Quick charge 3.0 - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hey guys. Just got my mi max 2 with the xiaomi charger but only getting around 1450mAh a hour.. Nowhere near dash charge from one plus 3t (3600mAh).
I use ampere app to measure.. I also tried Aukey certified QC 3.0 charger but also not getting anywhere near 3000 mAh
What charger do you use to achieve quick charge?

I've bought a Anker power port anr cable. I'll test it out soon...
But the 2.5 hour charge with the original charger isn't that. I mean, with such a big battery could of been longer.

QuickCharge 2.0 tests

I bought a few QC2.0 chargers for my AT&T G4:
2-pack Samsung Adaptive Fast Charge AC chargers: .walmart.com/ip/45734981
Tronsmart Dual Car charger: .ebay.com/itm/191645992162
Aliexpress knock-off single QC2.0 car charger: .aliexpress.com/item/Qualcomm-Quick-Charge-2-0-Stand-USB-QC2-0-Car-Charger-for-Samsung-Galaxy-S6-HTC/32364542508.html
..... and compared with the performance of the STOCK LG G4 1.8 Amp (non-QC2.0) charger.
[Note: front end of URLs ( h tt p : w w w.....) left off since newbies like me can not post external links]
I charged my G4 with power OFF, and used Battery Monitor Widget
( play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.bmw )
to measure before and after % remaining,
I "generally" began the charge cycle when the %remaining was low (3-16%, 11% average)
and charged for about an hour (52 minute average)
For each I repeated the test 2-3 times.
Here are the results:
Stock Charger: 1.033 avg, 1.04 max % per minute
Samsung: 1.249 avg, 1.300 max % per minute
Tronsmart: 1.248 avg, 1.290 max % per minute
AliExpress: 1.221 avg, 1.270 max % per minute
So.... even though QC2.0 CLAIMS to charge up to 75% faster, my results were closer to 25% faster
All the QC2.0 chargers were rather consistent in their performance.
I found ambient temperature was an important factor.
The 1st test with the AliExpress was done in a closed car on a 110F day (without AC on)
I got 0.25%/min - but disqualified this result due to the temp extreme
(All other car charger tests were done with car running while driving with AC on)
I'd be interested in seeing if anyone else can test their chargers similarly and post the results here.
I thought QC chargers only quick charged QC compatible devices?
G4
And G4 is QC2.0 compatible, isn't it?

They do. The Qualcomm website claims that G4 is QC 2.0.

I would think testing closer to 70° would be wiser.
I get this spike using my 2.0 charger, it never stays that high for longer than 10seconds.

Que QC 2.0 on the G4 is a joke, it barely doesn't even exist.
I can't even use my quickcharge 2.0 charger. Anyone know why that may be the case? I'm on software version G, the charger works perfectly fine with my note 4 for quick charge but not on the G4... It's a GETWOW qualcomm quick charge 2.0 charger

Your battery is 90% full, is it any different if your battery is lower, like 10%?
My Keedox qc 2.0 is charging my g4 faster than my ex-m9! It can fully charge from 45 to 100% in 30 mins only, it was 50 mins with the m9!!!
No complaints from my Quick Charger
Ive got the uk plug aukey single port quick charge 2.0. Did a timed charge last night 14->48% 25minutes (1.36%/minute), 48->71% 16 minutes (1.44%/minute), 71->92% 19minutes (1.11%/minute) - total time from 14% to 92% one hour (1.3%/min) so about the same as OP test.
With custom kernel we should be able to reach much higher charging rates...on g2 with dorimanx kernel i never saw anything below 1600 and got up to 21xx

Agree. I use aukey QC 2.0 3 port. Using QC 2.0 port, or just the same charging time using stock charger. From 5%-100%, both need time about 105 minute. No different. I sold my aukey.
Aukey using 9v (8.9v exactly) and 5v for stock charging.

Found replacement fast charger (UPDATE 8/10/16)

I took a chance for the fun of it and bought a 15 dollar (at the time of writing this) charger from newegg here and it works perfectly. This post took me about 5 minutes to write and i plugged my Mate 8 in a 43% and now it is at 54%. When it plugs in, it even gives me the Fast Charging notification and says so on the lock screen. Highly recommend it, for USA owners only or you will need a converter plug.
I think you need the original hauwei quick charger to get 9v2.4a "quick charge".
Im using a QC 2.0 which should do 9v2a, but do not get "quick charge" message, and using software, only see up to 1.7ah; however with the original charger; I get 2.6ah.
What I also noticed was the with the original charger its goes up to 2.6ah in bursts (from 1.4 to 2.6ah) and not constant, while the QC 2.0 have constant 1.7ah.
Not sure which is faster. Also some cables don't go above 500mah, and some cables do give "quick charge" message on original charger. Ordered USB voltage tester to test more.
Im also looking for source for cheap oem hauwei charger.
HUAWEI HW-059200CHQ with EU plug: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...L-Charger-adapter-for-Huawei/32668184405.html
Huawei charger with option for EU or US plug.

