Based on hands on experience Oceab Blue looks the best compared to Copper . Mettalic Copper seems to be a little dull and doesn't seem to stand out . The yellow S pen is certainly a eye turner .

Tom's guide came up with initial battery web browsing test on the Snapdragon variant of Note 9 and according to them it's just a hair bit better than the Note 8, slightly better than the GS9+, on par with iPhone 8 plus and an hour lower than the Pixel 2 XL.
https://www.tomsguide.com/us/galaxy-note-9,review-5647.html
I don't find it "tasty" as Exynos variant was criticized for having lower batterylife than the snapdragon counterpart of the S9/S9 plus and as Note 9 has the same SoCs(obviously).
Note: overall endurances may differ considering other aspects and battery tests from other lab testers are yet to be seen.

Is Samsung Corporate Offer in India safe and reliable with Insurance ? Can someone share your experience.
PS: There are no offers for note 9 now.. But I'm expecting offers soon under Corporate offer.

It's genuine and I have brought a lot of products from Samsung corporate program . They will open up the Note 9 offer a bit late .

Can the S4 pro handle the high res?

Coming from a nexus 10 it is painfully apparent that the internal is is insufficient to handle such a high res which is why im returning it in hope of picking an xperia Z up however having said that....
1) Looking at videos there seems to be a bit of lag and stuttering as people move around the interface.
2) People who have had experiences with the DNA might be able to tell us a bit more.

one of my friends with the DNA says its super smooth even with heavy sense skin on it and the hd display
the s4 processor is a beast.. so dont worry
and the videos dont do justice capturing the quality of the display and the smoothness of the OS.
but i would say once its out just try it out at a store.. and then go for it..
The APQ8064 is insanely fast and efficient with a very good GPU. It'll be fine. From what I've heard the Xperia Z is extremely smooth in operation.
The internals of the Nexus 10 seem fine to me

Trust me theres a lot of stuttering moving around the UI and Lag
Its looked smooth on every video I've seen. Where has it lagged?

I own a Nexus 10 and have noticed very little lag. I think you are overstating the issue.
The ZL is speedy enough for me. Just about as fast as my Nexus 4, and the ZL is running very beta firmware. Gaming might be a different story, but most of the good games offer some type of resolution scaling.
I don't know whether the S4pro is sufficient to maintain a 100% smooth and fast ui experience, but the videos I have seen all seem to show that it is powerfull enough. Web browsing in particular seems super smooth.
My only concern with the XZ is the battery life, I really hope it's better than the XS.
Google knows best and they have access to both. They decided on the Qualcomm S4 pro for the Nexus 4 and the Exynos 5 for the Nexus 10. You figure out the rest. If Samsung/Google wanted to use the S4 pro, it wouldn't be hard considering Samsung is only Qualcomms biggest customer and uses their chips for the North American Galaxy S handsets.
I don't even think the Qualcomm S4 pro can even support 2560 x 1600 actually.
---------- Post added at 06:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:37 PM ----------
Yup, I was correct. One version of the S4 pro maxes out at WUXGA(with a modem) resolution and the more powerful one is a little higher at QXGA(without a modem) resolutiuon.
It can't even run the Nexus 10 even if they wanted to.
---------- Post added at 06:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:45 PM ----------
Watch this video.
http://pocketnow.com/2012/11/27/droid-dna-vs-nexus4
Enough said, the S4 pro chokes a bit on sense and 1080p. Not sure how much better the tablet Z would fair with 1920 x 1200.
You won't get much smoother than the Nexus 10. Wait for an update before you sell. When I had mine before my Brother went overseas and couldn't wait until Google restocked, my Nexus 10 was lights out smoother than my Nexus 4, which has an S4 pro and a much lower resolution.
The S4 pro no only handle high res. ITS MAKE CARNAGES AND SMASH HEADS!!!!!!:cyclops:

Pixel 3 gcam port with night mode ( note 8 Oreo , snapdragon )

Everything seems to work , when using night mode screen is black but the picture will be in gallery and it's pretty impressive .
https://forum.xda-developers.com/as...ixel-3-camera-night-sight-everything-t3859095
Download the one that says stock 8.1 Android users
tried it on exynos for the sake of curiosity/guinea pigging. most of the time it seems to just close, especially when changing mode or camera. HDR/HDR+ results in very bright taken pics, night mode crashes. And it really got the phone hot.
Let's see if we'll have any luck any time soon.
Pretty stable on snapdragon. Night mode is impressive. Full zoom is also better than stock camera.

Yes , went to NY yesterday was comparing note 8 gcam vs iPhone xs. Wouldn't say iPhone is much better , only detalization may be . But at the lounge at night , gosh note gcam dominated
Is the most stable version I tried until now (and I tried a lot) the only issue is that in the night sight (night mode) I can't see before the picture is taken, only after you can check it, do this happened to you too?
Dobyou know if this mod will be updated?

