Usb type c headphones - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Does usb type c headphones or earphones work with the Huawei P9? I ordered these ones:
http://s.aliexpress.com/ANZbYNVF
but I don't know if they are going to work. There is a person commented that they doesn't work with his P9, it didn't detect them. Could his ones be broken? Has anyone tried usb type c headphones/earphones?

I don' know exactly for P9, but not all smartphones with USB Type-C connectors will support these headphones. Analog audio must be routined in parralel from 3.5mm jack to USB port to work. The headpsones are the same, the signal is the same, only the jack is different and universal. In USB they can active noise cancelation too, because there is a power supply from the port.

I asked in another forum, too and someone told me that he had tried usb c headphones and the phone didn't detect them.

According to this article USB-C headphones work (or at least some do)

Yeah, I've read this, but in the article they say that the headphones are CDLA. Maybe that's why they work.

similar headphones i have don't work on P9 at all

Sound routing to usb (USB to mini Jack issue)

Hello good day to everybody
I'm using a MT3G with no audio Jack. Where I live HTC is a very rare brand. It's not likely to find accessories specific to the brand.
I just purchased a generic USB to minijack cable only to find that it doesn't work. The phone doesn't detect the headphones.
I downloaded somewhere an app called sound route or something like that. It didn't work but I think it's something there.
Do you know about a way to route the sound like, by force through the USB? Command line things or maybe even the manual. I don't know, something
My USB cable has 4 pins.
Thank you for your attention :-D

Android Auto and USB Type C

What are peoples thoughts on the compatibility of new phones with USB Type C and aftermarket head units such as Pioneer? Would it be as simple as getting a new USB Type C wire that plugs into the USB on the head unit? Or do you think it will bork the whole system and we'll have to wait for neither Google or Pioneer to issue and update?
USB-C is fully backwards compatible, because of this I don't foresee any issues?

It should work just fine. You could probably just get a cable like this one and call it a day:
https://usb.brando.com/usb-3-1-type-c-male-to-usb-3-0-a-male-cable_p12379c0032d015.html
Using it fine here (Nexus 6p, USB C to USB A cable, pioneer AVH-X8700bt).

I've got a 6P (stock but rooted) and an 8100NEX. It works just fine. It's a USB 3.1 -> USB-C cable and I've had not one issue.
I've also got a nexus 6p stock 6.0.1 using a pioneer AVIC-F77DAB with no issues. I did have an issue at the start using an aftermarket USB-C cable I purchased of ebay but once I switch the cable out to the one I got with the phone it works like a dream

On a related note, it would be nice if the unit supported Quick Charge

I've got a Pioneer 8100NEX and it works fine with the USB-A -> USB-C cable I bought. I've had no issues and it does the "Rapidly Charging" thing. I would assume all of the NEX series do if the 8100 does.
:good:
Ah, thats good to know! I hope the new JBL unit does that too

Sad to hear that.
Tip: buy adapter with D/A chip.
I tried the unit with many different USB audio adapters for laptop through USB C to A adapter cable and all worked.
This one works with all buttons (play/pause/call and volume)

Have you tried the HTC one?
Apparently, the Hidizs Sonata HD is the business although I haven't bought one yet.

Does Asus ROG phone 2 support digital audio via any on its USB Type C ports?

I was just wondering if the phone supports audio out via USB Type C. As the side USB supports variety of devices to be connected. Can a headset be connected to it?
Or can it be enabled somehow?

Wrong, just tried a pair of USB Type C headset with bottom port and my Rog phone 2 recognized the headset directly and gave me headset icon in status bar.
Even side port works as well.
So either your adapter is broken or you got defect Rog phone 2.

I have a fast charge usb c to 3.5mm from amazon that I used to use for my pixel 3 xl.
I just tried it on the asus and it seems to be working fine on the bottom charging port!
I tried with a passive adapter (so no integrated DAC) and it doesn't work.

Yeah Sure. its kind of expensive at $25 though.

I'm sure the e3.5mm to usb-c adapter from the pixel phones will work as well

its out of stock but thank you. pixel one cost 20$ here in india, does the oneplus dongle works with rog 2 ? its 5$ only.
They should all work.
Even the ones without the DAC inside should work as well, as they would use the phones internal DAC I'm guessing. I have a few adapters without DAC's in them, I will test it out tomorrow
There are two types of usb c headphone jacks. My Huawei uses the type that connects to analog pins embedded into the USB c slot. Basically it has the connection for a 3.5 jack but no jack. That connection is routed via the USB c port. This type will not work on all phones. The other type is a true usb c device and that will work on every usb c phones. It gets detected using usb protocol.
So be careful when you buy usb c to 3.5 mm jacks.

I tested Passive USB-C adapter, the one that comes with essential phone, just pluged it in, got headphone icon
i plug my rog phone 2 in mobile desktop dock. my headset using 2.4ghz usb digital surround is supported.
Type c Port not working
I tried one plus Type C to 3.5 mm connector they didn't work

You didn't tell that rog phone 2 works with type c to 3.5 mm jack adaptor ( without doc) you tried or not
It works. Used DD TC-35 hi-fi dac bought from AliExpress. It doesn't show notification that dac is connected. Only thing you can see is a headphone icon in status bar
i used usb type-c to 3.5mm adapter that provided by asus kunai gamepad and it works fine, the phone detect it and automatically showed headset icon.
