Is MHL supported - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hi folks,
I am new to the forum, I have recently purchased Mi Max 2 and as it has USB-C, I was wondering whether it supports MHL to HDMI before purchasing MHL cable?
If not, is there any custom ROM that I can use, as hardware is already there.
Any help is much appreciated.
PS - I googled and could not find a definite answer from any reliable source.

[Q] Question concerning S III mini connectivity

Greetings,
People seem to be comparing the S3 mini to the S2, which i find to be a little bit strange, I seem to have found out that it support much less Bluetooth profiles than the S2 I9100 phone. But I have a few questions for you guys, on gsmarena it is indicated that it will NOT support USB Host or USB OTG which is a requirement for me, can anyone confirm this or not? Also, if it does support USB OTG, will it use the old MHL connector or the new one that permits to use HDMI and USB at the same time?
Thanks for the help!
Carl

Can anyone confirm this? Want to use hdmi with my S III mini.
Actually it's not very clear, someone says the old one, some others the new one ( 5 pin /11 pin if i don't get wrong). You need to find someone who already tried
i tried usb otg, and it didnt work but i saw somebody say its just a software limitation.. somebody also said he tried tv out and it worked but he didnt mention which cables he used...

This microUSB port is MHL-compliant too, letting you output HD video and surround audio when using the right kind of cable. The one downer is that Samsung has made this port ever-so-slightly proprietary and it'll reportedly only work properly as a video output when used with Samsung's own cable. This costs around £20.

This is very good quote from trustedreviews.com , but did You tried this? (no offence)
Because I searched for some information about MHL support in my gt-i8190 and i found contradictory answers. Some sites and reviews said that S3 mini supports MHL, others that it doesn't. Even on official samsung site there is no information about this. (only "No TV Out")
So the questions are:
1. Does it support MHL? Anyone tried it with success?
2. If it supports, what MHL standard? 5-pin or 11-pin?

Did your MHL cable work for the M8?
I have a cheap one I got for my Samsung s3, and it has an adapter that goes between the phone and the cable and if I don't use that adapter it works fine. I think the Samsung interface has a switched wire that's why it needs it. So not all cables are the same but if the universal one had a removable adapter it will probably work.

How did you guys got it to work? I bought two different MHL 5pin adapters and none worked. The MHL symbol does appear on the phone but there is no image on the TV. I dont undestand and I am getting desperate, does someone has any tips?
Cheers
A "cheap" MHL cable will probably be MHL 1.0, which won't support 1080p (1080i @ 30Hz max rather than the 1080p @ 60Hz that MHL 2.0 supports)
Most MHL cables are also designed for use with recent Samsung devices, which use a proprietary MHL implementation, which is NOT compatible with non-Samsung devices.
The MHL "standard" is almost totally useless, mostly thanks to Samsung creating this confusion, plus the fact that almost no-one ever categorically states what version of the format (1.0, 2.0 and now 3.0) their devices are.
The new Sony devices support MHL 3.0, if they use a standard implementation then their adapters might be the way to go, assuming they eventually turn up and don't cost an arm and a leg.
Anyone with T-Mobile firmware can please confirm if MHL works?

HDMI MHL

Good morning, mhl Clable know of any, other than the original sony functioning ??
Thank you
Yeah I would like to know this as well ? I'm struggling to find MHL cables that are announced as 3.0 ones. Most of the time, they don't specify anything.
Any way to be sure to get a compatible 3.0 cable ?
I bought a cheap one on ebay
1080P-Micro-USB-MHL-to-HDMI-HDTV-CABLE-ADAPTER-For-HTC-One-M8-LG-Sony-Xperia-Z1item27e2c0cb36
cost me a fiver (GBP) and works with my Z1 Compact and my Z2 Tablet.
plugs into my older Panasonic (non-smart) HD TV.
You have to power it with micro-usb, tho'

Type-C (USB 3.1) and hdmi out

Hello everyone,
I'm thinking about this phone, but my first priority is to be able to connect it via cable with my Pioneer AppRadio (I know there is miracast, chromecast etc - been there, tried both, sound quality with compression is really low).
As this device has USB 3.1 - would any adapter work?
I can't seem to find exact answers if all usb 3.1 type-c devices support hdmi out (or some sort of mhl).
Thanks
I'm also interested in this. Did anyone check if MHL or Slimport is working on Z2 pro?
Hi,
After looking in this site http://www.gsmarena.com/lenovo_zuk_z2-8125.php, i can see that this is a usb 2 adapter with a type-c connector.
They also don't mention mhl/hdmi so this means that it is probably not supported.
I don't think there is any relation between usb and mhl or hdmi.
Hope this helps.
I did read somewhere it only supports wifi direct as display output but I can not find my source
It can work, because we can have it with USB 3.1, but we need drivers/settings inside a kernel and custom rom.
I have a usb 3.1 type C module who give me charge, usb 3.0 port and hdmi port, actually, only USB 3.0 port work.
The point is , it's getting harder and harder to find a good phone with 4/4+ GB RAM with video out support. No one really knows why they're moving away from this tech even if it's cheap and easy to implement. Some people say they're trying to promote wireless connectivity, others say having those powerful phones support video out will eventually prevent people from buying entry-level laptops. Anyhow, it's weird. If you know of any device with 4 or more GB of RAM (Sony's devices excluded) that support video out, please let us know!
HTC 10 and LG G5 both support HDMI out.

I forgot to exclude LG too. After G2, their flagships are a disappointment, one way or another.
Anyway, thanx for the info, I didn't know HTC 10 supports it.
