[OOS 4.5.8] Stock Kernel zip - OnePlus 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Does anyone have just the OOS 4.5.8 Compiled Stock Kernel to flash? All the Kernel Devs tell everyone to flash stock Kernel or Dirty Flash ROM in order to change/update Kernel....or we get problems.
I have yet to see a standalone flashable OOS Stock Kernel around here so everyone is Dirty Flashing ROMs in order to update. Just wondering if we could make this process easier and more efficient for people. Streamline the Custom Kernel flashing process.

How to properly flash kernel+rom?

So, right now im on cf-rooted 2.3.6 jvu, I want to install cm11 nightlies and my question is: its possible to install semaphore kernel with it? (this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786220 ) its intended for kk roms, but are they actually compatible? if affirmative, how I should proceed?
thank in advance

flashing guide for updating form JVU to KK look here . Like they say climb the ladder one step at time, same goes for updating, so proceed after making backups> ICS> JB> KK
If you look at the link you posted it clearly states, the kernel for KK is version 3.4.0
Semaphore <= 2.6.6 for 4.1.2
Semaphore >= 2.8.0 for 4.2
Semaphore >= 3.1.0 for 4.3
Semaphore >= 3.4.0 for 4.4

for flashing kernels you can do it with Odin for .tar files and CWM recovery for .zip files.
Check this out! Links to useful Guides and " Banned " Documentaries
Oh yeah I know how to install cm11, just via CWM and this stuff, but, when I'm already on cm11, i just reboot into recovery and flash the kernel .zip? Or is anything else required (wipes, etc)?
thx

[KERNEL][MK2] Unknownforce's STOCK modded kernel (FLASHABLE)

I needed to put together a flashable MK2 Stock Kernel setup for myself while testing out different ROMS and KERNELS. I always find myself back on unknownforces's stock modded kernel no matter which MK2 ROM I run.
With unknownforce's permission, here is a flashable zip for anyone that wants it.
This is basically the stock MK2 kernel with exfat and init.d support.
Please thank unknownforce for his work here:

A question for you :
unknownforce is using Ktoonsez's Kernel in his ROM (the link you have posted is TriForceROM) , were did you find the unknownforce Kernel ?
Is this the latest rev ?
Thanks.

Unknownforce uses aroma installer when flashing TriForceROM so upon flashing you can choose which kernel you want to run (MK2-stock-modded or KT's kernel)
The zip I have posted above is the stock-modded. If unknown's kernel has been updated at all then I can create a new zip but I wasn't aware it had been. There is really no reason to.

Stock Kernel

I am looking to flash back to a stock kernel because the rooted kernel is giving me reboot issues during phone calls. Does anyone know where I can find the stock Kernel file for the N920W8 (Canadian version)?

Arter97.com kernel will not reboot.
You have to reflash stock firmware without root for stock kernel.

Does arter kernel have root? I didn't see it under list of features. Also is there any lag issues with arter kernel as I saw a couple concerning posts about that?
Thanks for the reply!

Yup lag issues persist but that's the only downside. Only happens every twice a day.
Arter has root.
Reflash stock firmware 100% done

[KERNEL] [STOCK] BeastMode SimplyRoot by freeza [T710] [PB1] [Permissive] [ROOT]

Here is the BeastMode SimplyRoot Kernel by freeza based on the PB1 source.
Many people have been requesting a update stock kernel with the root restriction disabled so here it is. "SimplyRoot"
The only thing in this kernel that is different from Stock is SE Android Permissive.
Important Notes, please read.
PB1 is the latest firmware build for the T710.
The only change in PB1 was and updated Kernel. The Platform (ROM) in PB1 is the same as OJ1.
It is worth mentioning that OL6 also had the same platform as OJ1 and only was an updated Kernel.
So what this shows is that from OJ1 Samsung clearly has been tweaking the Kernel.
Because of this I suggest updating to PB1 to recieve the best battery life and performance.
NOTE: You can flash back and forth between OJ1, OL6, & PB1 as they have the same bootloader so no risk trying any of these firmware.
Thanks!
Big ups to Freeza who took the time out and was the one to make all of this happen.
If you really dig this and are the donating or praising type please direct all credits, thank you(s), and donations to freeza
Features?
-Root Restriction Disabled
-SE Android Permissive

Nobody should need a flashable zip to install a kernel. There is no need to provide multiple formats for flashing.
One great feature of TWRP is it provides image flashing. Extract it from the tar archive and flash away.
Thanks for this. Does anyone have a stock PB1 kernel in case I want to go back? Or, since I did a full TWRP backup before flashing, will that restore my stock kernel (while wiping out everything else)?

Kernel support for CM12.1 for Xperia SP with UBL ?

Hi,
I wanted to install CM12.1 in the 1st place but when I tried to install Tangerine Kernel, I got stuck up and the screen went blank with nothing. So I went on with Williams Kernel + CM11 stable version just to be sure that I don't brick my phone permanently.
I have been browsing through the forum, trying to know which Kernel to be used for CM12.1 ? Helium has versions like L and M which confuses me !
It would be really helpful if you guys clarify my queries,
Can anyone please let me know what Kernel and its version to be used with CM12.1 which is stable for daily use ?
Also can I go with huashan's latest nightly build for CM12.1 dated 2016-04-02?
Also I have another doubt in the installation sequence. After installing a new Kernel.zip from SD card through recovery, should I go ahead and install the ROM.zip at the same time or should I reboot my phone after installing the new Kernel and enter recovery again to install the ROM ?
Please help me understand.
I have unlocked bootloader + Williams Kernel + CM11 stable version currently on my phone.
Thanks in advance.
If you are using a new nightly of cm12.1 don't use tangerine kernel because is outdated. Use helium or the stock one. For helium: M means marshmallow, that's android 6.0.1. You have to use helium L. The l stands for lollipop, Android 5.1.1.
And, if you flash the kernel and then flash the rom zip you will overwrite the kernel, so at the end you won't install anything.
The installation is in the thread but afaik you have to flash first the rom zip and then the kernel.

Thanks @darjwx for the reply . You have mentioned that we need to flash rom.zip followed by the kernel.zip that is needed for the ROM. But how does the old kernel (Williams Kernel in my case) support the new ROM (cm12.1 in my case) ?
As per my understanding, we need a proper Kernel to run the ROM. Is it not like that ? Also ROM and Kernel shares different memory right ?
The rom zip comes with a kernel, so flashing the rom zip will install the new kernel.
Yep you can say that. But it's better to say that they are using different partitions.
