Purchase recommendations for 3.5mm jack adapter on usb type c improves the sound qual - Sony Xperia XZ2 Questions & Answers

I am looking for a 3.5 mm jack aif usb type c adapter, with which you can get the most out of music quality. I ask you to enlighten me and advice. A second question would be still, is the quality of the sound over a jack adapter worse than a built-in 3.5 mm jack connection. thank you for your help

There's no way you will hear a difference between 3.5mm jack and usb-c connector, because it's still the audio chip that "makes" the sound. Still, if you'd have headphones costing thousands of bucks, you'd never tell if 3.5mm or usb-c is better in phone. Mobile audio chips aren't so great all in all. That being said, adapter that comes with XZ2 is perfectly fine. Buy reasonably earphones and enjoy the music.

He's talking about external DAC... And it makes a huge difference if the DAC is decent. This way the sound is transmitted to the usbc hardware as a digital feed and is then decoded.

Check out this guy.
Qualcomm AQT1000 32bit/384kHz with playback dynamic range of 122dB.

I was actually interested in whether the sound on the included adapter is just as good as if you directly installed a jack. I would be interested in the technical data as far as the sound of the snapdragon 845 is concerned. at xz2

HTC U11 adapter is good enough. (I use and recommend it)
Sound quality is great, with no distortion and good (high) volume! (24bit/192kHz)
Sent from my Sony Xperia XZ2!

I also looked for that. but where can I buy the original?

In USA, HTC website.
From time to time it appears to sell.

https://www.htc.com/de/accessories/usb-c-digital-to-3-5mm/#!pid=htc-u11
that would be him? what is actually better with the adapter than with the sony?

The HTC adapter has a stronger AMP and better DAC inside.

but that's the adapter where I posted the link from

the SMSL DACs work, brought one over from my XZ1. But it has the same issue it did there, it'll only work through specific apps for local audio files and supported streams. I use USB Audio Player Pro, a paid app.
If you're just looking for an analogue pass through for USB C to 3.5mm and NOT a DAC, these from INGOUE work fine: https://www.amazon.com/Headphone-IN...533674928&sr=8-8&keywords=usb+c+3.5mm+adapter

Usb type c audio jack sound better?

Hi guys I was not too happy with the built in dac on the note 8 and a friend recommended buying a usb c to headphone adapter as apparently have there own dac built in so I bought the htc one http://www.htc.com/uk/accessories/usb-c-digital-to-3-5mm/
And I don't know if I'm hearing things but it does sound louder with the adapter or am I just hearing it different?
My question is if it's true about these adapters having there own dac is there a better one the the htc obviously in a reasonable price range ive seen the one with the razor phone is ment to be good
And if this is the case I don't see the big fuss about looking the headphone jack if we can get great sound from the adapters lol
Thanks

Are you sure your friend didn't say that usb would use the headunit dac instead? I know that works that way, usb c to usb into my headunit for direct file play using only the headunit dac not headunit dac+ phone dac. No, I can't see any adapters your talking about having built into dac.
I can also tell you that I can't use high res in poweramp through usb or UHQ upscaler in settings with usb audio. I prob won't use it much due to those reasons, or Bluetooth for poor audio quality and no uhq upscaler either. Leaving aux for being the best for audio on this phone.

The moment you use the usb-c port to play your music, it bypasses the internal DAC. This is why ALL usb-c earbuds etc have their own DAC. I honestly doubt an adapter-DAC combo less than 10 pounds will outperform the DAC in the Note 8.
There is a major distinction between
1. How the DAC processes and shapes your music.
2. How 'powerful' it is and if it can handle high impedance headphones.
Seems to me that no. 2 is likely but definitely not no.1 with the adapter you linked.
It is well known that LOUDNESS(not volume) often comes across as BETTER quality sound.
Thanks guys I'm no audiophile I just wanted better and louder sound which the usb c headphone adapter seems (placebo maybe) do I've looked around on Amazon with a few of them claiming that they have decent dac built it
Do these dac in the adapters bypass the phone dac or something ?

Sound quality via usb type c to 3.5 mm jack.

Hi, I would like to buy the xz2. I recently had the lg v30 and since I like to use Viper4Android, I just did not like the v30 DAC. I also like to use Viper4Android again, my question is, is the sound quality about usb type c to jack just as good as the old 3.5 mm jack? can I use Viper4Android like that? with the jack adapter?
I own headphones from good old Z2 times (MDR-NC31EM) and sound quality is better than Z2 and better than Z5, Clear & Loud, i do miss noise the canceling function in sound menu, maybe because of usb to 3.5 adapter. But i cannot speak about sound mods cause i dont use them realy.
I used this headphones on Z2, Z5 and now XZ2 to give real comparison. Sound is Excelent
I agree, sound is excellent. Slightly louder than previous Sony devices. Quality is good but as stated by stipi69, no noise cancelation capability and I'm using the Sony mdr-nc750. No comparison to LG V30 though. That device audio is far superior to the XZ2.
I do not know how to assess it, whether much quality is lost from the sound, thereby only having an adapter for headphones
can one actually use the original adapter of the htc?
You did not like the V30 DAC? That's odd. Together with the V20 it has the best sound quality you can get in a phone (or pretty much any other portable device). If you want better, you'll be looking at spending quite a bit on an external DAC and headphone amp.
I did not like LG's default settings for the dac. Now have the Bose Soundsport Wireless free. With my xz2 and a Tidal Hifi Abbo just the MADNESS
I have them too, I'm not so impressed with them from a sound quality perspective. Had the Sony WF-1000X before, which sounded better, but had connection issues. My main headphone is the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 Ohm though, and before that Sony MDR-CD480. The Beyerdynamic really need the amp of my LG V20.
Do you mean now, you are not so excited about the evil headphones?
You mean about the Bose? They are fine. Overall I like them more than the Sony WF-1000X. However those made me smile listening to them, which happens with very few headphones. The Sonys sound wonderful, but have some serious connection issues, no volume controls, etc.
Can someone tell me how I can use the HTC adapter with viper4android correct? At the moment this is unfortunately only recognized in the tab speaker, which is not meaningful. I want the adapter to be recognized as headphones or under USB in Viper. Is there in the ne XML, where you could achieve something by means of editing
You could contact Viper team directly, i would imagine they'll be happy to add support for even more devices andconfigs

Type C to 3.5mm possible?