As long it covers the signed agreement between Huawei (FCP) and Qualcomm QC2.0 to support both standards it should work with our mate 8. It must be a 9V2A , be careful some of those sold on AliExpress may have only one voltage of 5v1a and that won't do any fast charging.

Just got the EU version of this one in, can confirm it's identical to the one that came with my Mate 8 and does proper quick charging.
Amazon Good Replacement Quick Charger
this is compatible for the US..very fast charging..even more so than the original charger the Mate 8 came with..I went from 40% until 67% in just under 15 minutes
so i just got mate 8. as usually everyone need more than one charger. is it true that even a charger with QC 2.0 will not charge our phone as fast as the original charger?
i dont have budget to buy $30 charger - will check ebay later.

this is copy pasted from someone else reply regarding my question of why QC 2 charger is slower than original huawei.
*************
They both have the same power QC 9V x 2A =18W or 12V x 1.5V =18W compared to Huawei 9V 2A =18 Watts
However for the Huawei Mate 8, the only charger that will give you 18W worth of charging power is the Huawei SmartPower charger. Anything else charges it at 10W maximum.
And the Huawei SmartPower charger can only charge other devices at 5V 2A = 10W as well. It only switches up to 9V when it sees a Huawei chip inside the other device.
So it's not 12V 1.5A being 0.5A less than 9V 2.0A - Power is Volts multiplied by Amps.
On that particular phone, if you use a Huawei charger you get 18W. If you use ANY non-Huawei charger, you get 10W.
If the battery capacity is 4000mAh at nominal 3.7V, and the charging circuit is 80% efficient then you need to chuck (4 x 3.7 / 0.8) = 18.5 Watts of power into it to charge it. An 18W charger will do that in just over an hour. A 10W charger will take 1.85 Hours which is almost double the time.
****************
Keep in mind that fast charging wears out the battery more than regular charging. If you have time, use a normal charger with lower current.
Bah, what doesnt wear out a lithium battery? Fast charge on, we can all get replacement batteries for this thing. theyre cheap anyway.

Post your charging time (5v2A, QC3, QC4)

I ordered an A2 and a QC 3 wall charger, I'm considering also a car charger, but seems not that needed.
Please tellme... About your Chargint times (Half/Full) on basic wall 5V2A Chager, and QuickCharge 3.0/4.0 chargers, also on car chargers as well
Also, Does anyone tried an iPad charger?
On QC 2.0/3.0 ? form 10% to 100% - around 1h 10m ( not sure abot QC version but was fast charging icon )
I was measuring charging time with stock charger, here are my results:
Greetings everyone,
I have charged my phone with stock charger that came with it, by the way I have global version. 5V=2A)
After a 30 minutes my phone was at 54% i was surprised with percentage!
After an hour I had 92% of battery charged.
Battery fully charged at 1:13.
I want to ask, how fast would battery charge if I use QC v4.0?
Thank you in advance,
DarkoMiA2, :fingers-crossed: Bosnia

As of now there are no QC 4.0 charger in market... It'll take couple of months before they get on shelves for sales.. Till then use QC 3.0 or stock charger.
PS, or you can buy mi 3i power bank, it has QC 3.0 capabilites and when QC 4.0 chargers hit the market you can buy one of those too..so then you will have a power bank and a QC 4.0 charger...

You can buy the xiaomi 27W QC4 charger it does 27-35W
realme x2 pro has 50W, so something there shud fit
I've tried various chargers but the SOC was >85% so it wasn't a proper test. With most charger (QC or PD) I've gotten 15W, including with my 65W PD laptop charger. With the original charger I got 20-22W. If it's important to check the power, I can wait until it's discharged and redo the tests, which I plan to do anyway.
For travelling, I find it a lot more useful to have the 36W (18W QC + 18W PD?) cheap Amazon charger with 2xUSB-A and 1xUSB-C, which has the same size as the original charger: https://smile.amazon.de/gp/product/B07WFDTJFR/
Let us know how you get on. I tried my Samsung 25w charger, Pixel 3 charger and the Motorola 18w charger. All of them charge at 12-18w only. Stock charger goes to around 27w
I've now tried all the chargers and powerbanks that I have, QC3 or PD. All of them cap out at 16W, even though they can deliver more. I got the original one to charge with 30W (at 60% SOC).
The original charger is marked QC3 but they are probably not following the standard.
From my understanding the Snapdragon 732g has Quick Charge 4+ support doesn't it ?

