Looking for Moto E5 Play XT1921-1 Firmware - Moto E5 Questions & Answers

Im trying to locate the stock firmware for the xt1921-2 but the only person who seems to have it has a disabled account and his link goes to a permission only google docs account. Does anyone happen to have this firmware available?

No one has it. Also the only person to have it has all the links removed because for whatever reason some dumbass decided it was ok to remove help links to this phone. Also I have no idea why they haven't deleted the Firmware guy's post. This website sucks.

Thats less then pleasant to hear. Guess I'll have to shelf this phone until someone gets it. Ive got access to a second phone same model and firmware but no good walk through to convert to a usable .img

I have an unrooted XT1921-2 Moto e5 play.

[Q] Unable to update, Software status:Modified

So i keep being prompted to get the new OTA update and whenever i try to download and install it, it reboots goes to the install screen, gets about 1/4 of the way through, says error and then reboots to an update unsuccessful page
After digging around my phone i also noticed it says my software was modified on the status page
But obviously ive never rooted this phone as its pretty much impossible at the moment
Has anyone experienced something similar and found a way to fix it?
did you disable any of the bloat? that might be your issue.....

Try a factory data reset but you will wipe your phone and lose all data and apps.

That's odd, I even blocked the OTA via adb and mine says official.
OK i tried both, neither worked, also when i boot into recovery i get qe 1/1 at the bottom left side of my screen
Decided to just get a replacement from motorola since I'm still under warranty, but thank you for the suggestions!

I am unable to obtain the moforoot util to do this. When I put in my ID on the moforoot page, it says my device is not supported. I know for a fact the model and current OS on it. Its 5.1 updated already which is probably why the website is rejecting my request to obtain the util.
I do not think the bootloader will allow me to downgrade. If anybody has a solution, please let me know.
Note: Using XT1254 w/ latest 5.1 update from Aug-Sept.

If you want to flash an official update that is greater than or equal to the version you're on now, you don't need mofo. You could use fastboot, rsdlite, Motorola device manager or the Verizon upgrade assistant. The upgrade assistant is probably the easiest way to go. That's the annoying pop up software you get whenever you plug your phone into your computer.

I tried all 3 different options and none of them work. Then I went into Verizon store and asked them to do it and they told me that they don't do that anymore. Only contacts, photos, etc.
The store told me to send it to Motorola for them to do it. I'm sure there is an ISP somewhere or some trick button internally for them to unlock the bootloader, but nobody is saying.
I am out of options, and I am ready to send it to whomever can fix it for me. PM me if you can guarantee to do it and send it back.
-Thanks

Send it to Motorola then. If your phone is less than a year old, they will send you a new one for free.

Restoring XT1900-1 to stock with no backups

I lent a phone out to a friend and received it back with the boot loader unlocked and the system, data, and internal storage wiped. I don't know if they were trying to run custom firmware or what.
I was thinking of just flashing something on it, but I was wondering if there would be any way to return it back to stock (or as close as possible). It was purchased from Google. Confirmed to be an Android One Moto X4, 32 GB from my order history.
I'm assuming that this is a US version XT1900-1.
The firmware is here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/payton/official/FI/
Here is a possible guide, I haven't done any this myself.

Thank you so much. I was finding links to that repository, but I couldn't get any of the links to work. Yours did.
Edit: Just got it flashed and started it up. I'm a bit confused. The order screen shows it's an Android One Moto X4 from Google, but I know when I originally got it the bootup screen would play the Motorola "Hello moto" with the people flipping the f out. This one's just the Android One logo. Do I figure this out just by seeing if the OTA updates fail, and then I try a different channel?
Also, this dm_verrit notification, I'm guessing this would be because encryption was removed when he wiped it. Is there a way to re-enable that and remove the message?
I remember on the Nexus 5x there was an image you had to flash to avoid the notices about having a modified system image. Is there a similar way for me to get rid of the message stating that the phone is running different firmware after I've locked the bootloader?

Questions on flashing ATT firmware- unlocked S10+

Hi everyone, longtime lurker on XDA, just signed up today I recently purchased an unlocked S10+ which I would like to use with ATT. Been an ATT subscriber for almost 8 years now, and this is my first time buying an unlocked and not ATT branded phone. That being said, I have gone through the forums and have a rough idea how to flash ATT firmware on my new phone. I guess my questions are as follows:
1. I know that ATT firmware is not available without paying at most sites, but what about the user data file? I see that question being asked, do the sites hosting ATT firmwares also have user data files? If not, how to get them?
2. I'm assuming flashing firmware is still possible on the phones without needing root.
3. Should I flash the ATT firmware as soon as I receive the phone, without going through the setup process? Or can I flash after testing the phone for a couple of days.
4. Any major pitfalls by flashing ATT firmware?
I'm planning to do all this because I would like to use visual voicemail and HD voice if possible. I know that since my phone isn't whitelisted at ATT, those services may not work anyways, but I figured the first step is for me to flash the firmware, and then try to beg/cajole ATT to somehow help me with getting the phone working. Thanks in advance for your inputs and please excuse the noob questions :fingers-crossed:

I have an AT&T branded S10+ here.
1. The sites hosting the AT&T files that you have to pay for should have the AT&T user data file.
2. Yes, you just need a special patched version of ODIN that's here in the forums. Other versions won't work.
3. You can flash whenever as flashing will automatically do a data factor reset.
4. No pit falls, just they changed a few things from ASI6 to BSIW. BSIW is the current firmware with the November 2019 security patch.
You're not going to find AT&T firmware past SG8 or SGB I think it is here in the forums. You could flash that, then take the OTA to the current firmware. If you want the ASI6 firmware or later, you gotta pay for it.