Is that possible to use the type c to 3.5mm converter for 7 plus?
why?! you have 3,5 mm jack
I have a HTC Usb to 3.5mm adaptor that I used on my HTC U ultra and it works great with the Nokia 7 plus as well.
I think the audio is louder using the adaptor and better quality.

because the sound quality from the 3.5mm is so poor
I have huawei p20 headphones also with usb-c and these are better than anything else.

Want to know does it worths to buy the adaptor just for sound quality improvement?
That's a difficult question as I always find audio a very personal thing.
I have just tried my Akg K451 headphones with both the audio jack on the phone and the HTC adaptor.
The HTC 3.5 mm adaptor is significantly louder than the audio jack at full volume. I notice some distortion in the audio jack that is absent on the HTC adaptor. I think the audio from the adaptor is fuller and far more pleasing to my ear.
I have no idea how these things work, for instance does the HTC adaptor have its own DAC or is it simply a pass through device? The difference in audio level would suggest to me the presence of its own DAC so maybe that would account for the difference in audio .
Maybe it's worth buying the adaptor just to drive certain headphones better. I have a pair of status audio headphones at home that I normally use with a headphone amp to drive them I will try them on the 7 plus later to see how they sound with the audio jack and the adaptor.
Sorry I can't be more definitive.
By the way the HTC adaptor is around £10 in the UK direct from HTC.
Is the sound quality and volume really that bad or is it just some specific/batch units?
I listen to a lot of audiobooks on the go and it would be a shame if this was a dealbreaker.
No I don't find the audio particularly bad and most of the time it is loud enough.
Most of the time I use the 3.5 jack and don't have a problem but when I'm sitting listening to music and doing nothing else I prefer the audio from my HTC adapter.
The volume will depend on the impeadence of the headphones used, my AKG headphones are always much louder than my status audio ones when used in the same device.

I think it can,I used a Xiaomi's type-c headset that can be used
Quite strangely, My Mi A2's USB-C to 3.5 adapter DOES NOT WORK with my Nokia 7+

Question Issue in plugging earphone

I just bought a USB type C-to-3.5mm adaptor (Xiaomi brand) and plugged into S21u using my existing earphones such as Sony, Realme and Huawei. None of them is working. It says "USB is not supported". I do not want to use Type C earphones as all my other mobiles and laptops use 3.5mm jack. Any solution?
The adapter must have an inboard DAC.
Newer Samsung phones output in digital only, no analog.
Use the Samsung C port/3.5 mm adapter.
Better yet get a pair of Buds+, at the very least you'll want them for calls.
Finally, got myself a basic type C earphone made by Samsung (costs 27 USD) rather than an adapter with built-in DAC. The sound is rich in mid and high but lacks bass compared to my existing 3.5mm earphones.
I had the same earphones, single driver, no bass at all, totally worthless. Replaced them with these which are very good. Samsung no longer offers them but can be found in South Korea on eBay. Contrary to the video the price is down to around $70 USD. Not as good as the 1MORE Quad Driver which requires an adapter.

Question S21U not compatible with usb to 3.5mm dongle?

I just tried my xiaomi usb to 3.5mm dongle on my S21U and it said usb device is not recognised.
Is this normal?
Is there "hacks" for rooted s21u?
Use the Samsung one...
kan ikke lide usb mods fra software.
60% is not working
My Apple branded one works. It feels super flimsy though.

Does the USB-C to 3.5mm dongle have a DAC converter chip inside? Some phones don't output analog audio natively through the USB-C port and require a digital to analog conversion which are supported by some external adaptors. Maybe that model device doesn't output analog audio via the USB-C?

Yes, this is the correct answer to the OP's question. You need a DAC USB-C not a simple USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. Such adapters retail for around $50+ the better the DAC the higher the price.
Thanks
Well I will only use my good Mpow M30 bt
It works with 3.5mm dongle

Just bought a 32bit/384kHz sampling one for 8$ on Aliexpress...and before you tell me I can't hear difference between this and a 16bit one...let me tell you..I DO.
I got a 3$ DAC onw and while good for calls, I can definitely tell the difference for music.
And yes, I have the Huawei adapter that came with a Mate 20 Pro ( remember the times when power adapters, cables and 2.5mm jack converters came with phones???) and it's not recognized by the S21U.
Don't curse me for the idiotic link below..I can't shorten it from the ios app:

You will surely hear the difference between a 16bit and 32bit sampling. It's very likely Huawei adapter may not have a DAC on board as my OnePlus 7Pro adapter didn't have one. My contention was not about the price - $50 for a DAC adapter. The point I was trying to make was that you needed an adapter with a DAC..the better the DAC onboard the better your music will sound. It's all personal taste...and if an $8 DAC does the job...good for you!
One day, in the future, phone technology will be so advanced that they will have DAC built in.
use the OEM from samsung ... i did buy a couple with the option to charge at the same time and they didn't work. Saddly you need a one with build-in DAC onto the Type-C to 3.5mm adapter. The cheapest one is the OEM from samsung.... sucks but thats it.
