just be limited to EDGE. Only reason i ask is because like you say AT&T is going nuts with locking everything down and Im sure its going to be a pain in the a** for the Devs to unlock the bootloader so we can (when it comes) flash custom recoveries and roms. Just like with my att galaxy s4. I was happily rooted and at the time i didnt flash a rom yet i was waiting to find one i like. (mind you i was on the MDL build) and as forgetful as i am just being stock rooted i never froze the samsung software update and it updated to MF3 build and wasnt able to fash a recovery. so i unrooted, reset flash counter and did a warranty exchange and was lucky to get one on still on the MDL build. the second i got that i rooted flashed CWM recovery and flashed a custom rom so it wouldnt update on me. I just dont want the same situation for when the devs unlock the bootloader and get a flash able recovery so just thinking maybe a tmobile note 3 with my att sim may be the way to go to avoid that. lol Not like the note 3 needs any custom rom with the beast of a phone it is but sometimes i like to switch up and use stock/aosp android.
Thanks and sorry for the paragraph here and my apologies if i asked in the wrong spot,
Dave

Haven't seen anything yet, but if T-Mobile's history is any consolation, it should come unlocked. Almost all their phones are.
We can confidently say "yes" according to the past records.

AT&T yes, see my sig.
Verizon?? Well, VZW is CDMA and TMO is GSM. So it won't work on VZW unless the phone is dual GSM and CDMA.
Non locked bootloader
I called samsung today and spoke with a lady and she said that T-mobile has no plans of locking the bootloaders nor does samsung, and that locking bootloaders is solely on the carrier. So, I assume, we can have free reign over our bad a$$ note 4 on T-Mobile... I made the switch to them today from ATT...
I hope the BL is unlocked....I got the z1s and its been damn near depressing to see a device with so much potential be crippled by a locked BL....And its the only reason I'm making the jump to the N4...If the BL is locked on the N4 then I'm opting for the Nexus 6

I see there is a root guide over in TMOB Android Development for root. Doesn't that mean that the boot loader mst be unlocked? I have not tried it yet myself as I was waiting for a SIM unlock and TWRP or CWM first.

no it does not, att and verizon note 3 got root and both had locked bootloaders
We can confirm that Bootloader is unlocked. People have rooted using Chainfire's auto root. Since that method requires an unlocked bootloader, it is 100% confirmed that the bootloader is unlocked.
YAY!!!!

What is the model number of the T Mobile Note 4 that fits this description? Also curious if the Verizon Developer Edition fits this description despite my not being able to find one anywhere.
Does a comprehensive list exist anywhere that shows what USA Carrier branded phones, by make and model, that can and cannot be made to work on carriers which they were not originally branded?

Can a T-Mobile S6 be ported to MetroPCS?

Currently I have Virgin Mobile, and I've been stuck with the S3 for about 2 years. I want something new and better like the S6 and I can get the T-Mobile variant S6 for cheaper than the MetroPCS, but the question I have is... Can the T-Mobile phone be ported to Metro easily if I switch my carrier to Metro?

Pretty sure the firmware is interchangeable between tmobile and metropcs s6. Tmobile people have been flashing metro pcs firmware to use unlock codes. Do some forum searching just to verify.

Unlocked Note 9 SM-N960U1 Doesn't work on any network

I purchased an unlocked Note 9 and all the networks tell me it won't work on any of theirs. AT&T, US Cellular, Verizon, Net10 all say no. I put my AT&T sim in and it works with low signal. Why would it not work? How do I figure out where this phone originated? I suspect Sprint because any phone from Sprint only works on Sprint.

Go to this site and run the IMEI. It will tell you if it's actually a U1 model or if it's a carrier model.
http://imeipro.info/samsung_imei_check.html
Whichever it is, you can just flash the ATT firmware, and it will work perfect on ATT. All the N960U and U1s are identical. Just different firmware.

So if you got it with flash for sprint then maybe you need flash what was originally on this model?
I have the very same model and I just put in my LTE Verizon SIM and it worked right away.
This model is a boot locked, carrier unlocked, world band snapdragon version, that was never originally touched by any carrier.

I flashed AT&T but cannot get wifi calling. I ordered an AT&T one through Samsung last night. I'll return this one when I get it. The back of this phone says it's an N960U.
I forgot how crappy carriers are. AT&T unlocked my iPhone but no longer recognizes it. So, I can't get wifi calling to work before switching the sim.
Thanks a bunch to everyone for their input and workarounds! Have been out of the loop for a while.

I feel like Wifi calling is just giving my carrier a break.

There's actually a way to get WiFi calling on it working again. Look through the carrier switching threads in the Note 8 forums.
It's why I hate ATT and love T-Mobile. Everything works out of the box on T-Mo.

Well to be fair there will be places where signal will be weak or non and then you will be the one loosing.
They don't look at break is just way for the customers to get better signal every where they go or inside whatever tipe of building...

I also purchased an unlocked Note 9 on ebay. In "about phone", the model number is listed as SM-N960U1. On the back of the phone, it's SM-N960U.
The sites that tell you the model with the IMEI number are right, it's a Sprint phone. Samsung customer support said the same thing. However, the Sprint phone and the US unlocked phone share the same FCC ID.
Does that mean, they are the same radio hardware? Is it just the firmware that makes the difference in band capability? If you flashed the US unlocked version of baseband, would it be identical to the US unlocked version? I just want to make double sure!
