Nougat 7.1.1 OEM UNLOCK 7 Days Wait + Easter Egg Cat Game ???? - Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) Questions & Answers

For some reason I dont happen to get my OEM UNLOCK option. I read on some of the forums by some Galaxy users that they got their OEM UNLOCK button visible only after waiting 7 days (168 hrs) and also by enabling Nougat Easter Egg Kitty Game by tapping on the Android 7.1.1 tab. I am waiting for my 7 days to complete and already enabled the EASTER EGG game. Anyone has got any experience as such or luck with this trick for getting OEM UNLOCK visible??

[Q] Overclock/under clock?

Just rooted yesterday using towel root. So happy that's finally out!
I'm coming from a galaxy s2 and I remember the rims used to have all these options that don't seem to be available for the note 3 rims. ..is that because of the boot loader lock?
Will the note 3 ever have features like overclock/under clock, status bar customization, long press/short press custom commands for menu and back buttons?
It seems like the roms for the s2 offer so many more options...at the same time it seems like the note 3 could/should have more just with the s-pen...is this all wishful thinking?

Anything that requires a custom kernel cant be done on the Att Note 3, at this point in time. And yes, it is because of the locked bootloader.
So no overclocking/underclocking, but the other 2 can be done with the help of root applications.

Official Android M

With the developer previews being released for the nexus 5, 6, 9 and player, do you think that will get the update or is it the end of the line for our trusty 2012 nexus 7.
I surpose we can only hope
I remember reading on Android Police that our Nexus 7 "Grouper" will be getting Android M and this will be more than likely the last major OS update we'll be getting.

Just in my opinion I think neither nexus 7 will get official M, and especially the 2012 model. I'm sure an unofficial build will pop up eventually by some talented dev....
We got every single (Mod edit: no swearing allowed) update, (pardon my french) so it is simply impossible for me to imagine we won't be getting updates anymore
Well, at the very least, it's apparently in the source tree:
https://android.googlesource.com/device/asus/grouper/+/android-m-preview
I doesn't look good- it seems like the nexus 4 and 7 2012 wont be getting official M

Im looking forward to the unofficial builds from devs though
nexus 7 unfortunately will not get official M

Nexus 5 Key Lime Pie test build

I sent my nexus 5 with a cracked screen (and running lollipop) in to LG to see if the repair was covered under warranty. It wasn't unfortunately, but i notice the phone was sent back to me running some sort of development build named Key Lime Pie.
It seems to be a mix of 4.3 and 4.4. Chrome sees it as 4.3, however it has the 4.4 colors and Easter egg (with 3 new icons, a key lime pie icon and 2 that i don't understand). It also has a strange boot animation that i have never seen before. Here are some screenshots.
https://flic.kr/s/aHske2c2mS
There was another nexus 5 user who had the same build (may be more than a year ago) ...
I think u should flash stock kk to get ota or directly 5.1
Ah I miss the 4.x lockscreen.
I found the thread of someone else who had the same thing, but this is a newer build. That thread was from 2013 and this build is dated Apr 17 2014. Here is what i noticed that i found interesting
- Clearly, Kit Kat had already been chosen for the name, given the logo and kit kat icon in the Easter egg, so I'm surprised it still said Key Lime Pie.
- There is a "Google Photos" app that has a different icon, but is also an extension of Google+ which clearly is the predecessor to the current "Photos" app
- In the easter egg there are 6 icons i have seen so far that are not present in Kit Kat that i have attached. Other than the Key Lime Pie and candy cane icons, I cant say for sure what the rest are. If anyone here can identify that would be awesome.
Could you post the boot animation?