Note 9 or P20 Pro

Hi all i currently have a P20 Pro dual sim but i am bored with the current lack of roms etc and im think of selling and getting a Note 9.
Which is the best version (Snapdragon or Exynos) looks like Exynos after a quick look in the forum?
Buy a Snapdragon because he's a little bit faster and you will have better battery economy

get the exynos because there is a wider range of roms.
( dont think the guy that replied before me realises that)
plus only the n9600 snaldragon has the ability to be rooted the n960u and 960w are useless in that regards.
the exynos n960f /ds and n960n are the prefered devices for people that enjoy root.

Have them both P20 pro & Note 9
I'm not that interested in Unlocking or installing roms on these devices .
I have the P20 Pro 6gb/128gb in use for some months now and last week i bought the Note 9 8gb/512gb Exynos.
When i compare these 2 phones they are both verry good phones i can get used to using any of these as a daily driver .
The only thing that makes me a littlebit worry is the camera .
In my opinion the P20 pro takes better shots but the Note 9 takes better video ..
For now i'l keep them both .

what mode was the n9 camere on?
Get the n9600. It is simply the faster phone.
The exynos may have more custom roms to choose from but since they're all based off stock, they're all pretty much the same. You really need only one rom with one dedicated developer and we have that with @Mentalmuso and WETA rom.

I didn't forget them. All aosp roms are pretty much the same these days too. I just upgraded from the Zuk Z2 plus and we had about 10 pie roms to choose from. All great, but you can pretty much close your eyes and choose one and be good.
As for gsi I've never used it but i understand it to be pure android? If so no thanks. Why would anybody flash that and give up all the features of the note 9? I guess that goes for aosp based roms too. It only made sense on stock boring android but never on Samsung. The loss far outweighs the gains.

the goal of rooting always was about choice..so selecting the device that can give you the wider range of choice would make sense in my opinion....
It's also worth noting that the Exynos version has a slightly better DAC compared to Snapdragon. Good to know if you want quality sound out of it.

Firstly, the note 9 dev section is actually quite lonely - only one kernel, few ROMs and that's all. Secondly, the snapdragon variant is A LOT better vs the exynos in every regard - better battery life, faster CPU in real world, ~30% faster GPU on average, smoother UI (less frame drops), faster emulation on emulators. It's the better variant to get by far.

This is not that true anymore, qualcomm really improved their own DAC in the last two generations. There are enough materials on the web about exynos 9810 - go read Andrei's articles (anandtech) how to improve exynos 9810 (part 1 and part 2). Also his article with direct comparison between the two note 9 variants in real world/real tests not antutu etc. - the snapdragon note 9 makes a joke of the exynos versions. The difference is like high tier midrange device vs the highest tier device. It's not even close and buying the midrange device just because you have two more ROMs that are the same (flashing AOSP on note is absurd as you will give up all the features, you are better of with s9, BUT even then there are compromises like camera quality/features) - is a mistake. Yes, I have the exynos note 9 and while OK, I perfectly well understand and see how mediocre the SOC is, even the sd 835 beats it in some cases and it shows in real world usage.
I am saying all that with warmth of heart towards fellow xda member that can choose between the two variants.

I know right. Choosing an inferior variant solely because it has more of the same rom to flash is beyond crazy. I guess it's true you can only lead a horse to water.

I always use stock. Stock lg camera is what 1 millions filmic pros for iPhone are. Best Pro Grade Software. I'm more and more using manual camera for photos and videos. Locking white balancing, setting the ISo to 61-100 when shooting 4k60fps and many many tricks. By far focus peeking is the best feature ever.
I've installed gcam only to play with the marvels ar stickers.
I've been a log-time LG user and I just bought a G8S, following on from my G7. I also bought a Huawei P30 for my daughter, so I've been able to compare the phones side-by-side.
There's a lot to like about the G8S; gorgeous display (although notch is a little large), good size, premium feel, good battery life. Having used the camera on the P30 I realise that LG's cameras leave a lot to be desired, so it was interesting to see how highly the LGs are rated by VCS.
For me the biggest problem with the LGs is colour saturation and white balance. I like nice bright colours, but the colours from the LGs are far too saturated and the white balance (and hence saturation) varies far too much as you change the framing. The same applies to the G7 and the G8S. I noting this outside with fluorescent-looking grass, but it's particularly bad indoors where everything looks too red. I know I can use manual mode, or use different filters, but this isn't necessary with the P30. The camera app the P30 is generally much better than LG's, being more responsive and with better auto mode.

VCS just use a static test with manual mode, good to compare overall lenses and sensor quality, but not camera experience in general!
It's not the best way to test a camera., for example Mi9 has great scores but it lacks OIS...that makes real life night shots a mess.

Black crush issue

Hi,
Recently I was scrolling through the zentalk forums and Flipkart reviews of the ROG 3 and came across several people complaining about black crush on the display as an issue.
Im worried about it being a widespread problem as I plan to order the phone soon and don't know whether this is due to ASUS choosing poor displays or due to some people recieving a defective phone.
I'd appreciate if those of you who have the phone could tell me about whether you notice any black crush and to what extent, also if you could please do the black crush test on youtube(by a channel called TestRaFx) and post your results for 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% brightness that would be amazing.
(NOTE: For the test just check upto what square you can see/distinguish on each brightness level)
Ya it's there
Ya Heavy black crush while watching videos on YouTube. Especially for Dark scene it's easily visible. I have requested replacement as no refund option was available.
So much disappointed.

