Call quality is good. But the volume is low, even when i put the volume on highest level.
Do other people recognize this?

Use Viper fx 1.8 - it fixes this problem. You will need root (magisk).

Which settings do you use? I have Viper FX but don't notice any improvement in call quality.

Installed Viper 4. Lot of improvement.

1/3 of the calls I'm on the person on the other end complains that I'm 'garbled' sounding. I can hear them (although not as loud as I would like). The signal doesn't matter, I can have full signal. This happens with the earpiece, bluetooth headsets, headphones with mic, and speakerphone. Using Rogers SIM in Canada and AT&T SIM in USA. Current OTA updates MIUI 10.2.1.0 PEDMIXM + Pie, also happened to the previous version, Chinese hardware with global rom.
Amazing piece of technology that doesn't work as a phone. First Xiaomi device that I'm really disappointed with. Might have to go back to my Mi Max 1.

I really don't know how you want people to answer your question.
It depends on:
opinion
music
mods
head/earphones
And more

not really
i was just asking whether it was louder than the z1c
well I cant compare it to a z1c but I can compare it to a 5s and Nexus 5. The internal speakers are louder than the 5s and Nexus 5. The headphone jack output is terrible. It is by far the quietest I have ever heard. I must have the volume on my stereo up over 1/2 before it can even be heard. With the Nexus it was bad but not this bad, the 5s was great. It would only need to be at 1/4 for comfortable listening. This is easily 1/3 as loud as the iphone was.
Bluetooth audio out will blow the speakers if the volume is not adjusted down after using the headphone jack.
I can compare to the Galaxy S5 I had before. Unfortunately the in call headset is much lower in volume, I have to push it to almost max to hear someone loud enough when I am outside, compared to the S5 when I only kept it at around 50-75% mark.
Also, during calls, only the bottom speaker activates when you want to talk hands free which is a bummer. They should activate both via firmware update.
i have Z1C and wonder too if z3C is louder, my loudest phone what i had was Motorola Defy+ )

Couldn't believe it when I read the above, but yes, tested it and it's true. I mean, is there any reason why only the lower speaker activates? Sony, please enable both, we want to be fully able to use the phone in hands-free mode!
Besides that, to me, the volume of the earpiece counts most for everyday situations. And this is where the Z3C really shines. Never had a phone such loud and clear.
I must admit I've thought I was on speaker phone when I get calls, the earpiece speaker is really loud and clear.

There must be something wrong with my phone because the incall volume is sooooo low.
in call volume is fine, although i have it permanently at 100%. speakerphone is really quite quiet, especially when compared to Samsung phones. must be something that can be tweaked with root, or via official Sony update, as notifications, ringtones, music, etc. are quite decent volume.
headphone volume isn't spectacular (again, Samsung seems to amp this more), but really it's fine.

Call quality is good over AT&T 2G. Earpiece has decent enough volume.
This is actually my only complaint about this phone. Don't get me wrong, I love this phone, but I feel like it is slightly difficult to hear the other person when they are talking to me. Other people do not have any problems hearing me, so it's just on my end (earpiece speaker). I have AT&T. It also could just be my hearing, I've had some ear problems recently....
It's not annoying enough for me to give up my phone. In fact, my s6 Edge+ is sitting in my desk drawer collecting dust because I've fallen in love with this phone. I'm not saying that this is a better phone than the s6 Edge+, but in terms of day to day use, it's great. I just wish the earpiece volume would be a little higher.
Anyone know of a mod that will do this?
Agreed. No major complaints, but a slightly quiet volume on average. I'm using H2O Wireless (an AT&T MVNO).

Try this to increase earpiece volume:
Get MTK engineering from the play store. Run it and go into MTK settings -> Hardware testing -> Audio -> Normal mode.
On that page select type = Sip (should already be set) then set max volume to 160. Then change SPH and SPH2 Level 6 value to 160.
This works for me.

Thanks a lot. This worked for me also.
Is there something similar to increase the loudspeaker volume for calls and regular audio?

Yes, go to MTK settings -> Hardware testing -> Audio -> Loudspeaker mode and change the same settings
About average
Once I applied the audio engineering mods, I'm satisfied.
jury still out. Bought for my wife and mic failed within 4-days. have replacement almost ready for daily use.
My early opinion is not promising. Yes it's a good deal but only if all components work as expected. To say things such as "for the price" speaks to a false economy. But will give it time.
Early take is my total POS Samsung Core Prime has significantly superior call quality for out going voice, i don't really care is ear speaker is tinny only what our outbound voice quality is...bought this for two line ability using 2nd SIM for business line.
Will prolly keep it as backup since it will be good in pinch if she loses yet another phone.

OK I've increased both the earpiece and loudspeaker volumes with the instructions here in MTK settings and I am happy with the changes.
But I'm planning on giving this phone to my hard of hearing mother so I was wondering if I could increase any of the other settings to get earpiece and loudspeaker volumes higher for her?