No problem, let me know if you find a site that doesn't charge. I am so close to downloading the ASI6 firmware off of a pay site.

I just went with the BSIV uploaded here to the forums, it's one version behind the latest, BSIW. Everything is working fine mostly. Contrary to public opinion, I do indeed seem to have VoLTE, WiFi calling and visual voicemail. Checked them all and they work. No idea about HD voice, that setting is no longer showing up in the settings menu, not a big deal anyway. The only problem I see so far is that ATT video calling doesn't work (never used it anyway), and more importantly, I'm unable to OTA update to the latest firmware BSIW. Have to dig into it further. But a huge thanks to the esteemed users of XDA, couldn't have done it without you! :good::good:
Did you eventually get OTA's?
I'm thinking my next phone will be an unlocked Note 20, but flash ATT firmware (I'm a prepaid subscriber and it's easier to buy from Samsung)...

Am happy to report that I did indeed get OTAs! I had to flash manually for a few months, but the last manual flash did the trick, and have been getting OTAs since then. Not sure if I would do it again, but at least it worked for me.
I actually paid to download the ASI6 firmware and haven't even used it. Kind of a mistake as I see BSIW or BSIV would have worked fine. Doh! Oh well.

Too bad, better luck next time I guess
Lol yeah. I can still flash ASI6 though as my S10 is still on an old firmware. I use my S10+ as my daily driver. It just sucks I paid like $12 for it and didn't need to.

Phone a mess...I think I need to Odin to get completely fresh...but don't find firmwr

I have been having my phone act really messed up, even after factory reset. Here is what is happening:
Play Store freezes: Will freeze at various %, often 99 or 100, then won't install and other apps wait
When above is going on, then other things don't work: widgets don't update
Notifications don't fire, or fire very late
It is very annoying. I have tried:
Factory Refresh then restore from SmartSwitch
Factory Reset, then restore from Google
Factory REfresh and restoreo nothing
IN all those cases, it still does the same thing.
Last night, it was frozen with 20 updates waiting...when I got up this morning, they all installed 6 hours before I got up.
So, I have no confidence this will help, but I"m thinking I need to Odin a firmware down, and then install app one at a time, not restore. Maybe there is some virus in it or something.
So, I check Sammobile, and find zero firmwares for Note 9. I went to the Guides and Discussion section, and haven't found one for the SM-960U. I did find one for SM-960U1, which said was for VZW. Mine is AT&T .
If anyone can point me in the right direction, or has suggestions for fix to the problem, it would be appreciated. In the meantime, I'm going to search some more.
By the way, my current firmware is: N960SQ3CSJ1.
I have found a thread in an earlier version, but it is indicated it says this which makes me leary about using it:
Obsolete firmware
Since this firmware is long outdated and Samsung & every U.S. carrier has made their Pie firmware available to the public, this thread will be closed. Please find your carrier's current firmware from their support website or visit updato.com

I have also found a site or two (not sammobile.com) that list the firmware, but no instructions for install. Given some of the things that must be considered/done on these, I hope to find a thread with good instructions for doing it. It's been a few years since I have done updates and rooting, etc. (I'm aware this still has no root).
I found a download site that lists my number, but says T-Mobile. I'm aware that supposedly that should work on AT&T. I'd think if there were no difference, it would list both. So, stall wary...
Maybe I have found a thread that will get me going, here.
All the firmware is the same. It will provision to the sim you have. Use Frija. But Sammobile does have the firmware also don't know why you say it doesn't.

I was successful installing from the site I linked.
It made zero difference to the problem. I did the firmwsre install and loaded apps one by one. Worked fine most of the day. Tonight so the problems are back.
Sigh...
Oh reason I said Sammobike didn't have it is because when I entered the one I need in the search bar of the site nothing came back.

Pulling the boot image from Android 12 (T-Mobile US)

Considering how this is rolling out, I went on ahead and pulled the boot.img for XT2071-5 (T-Mobile US) and patched it. The original boot is labeled as such, and the patched image has the Magisk Version associated within the file name... And no.. Still haven't found a version of TWRP that is useful for this device. If any of you know of one that works with Android 12, please leave a comment, a link, or the file itself....
Hope this is useful..
Edit: Alright...Can't upload them...
However I can tell you where I got the firmware..
You'll need to download the Rescue and Smart Assistant Software the Lenovo Provides..
They have access to the firmware of what's currently installed on your device.
Act like you're going to flash it, and it will download. Don't complete the flash, but access the storage file.. You'll find what you're looking for in there...
Where u able to unlock bootloader with Android 12? I got an XT2071-5 Tmobile and my phone doesnt let me unlock due it says that Cannot get Unlock data for asking my bootloader unlock code
Yes.. go to Motorola's website, or do a search for "unlock bootloader Motorola" under Google or whatever you use..
Follow the links for Motorola's website.. it should get you to where you're want, or at least get you close.
They will give you some instructions, and let you know what you're about to do.
Remember to backup your stuff though, before you do unlock it.
It will wipe you..
Unlocking it will also lock down any and all banking or purchasing apps you have.. be ready for even simple bill pay online not to function..
There are work arounds for it, but you'll need to be rooted.
But yeah.. Motorola's pretty giving on that code.. just realize they don't give two ****s about you after this.. lol.. you'll read something around the lines during the disclaimer.
Good luck..