I'm able to identify almost all of them, they exist in stock KK BTW (if you played long enough with the easter egg) :
-The donut thingy is called Donut Burger
-The slice of pie is obviously Key Lime Pie
-The pudding thingy is Flan (Flan is an old codename that's never used for Android 2.2, which is Froyo)
-The triangle with a weird face is called Dandroid, which supposed to be original Android mascot
-The stacked square (which looks like ice cream sandwich) is Petitfour (based on png of KK framework), this is the name of Android 1.1 (before Cupcake)
-The candy cane is supposed to be another codename for Jelly Bean (before it was released), it's called Jandy Cane
There's also a zombie gingerbead (reference to old Gingerbread easter egg which is Android surrounded by zombies using phones)

Interesting, and now that I played with it for a while on my KK device and saw them after a while I feel like a bit of a fool. It did take much longer to encounter than on the development build though. Also, dandroid really creeps me out, very happy that didn't become the official mascot.
The bootanimation is the Ice Cream Sandwich one. Here's another example of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yj60gbviQoo
I've seen this firmware before, being reported by another user around a year ago, while I don't know if that user dumped it.
If possible could you please dump this firmware ? I know it's pretty buggy in a number of areas but it has the old Webview as far as I know, something that will make Flash work fully among minor other things.
Also I want to dig into this build :3
It's just an early KitKat build.
Can we get a build out of this?
why would anybody want to have a build of this?Im not being a smartass, im really wondering why would anyone want to use a test build of an old operating system
please make a build out of it

Why would lg wipe the phone? Its one thing if they changed the motherboard but for a screen replacement? And they didn't even replace they screen which makes it more odd.

LG phones have 2 type of stock roms. FACTORY and USER. LG flash FACTORY ROM when they get your phone to do tests and etc. When LG finished with the repair they flash back the USER rom. In your case they forgot to flasg back the USER rom.
Is it possible to make a dump of it? I can help you out with that.

There have been always some ways!
For this One UI there are two ways.
1. Wait Until the next year start as Samsung will roll out the OneUI update according to a website somewhere around Jan-Fab 2019
2. But if you want to wait longer than wait for a developer who will port that OneUI ROM or ROM features for Note8.
And one thing we all have to admit that delay in updates for older devices is part of business. As if Samsung spreads Every new feature to even a year old device, no one will buy the new ones.

The obligatory 18 month Open Handset Alliance policy soon expire for the Note 8.
We have a better chance of eventually getting Android P, than the UI
I'll update my com . Its booting now . Few weeks i think until it will be bugless

The One UI is part of Samsung's Android P update, so one way or another, you'll get it.
i tried to logging in to Samsung Members and sign up for OneUI beta but unfortunately it is not stated... Oh well... guess i'll have to wait till next year..

As far as I know, the One UI beta program is only available to Galaxy S9/9+ users.

A little update for "1 ui" on note 8 . There is alpha 4 testers http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/DBT/SM-N950F/version.test.xml . If its alpha and samsung like buggy updates I would think that beta might come ..... soon XD . Maybe this year

Questions regarding Root, Safetynet and Android 12 Beta

Is the fix for Safetynet still spoofing older Pixel models?
If I were to upgrade to Android 12 and root would I want to be formally enrolled in the Android 12 Beta program? Would that probably be dependent on whether I choose to run official or custom firmware?
I'm currently running unrooted stock OS Android 11 on an unlocked Pixel 5 purchased directly from Google. I haven't rooted my phone since I owned a Samsung Galaxy S3. I have rooted all my Android tablets and even played with root temporarily on my Verizon Samsung S6 in the meantime. I guess what I am trying to say is; I'm pretty comfortable with wiping, rooting, flashing roms and working with recoveries as well as bootloaders. I'm aware of the OEM Unlock/Lock feature. Is there anything else new like the OEM Unlock that I should be aware of before I take the leap to root? I initially intended to root my Pixel 5 right away. The timing of it's arrival was actually great for me but poor for my ambitions of rooting in that it arrived about five days early and I ended up breaking my own leg and ankle two days before it was initially scheduled to arrive and thus ended up postponing my plans to root since I did not want to tinker with all this stuff while taking copious amounts of medically prescribed painkillers. Thanks for any answers, advice or other help.
I'm not sure about the Android 12 beta program but as long as you follow the rooting guides step by step, you should be alright.