I have had this phone about a month or so now and am pleased with it. I bought it because it was recommended for FreedomPop and it works well with that. I also have a T-Mobile sim for the other slot. Overall it works quite well with both. Couldn't beat it for 50 bucks.
I seem to be getting a lot of distortion from the mic when making calls. Almost sounds like the mic sensitivity is too high. Is this common on this phone or is my phone defecti

Which one? There are a lot of MTK Engineer apps there.

Speakerphone (loudness, clarity)

Proper etiquette aside (hint: don't use speakerphone while doing your "business" in a public bathroom), rate this thread to express how you think the LeEco Le Pro3's speakerphone performs. A higher rating indicates that you love it: it's loud and it's clear.

I tried JUI rom, it give best sound quality. Under setting it have special setting > Sound system, where you can set up a slider for it 0-100, it shounds loud and clear like sound system.

It sounds super loud and clear like sound system.
Recently I flash stock Eui 5.9.26S, the sound is very good.
Hello guys, did any of you encounter the lower speaker not working properly. It only works for a few second whenever I start playing vid or music
Tia
I think the stereo speakers is the best of this phone, even better than the sound through headphones (on stock ROM). Has correct bass and dynamics and the volume is pretty loud for being a phone, louder than the htc that I also own
AICP 12.1 Nougat have best sound for me, quite loud too from phone speaker.

Omni ROM is very good as well. The solution to poor sound quality is installing Viper4fx via Magisk. It will make any ROM sound good.

Call quality

Terrible, constant high pitch sound always present when screen is on and a clicking sound that is like a clock. Always the same rate and always present even during calls. RMAing my Pixel 2 and my wifes Pixel 2 for the same reason.
My Pixel 2 has the same type of problem. When you are on a phone call and using the phone against your ear, you hear digital interference noises and ticking sounds. It is so very annoying and unusable.
I heard that turning NFC off help this for the 2 xl
I made one call today from my house and didnt have that problem but my NFC has been off since setting up the phone. I am on Fi and wifi calling as well. One off thing though is I did pair the device up with my Jeep and was playing pandora when a call came through over bluetooth. My Kenwood receiver picked the call up and immediately maxxed out the volume, the beep was loud enough to crackle my aftermarket speakers. Scared the **** outta me. I just immediately hit end call and dropped the volume down. I wouldnt doubt his very well may be an issue Kenwood though.
No issue here with call clarity. Maybe a small step down from my Turbo. But if there is one thing Motorola always nails is their radios.
Side question though, should these phones have a Face Sensor that locks the screen while on a phone call? Mine isn't locking and I was doing all manner of crazy things when my cheek touched the phone.

A little google searching suggests there's a link to Adaptive Brightness. I've re-enabled AB and will see what happens today.
Call quality seems to be good, but I have noticed an intermittent high pitched electronics whine. It's not on every call and not on every call with every person.
It's not a *fix*, but I find myself making and receiving actual phone calls less and less. These days just about every app has a high definition VOIP option available, so I find myself using that a lot. Hangouts, Messenger, Signal, etc. If you're making a lot of business calls daily or talking on the phone a lot with someone over a traditional voice call, I could see it as a dealbreaker. But moving forward, if there's a slight bug I can live with, some minor electronics whine over a legacy communication channel would be it.
I noticed the same problem from my pixel.. I was on a voice call using the Duo app, there a very low volume static clicking sound. I turned off NFC as this thread suggested and the clicking noise goes away; however, there's still some static noise. I wonder if this is a hardware issue...
Can any of you tell us where you got your GP2? Is it a Verizon Phone or did you order it from Google Store?
I just noticed this issue today, it is in line with the rest of your comments ("clock ticking", interference sounds, etc)
I have a Verizon Pixel 2, but I do not think it is limited to their phones. Hopefully Google is able to patch the issue in a future software update by disabling whatever is causing the issue during a phone call.
I assume a software fix will resolve the issue. It would be shocking to go to production with such a glaring problem.

Is the Pixel XL screen burn-in not a glaring problem?
Is anyone else having an issue where you place a call and nobody can hear you on the other end?
Just got my Pixel 2 XL Black last night, No clicking or Buzzing sounds. Call quality is clear. Speaker is bloody loud had to turn it down VS my original Pixel XL.Side Note NFC is on I use NFC daily.
My Pixel2 from google store works perfect. No sound issues. In fact better than my Pixel. The signal at my home left my pixel constantly jumping onto wifi, now I have bars and never goes on wifi. Using Verizon pre-paid.
Tried a GSM call today (Pixel 2 to Nexus 5X) and it was fine. Nothing wrong / Nothing special.
Generally I use VoIP that works also good.

Amazing clarity! Plus very loud too! The other side hears me really clearly too!
Man it's absolutely a beast with all networks.
Has anyone tried calls via a bluetooth headset? My girlfriend and I have such a hard time on the phone because the volume is extremely low. I already adjust settings in the sound settings with adaptive sound and it made it louder but it really only affected my music, not the loudness of my phone calls
