Anyone try Dbrand skins made for the Z Force? - Moto Z2 Force Accessories

I'm really, really digging the upcoming red dragon skin, but Dbrand hasn't made skins for the Z2 series, and I was wondering if the older ones would work. Anyone given it a shot?

I would assume they work.... Our phones' dimensions are the same, no?

Well, the mods fit a bit differently on the newer Zs, they are ever so slightly wobbly, for lack of a better word.

Double checked... it might not work.... dimension is roughly 1mm larger in thickness on the Z2 which means it might be just too big to fit.
https://gadgets.ndtv.com/motorola-moto-z-force-3563 Dimensions (mm) 155.90 x 75.80 x 7.00

That's what I was afraid of... I know Skinomi has some for this phone, but they're honestly boring IMO

They'll fit the back panel just fine, but that's about it.

I have both Z & Z2... they are (obviously) compatible with MODs dimensions, but any cover which extend to sides is *NOT* compatible at all: Z2 Force is thicker, higher & larger...
EDIT: I've just seen skins... Front & Camera ones are surely not compatible.
Back one should go fine, fitting leaving uncovered a bit of border (that is already different on stock Z2)...

Do mods still work and stay on with a skin on back?

I ordered slick wraps and they fit and work. The mod "strip" is a bit different, and the moto logo is off, but they work. I'd order it without the logo cut out. Mods still work with it and hold pretty well.

Official Cases from Asus

The new Asus cases! Sorry if it was posted already.
I see it had already been posted in another thread.
Oh well, at least lazy people (like me) will be able to find the thread in a flash. loll
Man that pink one is bright!
I must say I like that blue though.
these look nice. Liking the blue and the orange...
Question is ... when do they get released? and where do we order them?

Blue looks awesome, i want it
yup! I agree. Blue looks mad awesome. That's what I plan on ordering.
For now, there's no word on them. But I'm guessing they'd be out by the end of July, sold by Asus on the website. If I find any news, I'll make sure to keep you guys posted.
What are they made of? Hard to tell in that picture. Anyone know?

Fake leather? Rubber?
Doesnt look like hard plastic
Maybe it will be made of Corinthian Leather ? lol , all joking asside would love to see them for sale soon so I can get the blue and orange one.
I'm pretty sure they're rubber. All I know is I'm getting one.
it looks very similar to the HP Touchpad's case (the easel one). If so, I'm stoked and can't wait to get one
I like the idea of some kind of leather pouch but I am tempted to get one of these for a change (my phone is in a pouch)
case details
from Asus' site:
"For users who seek additional protection, Nexus 7 has an optional protective smart cover. The smart cover is a tough, yet snug-fitting polymer case with a non-slip matte texture that protects Nexus 7 from bumps and scratches, and also provides additional grip"
Now just need to wait for them to release it in the UK.

As for the case, I'm in for two...shame there's no green though.

Maybe they're using this definition of smart:
a : neat, trim <soldiers in smart uniforms>
b : stylish or elegant in dress or appearance
c (1) : appealing to sophisticated tastes (2) : characteristic of or patronized by fashionable society

This device is THICK !

I watching the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=66-4uMQqerA
and I noticed that Nexus 4 looks seriously thick.. So I googled and well
133.9 x 68.70 x 9.10 mm LG Nexus 4
135.5 x 67.94 x 8.94 mm Galaxy Nexus
134.4 x 69.90 x 8.90 mm HTC One X
136.6 x 70.60 x 8.60 mm Galaxy S 3
128.8 x 58.60 x 7.60 mm iPhone 5
Seriously what were they thinking? I already find my Galaxy Nexus so thick .. this device will feel like holding a Nokia N95 or something. I was really looking forward to this one. I mean amazing phone and price ... but this seriously makes me stop and think about it again.
I think making the phone thinner is important.
What do you guys think?
Are you sure you're going to notice 0.16 mm extra thickness?
If you think this device is thick check thickness and weight of nokia lumia 920
I told you I already feel the Galaxy Nexus is thick. I was looking forward for the next nexus becoming thinner.. 8.94 is not exactly a good thickness already

As a htc one x owner (0.04 difference) I think htc one x is very slim. Maybe its about me because after using nokia n95(+20mm) every phone feels slim to me
Then don't get it.
The added thickness is due to the integrated inductive coil for wireless charging. The Galaxy Nexus was 8.94mm with a 1750mah battery and lacked any kind of wireless charging. Are you telling me that 0.16mm is more important to you than a bigger, 2100mah battery and the ability to wirelessly charge? Seriously, when did 9.1mm become "too" thick?
Not to mention the back is also covered in Gorilla Glass.
9.10 mm thick?? With those extra 0.16 mm I could stick an ace of spades playing card on the back of my Nexus!
Oh wait, that's right, a card is 0.273mm... I suppose adding 58% of a playing card isn't all that much. Chill out man.
While I totally agree complaining about 9.1 mm is more than asinine, it is curious that this is thicker than the Optimus G. I imagine wireless charging probably is to blame.

I think you need more to worry about...
Figures are meaningless untill you feel the real thing in hand.
The S3 is wider than the 1X on paper, but easier fits in my tiny hands.
The 8X is thicker than most smartphone flagships on paper, but feels much better than most of them in hand because of its curling edges...
GOOD!
I bought the extended battery for the Gnex and it feels so much better than with the small one. Adds a little bit weight and makes the back a bit rounder.
If the new one is like this from the beginning then even better.
<insert obligatory "that's what she said" here>

There is no doubt that it is the wireless charging that is the reason for the increase in thickness. It is also partly the reason the Lumia 920 is also thicker at 10.7mm. The dazzling crystalline effect and wireless charging more than make up for the change in 8.45mm vs 9.1mm from the Optimus G to the Nexus 4.