Hi,
Recently I was scrolling through the zentalk forums and Flipkart reviews of the ROG 3 and came across several people complaining about black crush on the display as an issue.

Could you please do the black crush test at https://youtu.be/fv6T7aHsd54 and tell me your results for 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% brightness?
How many squares can you see as grey at those brightness levels in a dark room?
Test
0% = 30
25%= 15
50%= 12
75%= 8
100%= 6
Hope this will help you.

Thank you so much, my results are currently as follows(Samsung galaxy note 4):
0%= 30
25%= inconsistent based on slight brightness discrepancies, but atleast a 7
50%= 4
75%= 3
100%= 3
It seems like you must've gotten a faulty display, no way that could be a genuine result for most units, unless Asus has purposefully provided us with bad quality displays.
May I ask what refresh rate you did the test in? Since I know that many high refresh rate screens suffer from black crush more than 60Hz displays.
Also it's interesting that at minimum brightness we have the same black crush but it gets very different during the mid ranges and then you almost catch up again at 100%. I read in android authority that the cinematic colour profile on the ROG is the most colour accurate, you could try that and see if it helps.
Mine is
0% - 25
25% - 12
50% - 9
75% -7
100% - 5
Is it okay or faulty?
Is it that bad? At what brightness should we set it to avoid this issue? Im planning to buy the phone but i think most amoled phones have this even op8pro except nubia rm5g but i dont like nubia having stucked widevine l3 and fast battery draining phone
i've seen it meh!!....it's not bothering me at all (maybe this is my 1st Amoled screen phone)....all and all the phone is an absolute beast!!....worth the buy....jumping from Redmi note 4 prime to this beast of a phone i almost shed tears!!....what a bargain

buy it if you can find the cheapest one.....mine is cheap as heck....im pretty sure the price for the global released will be mind boggling...imagine paying for retards ass price for black crush display ouchh!!...then again it's your money you do you boo!!....im satisfied with my buy...hope it'll last for 5 years max....my redmi note 4 last for almost 4 1/2 years too bad it die this years....that's when i go ballz to the walls and buy ROG im quite satisfied
Actually my order is on way rt now and i just bought the base model 865+ 12/128 and cost me only around 625 usd, which i fell is very sweet deal for the specs. I just want to know if this is normal for this unit or not be bothered to get a replacement.

Yours seems to be fine. A 5 for an amoled is average, it's not the best you can buy(that's usually Samsung) but it's good enough that you shouldn't notice too much. Also, if you want to make it better, try setting it at 60Hz and see if it makes a difference.

I think it's just the luck of the draw. You're more likely to get a non defective unit than a defective one, but again, it's really just based on luck.
As for whether it's that bad, I haven't gotten mine yet, but I don't think you'll notice it for most situations unless you're lying in bed with the lights turned off. This is assuming you get a normal unit.
As for the OnePlus, I was actually quite interested in that phone, but it has way more than just black crush. People were reporting holepunch banding and green tint on their units, so I didn't want to risk it.
Nubia is a decent choice but I don't trust their after sales service. Atleast Asus is very well known in the PC market and can be contacted with relative ease.
Sad thing is that if I didn't have the exynos versions of Samsung in my region, I probably would've gone for their s20+, but alas, they've forced my hand and I decided to take a leap of faith with the Rog instead. Here's to hoping our units are good quality.

Would you mind doing the test at https://youtu.be/fv6T7aHsd54 for me?
Just note down the lowest number at which you can distinguish a grey box from a black one at 0,25, 50, 75 and 100% brightness.
Yeah, it sucks
When I watch dark scene in Netflix, dark part seems like gray or dark green like that.
And when I turn the brightness to 0%, the display turns really strange. Only in Netflix, not other apps. But it's pretty serious problem I think

Asus actually spoke about the Netflix problem in their forums. Basically, don't use the app's inbuilt brightness slider because for some reason it changes gamma instead of brightness, so rather use the system slider from the toggle menu to change brightness.
If it's only there in Netflix then you're probably not experiencing any black crush per se, it's just that Netflix works weird on the ROG.

The test at https://youtu.be/fv6T7aHsd54
All you need to do is go to a dark room, and check upto which box you can distinguish grey from black.
Please test it at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% brightness, and check on both 144hz as well as 60hz.
Ok guys it took me hours finding a fix mixing colors etc but i have found a temporary solution for this
1. Download Screen Balance from Playstore(developed by QuickDoc)
2. Turn it On
3. Im on free version of the app so i am only able to try what is available
Follow settings below
Flouroscent
Strenght 90
Contrast 100
Brightness 0
Greatly Helps, thank me later lmao
So basically i think this can be fixed by a software update but need an expert calibration
