Stock / Root Genuine Huawei EMUI Call Recorder? - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

I wonder if the P20 Pro comes with Call Recording as standard (in certain regions) or if anyone who rooted wants to try enabling the call recorder working on the Mate 10 Pro, Mate 10, Honor 9 etc here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/guide-activate-huawei-call-recording-t3738349
For me this is a must-have feature and I'm very happy with it on the Mate 10 Pro.
Thanks
Raph

I can try to search one for your p20. Give me more details about was going wrong. Is your phone with unlocked bootloader and rooted.?

Yes, P20 rooted with magick disk.
With the permissions installed like in the post.
When you press options and then call recorded the app crashed, and the 2 buttons for double SIM calls disappear.
I tried mate 10 app, i think that is 8.0 and p20 is 8.1

For now, if you use Google ok deactivate it and try again. I don't have the APK for 8.1, but in my opinion it is not different . I will post the solution when it will be available.
What root solution is magick disk? Post a link please.

Why to root and use this recorder if there are many in Google Play that work great without the root?

However on the huawei mate 10 pro streaming in high definition does not work !
It only works in top quality and low quality !
Am I the only one in this situation ? or at other person it does not work too ?
Do you know where it comes from or what do you do ?
Because, huawei or tidal do nothing.

is there any solution for this?
Mate 10 doesn't work with TIDAL hi-fi here too...

Strange thing is that it works if you download the song first to offline. Then it will play in hifi without issues..

That's right... If I downloaded it first I can hear the song. It's a Mate 10 bug.
I have tried in a Huawei G8 and works correctly.
I post a comment by your link and they answer me in Portuguese
Edit : they said that huawei doesn't guarantee compatibility and we will wait for an update!!
Response from Huawei to my question:
"Thank you for your contact with the Huawei Portugal technical support team, as well as your preference and willingness to make our products. As far as the question is concerned, let us first of all inform you that Huawei does not guarantee 100% compatibility of the equipment itself with third-party applications. In addition, we inform you that the Huawei Mate 10 model has the latest operating system version available, namely Android 8.0 & EMUI 8.0. The incompatibility of the Tidal application with this version of operating system is totally normal, since at the time that its application was developed very likely this version of operating system did not yet exist. Therefore, you should wait for some update by the developers of the Tidal application, so that you can use it in this device."
Yeah sure it's a problem with this "new android"... Strange then that it is no problem on android 8.1 on my nexus 5x ?. Have raised a ticked at Tidal to and got this answer:
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to let us know what you’re experiencing.
Our programming team confirmed with me that this is a known issue that is affecting a number of users, which has placed it at the top of their list to fix.
While I don’t have a timeline as to when a fix will go through, please know that our team is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
We realize that this is an inconvenience for you, so we thank you for your patience.

like many of you, I reported this to Tidal Dec 20. Still no update unfortunately
Now tidal is working. Not 100% but now I can skip tracks. Sometimes I have to press pause and then play to start the song.
Same here.
As of this date, this is still an issue, at least for me.
Coming from LG G6, I find it very disappointing that Huawei hasn't addressed this issue yet.
I have also submitted a complaint.

Yep, it should be there. :good: At least that's what I've heard from people who have had some time with review units.
It does, it's positioned in the middle of the notch near the top between the earpiece/speaker and the camera. It's not very bright but it's there. I currently have a review unit so let me know if you've any more questions!

From my time with it so far, I don't see any setting for double tap to wake so I don't think it's a feature to be honest. I will say, the Face Unlock is incredibly fast and works in very dark scenarios also which is good. The fingerprint scanner on the front is also extremely fast to use.

Thanks buddy,
Will keep this and let you know I get on. I went into a phone shop today and got to play with the P20 for a few minutes. My impression was positive. I can also confirm the LED notification. Screen estate on the P20 is great so can imagine the P20 pro is even better. I have to say that the IPS screen on the P20 was also really good (even with a black wallpaper) so can imagine the P20 pro being even better with a black wallpaper given it is AMOLED.
The phone felt snappy. The only concern I had was around the placement of the fingerprint being so low at the front. I'm sure there will be ways to get used to this and also the face unlock to make things easy.