Real black back housing cover

hi guys, I cant understand if real black back cover really exists. Some vendors sells parts where they say the item is black, however you cant tell from photos if the color is real black or normal midnight blue.
Do they really exists? Or we have to manage with dbrand skins or similar to have a black n6?
Thanks for the info

There is no original black battery cover, but they do exist, just not official ones. You can buy them from ebay and so on.
By my experience some of these covers are nearly identical to original ones, but depends on your luck sometimes...

Yes but the black one moto x pro doesn't have the nexus logo , only motorola
Moto X Pro battery cover looks grippy with soft touch material applied on top of plastic. It would work better than stock nexus 6 battery cover. I would ditch nexus logo on the back for a better grip.

Very nice indeed, did the battery door come with its own adhesive ?
@Semseddin Yup. It has this super sticky adhesive already applied. The hardest part is getting the old one off. You have to be really careful. There's some heat shield or something that separates the battery and the back cover. Once I started removal, I used a manicure tool I had with a rounded edge to separate the back cover from it. Here's a good video showing the removal and replacement.

@JR442,
I can take it out using my bare fingernails, being a cell techician for quite a while.. I ordered 3 pieces of black battery doors. 1 for myself and 2 for my customers. I watched a nice moto x pro review on youtube by rozedked. Provides detailed look of the black battery door. I think more nexus6 owners will realize the need of this battery door as the stock plastic battery door is so fingerprint magnet and slippery and tends to get scratched easily. None of these would be an issue with the black soft touch moto x pro back cover.

Did you ever get any more of those? I went to order some more and they're sold out. I did find a place that sells the adhesive backing for them so I could reuse the one I have easily. I just did a frame swap because my blue frame had a couple nicks, plus I was tired of looking at it. Went with the frame from the white version this time.

Thank you! The one I got came with adhesive too. But it gets a little messed up if you have to remove it. That's where I was getting at when I said I found replacement double sided adhesive. Then you can peel off the old, heat up the new. Slap it on and reuse the same battery cover as often as you need to. Still... I'd love to be able to purchase some more if your seller has any left. There were two sellers on eBay I've seen and both of them are out of stock now. ?

I've never actually tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. It's made of the same material as the stock one. Just a soft touch rubber coating. I'd think the only thing that would hinder NFC would be something metal.

Will moto Z force cases fit play?

So like it says in the title... I know the phones are technically different sizes. But the difference appears to be very VERY minimal. I'm wondering if with a very small amount of altering if any at all the cases would be compatible...
No headphone jack opening.
haha I hadn't thought of that, however it's nothing a dremel couldn't fix
not fully compatible
I use one o those, and if you make the headphone hole in the case it will fit, BUT I cant use Screen protectora o tempered glass because its not compatible with the case, Im think that is because of tje differece in size.
Yes most of the moto z force cases fit i heard from jwills and a few other utubers just need headphonr jack

I'm using a Case Mate "Tough Stand" made for the force. No headphone jack opening, but this case is awesome. Adds very little bulk and has built in stand for viewing. Got it at the local Verizon store during the BOGO promotion.

I would not recommend this. The jack and several microphones get covered. Also, the phone is slightly taller and wider than force so the protection may be compromised.
*I have both phones and have tested several force cases on play
I probably won't be doing it, but it's literally a half of a millimeter wider and taller. If you drill out the mic holes and headphone jack I hardly see it being a problem. But after looking there aren't many more cases for the force that would make me want to go through the trouble honestly.
Has anyone tried spigen rugged armor case ? Love them but they are only present force. Planning to buy them and use with play ! Anyone who has tried it if can help would be great!
yes it will fit for the Moto Z, but not have hole for the headset jack

I second this. A nice tempered glass and a bumper case is all this phone needs. One with mod support would be guaranteed to get my purchase
Don't think it is possible. The mods sit flush with the phone. The bumpers to fit right needs lips on both sides to hold onto the phone.

I don't care if I have to take it off to change mods at all. I just want a bumper that can work with mods.
Some one did say they shaved the plastic tab and it worked. I'll let you all know.
It works fine. I can use my battery mod and I don't see why other mods won't fit. There is a tab on the bumper that goes into the finger nail Grove on the mod. I think cutting that of would made this better but all any all it works how I want it to. Protection and mods.
The Verizon Z2 play bumpers work perfect, and with mods! Got mine today, and tried it with the speaker (jbl2), and the battery pack (Moto branded)

I bet there are some mods that may be affected. For example just eyeballing the Controller mod you can tell it isn't going to work. There may be others due to side of the mod.

I'm gonna see if I can buy a controller mod online so I don't have to wait until it arrives in a local store.
So far though, the battery mod feels amazing with this case .

The corners actually touch the controller mod, but there would be enough room all the way around the sides, top, and bottom.

It works right out of the box with all the emulators I've tried thus far, and when you install the mod's app it has a section for games you can get from the Play store (mostly free games)

I use my old z force bumper on my Z2. Fits good and the extra thickness helps blend in the sides of the turbo mod. So it feels more like a z force with the Incipio mod.