Yes, i've noticed the same. Around 27w max. Today i was charging my phone and observing the batt temperature. Kinda obvious, but the hotter the battery gets, the lower charging power it will deliver. Here in Brazil the temp this week is being around 36-42°C, so i put the phone over a bar of artificial ice. As the batt temp went under 35°C, the resultant "charging current" went to around 5500-6000mA. Doing the math, it was possible to arrive at the 27w result. (~4,5V x 6 = 27w).
When the batt temp was near 38~39°C, charging was down to 2000-2800mA (resulting to around 10-12w).
I also found something strange, it wasn't able to show the charging percentage with 2 decimals, as shown in this video:

Accessories Xiaomi EU 65W Charger with Mi 11 ultra?

Hey guys has anybody tried other xiaomi chargers with their mi 11 ultra?
Chargers like:
Xiaomi 65w Gan charger (USB c Port)
Xiaomi 65 w charger (USB a port)
Xiaomi 55w Charger
How well did these fare compared to the normal one(possibly with a adapter to actually use it)?
I use 65W Gan because i don't have one in the box.
Available in EU version, so it's perfect for me, and it's a small charger.

Did you check if it actually gives you about 65w?
I use the 65 W Gan charger with USB C port from Xiaomi with my Mi 11Ultra. It supports turbo charging. It takes aprox 45 minutes from 10 - 100 %. I can highly recommend it because it is half of the size of the 67 W charger and almost the same charging speed.

I'm sorry if it sounds silly but did you check with apps like Accubattery how much voltage etc it gives? It should be possible to calculate the watts like that
Hello, i'm using the original 65W xiaomi gan charger Eu version. Model BHR4499GL
I'm very happy with it and accubattery indicates even 10mA charging current, depending on the battery temperature, system load and the charge level of the battery itself.
When the battery is empty ( or bellow 20% or so) it will go to max 10mA from what i've seen and of course drop to around 3-5 mA when it's nearing full capacity.
I never let the battery drop bellow 20% and usually try to unplug the charger until it reaches ~90% but rarely manage to do so because is damn fast .
If i wake up in the morning with around 30-40% charge i plug it in for around 10-15 minutes and it almost reaches 90% maybe even more
I also use a special PD 2.0 usb type C to type C cable from Baesus, model CATKLF-ALG1
"Baseus Type-C Cafule PD2.0 100W flash charging cable (20V 5A) 2m Black (CATKLF-ALG1)"
So it's not only the charger but also the cable that it's important
Take care !
Moreover, the Model BHR4499GL actually supports multiple charging standards than the 67W one that comes in the global unit's box . Plus it's type c so it's easier to find pd charging cables that will work with it
@achimmexico @Jhonxs @sabrewulf I calculated it. The 65w GaN Charger does about 38-39 Watt (i charged from about 10%)
Calculate it yourself if you like.
9810 mA
3.96 volt.
My 11 ultra charges fine with every generic quick charge 3 charger i have but of course better with the 67watt charger that came with it.
Didn't know it got sold without a charger?
I have 65W and 67W charger and there is a difference about 2-3min when charging from 3% until 100%.

This is very strange to hear (read) , as I have a Mi11 Pro and of course use it with the 65W charger, but it takes 55 minutes to go to full. This is extremely frustrating, as 11 Pro should charge in about 36 minutes.

Honestly it always depends on the battery temperatures and all that. Also keep in mind that chargers always have inefficiencies as well. Sometimes the slow charging seems very random. I am using the 67W Charger for instance. Xiaomi's Charging Tech feels either inconsistent or it's just that the battery or charging brick may just are weird with charging them sometimes.

In China they sold it without the charger, but they did give you the option to buy it when you bought your phone and many places now give it as a gift when you buy a new MI 11 Ultra.

Yes you are mostly correct, as I was on a trip for 2 days , charged it there with the SAME charger and it took 34 minutes on the watch to get full. Came back home, 45 minutes.... Very very inconsistent.

Speed differences at two different locations can also point wiring inefficiencies/socket connections in the home. If the charger produced different speeds using same sockets, etc... Then I'm more to say apt to say it's the charger, but with multiple variables...

You need original xiaomi 67w charger and cable to get the Max 67W charging. At first I was getting only Mi Turbo Charge (i bought my Mi 11 ultra used) and after some testing with different cables and chargers I realized that my cable is not original xiaomi cable (maybe it was huawei/honor cable cuz they look almost the same) and I had to buy a new original one. Now I charge at Max 67W speed.
Alright, so 65 one from Xiaomi will not work ?

I don't think you will be able to get 67w charging with a 65w charger. Buy a 67w charger or just use the 65w you have (if the charging speed is OK for you). I decided to buy 67w because it is 3 times faster than Turbo Charge (the difference is huge).