No Call recording on Android 9 and above

Dear all, I have been reading some confusing input on this forum regarding being able to record phone calls on Android 9 using NON ROOTED phones......
As per an official release by ACR (Makers of a good call recording app) there will be no call recording functionality provided due to a removal of a necessary API from the operating system.... see below.
https://bitbucket.org/copluk/acr/issues/2418/kb-android-9-p-call-recording-issues
Can someone please confirm if they have successfully installed ACR (or anything comparable) on their NOTE 9 (UNROOTED) phone ?
The Note 9 runs 8.1 not 9.0, but call recording does work.
Just be careful to not upgrade to Android 9. It will then stop recording

But with Android 9 Pie, Google has made it impossible for apps such as Call Recorder - ACR and BoldBeast Android Call Recorder to be used to record calls. Unless, that is, you're willing -- or able -- to root your handset.

You sure? On the beta thread people said the same then they realized they were using speakerphone, which obviously recorded both sides. Another one is if you are in a region that Samsung has enabled call recording on their own app, then it obviously records. So some details would be more useful than just saying it works. Like what app, what model region and CSC would be useful. Cheers

Video messed up on 178.

Since I installed firmware 178 when I send video to people in WhatsApp it is messed up between normal playing, high speed and then slow when I send to people.
I uninstalled WhatsApp beta in case it was that and went back to standard version but it looks to be phone related and not WhatsApp related.
They are perfect on my phone but everyone I send to is having issues.
The videos were made with the stock camera app on video auto.
Anyone else having issues?

This video claims GMS installation on Mate 40 Pro and uses similar method as Googlefier (local backup restore, LZPlay, patched MicroG). It did not work for me. Not sure if this is just click bait or if there is a difference between international and chinese version of Mate 40 Pro.

I've found an App which gives you GMS on the Mate 40 Pro, although its more of a Virtual Machine you run on your Mate 40 Pro so it's not as Snappy like the Phone itself but it works. So if you need to do some Banking or use one of thoose E-Scooter Apps it'll do the Job just right.
Basically you just need to Install the VMOS Pro apk, and boot the Android 7.1 System Enable the Google Services in the Settings, restarting the App and you're good to go.

It doesn't work with the Global version of Mate 40 Pro, only with the Chinese one...
Does anyone with some Android technical background understand why? I have a feeling 99% of the community is just waiting for something to happen without even trying things out and even wanting to understand what's happening under the hood...
I would be happy to debug things but just need a hint where to look/start.
Is there any info what LZplay exactly did? Did Huawei leave stubs for GMS in the system partition and LZplay leveraged escalated device administrator rights to do things?
i have a Chinese version. i installed GMS on my phone and it works well so far. dont know if it will be banned in the future.
https://medium.com/@topjohnwu/huawe...oor-to-reinstall-google-services-c3a5dd71a7cd
Good article at least for my own education. So no stubs but undocumented API. I guess Huawei removed those in international firmware of Mate 40 just to comply more with Google legal ban. But in China they feel more comfortable and left those in. What a mess based on geopolitics...
MDM SDK is available, the question is if Huawei will even approve the apk signing with speficic calls...

Based on the Weather Widget Location he has a Chinese Version in which you can Install GMS. Doesn't matter to me i (we?) need a way for the International Version...
Dear friends! Would anyone describe in English what to do and how to get to the international version?
Hi to everyone.
I have a Mate 30 Pro 5G LIO-AN00, it's a Chinese device with EMUI 11 updated. I have got it since december, 2019 with Google services working nice ... but 2 days ago I make a mistake so I lost my Google Services.
I followed twice videos of John Wang and at the previous video of him I followed you all the steps RIGHT and at the end of the video I received a lot of Google notifications that my device is not certified.
Then I followed to him at second video in order to delete Google notifications step by step but at the end Google notifications continues ... .... What can I do ???
Before this I reset my Mate 30 Pro and I started from 0. I only use WiFi network, not SIM card .... but it's impossible to delete Google notifications ... :crying: :crying: :crying:
Any advice, please ??
Thank you so much in advance !!!!

Wow, that is awesome !! GMS on a chinese mate 40 RS. Thanks for sharing. I do have a few questions.
1. Where are you using the device? Are you in the USA geographically?
2. Are there any problems with sending and receiving group texts? i.e. Do you ever get a problem where you message on a group text, but the message arrives to the group members individually instead of in the group? I had this problem when i was using a chinese find x2 pro in the US on Tmobile, otherwise it worked perfectly
3. does google assistant "hey google" and google news feed work?
Thanks a bunch!
